Hi,
A Rom update has failed and left my C600 in a curious state. It quite happily boots to the tri-colour screen with USB in the corner and will even start the re-installation of the original rom - c600_email.exe
However 2-3 mins (70-80%) into the installation the screen fades to white and nothing else happens. I left it like this for 30min in case something was going on, with no change.
The battery is fully charged as I have an old C500 to charge and test.
None of the button seem to change anything, but removal and reinserting the battery will allow the C600 to boot to the Tri-colour screen.
Do any of you have any thoughts on this?
Mark
Sorted! - I tried doing this on a laptop that has very little clutter - no AVG, no firewall, winxp SP2, ie6 and tried again and it successfully completed.

Hello forum members,
would you please help me have the BT HTC S710 Original ROM? I have only seen the BT HTC S620, which when I tried to flash with to rebrand, blanked my HTC S710 screen. When I turn it on, only the two green lights come on either side of the phone ear piece.
It means that a hard reset is not visible on my screen, there is no tri-colour display either.
I have tried other ROMS, and get invalid id errors and error 270. I have tried Dr Gonzo and related ROMS.
It's now three days, no phone no pim, I am lost.
Thanks for your attention.
YOSEFE.
PS. You may PM me if convenient.
Hi YOSEFE,
I have the same problem
I tried the 620 rom and just have the 2 green LED's. I cannot get a bootloader screen and attempts to flash new roms get to 3% and then I get errors.
Did you ever sort this problem out?
Paul.
Have you unlocked ur USPL in ur phone?
You tried to flash a S620 ROM to a S710???? Look in the Wiki, there is a link to the official ROMs on the ftp...

Yes, I'm afraid I did, by mistake, flash 620 ROM to the 710 [feels rather stupid!]
Not happy with BT’s [mobile operator] own ROM and software that went on the phone, I successfully flashed Dr. Martin Gonzo’s Windows Mobile 6.1 v1.1 and have been using it for a couple of months but when BT launched their new phone software, I decided to try it but because it won’t work with WM 6.1, I needed to then revert back to BT’s old ROM and this was the only one available that I could find [feels rather stupid again].
The screen is completely black; only green LED's on each side of the earpiece shows any sign of life.
Connecting the phone via ActiveSync shows “HTC-S620 Connected” and I am able to browse the files on the phone but not having a display on the phone, I am limited to what I can do.
I have tried running RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship.exe but ActiveSync connection is lost and I hear the Windows hardware removed sound shortly after the progress bar is shown.
I’m at a loss as to what to try
Paul.
Shut it down, then hold down camera button and plug in the usb cable. The boot screen should appear and you should be able to flash the normal ROM!
I cannot get the boot screen, or any screen for that matter.
I have tried taking the battery out to make sure the phone is off. Reinserting that battery then holding the camera button down and then inserting the usb lead. The keypad lights up for a few seconds then goes out. ActiveSync then connects but the screen is still black
Paul.
[Edited: Sorry duplicate post]
Sorry for replying to my own post but a quick update...
I have managed to bring the phone back to life and reinstall Dr. Martin Gonzo’s Windows Mobile 6.1 v1.1 on it again.
This is partly assumption and not particularly accurate but the original poster (YOSEFE) might find this useful.
By installing the S620 rom on the S710, not only did I make the screen go blank, I think all the keys ended up remapped and mixed up, therefore any attempt to install Gonzo’s rom ultimately ended in failure because when the phone beeped and wanted a keypress to continue, pressing the left softkey for ‘OK’ or ‘Yes’ did not work because it had been remapped to do something else.
What worked for me is that when the phone beeped during the uspl_116_jockyw.bat install, I pressed the X or C key (I can’t remember the exact one now). One of these keys must have been the ‘OK’ or ‘Yes’ key after the S620 rom muddled things up. I only know this by trial and error over the period of today.
To my glee, the backlight lit up on the display and after a bit of tinkering, I’m back in action again
I won’t be installing a rom designed for another model again!
Paul.
Bat 'n' Ball,
sorry for not returning here to see your post. I will remember the possibility of pressing "X" or "C", should I make the same mistake as before, although like you, I should never do that ever again. However, technology being what it is, who knows?
In the end BT got me sorted out.
Thanks for sharing.
Hi All,
I have an Prophet (XDA, Qtek 200) since 4 months. It worked very well. Yesterday evening I switched off normally. But today morning, when I switch it on, the screen brightning strongly, with some blue color, and running some strips in it, but nothing more. Dispite of this screen problem, the unit works well, I heard the beginning signal. Then I tried to synchronize the unit with my desktop computer, and it was successful.
After that I tried all well-known method, to reconfigure my Prophet:
- soft reset (with stylus)
- remove battery for several minutes.
- total fill-up of battery.
- remove SD memory card.
- hard reset (camera+comm buttons and soft reset)
- enter into bootloader.
Neither of them caused changes, the screen doesn't work.
I'm affraid I have some hardware problem in screen or video-driver-"card".
Could anyone help me to repair my unit?
Thanks for advance!
Sanyi
I know this is a bit of an old phone now, but I'm hoping someone might be able to help...
When I switch the phone on, it gets to the Windows Mobile screen and then just hangs. After a few minutes, it turns itself off.
So far, I've tried the following;
1. Soft reset
2. Hard reset
3. Remove battery, put on charge (red light), replace battery (amber light), hard reset
4. Removed battery for 2 weeks
5. Praying
6. Swearing
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thx
Bad Flash
Hi
You could try starting the device in bootloader in order to re-flash the ROM, or flash a new ROM. Methods for this are:
1) Press the soft reset hole button whilst holding camera button fully in.
2) Remove the battery, then re-insert it and switch the device on by pressing the power button but again ensuring the camera button is depressed fully.
3) Remove the battery and re-insert it. Don't switch the device on but plug it into a Windows PC using a USB cable whilst, you guessed it, depressing the camera button.
If you can get into bootloader (three coloured screen with some yellow writing) then you can probably reflash the device. It sounds like a software problem not a hardware problem but I could be wrong on that.
If you can't get the device into bootloader mode you have a problem that is more complicated to fix, about which I can't advice.
Best wishes

Hi,
Thanks for the reply....I couldn't get your method to bring up the bootloader to work, but tried pressing Power and OK while doing a soft reset.
This brought up a screen with 4 horizontal bars - red, green blue & white. Text at the top says;
HERM100 (text in white)
IPL-1.01
HERM100 (text in yellow)
SPL-1.04
In the white bar is the word 'Serial'
Does this sound right?
Then it just hangs on this screen - is there something else I am supposed press on the phone, or do I do something via my laptop with activesync etc?
Sorry for the additional questions, but I've never had to do this before.
Thanks
An update....
After noticing that 'No GSM' appears on the splash screen, I have now found this page which I think might answer my questions.
I'll have a go at this tonight

Hi,
I have an ipaq hx2790. Last time, it was completely out of battery ( this happened several times before, with no troubles at all). I charged it overnight.
After fully charged, I turned it on. It turned on normal. But when status bar ( the small bar running left from right when booting) run for about 1/10 of the whole bar. The screen slowly appeared small dot with different colors, and then lines, after all, it became green-dark color with vertical lines.
I tried to soft-reset, hard reset. The same thing happen. Funny thing is, when I connect this device to my computer, I can still browse it folder, SD card through Windows Mobile Based Device in My Computer.
My hx2790 is preload with WM5
First, I thought it's something to do with software. But after soft-reset, hard-reset, same thing happens. I tried to install WM5 official rom for hx2790 from HP. No thing changes. Screen ok at the very first part of boot up. Getting worse after that. I can still browse it folder from computer.
P/s: It was once, booted normal into windows mobile screen (but after about 5 seconds, its screen slowly become worse).
Anyone have any ideas what's happening?
Thanks.
You can try to flash WM6.1 for HX2000 series to see if the same thing happens:

If there's the same - then probably LCD is bad or there's something wrong with motherboard.
I'm downloading the file.
I dont know whether it's LCD problem 'cause when at the very first of booting and in Pre-BL mode, it displays perfectly. Especially in Pre-BL mode and during the ROM update process, nothing's wrong with it.
I'll inform the result with this new ROM soon
Thanks.
Ok
I have had similar problems when there is something wrong with Windows upadate (ROM) file. Screen just fades out on starup
ROM Update was successful but can't help
Hi XDA-devs!
I've been going through this forum for quite a while now, but sadly I haven't been able to find the answer to my problem
I got a Kaiser 130 which isn't performing very well, actually it isn't performing at all.
Here is the problem:
Fully charged battery (not the problem)
I go push the powerbutton
Green light comes on and no more than that.
What I've tried so far:
Pulled the battery
Pulled the battery and pressed Power for more than 30 seconds.
Pushed the reset button while on (Turns out the green light)
Reset + Cam + Power (Turns it on again)
Power + Softkeys (Turns out the green light)
All sorts of battery dismounting and mounting, which suddenly gave a blink of a red light for a change.
Well this can be fixed! (initial thought)
BUT
I am unable to make the device do anything at all when it comes to USB connections in the way that the device gives no indication to Windows or Linux at all, so how am I supposed to get through to the device with frankenkaiser, MTTY or anything else?
It gives no indication to Active Sync, Windows Mobile Device Center or "The upgrade to WM6.1" HTC program.
The USB-connection is just not working!
The phone looks perfect and has never been used, but has been bricked for more than 2 years before I got my hands on it. It comes from an institution and was never used because it didn't work, so no damage has occoured.
It holds the original rom and has never been modded or anything.
So is this device simply out of my reach or am I missing something?
