Could be relating to an application or combination of apps that you have installed? If you can not identify what software is causing this, suggest you do a hard reset. What ROM are you using?
how can i check thiis? i already did a hard reset.. but when it reboots then it is there again..
tnx 4 help
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.

UMmm.. i think its more of a software issue then network.
I've had this happen many times on many different devices and it always turns out to be a software causing the device to hang.
BUT i have yet to have this happen to my Fuze.
So to the original poster, are you installing any apps? are you aware that you have to press the power button to wake up the device? Also you can take your stylus out and poke it in the little hole next to the usb port on the bottom of the phone to soft-reset the device rather than talking out the battery.
I`m not suggesting it can`t happen because of the software loaded but my solution is for those who get the problem with nothing loaded. Those reading this in that position will know who they are.
The fact you have never had it on your fuze would suggest you have only ever had it because of a software problem. Likewise I`ve only ever had it because of a network problem.

HI guys
I get my desire S before week ago but I think I have problem in radio as when I leave my phone in stand by for 6 hours it loss 50% from charging with radio switch-on and if I switch-off the radio it loss 2% from charging so I think there is some problem in the Radio pls can anyone help me
really I am so confused with this problem
The only thing that I can think of would be if you were in an area where there is weak 3g signal and the phone if constantly getting on and then Falling off the 3g network.
There are a couple of other threads in this forum all about excessive battery drain, one about excessive drain with screen off, although not specifically about radio, so possibly post this into one of them.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
I just use the 2G network
I ask if I update the radio may be the problem will solved ? and how can do that ?
pls to advise me
To upgrade the radio currently with S-ON you can find the HTC/official ROM with the latest revision radio. This would be a little trial and error, install it with the goldcard method and see if it helps. Another idea, if you are just using 2g, have you set the mobile network to GSM only instead of GSM/WCDMA? It may be worth a shot.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Even on 2G only, I think the drain can be severe in an area with very poor signal, because the phone uses much more energy than normal trying to contact a mast.
If you look at Settings > About phone > Battery > Battery use, you would normally expect the display to be the greatest drain on the battery; but in an area with very bad (almost non-existent) signal, you might expect to see Cell standby at over 50%.
In the building where I work, almost no radio signal gets through, so most of us here find our phones reporting "Emergency calls only" and prompting to choose a network.
But even there, I'm only losing about 25% in six hours. The phone gets quite warm though: about 38 degrees C - in airplane mode, it's down to 33 degrees.
I've stopped most things from syncing too much though. Do you perhaps have some apps synchronizing very often (and which therefore do very little when the radio is off) ?

your phone is way too warm unless the room temp is close to that as well.
I already switch-off all synchronizing and did factory reset and try to put on GSM only but the problem didn't solve yet
I thing may be the radio version not compatible with my network or something like this so I ask if can find another version of radio or make upgrade with my phone in S-ON
Hi guys
The problem had been solved as when I replaced the SIM the problem disappeared so I think the problem was in my SIM
thanks for every one who support and help me
I want to say that this phone is great and one of batter HTC phone that released so I hope for more support from XDA

OH WHAT!!!
Makes me want to cry..
Anyone suggest any fix?
call *#*#4636#*#* and then "telefon info", there u should be able to change it
I cannot make a call with the Desire S in the area where my ancient LG PHONE has no problems with the signal.
So, what is the Desire S? Just a toy?
I am disapointed.

Hi everyone
I have an issue, when I'm on my office the network signal isn't strong so when my One S go to "NO NETWORK" after it don't go back to network.
When the situation is this I can't go to airplane mode, change operator (from settings), the only thing that work is shut down and restart (no fastboot).
Anyone else have this problem?
Maybe is a software bug?
I have the Paul recovery and su
EDIT: More info
That don't happen every time that the phone go to "no network".
I think that happen when it a weak signals and are under 2G network.
there are users with similar issues, I only use 2G networks. If i want to do a bit of browsing i will manually change to auto mode, but other than that i always leave it at 2G..
hopefully there will be a radio upgrade soon that should fix this problem...
I'm suffering from the same behavior!
I'm still with the original ROM with no ROOT so I contacted HTC about it yesterday.
I got today their reply today:
"On your phone, kindly go to settings > mobile network > Network mode, kindly change the network mode and check how the signal will respond to each of them.
-Kindly try a different SIM card, to check whether the issue is with the SIM card or the phone itself.
- Soft reset for the device by pressing the power button for 10 seconds.( Note that soft reset erases any unsaved data.)
- Safe mode(which disables any 3rd party application which might be causing conflicts for your device.) for the device by Switching power on , then press and hold volume down when the quietly brilliant logo appears on your screen, you should see 'safe mode' text written on the bottom left of your home screen.
- Factory data reset, kindly backup your data before proceeding with this step please as you will
lose every data on the phone's memory.
Please go to Settings > storage > Factory data reset > Reset phone."
I haven't done anything yet and I didn't notice the 2G issue you mentioned.
I also haven't got this issue for the last 48 hours but did encountered it twice (!!!) on Sunday while driving across the country.
I'll try having the Network on 3G only and see if that matters although the area I leave in is not with good 3G reception.
GSM is 2G
WCDMA is 3G
i use GSM only unless im using the net
I'm aware to the 2G-3G difference
I'm on WCDMA preferred so my phone tries to be on 3G.
My phone also suffers from the 3G<->H data connection jumps while the desire wasn't having any with the same provider (different SIM of course).
sorry, My bad !!
i understand what your saying now
I cant confirm much as my provider doesnt have 3g signals in my area
If i try to use 3g at my home, I have 0 bars thats why i always use 2g
I switched to 3G only (since I have most of the time 3G and surly wants it for the data rate).
I know I have on my way to work and back places with 2G only but I'll give it a try for the coming days and reply.
BTW, just few minutes ago, while having 3G active for sure (before the 3G only switch when it was still on 3G preferred) I couldn't make any phone call although I had 4-5 bars and data connection was running.
Two days ago I tried to change my sim.
Before I had a cutted microsim, now an original microsim and the issue is still present.
Yesterday I had this problem only in afternoon, not in morning and only where the switch from no network -> 2G -> 3G is very very frequent.
In all other times out from office I never had this issue.
I also changed SIM with no help, stayed in 3G network only with no help and observed that when such a network crash happened, GPS reception is also disconnected!
I had no coverage situations with the 3G only mode which recovered, but what we are facing is a network "crash".
Our situation was escalated to technical support of HTC after I wrote them all the data and they tried to solve it over the emails w/o success.
Same problem for me. I tried only 2G, 2G/3G, only 3G, but no way..same problem..i hope an update can solve this..
I just bought my new One S from T-Mobile yesterday and everything appeared to be okay but now I can barely get it to hold a signal. Forget throwing it on GSM only because it will have signal for a whole few seconds before dropping it. I also am having Wi-Fi issues as well. It just intermittently drops the connection there as well... Not a great start!
whether im imagining this or not im not sure, But for me it seems like, When the Network signal increases, the WiFi signal drops, And when the WiFi signal Increases, the Network signal drops...
ive been noticing this for over a week now, So it cant just be coincidence..
I dont think my (or our) handset is faulty, I just think theres a pretty big bug in the ROM, and no matter if you switch ROMs they all use the same base at the moment..
This phone has great potential. But HTC need to be listening to us and release some updates. !!

I noticed the same exact issue last night. My phone will go to full signal before dropping whichever connection. I'm just glad this phone can handle staying on 4G without draining the battery like crazy although I can only imagine how much further it'd go with 2G.

Exactly the same here. But I had a different WIFI issue - WIFI won't drop but stay connected - even if I am far away off the AP.

that one is also a known bug.
On top of that, WiFi will sometimes stuck at "error" status with no ability to turn it on...
All probably related to the same network chip driver or "Radio"...
I have same network reception problem. When I am in a poor reception area it loose reception all of a sudden and takes a while before getting the signal back. I often toggle flight mode to force network detection. I also think the reception bars don't reflect reality; sometimes it seems I have good 3G reception but cannot surf the web. I fear it is a critical bug. The phone seems unable to handle correctly signal fluctuations and protocol changes (GSM, 3G, HSDPA).
I'm colletting more data about this problem.
First of all I don't have any wifi issue, or maybe I don't see this.
I have a modem with N standard and one with G standard and nothing of this have issue.
About the network issue in this days I never have, only when I'm in office and the signal suck a lot.
Q: Anyone that have Tmobile/mod rom with 1.70 RUU have this issue?

I don't have wifi issue at work with a powerful 802.11n network AP but experienced occasional fake/unstable/disconnect wifi at home with a poor AP which operates on no-one-knows-but-definitely-not-N network. I don't really bother too much cos I can always turn wifi off and on to reconnect.
In terms of 3G/H signal switching problem, yes, a bit annoy especially when playing online game on 3G but accessing internet is fine just need to sometimes wait a bit longer.
I am on international unbranded version in UK.
I've the same problem in France about 3G/2G and wifi on international unbranded version.
Does anyone get problems with the data connection hanging? Every hour or two I seem to have to turn data off and back on again to get it to work. When it hangs, only the upload arrow seems to work, and the download arrow does nothing. Also when I turn the data off after it hangs, the data connection seems to take 30 seconds or so to disappear, so I suspect it's crashed. I have had this on a number of android phones over the years, and it's a shame my G Pro 2 is doing the same. The only phone I have ever had that never did it was the iPhone 5s. I have googled it and it appears to be a fairly common problem and some people say it could be the radio stack. I thought about turning the auto mode to 3G only in the mobile networks settings to see if that helps, I'll report back and let you all know.
My LG G Pro 2 display seems to have started flickering every so often and normally when it happens, the screen brightness won't go above 80% and it says it's due to temperature increases. It has been hot in the UK the last few days but as we speak it's around 18 Celsius where I am and it's still doing it. Phone gets warm quickly after not using it for a while, even when I am just lightly browsing the internet with screen brightness set to 30%. It sounds like it's faulty. Anyone had this problem?

Hi,
i had an HTC One X+ with which i faced the exact same issue. Turned out issue with something called fast dormancy. After i rooted and installed a custom rom i had access to disabling it.(sometimes its network enabled as well.) However, It worked. Did not face the same issue on my D838.
Try disabling the Fast dormancy option. Last i checked 5457#*838# gives you a hidden service menu with which you might be able to do so. If you are using a F350 then the code is 5457#*350#. (root not required):good::good::good:

Hey,
That happened to me only once. And i live i India (so I'm sure its much hotter here) So what i suggest is to get your device checked and replaced from the service center. Might have gotten a faulty piece. That might also solve the 3G problem (unless its the network)
Another option is to try and reinstall stock ROM(after a factory reset of course if it works). If its a software issue then it should work.
All the best :good:
Hello,
I have a problem with my OPO that has been going on for months now (I suspect it's hardware based? but not sure)
My opo can always connect to 2g network
My opo can only connect for a limited time to 3G/4G networks. If i change the network type, I get internet alright for about an hour or so. After some time or event (can't find a pattern), the phone is suddenly disconnected from mobile internet (even though data is ON), but my reception indicator is full. I also cannot place calls or get called: when I try calling, I get either a textbox "network unavailable" or the call attempt just ends on it's own without result. I'll call this state "fake 4g"
Here's what I have already tried:
-reboot, flash other rom, factory reset
-downgrade and upgrade TWRP back again
-messing around with 4636 (but i think i haven't tried switching to US band and back to EU - i'm from europe). Note: the interface shows precisely one cell tower when i'm connected to fake 4g
-going back full stock (flashing a version of cm prior to YOGPAS1N0) in order to update the radio. I even installed oxygen at some point
-pulling a logcat. However, this problem (other than the fact that i have only have a basic grasp of IT) is that I cannot exactly pinpoint WHEN fake 4g occurred without looking at the screen/placing a call. I managed to determine fake 4g came up between 4:55 and 5:46, which is still a heck of a logcat. In order to generate some logcat chatter, i've placed a few unsuccessful calls during fake 4g period (i've pinpointed those logs)
Does anyone have any idea as to the cause of this bug (not entirely sure it's hardware based because it works, well, sometimes...)? Or can anyone maybe tell me what to look for in that 50 minute logcat? I guess I can always have another logcat run in the weekend and check every 5 mins until i can spot fake 4g happening.
Note: I haven't opened it to check whether the antenna is plugged or anything (not that i would see much, i think). Anyway, i can always do it if need be.
Thanks in advance
I have been having a similar problem, the LTE range keeps fluctuating from zero to 3/4th to full from time to time, even when the phone is lying stable. Range appears well when on 3g. It isn't sim card based as iv'e tried various sim ,phone combinations.
Also i have noticed many topics appearing in the past few months regarding network issues ... some kind of a pattern ?
Ah yeah I forgot to mention that I tried the simswap trick too, to no avail.
So you're suggesting the hardware antenna might be of poor quality, that might be the case. If so, I suppose the antenna cannot be easily changed (ie incorporated in mobo or whatever).
Does anyone know whether antennae are prone to fail in general?

Nope.If there hasn't been anything that could damage the hardware,no.
Have you tried changing firmwares?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/firmware-modem-oneplus-one-t3462214
Even i am facing the similar kind of problem and posted my question here https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/internet-issues-intermittently-unable-t3714911. One more thing to note is if you try tethering with laptop the internet works just fine (it happens with my device) . Even i have tried many combination with 4636 interface but i really can't understand the reason behind it.
Flash latest modem firmware... Then *#*#4636#*#* ..then on phone change signal to 3g only or LTE only..
Helped me from losing signal
This happened very often, when mobile signal is weak the phone will stuck in HDPSA (H/H+) with no internet and finally lose its entire signal, even later moved to a better signal area. I have missed a lot phone calls / messages when this happens, have 3 different brand new Note 20 ultra replaced by warranty all have this problem. Can confirm this is not network or SIM card related as when swap the SIM back to Note 10 plus it is just working fine as it should be (3 days while waiting for replacement using the same SIM living in the same area). Put the phone into flight mode and turn it back can solve the problem however the difficult thing is you won't know when this will happen and for the price tag, it seems it should be this kind of problem with it.
This issue seems also with S20 release too, for years the issue is still there, anyone have the same issue or can help?

Hi Thanks for the recommendation so dose that mean to use this tool to manually force the phone to stay on a certain type of band? (eg not using HSDPA?) . I was thinking this would be fully automatic as it is a basic function of a mobile phone
I've installed and will give it a try next time the signal is lost.

Yes you can force the phone to use a certain band, and yes the phone should be doing this automatically but you can use this as a workaround and maybe a future update will solve the problem for you
