AT&T Touch Pro - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Does anyone else have one? I can't even find specs on this damn phone. (pardon my foul language)

why make a new thread when you can read the existing ones? this has already been extensively discussed in other threads. you'll have all the information you asked for

Yea, its called the AT&T Fuze. And google would've helped

AT&T is calling it the "Fuze", so if you search for that you'll find tons of information. A few people have/had prerelease models, but it hasn't been released yet; speculation is for release around Nov. 4, although you'll find some dates +/- a couple of weeks from that. As for specs, they're pretty close to what the Touch Pro has in its original form. The major differences are the omission of the front-facing camera (because AT&T doesn't support videoconferencing), omission of the software (but not the hardware) for the FM radio and TV out functions, addition of a push-to-talk button, and the addition of several AT&T-specific programs. See http://www.htcwiki.com/page/HTC+Fuze+for+AT&T for a preliminary summary sheet.

That Wiki page lists "UMTS (850/1900/ 2100 MHz ) and GSM/ GPRS/ EDGE (Quad-band, 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900 MHz)HSDPA" is that confirmed? That means worldwide 3G for the FUZE? And we still cannot get 3G on the EU TP, go figure!

THere are 2 HUGE threads about the Fuze. Search Whats wrong with you.

What has the world come to?

I just got done reading a PM from someone who bought a used phone. And guess what they had on it, My Vanilla ROM.
Guys if you are going to sell your phones, please flash them back to factory. I dont think its smart to sell it with my rom or any other bleeding edge rom. These releases are still considered to be testing.
I understand your concerns and I agree...but I think that if we (as a community) are sharing ROM's...this is one of those things that is going to happen and we'll have to live with ya know...
agree with j3d1n4s7y (pain to copy out!lol)
and i agree with you nottoosmart.
if the seller didnt make it a selling point then, it shouldnt matter. but if the seller was saying 'oooo loooky here, wm6-rare!!!!!!buy me!' then the seller frankly is an idiot!
"What is the world coming to?" ?
Frankly, I don't see what the issue is. As long as the seller clearly indicates that the phone is running a third-party ROM, such as mUn's, then what's the problem? Undeniably, the person ought mention such information, but that's just an issue falling under the category of normal auction and commerce etiquette (i.e., that one should always disclose any major modifications made to a device).
Most people would be happy to get a phone pre-installed with mUn's ROM (regardless of what it's re-branded as). The functionality and stability of the mUn WM6 ROM you speak of are real and significant improvements over the OEM's ROMs.
This thread seems little more than public boasting.
cheers.

Selling cooked roms
OK, I guess I have to disagree with a lot of you folks here. I think it is a bad idea to sell cooked roms. The problem is with people who are new to pocket pc's and to WM5 and WM6. If you will remember, there is a learning curve to these devices, and the extra complexity of many cooked roms adds to the confusion. Also, where are they going to get help for their questions about WM6? or where do they turn to when their comm manager screen doesn't look like the one in the picture? Is the seller going to offer support? Likely not, probably they will refer them to this forum and they will end up PMing the rom chef indignantly, expecting their help.
Leave the stock rom in place. If you want to unlock the device, fine, but put it back the way you found it. That way the people who buy them know where to turn for support. (Microsoft, or the carrier).
Regards,
Make it Factory!
Heck even if you update to the original carriers latest rom, thats fine. You are doing the next guy a favor. But just think of it this way.
If you DONT flash it back to a factory rom, can you really be sure that you have removed all your personal info from the device?
Ever hear about the 100's of HDs that are bought and sold on ebay without being security wipped? Phone numbers, B-Days, eww its ripe for the identity thief.
If you have taken the time to unlock it and play with it, have the common courtesy to put it back to a carrier supported format.

I got 3 PM's through the forum about support of this. I totally agree with this. Its very similar to the people that are seeing posts in PC Mag, and other places about WM6 roms for the wizard can be found here. They come here and start flashing before they even know what they are doing then start demanding (and yes I mean demanding) people to fix their phone they have now screwed up (I get numerous PM's from people that want me to be their personal support center and tell them step by step how to do things. Most of those PMs get deleted or I will point them to one of the how to threads and not answer further PMs from them. I'll continue to assist people that post in the forums, but am starting to ignore ones that its pretty obvious they haven't even tried looking before asking. I love the ones that ask for where to download a rom, and just a couple of posts above theirs is a link someone posted.

Buying a new phone.. HTC Touch or wait for Kaiser

I looked.. i hope this has not been asked before.
About a month ago I came across my first windows mobile device. This device is the Typhoon. After comming from a line of nokias and moto razrs I quickly fell in love with windows mobile operating phones. Thank god, i used to want an iPhone and after doing the research I now know the error of that way.
I want Touch FLO, I want WM6.
Now this is the dilemma, I have recently been able to save up enough money for a Touch. Should I buy it or wait for the Kaiser?
Here is what I need answered to properly assess this.
The touch seems nice but the idea of the qwerty with 400 mhz processor and more rom/ram plus 3 megapixel camera seems like enough to sell me on a Kaiser.. or is it. Does anyone have any idea of a release date for the Kaiser? I heard sometime in late August? Also how much do we expect to pay for the Kaiser.. $600-$700 any leaked figure I have not read anyone? Does anyone have any idea if it will be possible to put Touch FLO on Kaiser without bricking it? Not fake button flo.. i mean real flawless Touch FLO. I have heard the Kaiser's screen will not allow Touch FLO. Is this true?
Now my questions for the Elf.. Is there any figure on how high it can be overclocked.. i have heard some say 240-260 mhz but I have also read 299 mhz. Anything over 300? Does the elf normally get sluggish in its touch flo interface while running applications?
Would I regret buying the Elf in the near future?
I am sorry for so many questions but everything I read people always say different things. Help!!
Late August or early September seems to be the consensus, at least for its availability in Europe. Note that some carriers will offer their own branded versions (T-Mobile in Germany labels it as the Vario III, Cingular in the US calls it the 8925) -- these versions may be somewhat less expensive (especially the Cingular version, since they subsidize phones by locking you into a contract).
Availability in the US seems a bit more problematic. Kaiser hasn't been certified by the FCC yet. Also, the US currently has an import ban on new devices using Qualcomm 3G chipsets -- the fallout from a intellectual property lawsuit filed by Broadcomm. There's some question as to whether or not Kaiser is subject to this ban.
The TouchFLO software will run on Kaiser -- the demo video at expansys.com shows it in action.
thanks
Thanks man, but any idea about what I was asking on overclocking a touch?

Danger time for Qualcomm/HTC ?

A news report I read today (Thurs Jan 03, 2008) stated that a US Federal Court judge has ruled that Qualcomm must cease immediately selling 3rd generation WCDMA cellular chips that infringe on patents held by Broadcom.
The news report did NOT list which exact chips these are.
So, obvious question: does the P3650 Polaris CPU fall into the "banned for Qualcomm" category ?
Does anyone have reliable, accurate knowledge of which chips are actually affected by this ?
Hi,
I found this article:
http://www.eetimes.com/news/latest/...d=HVYWDP3Q0PICWQSNDLSCKHA?articleID=205206967
It contains the following statement:
"Shipments of chipsets for devices intended for international markets were not affected by the ruling."
Regards,
hqqh
Yes, thank you for that. I'd found 2 other similar reports.
"Shipments of chipsets for devices intended for international markets were not affected by the ruling."
This is a comment from Qualcomm - perhaps Broadcom doesn't believe it !?
The situation seems critical enough. It's very hard to believe any of the reports tell all of the truth.
Read this http://www.broadcom.com/docs/press/12-31-07_Permanent_Injunction_Order.pdf
in brief the MSM7200 chipset (in the polaris) has been banned in the ruling, but as far as I know it only affects devices sold in the US

Oh my God. I got TC only this new year and i am in US. What does that mean if it is banned.... Can any one tell me what should we do if this ban news is correct..
I don't think there will be big problems. Also considering the amount of phones the chipset is in already. Most likely Qualcomm will be using the same chipset with some modifications to avoid legal problems. Or they make a deal and pay some (a lot) of money to continue using the current chipset.
If they are wise they keep most of the stuff the same (it would cost a lot of money to design a completely new chipset). And as I've read it now, the legal problems with the chipset don't include the parts where we have problems with (video driver). Only time will tell... But so far I'm not that worried.
By the way, the ruling als states (as far as I've read) that they can keep on selling the chips to their current partners where they already have a deal with. So there won't be an early end to the HTC phones with this chipset.
a ruling in us only goes in us companys have to sue in every country to enforce patents
so one can just buy a qualcomm based phone from another country then usa have it ship'd that they cant sell them in usa dont mean feds will be comming round collecting know qualcomm owning offenders
But in what country is the HQ of Qualcomm? A quick look at wikipedia shows that's in the US. (or ofcourse I'm looking at another company, who knows )
Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM) is a wireless telecommunications research and development company based in San Diego, California.

That could make it difficult with this ruling. However they would be stupid not to find a solution because it will be difficult for them if they can't continue. They've tried legal action so far and that hasn't payed off. But I can imagine there are still other options they can explore and probably will explore as well.

Thank you for the link to the actual ruling.
Yes, I agree that the ruling is quite clear - the MSM7200 chip (in the Polaris) is subject to patent restriction, but limited to the US. (That is a puzzle in itself). Unless Qualcomm pays Broadcom the prescribed royalties for US-sold products, the Polaris as it is currently fabricated is dead-in-the water in the US.
This is not to say that Qualcomm won't appeal the ruling. My hard experience over many years is that when lawyers and judges become involved, they are the only end-winners.
Qualcomm also maintain that they have pin-to-pin equivalents that do not infringe, but the Polaris as currently manufactured does not use these alternatives.
Now I also wonder at a question I have asked in another thread - UK retailers that are currently claiming stock or "real soon now" stock (eg. Expansys UK) have also recently edited the spec list to quote ONLY 2100Mhz for UMTS in Europe.
The US and other countries (including Aus) use 850Mhz outside the cities. So if we accept that newly-arriving retail stock is limited to 2100Mhz (ie. single, not tri-band) then the UTMS capability is very limited.
And then I lose interest in the thing.
The HTC website still says HSDPA/UMTS: 2100 MHz (Europe), 850/1900 MHz (USA).
Wonder if this will change...it did for the S730 (has the same chipset as the Polaris).

Relax posts 11 and 12. I have the Polaris in my hand right now and it is for sure TRIBAND UMTS/HSDPA and as I like to say for our side of the Pond. I am one of the first in the USA to have this device and it does work very quickly I might add on the US 850/1900MHZ UMTS/HSDPA Band. Buy it for it is the lightest pocket pc/pda/phone on the market and very good looking too. Thanks, Kevin

Thank you for your comment. That is exactly what I have been asking of current owners for 3-4 days now (up till now, no answer).
BUT I will not lay out $$$ until I am absolutely assured that the device as now retailed now is tri-band.
There still remains the distinct possibility that retail stock before and after this court ruling are differently configured.

@ianl8888,
I think truthfully your making a mine out of a molehill. Htc or no oem can change the spec's after a device is released and this whole quaLcomm situation is stll filled with uncertainty and it will take possibly yrs for the courts and lawyer's to resolve. I bought mine just 3 dys ago at www.onthegosolutions.com and they are very reputABLE and I have done bsuiness with them for yrs and you will get the Polaris triband and all I assure you. No one in the country USA has stock now yet they do and it will ship the same day however you like. As for expansys UK, NEVER, REPEAT NEVER GO BY ANYHING THEY SAY OR DO FOR I HAVE DEALT WITH THEM BEFORE AND IT WAS A NIGHTMARE.

Side questions: Am I allowed to use my credit card for multiple back orders? I might have to place another back order with a different retailer if they are really that bad.

They really are that bad and it is a long and complicated story. Deal with Clove Tech and Tell them Kevin Irvine sent you and they will take very good care of your order and keep you up to date about stock pricing etc. A very honest company. Simply put, I sent several e-mails to them to cancel my order for the toshiba g900 when it was first released and they never had the courtesy of a reply back and then out of the blue stock came in and they shipped to me, charged my card illegally and to top it all off did not declare the device properly for US Customs so it was held for days until I not they had to solve the problem. Then when I finally received it I refused delivery and expansys never returned any of fed ex's calls to return the item to them and you probably get the point by now.
Yes, to your first question but be careful here for if the companies your placing your backorder's with get stock on the same day for example your in trouble. Kevin
Sorry to hear about that and I better cancel it then. Cheers for the advice Kevin.

Again, thank you for your comment. I had no doubt that earlier retail supply was tri-band; I have much doubt about later supply - the Court order states "IMMEDIATE STOP ..." and turning off available UMTS frequencies is a fairly simple ROM change. That's not a molehill. Perhaps the ROM cookers here can bypass that !
The only bright spot here is the limitation to US-only sales. Purchasing a fully specced device from elsewhere bypasses that, with the downside of Warranty service also being elsewhere.
I agree with you on marketing - marketers are to be trusted even less than lawyers, if that were possible. UK retailers other than Expansys have also changed the spec list in the last 3-4 days.
Supply is still in the "real soon now" category for most of the world. So we only have to wait for "real soon now".
Lastly, I'm not panicking in the slightest. If the thing really is crippled by Qualcomm's Court-decided patent infringements, that's simply too bad. Another "thing" will turn up eventually, without the rain clouds, in response to demonstrated world-wide demand. But the impact of this Court decision will be felt - we can't yet predict how.
how to check UMTS
Hello Everyone, I am using HTC touch cruise for the last one week and it is such a cool device. got from On the go solutions. But after lots of confusions in the thread, is it any way to check what frequency of UMTS that my phone supports. I m with T-Mobile and there is no 3G. Is there any where can i check.. Please...
Mates, think waht you're discussing 'bout!
Qualcomm is forbidden to sell it's chips - since the beginning of this week!
HTC may have ordered a few 10.000th items of this chip for the polaris which are obviously already delivered.
The polaris is assembled in taiwan.
And last the devices have to be delivered all 'round the world (hee - something like santa hoohoo).
You thing, the time from delivering the chips from qc to htc and the device in the stores is less than one week?
All devices, which are sold till now are fully functional!
All other will do well too ...
Designing a mobile (any so called hightech) lasts several months. If they change the umts-functions they will to it by firmware change they won't be able to simply replace the chip. Or they leave it like it is, maybe some compensation will be payed to Broadcomm.

Unlocking Solution 2014 HTC TouchPro2 Verizon

Hello everyone,
I have recently received an HTC Touch Pro 2 Verizon from my friend who is no longer using it. I have T-Mobile and I want to use it on my network. Unfortunately, the phone is locked to Verizon. Does anyone know if there is a way to unlock the phone for free without contacting Verizon? I searched the forums but the ways that were previously used do not work anymore. (For example, Olipro is not active in the community anymore).
Does anyone have a tool that will unlock it? I know there are others on the fora who would like to unlock their devices as well.
Thanks,
TheAH

Aside from the fact that developers and skilled programmers detest noob questions, and end users (lusers); there is the matter of your question being hashed over umpteen times, herein!
Myself, I would rather a crass answer, than to be ignored.
You should really do the prerequisite reading.
Verizon is a CDMA network operator. T-Mobile is GSM.
The TP2 (Touch Pro 2) usually ships WV (World LOCKED), whereas you want WU (World UNLOCKED). This is part of the "radio" firmware, which runs the cellular radios.
The Sprint (CDMA) branded version ships WV and won't even connect/register on a U.S. domestic GSM network. You can't even dial 911!
The handset also has an FM broadcast radio receiver, but it's not operable via the stock ROM.
Yes you need to be security/SIM unlocked, but you must also be World Unlocked, unless you live close enough to Canada or Me-He-Co, to get their GSM signal, and have one of their GSM chip/cards.
Read about HSPL (Hard Secondary Program Loader), WU radio, and WU unlock...
Maybe if you ask the right QUESTIONS, you'll get the right ANSWERS.
Don't forget that the HTC Touch Pro 2 is ANCIENT, in the world of handsets, and developers have mostly moved on to the newer, shinier devices, to get a chance to "brick" them. Many of the needed files have disappeared from here!

I understand that you need to make other people feel inferior in order to make yourself feel superior. But I believe that you are the true noob here, not only through your limited knowledge about how this device can be unlocked to use on GSM networks IN THE US, but also through your disrespect for other people on these fora. If you want to be rude and disrespectful, go find another forum for idiots who think they know how they can tell others wrong information. Your abysmal 3 posts are worthless and do not contribute to the community. Rather they feed the other trolls lurking behind the curtain of developers who want to share their accomplishments.
You are the stupid and worthless noob that needs to get out of these fora. It seems that 187 other people were smart enough to figure out that you can actually unlock this device. Unfortunately, people like you only hold back human civilization.

I have confirmed that the POCO F1 is 100% hardware locked in its LTE bands. There is no band unlock for 2,4,12 etc. US users are screwed. How they will release this in mexico is beyond me. Attached is an image file displaying that the bands are configured directly into the phone, not just a part of LTE_BC_CONFIG. I'm not gonna scroll down the list but theres information about band powwer delivery, latency, etc. everything that would be required to program and run the hardware, its all there. The bands are not locked by software. ****ing bull****. The modem is the SM845 modem but xiaomi has taken the liberty to indeed limit the radio hardware for sending and receiving more lte bands. So they can sell it to the US for 500 instead of 300. Great
I've been at this for days, I've tried everything, its not gonna work. You may get LTE on band 5 in the US but then again, you may not. Band 4 LTE is 3g anyway, i mean **** it who are we kidding. If this dosen't bother you awesome but I pay for unlimited LTE every month and frankly I'm pissed off. Sorry to crush your dreams fellow americans, but this time we got screwed hardcore. Screw this forum and this community for not doing anything to investigate this earlier, I thought this was a place to share info like this but oh well
Cry me a river!
It's the sourmilkman more like, so your blaming everyone in the "community" for not figuring this out before you wasted your time on it?
What is it with the yanks lately ? Ive noticed it on lots of other non phone related forums as well. I was even blamed for the war of independence on one of them ffs ??? Make America smart again not bloody dumber!!!
hahahahaaha
Why are you so mad abt it.... It isn't released in the US... it wasn't made to be used in the US... They didn't want you to use it in the US... so why would be mad if it doesn't work as intended ....it's like if someone ordred a VERIZON OR AT&T and he's living in the EU OR ASIA and started crying why it won't work... You just went full retarded... Wtf is wrong with you people !??

1. Thanks for your efforts
2. We cannot do anything about Xiaomi locking bands via hardware
3. How on earth, do you expect xda/members to know if bands are locked via hardware. Poco is not officially sold in US, so there is no need for them to have US LTE bands support
4. We have been sharing info, and already have a thread about it here.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/help/poco-f1-lte-bands-unlock-t3835467
5. No need to start flaming the whole community
@MishaalRahman can you please check with @jaimani or poco peeps who interact with xda if the bands (2 and 4) are locked via hardware on Poco F1 so we don't spend much effort on trying to unlock those bands?
Clearly the Poco F1 is popular in States, but lack of bands is killing that popularity.
If it's locked then don't be sour about it. As mentioned earlier, it's not intended for the US. Thanks for your efforts BTW.
RT's appreciated. Let's see if we can get an answer on Twitter.

All of you complaining about my negativity and "failure to see that this is not intended for a US release"
Your lack of ambition bores me
Its intended for a South American release, including Columbia and Mexico. Both of these countries share LTE bands with the US. I don't care if its "not intended" I'm going to take what is available to me and use it. Do you think I failed to realize that its "not intended" when I broke down the modem.img and read countless lines of UTF-8 coding (half of which i admit just ended up getting scrolled through cause its nonsense) trying to get more than "bands 40,41 disabled" and "activate based on selected region" etc. etc. etc. Or maybe when I tried rewriting in QXDM to no avail because guess what it can't be done its hardware locked. They shouldve just saved me the trouble and said "GLOBAL VERSION HARDWARE LOCKED BY LACK OF RADIO ANTENNAE" rather than provoking me to play go fish with the damn firmware. I'm not the only one who wondered if it could be done, this is a common question just look around. The fact that I am the only one trying, only to conclude with certainty that it cant be done, thats what im *****ing about. I just figured that others, who wanted to be part of this release like myself, who search the damn forums including this one only to come up empty handed, could use the cold simple answer instead of 10000 posts "Yea, would be really cool if that could work" and "oh yea, band 2,4 frequencychecker" etc etc etc. If you cant see the reasoning in that, then we're done here as far as arguing my ****ty attitude. Just enjoy my test results and feel free to use them for whatever testing/investigation you* may be interested in, thats why i posted it and i can/will provide all relevant information requested with regards to any testing i performed to arrive to this conclusion, cause theres more
Snapdragon 845 for 350 dollars, "not intended" does not apply anymore, ESPECIALLY when mine scored north of 2400 single core on geekbench without a custom kernel. I died a little inside when I saw that I couldnt keep it

SNAPDRAGON 845 for 350$ isn't intended doesn't apply anymore...? Sorry to burst your bubbles but IT APPLIES MAN
And nobody forced or provoked u to go through all the firmware,u did that all for urself and willing, im not trying to diminish ur findings but u can't go and cry why the bands aren't available there...
I didn't see u crying when most sony devices released on the US lacked fingerprint unlock method even though the fingerprint sensor is present in the hardware but just blocked in the software and i can list a lot of examples but this would suffice
Bottom line is this... The OEM has the right to do whatever and put whatever and block whatever the F*** they want in their devices as you have the right to buy them or not. .. Nobody force you to buy the phone u wanna the desired bands buy a phone intended for the US.... Stop crying like a baby and grow up, you are embarrassing urself
