iGo8 Custom Startup and Background - General Topics

I wanted to share this information. I recently was able to change the loading screen and add backgrounds to iGo8(I know I'm not the first one). Thought I would share what I did in case anyone else is interested. Also, have attached a screenshot of the startup screen I used(there is also a matching background to tie it all in). Also attatched is my "branding.zip" file and zip with 240x320 background.bmp/loading.bmp. If you like what I did you can just use mine. This is for 240x320 and 320x240 qvga sizes only(I deleted all other files). Follow link for "data.zip".
Here is what I did:
1.) I did a google image search and found a picture that I liked. Downloaded and saved as a bitmap file
2.) Resized the picture to 240x320. This would depend on your screen size.
3.) Made a copy and named it "loading.bmp"
a.)Optionally, I used photo software to add the iGo logo ( I used pocket artist)
4.) Copied "data.zip" and "branding.zip" to my computer (Keep a backup copy)
5.) Using winRAR, I opened "branding.zip" and found \ui_igo8\240x320 and added "loading.bmp" to the archive overwriting the original "loading.bmp"
6.) Using winRAR again, opened "data.zip" and found \ui_igo8\240x320\background
a.)added my resized bitmap image to this folder(named mine "blueflames.bmp")
b.)while I was at it, I got rid of everything I didn't need such as backgrounds and other files for screen sizes I did not need. Went from 12mb to 5mb(saving all the room I can)
c.)have read that this can be done alternately by adding folders "ui_igo8\240x320\background" to the "igo8" folder on sd card. This did not work for me.
7.) Copied "data.zip" and "branding.zip" back to sd card overwriting the originals(make sure to keep copies just in case, something I forgot to do)
8.) Abracadabra when you start iGo8 you get a fresh new loading screen and background

I searched for a place to post this but did not find what I was looking for. If I'm in the wrong place let me know, move it, remove it, or just shoot me.
As I said before, I know I'm not the first to figure this out. And I'm in no means a genius or programmer. I was so happy the first time I started iGo8 up and saw my own screens that I had to share with somebody. Let me know if I can help with anything(to the best of my ability). Let me know if I missed something.
NOW WITH LANDSCAPE:Slight change on landscape as could not resize without distortion. Turned original background and splash.

More iGo info
Just something else I have found. My iGo was taking forever to load, so I removed some of the custom poi's that I had as well as everything else I did not need(other states, poi's from other states) and stored them on my computer. When I need them, I can put them back.
Since doing this, it now loads just as fast as TomTom7(if not faster). Just in case anyone is interested.

Matching Splash for Opera Mobile
Here's a matching splash screen for opera mobile for anyone that likes the blue flames and wants everything to look alike. Unzip "opera_splash.zip" into \program files\opera9 overwriting the existing files. Make a copy of existing files first in case you want to revert back to original without reinstalling.

Loading.bmp fails to load, Igo8 aborts
Hi,
Using the information in this thread, I tried to replace the bitmap used during loading and as background. My bitmap works very well as background, but during loading I get an load error message.
Looking at the original loading bitmap, I found that the file is 2 bytes longer than it normally should be. 320 * 240 * 3 + 54 ( bitmapfileheader and bitmap informationheader) = 230454, whereas the actual file size = 230456.
A program like Windows Viewer displays the original file correctly, as it does with my own files.
Also the blueflames bitmap fails to load.
I use IGO8 8.0.035389.
Does somebody have an idea what is going wrong?
Harry

May need update
I am using an updated version 8.0.0.49545 which may explain the difference. Do you have access to the content manager which allows you to get updates? There was a bug fix in the september release that could help. Also, what device are you using? If you dont have access for updates, PMme and I can direct you to an updated version. Make sure your image is the correct size, make sure you convert to bitmap and not just change name. I think I just used MSPaint to open my jpeg and saved it as a bmp. I'll try to do what I can to help. Ijust assumed since it worked great on my device it would be universal. You didnt change anything else in branding.zip?

Loading bitmap problem
Hi,
My PDA is a MIO P350. My bitmap is really a Windows bitmap. Note, that also blueflames didn't load. No other changes were made to Branding.zip. Please send me the update.
Harry

in sys.txt you can add
[loading]
show_statustext=1
show_progressbar=1
progressbar_x=85
progressbar_y=120
loading_bmp="loading.jpg"
make sure a loading.jpg that fits your screen size is placed in
data.zip\ui_igo8\320_240 further since show_progressbar is enabled ( =1)
a loading_progress_bar.bmp is needed in data.zip\ui_igo8\320_240
This worked with igo 8.3xx

"Failed to open file"?
Dear mates,
When I switched to iGO 8.3.4, copying the Data, BRANDING and SYS files to my SD card, I got the error message on start: "Failed to open file: igo\800_480\loading.bmp. Exiting application."
Still when I am using the new files except the data.zip(using my old data.zip - from iGO 8.3.2 I had) the program is OK. But when I try to use the new data.zip - the program crashes with the error above ?
Please help !
Best Regards

Hi jmckeejr, hi mates,
I tried to change the loading picture too with a car logo but it did not succeed. I downloaded your branding file and it works flawlessly, however, I already use iGO 8.3.4.117940.
Then I tried to do this: opened the branding.zip, changed the loading.bmp to mine and compressed it again, copied it back to the device, but it doesn't recognize the file, loads with a grey road-like image. Could somebody help me to get a car logo to work? I made these steps with the original branding file and with yours too.
Thx
as

start screen for Igo 8.3.4
For Igo 8.3.4 it doesn't work that way, changing the splash screen for 240x320 portrait resolution actually goes like this:
1. leave data.zip and branding.zip as they are and just create a new folder in the igo root folder and name it "ui_igo8" (usually it doesn't exist)
2. create a new subfolder in the new created folder "ui_igo8" and name it "240_320"
3. Create a loading.jpg file with 240x320 resolution - any photo editor is good, and put it in the SD/Igo/ui_igo8/240_320
4. create a loadingprogressbar.jpg that looks like a ribbon with a resolution of 120x10 (or search one on google)
5. write in your sys.txt file found on the Igo root folder the following lines:
[loading]
show_statustext=0
show_progressbar=1
progressbar_x= 130
progressbar_y=230
loading_bmp="loading.jpg"
loading_progressbar="loadingprogressbar.jpg"
6. turn on IGO and after splash screen is shown you will figure out what the loading bar position is, if needed just adjust its location changing the progressbar_x and progressbar_y values in sys.txt
Here is an archive http: // tinyurl.com / 3ejnedt with needed folders and files, just copy it on your Igo root folder and extract everything there.
Hope it helps!
I didn't figure out how changing the exit splash screen (which is the same with the original start splash screen) works, if somebody knows lets hear it!

[Q] How to delete font (youyuan.ttf)? WM 6.1 Hurricane. Tried obvious routes.

Sorry for the long title thread, wanted to get all the basics in, hoping people won't skim by another 'help.running out of mem' type thread title.
To break it down a little more fully...
HTC Hurricane (badged up as Orange C550)
SIM and APP unlocked
Recently upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.1 (using ROM and instructions here)
The amount of Storage memory is very low 1.7-2Mb
In terms of additional software installed to the phone, and NOT the storage card, I only have QuickReset (6Kb)
6.38Mb of the available 17.95Mb for storage memory is taken up by one font in the /windows/ (not windows/fonts/) directory - youyuan.ttf . I believe this is a chinese (simp?trad?) font, which came installed with the custom ROM (selang09's wm 6.1 - see thread link above).
What I have tried (after googling and searching here and over at modaco)
deleting the font (Resco Explorer, Windows Explorer from PC)
renaming the font with a new extension youyuan.ttf > youyuan.txt
adding to the font's extension youyuan.ttf > youyuan.ttf.txt
moving the font to another folder, rebooting and deleting from there (wouldn't actually move the font in the first place, only copy)
edit the registry and remove all references to the font, reboot and try same steps above
The first four methods were all solutions I found online that others had recommended when font file removal had been an issue. The fifth I just thought I should try before posting here. The only issue is that some of the apps now have squares rather than chinese symbols - not a problem as I couldn't understand the correct symbols. I've gotten by with random menu selections so far
Am I missing an obvious trick? I'd really like to be able recover some more storage memory, some apps aren't running due to low disk space, when they use temp files etc.
If I've missed out anything information wise, please do let me know.
If I should have read something properly, and the fix is a 5 second job, feel free to take mick, but do please reply if you know how to delete/amend this file.
Many thanks.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for where to look for an answer? I've tried on this forum, general googling and also over at modaco.
Am I approaching this in the wrong manner?
With less than 2Mb free for storage, with nothing else I can find that I could remove, I'm often hitting problems with programs and games trying to place temporary files there whilst being run, and crashing out. Installing anything (obviously onto the storage card) requires finding the CAB file for it, and copying over manually, as otherwise, using Activesync to install in the normal manner, CABs seem to be temporarily stored in Storage, even before you get to the point of being asked where you want to actually install it.
If not delete, is there any way I can set a command to run before the GUI is too far loaded, that would make the file 0 bytes? As I don't use chinese characters, and have removed reg. references to it, I'd not be losing any functionality.
PS Waited until this thread slipped off the front page before bumping, hope this is considered polite enough around here...
No one ever had any idea how to sort this? I eventually discovered that a hard reset and not re-importing my old SMS etc freed up more memory, but I was surprised that no one had encountered this and found a solution?

so from what i understand is that every time you delete the font it comes back after a reboot?
Thanks for responding. No, I am simply unable to delete the font in the first place. I've tried all the steps I mentioned in the first post, I think I was either using Total Commander or Resco Explorer. I tried removing the reg entries referring to the ttf file in case they caused the file to be locked, but to no avail.

[APP] Microsoft MS reader working on HD2

Hi everybody I didn't find anything about this in other threads, so I post here the files necessary for a perfect visualization of MSreader on HD2.
install via active sync (on SD card) the file "MSreader PPC ITA.exe", it will create a "windows" folder on the card, open that folder (I don't remember if it contains or not another "MSreader" folder or only files) and copy away all the files in a folder of your choice
uninstall MSreader PPC ITA and install via active sync (on device or SD as you prefer) the file "MSreader WM 6.1.exe", it will create his own folder in your program folder, then soft reset.
go to the folder where you previously saved first installation files and copy everything in your new MSreader program folder and accept overwriting, then soft reset
You should have the reader working perfectly, in italian language and 4 font size option instead of 3.
If you want it in another language (not verified)
download the 2.4.1 version from microsoft website , install it instead of PPC ITA version and follow other steps.
It should be working in the chosen language, I'm not shure cause the PPC ITA version I attached is an older version I think..
The only bug I found is that installing the reader is disabled the pdf files preview in documents tab (tested only on ROM Artemis 9) ..so give a try and report.

EDIT: for those who use BOOKLIB to manage the library and want to open msreader directly from it I think it' necessary to install firstly the WM version of MSr on device and then simply overwrite using the PPC version. Otherwise when you try to open a .lit book via booklib it won't be able to find MSreader..
works also in landscape using an app that makes rotate the screen.
PLToggle seems the best cause works on request, autorotation is not suggested due to the long loading time of the reader.
I used AEButton plus, unfortunately has some issues with button mapping on WM 6.5.x (with WM6.5 ROM I mapped the volume buttons for MSreader page up-down -EDIT: volume button issue seems solved, see here ) but rotation option works and I mapped the start and back button for page up-down . If You make a search into this forum there are other light apps for screen rotation that can be used.
You need some patience when rotate MSreader, it needs half a minute for big files before you can manage them, because the app is reloading all the .ebo annotation file with the landscape format (same when you go back to portrait).
If someone wants to use another reader such as Freda but has a massive .lit ebook collection and doesn't want to lose it and wants something easier and faster than Calibre conversion to epub format software, there's Convert LIT a very good an fast conversion software that starting from a .lit file creates a html file with related images in a single folder named as the ebook, all you have to do is copy that folder in Freda library.
When you open Freda library you have to allow the search in subfolders and yuo'll find your new html books.. open one and you'll have it with images and hypertextual links!
thanks! nice job
EDIT:
any other bug found/solved?

it works, it is a PC installer file:
-connect your hd2 to PC using active sync
-run MSreader PPC ITA.exe on your desktop
-follow instructions on desktop and device screen
Thank you for your effort and sharing ..
I hope you can excuse me If I ask a newbie question :
why I should do all those steps ? is the application not free?

No, it's free, but microsoft abandoned this project ,so there is not a version for latest windows mobile.
installing only the WM 6.1 version on new devices gives fonts and visualization issues.
Installing as described in post #1 avoid that issues, it results a sort of improved merged version, without leaving installation files in windows folder.

[HOWTO] Guide for Replacing Carousel Icons With HIGH RESOLUTION icons

}
4. Run Script.bat
5. Type 22 and then chose the apk you would like to edit, once that is done then next use option 1 to extract the apk
6. Browse over to the project folder and look for your extracted apk
7. Now head into
res/drawable-mdpi/ and locate the icon.
*Note* Some APKs do not have this folder, the icon may also be located in
res/drawable/ or
res/drawable-hdpi
8. Go online and find a high resolution icon, then use photoshop or any image editor to cleanup and resize the icon to 192x192
9. Once you have the hi res version of the icon go ahead and replace the lower resolution one.
10. In APK Manager, choose option 3 (Zip apk),
then option 2 (Regular apk <Removes signature for re-signing>)
11. Once that competes it will take you back to the main menu of APK Manager, Now choose option 4 (Sign apk <Dont do this if its a system apk>)
12. If everything was successful you should now see two apks in your modding folder
13. Take the signed version of the apk and adb push it to your device, dropbox it, or copy to kindle using usb cable
14. Uninstall version if already installed and then install your modified version.
(Trying to install over a installed version results in a failure for me)
15. Icon should be nice and high res!

Nice dude! Link is up.
Does this method require a rooted device? I followed your instructions for the Facebook APK and every time I try to install it I get an error: "There was a problem parsing your file."
Try installing the current facenook app. If that doesn't work. Idk ive only tried on rooted
I pick my apps and the compression size but now when i hit extract the command prompt closes which i assume it should. But, there is nothing showing up in my projects folder.
screw it. if someones got the modified apk for draw something post it here please. free version of course.

hi, I am a new user for Kindle Fire HD, and i tried to follow the same routine to mod the Dolphin Browsers app to get a clear carousel icon.
after i change 1 icon in the apk to 256x256, and install it again, sth strange happened.
The dolphin browser icon NEVER shows again in the Carousel.....
It never shows up again after use....
does anyone have clues that how can I make that icon appear on my carousel again?
i have tried to reinstall the original apk , newer version apk, rebooting many times, but still not appear after use.....
thanks in advance!
Update: Found a solution to this. Tried to kill the "launcher" service by a task managing app, (AirDroid) thinks any of these app will do, and guess even the official "force stop" button under the application menu might work also.
After that, when the launcher restart, Icons showing properly! Thanks for the Guide!
This is a great thread, now got high-res icons for most of my apps, some are hard to find images for or just don't have any decent ones to use, mainly found that to be games, also I've found replacing & rebuilding/signing some apps have a really negative affect on them, games such as Riptide GP boot up slower or some just don't load, Cut the Rope won't play it's intro video etc.
Come across this as well - developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire/cx-guidelines.html
Amazon recommends 425x425 for the KFHD 7" carousel image, that's what size I've been using & most look really nice & crisp depending on the original image quality, 256x256 I found too pixelated on the carousel but maybe that's just me
If anyone want's them I've zipped up my images I've used on my KFHD 7", not a huge amount by any means but could be helpful to some.
Most of the images are resized from 512x512 to 425x425 PNG so look great on the KFHD, a very small number are lower resolution (256x256) due to their being no higher quality versions available on the internet that I could find.
rghost.net/42367507
Also ImageTuner is a pretty decent program to resize/convert images in bulk to different sizes etc.
Hello, I'm having a problem signing the apk. It says there's an error and to check the log, and when I do, it says that the unsigned apk cannot be found. So I started checking and at first it does appear, but as soon as I try to sign it disappeared. Also, I tried the 20 option, by changing the max memory size to 256 as you suggested but it did not work.
Cannot download
I cannot download from your multiupload links, it directs me to iLivid.

Problems signing the apk
Have followed the procedure step-by-step and I get an error at step 11 after I select '4' to sign the apk. Have also tried increasing the max memory to 256 as suggested - still no luck.
Any other suggestions?
As a desperate alternative, I zipped the apk (at step 10) then selected '1' (instead of '2') so that I have an unsigned apk sitting in my modding folder, with a view to getting it signed using Sign+_v1.2.2 - this leaves me with a signed apk file but when I try to install it on my Kindle Fire HD, I get a parsing error.
Any help from anybody GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance

[GUIDE] How to edit App Icons Manually

Oh well, if you're like me that loves to do the things I could do the hardcore geeky way without the help of apps and tools, unless obviously using an app will save you a lot of time, then you're on the right thread.
Anyway this will be my first howto guide on xda-dev, please be nice . This will be a noob to noob guide, taking every step into consideration. If you've got any issues getting it done, please don't hesitate to leave a comment, so let's have a ride to geekville.
As you'd know, changing app icons is something every lover of awesome interface and design can't do without, and we've got Android Launchers that will do this for you on the go, but really, they just change the icons of the apps in the drawer and not globally, for example, Whatsapp's icon changed with a launcher only changes in the app drawer and not the entire whatsapp ecosystem, even worse, the minute you revert back to your stock launcher, it changes to the original icon.
Here's an illustration:

As you can see in the image above, its the same es file explorer app but different icons, that's going to be our goal in this guide, changing the icons globally, if you changed the icon with a launcher, you'll only get your new icon replaced in the app drawer. So let's change our first icon.
Requirements.
A PC.
Apk Icon Editor By kefir500
iConvert Icons for Windows
Java Runtime Environment for signing the resulting apk by Apk Icon Editor. You can get it here.
An icon you'd like to replace for the old one.
Your time.
iConverticons.com actually does have an icon converter for the mac platform but since Apk Icon Editor is written in C++ for the Windows platform , what's the point? . Also the iConverticons utility does have a free version, don't know why they had to hide it on the site, you can just grab the free one from softpedia anyway, only costs you 10 seconds on every startup of the app.
Once you're done downloading the files from the links above, run their respective setups and grab any .apk file you'd like to try out in your android's
Code:
/data/app/
directory, (you're pro'lly going to need root access to mess with this directory, but you can always grab any .apk elsewhere).
1. Copy the .apk file to anywhere on your pc.
2. Now, get the icon you'd like to replace ready, it could be in the same path as your .apk file, doesn't matter, but preferrably go for a 512px icon size, you'll be glad you did. I'll be replacing the stock whatsapp icon with a flatter alternative by DtafAlonso on DeviantArt.
3. Start up the iConverticons app, then wait for its 10 seconds delay thing, before we create the icons, we need to modify the preferences for the conversion output, make yours match the images below.
4. Next, drag and drop the icon you want replaced in the iConverticons app, this will be followed with a dialog of where you want the resulting icons replaced, choose the folder you created earlier as the output folder and in about a second you should see a "Done" message.
5. Now go to that folder where the outputs from the conversion was saved, you should now see a set of icons in different folders namely xxhdpi, xhdpi, hdpi, ldpi and mdpi.
6. Start up apk-icon-editor.exe, then drag and drop your .apk file into the app's workspace, you'll get a progress bar showing that the package is being extracted and the contents of the AndroidManifest.xml file.
7. You will now see the original whatsapp icons in this window, Select the right icon size/dpi on the right, and then Right Click > Replace Icon ..then select the right icon size from the right conversion folder. The icon is replaced immediately, do these for the other sizes of the icons, you can choose to make the icons stay at just one size even on small devices, (just make sure you choose not to resize it if the editor asks if you want the icon resized).
8. Once you're done, Click "Pack Apk" and choose the destination folder you'd want your new apk file saved. You can choose to overwrite the previous one or have a copy of it named anything you like[dot]apk.
9. Then copy the new .apk file to your phone's sdcard and uninstall the app if it was present on your phone already, (installing the same app on your phone will cause the installation to fail), then install it.
Now you have a unique icon for that app.
NOTE: If you're curious as to why the original .apk file and the new one have different sizes, this is caused by the size of the icons you used, so for example, you might have an original size of 15.6MB and a new size of 15.45MB. one more thing, I have noticed apps like BBM misbehave when you touch their app icons something about them having conflicts with how the package was signed, so you can try this out with other apps apart from BBM and please tell me what apps break for you when you try it.
Does this work for the latest version of whatsapp? Version 2.16.259
Does this work for the latest version of whatsapp Version 2.16.259?
I tried to use a couple apk editor apps which have not worked. When you replace the original apk Whatsapp does not let you log in it seems like it checks with their server whether the apk is legitimate or not.

Pictures Date Order Issue

So I used Samsung Smart Switch to change from my s7 edge to the s8+ which I absolutely love. However there is one annoyance, in Instagram and snapchat when importing from gallery it shows all my pictures in random order instead of chronological order, it's almost like it's reversed in snapchat and completely random in Instagram. Anyone else have this issue?

Yep everytime i switch phones this happens. New photo taken with the phone should be on top tho but any old photos will be randomly thrown together.
Did this to me as well but all my images are stored on my SD card and I just simply transferred between phones. Maybe it has something to do with the order in which it read the files in memory to create the cache that causes the change in order.

No way to fix it. Atlest with all the phones ive had i havent found a way.
However new photos will be on too from this point on.
Found this solution in a Samsung Forum:
"Theory behind photos date"
If you did not change the file name it should be written in a way which indicates the year, day and month as well as the precise hour and minute when it was take. This applies to all kind of photos (from every single camera, not only phone ones) and to screenshots, but does not apply to whatsapp photos since only the year, day and month is indicated in the name followed by 000xx where xx indicates in which order you received the photos sent on the same day.
Methods to fix the photo date
Both methods i will show you embed metadata files into the photo, so it will never change the date if it is moved between devices or sd cards!
Method 1:
You can, if you have windows 10 photos program in your pc look at the name of the photo and click on the 3 vertical dots at the top right hand side of the pc screen and then click on file info. The date is now shown at the left of the picture and you can permanently modify that by hand. If you have many photos to modify use method 2. Method 1 is good if you have a few photos to edit or you have to edit a video date, for the other use case go to the notes at the end.
Method 2:
The program i personally use is EXIF date changer* you can dowload it from the developer website here , it should work on windows XP, vista, 7, 8.1, 10. As you can see they offer a free version and a paid version, the free version allow you to fix unlimited amount of photos without having more nieche features, so it is more than enough for what you need to do, so dowload the free version unless you want to support the developer or you need the pro features.
*i want to specify that i have no affiliation with the developer and that i am suggesting their app because i use it myself and it works perfectly. there are other programs which do the same thing if you like others more you can use them.
After you have dowloaded and installed EXIF date changer on your pc move all the photos from your sd card into a folder on you desktop (you can now delete all the photos from the sd card, but i highly recommend you not to delete the desktop copy till you have verified at the end of the procedure everything has gone well, that folder is your only backup!).
Step 1: choose with the button marked with 1 in the photo the folder which contains your pictures* the destination folder will automatically become a folder called adjusted which is created by the program and placed into sourced folder, you can leave it as it is or you can change it if you want, this is your personal preference.
Step 2: in the time difference page (2) select the voice set time/date from (3) and then date in filename (4).
*when choosing the folder there are different scenarios: if your folder hierarchy is like DCIM with inside camera and screenshot folders, the app will look for pics in the DCIM camera but not in the folders inside so it will process no photos, you must choose a folder which has photos directly in it, the photos in subfolders will not be processed and you will have to repeat the process manually afterwards!

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 3: click on options (5) and the only think marked should be "Set file date to taken date" this will ensure than the photo date will be embedded into metadata with the same date shown in the filename and will avoid strange conflicts with some gallery apps which read file date and not taken date. Also remember NOT to mark "use file created date to taken date". There is another option pre marked which you should unmark which is "rename files to"**
**rename files to date option is useful if you have a few photos which have a name modified by you like "photo of mark" but have metadata and so show the correct date of when it was taken. I sugget to tailor use that option singularly on those kind of photos so the date is written in the file name and in case the metadata gets lost you have a backup, however when using the program to bulk change date of incorrect photos i would not advise to do that because it will add that to the name of all pics (which already have the date written in it) and it could be annoying. So use that function only on pre selected groups of photos with the overmentioned issue.
Step 4: check that in the advanced, privacy, filters and upgrade to pro everything is turned off.
Step 5: Hit process photos and wait for it to finish.
Step 6: After it finishes click on open folder or manually navigate indicated in destination folder in Step 1. You can rename that folder as you like (for example if you want it to be the camera folder of the phone rename it DCIM) and transfer it to your phone/sd card.
Step 7: check if all the photos are ok and there are no strange things going on with the date, if something is wrong delete the destination folder (indicated in step 1) and do all the process again. Again DO NOT DELETE THE UNTOUCHED PHOTO FOLDER ON YOUR PC TILL YOU VERIFY EVERYTHING IS OK BECAUSE IT IS YOUR ONLY BACKUP.
At this point all your photos date has been fixed!
Notes:
From my personal experience the photos with no date in filename are not modified by the program so if they have metadata it is not modified (if you marked what is indicated in step 3) and they will be fine, again cosider doing it for those photos only indicated in step 3 **.
If a photo keeps having the same behaviour after this process it is because it has not metadata and no date indicated in filename, so nothing can be automated. The date cannot be recovered via the file, but if you remember when you shot it you can permanently change with method 1.
I hope to have helped everyone!
