Email/SMS/MMS account locked after 6.1 upgrade - Touch Cruise General

Really need help here. I decided to upgrade to WM6.1 yesterday. I backed up with the Sprite software, ran the upgrade and then restored the backup (relatively smoothly!). Now all is as it was but I have these strange 'Account Locked' messages sitting in all my inboxes, saying that company policy prohibits use of this messaging sevice on this device. I am not able to send or receive any type of message. I tried a hard reset and a restored again but same thing. Obviously this is casuing me a major headache.
Has anybody else experienced this or have any idea what I can do to resolve it? Thanks in advance.

You cannot use a backup made on WM6.0 to restore on WM6.1. It will mess up your filesystem. It's like restoring a Windows 95 backup on your Vista desktop PC.

Is there any way to downgrade from 6.1 to 6.0?

Yeah flash a 6.0 ROM back on there, search the forum for a link to the ROM.

Yeah, but think twice. I had significant signal degradation after downgrading.

It's all based on the radio ROM though. They would probably have to downgrade that to, to whatever worked with the 6.0 ROM and provided good reception.

Factory installed software disappeared after a hard reset

After a hard reset in hopes of restoring the MDA to "factory settings" I lost a couple programs.
**"Voice Dialling"
**the program that shows the Battery Life and GPRS Usage
Does anybody here know on how to contact the mfr to get the original software from them? I would really like to reinstall it and restore it to the original settings.
The phone was supplied from T-Mobile (Netherlands) and then unlocked and now operating on the US Cingular GSM/GPRS network.
Any assitance would be greatly appriciated.

There are several extended ROM downloads available at the xda-developers site. Do a search. You can run the setup files to get the programs. However, you might want to go ahead and update your ROM while you are at it.
well i have the 1.13 t-mobile firmware on it... after i flashed that one the apps were lost. but i just found out theres a slightly newer 1.13 out noiw, so ill try that one.
Thanks for pointing towards the extended stuff, i was under the impression those things were standard on every mda/xda/jam etc. ill check those out im kinda new to this stuff
I feel kinda stupid... turned out those apps are just in the appsuite on the cd :x somehow they didnt install after i updated the 'firmware'. everything's okay now

Any XDAII WM5 for Asia?

As I am using XDAII for 2003se which is 2.0600WWE downloaded in this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=16880). The radio is 1.18 and the bootloader is 1.01. As I can upgrade my rom from 2003 to 2003se without any problem, I would like to upgrade it to WM5 in these few days.
However, I face some problems in my updating.
I have try XDA_WM2k5_2.01a64WWE, XDA_WM2k5_2.01a00WWE, however, I cannot search the phone network after upgrade rom. As I have read some posts before, I know that there may be my radio's problem, so I upgrade my radio also. I have try 1.17, 1.18, 1.08 with these rom. Unlucky, it also cannot search phone network.
So. for the only solution is get back 2003se with "Asia O2 Xda II WM 2003 SE Upgrade" in this forum. I can get my network back.
As the result, I would like to ask that what problem am I facing and what can I do? Is it the problem of bootloader ? or the problem of radio?
And also, there have "Asia upgrade" for WM5? It helps me a lot and I need not to afraid the networking problem.
Please help me. .
location?
you're lucky you can install that file to your XDA2. Mine can't I donno why. Activesync kept on disappearing. Although upgrading to 2003se is not a problem.

waht edition of active sync do you have? to get wm2005 to work it has to be active sync 4.0 or higher and for the newer roms you have to have AS 4.2 or equivalent beta versions
I come from Hong Kong
I am using 4.2 for sync
I'm currently using AS 4.2. The problem is that I couldn't install WM2005 2.01 64 to my himalaya. Once I double click on the installer, AS disappears and an error screen will come out after 10 mins. I also tried installing WM 3.0 but still the same result. I really wanted to try using WM2005 on my himalaya. could you guys help me?

hmmn...
you did not read thoroughly...
AS disappear normally...
are you using the hima no id dot exe?
visit the wiki
Jojo,
I tried installing the following files that I downloaded through this website:
HIM_3.00a.32_WM5_AKU_3_CLEAN
XDA_WM2k5_2.01a64WWE
WM2k5 3.00a64wwe
I understand that AS will disappear the same way as it does when I installed SE. However, what puzzles me is that all of these installers will inform me that there is an error and I could not proceed further with the installation. I even have to restart my laptop because AS couldn't communicate with my himalaya after my attempted installation.
Sorry I'm not well versed with computer language/jargons that's why I could not understand the readme file. I would really appreciate it if you could guide me. Thanks.
at last installed it! I have to re install though. I restored some of my data and it crashed on me.

Newbie with S710 needs advice

Well, bought SPV E650, de-branded and reflashed into official HTC rom, got it unlocked. Ok, put some games on
Now, from my past experience in modding/tweaking electronic gadgets i know, that there is bound to be some sort of "better" way of doing things than that of "official releases".
So my question as a complete n00b in WM, PPC and smartphones is - what do you fo first thing you get your hands on S710 ?
At the moment i'm running HTC official 1.34.405.1 ROM. Are there any better ones ? custom ? faster ? whatever ?
Well first thing to do is read over the Vox wiki page. You can find a link to it in my sig. Learn how the phone works and get comfortable with upgrading and stuff. I'm currently running Dr. Gonzo's windows 6.1 rom which, IMHO, is much better than winmo 6.0. Check it out and see if you like it. You can always downgrade to the HTC official rom if you wish to do so.
I have some stuff on the phone flash at the moment. If i reflash rom will it all be erased ? I'm interested in Java apps/games that i have installed. How do i un-install them so that i have a copy of that for later reinstall after flashing (where are installed java apps, midlets, kept ?)?
Getting an mSD card today, but will store stuff on my pc for time being. I just want to try WM6.1 (preferably without losing my stuff already on the phone.)...
yes everything will be erased when you reflash.
you need to have the .jar files for installing them again.
Like reebzor I'm currently running Dr. Gonzo's Windows Mobile6.1 v1.1 rom and I find it much better than Windows Mobile6. Unfortunately everything that you have got on your phone will be erased when you re flash the ROM. If you have got phone numbers on your phone, and SMS messages that you want to keep then download a a copy of Jeyo Mobile companion, it's not free but the time limited trial will do to backup your contacts and SMS messages that you have got on your phone prior to re flashing and will also do to alow you to restore your contacts and SMS messages back to your phone after re flashing your phone.

need help flashing my vario iv to wm6.5 please!

Hi, ive flashed a few handsets before (wallaby x2, alpine and a wizard) and had no problems but for some reason cannot even get off the first hurdle with my t-mobile vario iv and cant even unlock the dam thing to flash a custom rom! ive looked at post after post and downloaded so many programs like hard spl and nothing works. the programs ether wont even open or they fail half way through the process but havent bricked my phone so far (fingers and toes crossed!) please could someone help me with what unlocking software i need, what radio rom and main rom i should be using. Really i would like to try a standard wm6.5 rom and then try custom roms after but like what nrg have done if stock is not avaliable. its model is RAPH300 part no- 99HFP013-00
my current rom version is 1.69.110.8 WWE
my current radio version is 1.02.25.19
protocol version 52.33.25.17U
my email is [email protected] if you prefer to help via email
thanks in advance everyone, steve.
Anyone out there?
Ensure you have hard SPL'd your handset before trying to flash ANY custom roms
before you do that, see if there is an updated T-Mobile rom, see if that update will work, if that update works without any glitches then it'll be alright, if you get an error with an official update then possibly something wrong with either your pc setup or the handset
if your using vista, make sure you've got the windows mobile device centre installed, if not, you need to go to microsoft and download it
if using windows xp, make sure you've got the latest activesync installed.
ensure the cable your using is not faulty by trying it with a different cable
and good luck!

thanks for trying to help, have you ever read something over and over and repeatedly missed something in it? i think thats what i did wrong. i did not see the bit about removing my sim card even though i had read the noobs guide again and again. removed my sim and bosh, spl worked! then everything else was a breeze and i am now running the energy 3.0 wm6.5 rom! havent flashed the radio yet but will probably do that today. the energy rom is a vast improvement on my stock 6.1 rom in many areas and seems to have improved camera performance quite a lot (not quality) and the menus are going to be great once i have got used to the totally different interface. does anyone have any sugestions on other roms tha may be better than this one?
Hi there
Glad to hear you got it working!
I am personally using NATF's WM6.1 lite touch pro rom as all i look for in a rom is stability as i actually use my phone for phone/text purposes and there is nothing more annoying than a hanging phone when your trying to quickly reply to a text message!

How can the ROM version suddenly change?

Hi All,
Just a quick question.
I noticed today that my ROM and Manila version under Settings have reverted back to 1.66 despite the fact that ROM version under on the o2 boot screen is still 1.72.
How can this happen? Is it something to do with restoring a backup?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Sorry Mods, I thought I was back in the HD2 General thread. Please move it.
what did you use to restore a backup it could have saved some registry bits and changed them in the phone,
Im sure you restored a full backup after changing the ROM Dont do this !!! Seriously you get many problems with that. Just restore your contacts, messages etc. and install everything clean again...
possibly, my bad....

I changed my ROM ages ago and checked the version under Settings straight afterwards and it was fine Im sure ( I think LOL). I need do a restore today after the HTC Messaging Client 2015 update didnt work and just happened to notice the inconsistency.
Anyway I reckon the ROM version displayed in settings is simply reading from a registry setting (I found the wrong manila version number in the registry also) , as the boot screen displays the correct version.
PS. I use SPBbackup in ROM upgrade mode when moving to a new ROM and and this is the first time I have experienced this. Bearing in mind that I have gone from 1.43 O2 to 1.66 stock to 1.72 O2 and this is the first time I noticing this, 2 months after last upgrade.
Strange...I havent noticed any issues, so I will probably just fix at the point of the next upgrade (assuming there will be one).
Thanks for input so far.
