Anyone notice that after updating to RC29 the calculator is way cooler? It has a more 3D appearance, and tapping on a key gives it a nice red color swirl effect. Looks like a calculator that Darth Vader would use. Too bad they didn't add more functions to the "advanced panel" (or add a 3rd panel).
It would also be nice if the dialer would be updated to use the same graphics. But that may come in time.
Just looked... I never knew about the advanced panel till you said that LOL
i still have rc19 and the calculator has a 3D appearance, and tapping on a key gives it a red color swirl effect

Oops. I could have sworn the original calculator had the same appearance as the dialer. Sorry about that!
Anyway, I still think the dialer should have the same graphics.
have you knoticed how the calculator does not have a clear button when you have the keyboard open, but has one when it is closed?

I noticed in a HTC Diamond video on youtube that swiping your finger across the screen in TF3D animates to the next/previous tab, but mine seems to just change the screen without animation. Is this happening to anyone else? Is it a difference between devices or am I missing a setting or something else?
Here's the video, watch for when he slides to change tabs and the animation between tabs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qefS3rKeViM&feature=related
HTC removed this animation with the diamond rom 1.93 (ergo on the pro as well) to improve the performance of TouchFlo 3d.
Excellent, thanks for the quick reply. I installed the htc black coloured theme using TF3D Config & got the animation back. Using the tweaks in this part of the forum, TF3D performance is improved anyway.

Which theme is it (link?)?
Does it work with the Pro in Landscape mode?

Landscape mode is the same as usual as in your avatar.
I found some bugs though; clicking on "all programs" from the "programs" tab and also the "5 day" softkey from the "weather" tab shows black text on a black background instead of the standard white background, which is kind of annoying. It's a nice theme though.
Here
Can you roll back tho?
Yeah, theres a button on TF3D config to "restore default" which will delete all of the custom manilla files, which makes the original ones set as the theme (they are built into the ROM and are never deleted), so you get the original theme back.
Can you post a new link of the animation file?
It doesn't work on my own!
Hello all,
I just watched a small video of the introduction of the Nexus 1 "Google phone":
http://www.nuvideo.nl/internet/34105/google-lanceert-supertelefoon.html
and saw a nice feature: the background shifts left and right as one swipes the screen left and right.
I'm thinking it would be some nice piece of eye candy to have a panoramic background picture that shifts left a bit when you scroll to the next tab in HTC's sense interface vice versa.
Anyone knows of an app or tweak that does this?
I saw this feature on spb shell 3.5
I suppose this would be a nice mod in conjunction with cookies home tab.

Not sure that sense would be able to produce the desired effect. When you press on the tab slider, a large icon overlay is displayed and obscures the background. Also, while sliding from left to right the previously selected tab remains visible (behind the overlay) until you release.

Awww, you're right ofcourse
OK how about this idea: what if we could define a background picture per tab? Not the same effect as in the movie I linked but still pretty awesomecookies!

Try Max Manila: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551489. I've not used it but it does mention BG4all(Background for all tabs) and more interestingly, Panoramic wallpapers?
Or this BG4all only: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636887
Ok, I've seen this in some custom roms (not many) where the smartdial area and talk button are not this boring grey and green talk button. But, on older dialer's the smartdial color was just a bitmap to change it as well as the talk button. That doesn't seem to be the case now and I would like to see mods done with it or a tutorial on how to do it. Thanks.
Anyone? I have changed the smartdial04.bmp file and when I copy it to Windows, it doesn't change
Are you looking fore something like this?
I'd recommend Dinik's dailer 2.0. glassy buttons and clolored call and end keys, also beautiful in call buttons. check it out! keyboard cab is sweet too!
Thanks guys and I know of all Dinik's stuff. The area I'm talking about is the highlight where your phone numbers are (grey in color). Changing the color of that area. I've seen it on a few roms (ok, maybe one..NRGZ's) where it changed to blue. Which I know is indicated by Smartdial_04.bmp if I'm not mistaken. But, if I change that color and drop it into windows, the color of the selection bar is still unchanged.
realised i was wrong. post needs deleting
The new google voice actions is really slick looking grey/ steel and functions beautifully
It would be awesome to see the sleek look of this app brought throughout the entire os, it actually brings me to wonder what gingerbread will look like if this is the newest thing from google... perhaps it will take a turn that way!
untill then... i hope someone with the time would take intrest in this ^_^
interesting obversation by the way!
Gingerbread is expected dates are mid- October (around 15 -16th).
So we really don't have long to wait.
Hmm like a Carbon steel theme? I like that Idea too!
Really, the new "voice actions" box looks exactly like the new widget theme Google introduced with Eclair. Nothing new or exciting here, other than that this is the biggest box we've seen with this theme (until now it's been smaller, like the music or news/weather widgets). Would be cool to see them continue to integrate it, though.
Personally, though, I think they should run with the new Froyo look. The semi-transparent background from the new Launcher2 dock, or the keys that appear on the Froyo stock keyboard when you swipe up? Overlay those on top of this widget background. Use that as the background for all the widgets, and the keys on the keyboard, really anything in the OS that is supposed to be dark.
I also wonder if Google will ever exchange the status bar for a dark one, since that's what every custom skin (Sense, Blur, TouchWiz) and almost every theme from XDA does. Seems obvious that's what most people want. (Not me; I prefer it light, but I'm just sayin')
I am a latecomer to Android 6, as KitKat has been the best for my outdated hardware, until now with the S7 (woohoo!) I've always needed to run custom ROMs because stock Android looks very boring to me. I am a big fan of everything "inverted" so that instead of black text on all white backgrounds. white text on all black backgrounds looks EXCELLET, especially on Samsung's AMOLEDs. Now with Android 6, I am quite pleased with how much I can customize the look, with function baked right in. VERY nice. (Also running Nova Launcher).
That said. I have looked through many of the themes available for Marshmallow, but one part of this OS that is driving me nuts is the ugly phone app--it's a very plain black on white. I've also tried different dialers, but those all launch the stock "phone" app when an actual call is in session, switching from a nice white on black dial-keypad (stock or third-party dialer) (btw, the "phone" app is on the play store, by Google Inc.)
So, does anybody know, first of all, what the deal is with the stock black on white phone app not following a theme's colors? is this a fault of the theme dev or Google's "phone" app?
Secondly, does anybody know if there is a fairly recent phone.apk version that has been modified to invert the colors?
Man! almost every other app I have is white on black, except this phone app!
If you are not sure what I'm talking about, try applying a dark theme and then start a call, and watch your phone app revert to the ugly black on white in-call screen.

That is a nice dialer, indeed, but the in-call phone app is NOT the same thing as a dialer. There are many dialers, but I am asking about the app that a dialer launches when a telephone call is running.

I'm not looking for a dialer. Please see the original post.
