Use front camera as default? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

My phone went swimming late August (house flooded...so lots of expensive stuff did). Since then, activating the camera gets me an error stating "Unable to initialize camera. Failed to set up the camera device.". The rest of the device works at 100%, but on that dreadful morning, there was a lot of water coming out from behind the back camera lens and light used for the flash.
I was wondering if there is a way to initiate the front camera, and use that as the primary. I cannot find a way to use this outside of Video calls (which in the USA, so never used it). I do desire a camera on this device, so was wondering if I just follow through with getting the HD, or is there a way to test (not even sure the front one works) the other camera.
Thanks guys!

I can`t give you a complete answer but you may want to try poking around in the devices registry possibly.

[Q] LG Doubleplay (T-Mobile) - few questions

First of all - no love for dual-screen phones? Couldn't find a single topic on all of XDA about it.
Anyway, not sure exactly when the phone became available for sale, but I couldn't find anything more than one review that isn't too detailed. I'm considering getting it to replace my G2, but I've got a few questions/concerns:
-Does the phone have a front-facing camera? I've seen some places mention that it has a front VGA camera, while other places don't mention a front camera at all.
-Any details on the 5MP camera type/quality? I'm hoping it's at least somewhat better than the G2's...my next pick for phone would probably be the myTouch 4G Slide, which I hear has a pretty good camera
-Any idea if the second display can be used for anything other than the 8 "mini-apps" or whatever - like, can you use the second display to show recently used apps (the equivalent of holding the home button on most Android devices)?
-And I know the phone was just released, so this question might not be answered for a while (since it involves rooting) - would changing the screen density (through the build.prop) screw up the second screen (like making it tiny or bleed into the main display or something)? I can barely stand the G2 with the stock screen density, so I can't imagine using the DoublePlay (with its smaller resolution) without first changing the screen density
I might have time to stop by a T-Mobile store tomorrow and check it out for myself, just wondering if I could get any questions answered in the meantime.
I received an LG DoubleShot from T-Mobile to review so I'll answer the questions as well as I can since I can't find anything else on this phone anywhere either.

No front-facing camera, just a 5MP rear-facing.

The camera quality is alright. Better than a few Motorola phones I've owned, but not as good as my wife's Samsung. It's an average camera at best.

This part really bugged me. I was hoping for the same thing as you but it's only for the "mini-apps". There are 9 apps and you can add 8 to the second screen, so you have to forfeit one. Some of them you can move up to the main screen to work on the larger screen (like messaging, calendar, and richnote) and the others are just quick shortcuts to functions you would need while doing something else (like music, photo, and browser).
Long-pressing on Home with the keyboard slid out just showed the recent apps like normal. As far as I can see there is no integration between the main screen and the smaller one, just the other way around.

I can't answer this one as I don't want to screw with the settings on the phone.
I will be posting a review of this phone in the coming week or so if you aren't planning on getting a new phone before that you should check it out. It will be on DroidEmpire.com.
Thanks for answering the questions...I think I'll wait a little longer before I upgrade and see if there's going to be worthwhile updates or dev support for it (like adding extra functions to the second screen), but I was really banking on it having a front-facing camera =/
Here's a shot I took the other day with it while I was grilling, just to show the picture quality.

Thanks...it's not bad, but I would like something better, plus a front camera. Guess the MyTouch 4G Slide is my best choice then, as I don't know of any other T-Mobile-compatible QWERTY Android phone with a front-facing camera (at least one worth upgrading to over the G2).
Also...where do you live where you get such big reptiles and spiders readily available to photograph? =P

[Q] Update that was supposed to fix camera, made camera worse?

OK, so I got a Nexus 5 in December. It's my first Android device. I intend to root or custom-ROM it, but I haven't done this yet. When it arrived, it was running, I believe, 4.4.0.
At the time I got it I had heard a lot about how the camera on the Nexus 5 wasn't very good. I had heard thirdhand that there was some open source patch that came out of the modder community, and that the open source patch had then been accepted and was gonna be in an update. Then 4.4.2 came out and I heard that this was supposed to be the fix that made the camera better. Actually, my camera worked pretty much fine to start with, but hey, if 4.4.2 could make it even better, great!
OK, so I install 4.4.2. And now my camera kind of like…*sucks? Basically, the autofocus started acting really poorly. When I'm trying to take pictures, it will frequently unfocus and just *stay* that way— it doesn't appear that any part of the picture is in focus at these moments— until I tap on something in the image to reset the autofocus. I generally can't take a photo without looking and tapping to manual focus, and sometimes it will unfocus just before I tap the picture icon, I think if I moved the camera too much.
Is this experience unusual? I never saw this particular kind of autofocus problem with my iPhone, and I don't *think* I saw it with 4.4.0. And is there anything I can do about this? Are there alternate Camera apps I should know about? Would rooting/etc help me here in any way?
Please help, my selfies are suffering

[HELP] change or repair camera :'(

I have a problem with the rearward camera. Today I was taking a college photo and opened the camera and it looked nothing, everything looks blurry. Arriving home I opened the phone to clean the camera thinking it was dirty, but nothing, everything looks blurry.
A if you take the phone for service of my company, but as we wanted to release the bootloader not accept me even if it still has warranty cell.
I wonder if anyone knows where I can find a new camera module for my phone. It would be a shame to use leave for two months I just have to.
Clarify that the problem has to do with the software already changed ROMs and the problem is the same.
The problem is hardware but can not find any place that sells the camera for refaccion.

Mine does the same thing something rattles around inside around the camera/ SIM/ fingerprint scanner area. It's done it since I got it first I thought it was a button, then I thought maybe it was the spring mechanism inside SIM slot 2 so I put a dead SIM card in that I had laying around but it still does it even with that in. I aIso have a microSD card installed so it's not that either.

Na it's still under the manufacturers 1 year warranty or else I would. Plus I'm pretty sure I'm going to be selling it soon. Sadly I love the phone, best phone I ever had but it's been out 6 months now and doesn't have any attention from developers. I need ROMs ,kernels and mods to flash. That's why I buy Android phones. I bought this one thinking with the price and this thing having the hardware specs it does that developers would be flocking to this phone. So it looks like I'm going to be heading to Nexus land because one thing I learned from this phone is that I can't own a phone without a fingerprint scanner again lol I love that thing.
My assumption is that the rattling is from the camera sensor being shaken around. The Pure XL (and its many other named "variants") have OIS capabilities for the camera, where the image sensor can move/tilt a tiny bit to compensate for small movements when taking a picture/video, which will not result in a blurry product.
I'm not sure if it is supported in other camera apps, but it's automatic in the stock camera app when you focus on something when taking a picture, but for video you have to turn it on in the settings (Gear>Anti-shaking).
If you turn the phone over so that the rear camera faces towards you, focus the rear camera on your face with the dedicated shutter button, and move the phone around slightly, you can see the sensor tilting to track your face.
On a side note, not sure if you guys have this problem, but when I don't use my Pure XL's camera for a bit of time (and don't have the stock camera app in my recent apps), it takes a really long time for it to automatically focus when I open the app, but if I shake it around, it will start focusing right away.

That's funny I just literally found out it was the camera eye or whatever you call it under the lense I was just messing around with the camera and saw it move.

Blurry camera

I just want to start off by saying , YES i know there are multiple threads about the G5 and having the main camera not focus. I found that if i shook my phone, that eventually it would focus. Most people seem to fix this problem by replacing the camera. So i went ahead and bought one from ifixit, and when it arrived, the camera was DOA. They sent me another and after 1 day, the same thing happened. The phone refused to focus. So they sent me another replacement and the same thing. It wouldn't focus. They agreed to refund me. I then bought one from ebay and after installing it today, IT DOES NOT FOCUS. I have checked/cleaned the lens area , so no there are no smudges. There is 1 scratch but it does not cover the lens itself. The secondary camera has about 3-4 scratches that cover the lens, but that camera has no problem focusing. Does anyone have any ideas? I have had this phone for over a year, and apart from this issue it has been bullet proof(ignoring the screen retention problem that seem to also affect phones like the s7). I love it so much. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Not going to help much but I'm in the same boat. I can hear the camera rattling when I shake it, and with my original camera, the focus mechanism trying to to its thing. Tried a few ebay ones labeled as "New" and got ones that are pulled from old phones and won't even try to focus or simply not work at all. I would think that ifixit you wouldv'e had the best luck with and thats pretty disappointing to hear because I was hoping pony up and just go with them next. All I've heard is that you just have to keep trying until you get one that works, then be super careful with it. Kinda sucks, at least we have the wide angle though and thats what I use most of the time for actual pictures but most apps only go through the regular camera.
I am at a lost on what to do. Its so frustrating. The wide angle camera is nice, but not as a main camera. I have to zoom and crop quite a bit since I use Fb messenger(which kills quality) and the wide angle is such a hassle. I literally gave up. I'm tired of "trying" other ones. I really don't know what to do. I guess I either live with it or, sell it for cheap, then buy a s7.
