manila2d (3d) calendar scrolling ??? - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
Is there somebody here that could make a script or an app. to make the calendar-line of manila2d or even 3d showing cycling information about to calendar.
So, instead of showing a single today (all day event) item, cycling between all the events of that day.
That way we can see al the info about the whole day on the home screen.
Greetz

It is a very good idea !

Hello,
Manila specialists.
Is it possible?
It would make manilla much more useful for me.
Thanks.
Greetz

I don't think it's possible for 2d and I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned in the 2d thread. 3d may be a different story, in fact, I think that is one advantage of 3d is vertical scrolling on the main screen to view multiple appointment s and days . anyhow 3d is still early in development so give it some time.

Hello,
I think it must be possible to change the registrykey that manila reads and displays for the calendar line.
I am thinking about an app. or script that reads the info in the calenderapp and writes it item by item in that registrykey.
If possible it ignores past items. That way we see all the actual info of the day cycling on one single line

ive been wondering about this, i like the ability to scroll on opal.

Hello,
Manila2d displays the info in "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Appointments\HomeScreen]"
When a edit the values in the keys manually, manila displays that immediatly.
So, when someone can get the info out of the calendarapp from WM we can display all the info we want (cycling).
Unfortunately i can't do the job because i don't know how to do it.

Nice idea !
Do you know where data of calendar are stored ?
And what about the cycling ? On/OFF by launching an app, or automatic each x minutes ?

would someone please move this to Q&A?

No, I dont know where data is stored.
I prefer a cycling time of a few seconds, maybe 10 or so.
Maybe the next upcoming event a little longer or next event and time - another event and time - next event and time - another event and time - ...
Even better with adaptable times and time peroid to show (even next days).

I think we can use the following registry :
HKCR\System\State\Appointments
In this we can find Event, HomeScreen, List & Next.
After it will be necessary to translate REG_BINARY times into real times !

Keep Working:d

Ok 1st return :
the active key for the display is Event -> Subject
Don't know what is the key HomeScreen.
And the Next key is for the...next event !
But can't find all next events !
And not sure of the way to make this :
#1 Mortscript with automatic event all x seconds
#2 .Net 3.5 with GUI to program what you want but how to make it refresh, a Timer would be nice but it means the app must be in the background...=> memory.
My knowledge on .Net is very old (1.1) and I must be refreshed !
Edit : One good path to have what you want : http://www.developer.com/ws/pc/print.php/10947_3556186_1
Maybe there is something better on the 3.5, if you know it, please tell me

would be very interested in this also. keep looking please.

Mortscript should work. Something similar has been done for cycling weather data display in the network provider name on the home screen.

The problem with MortSprit is to access the pim datas because the registry store only the next event and if you want to scroll for all day or 2,3 or week it's impossible....arf...maybe possible but I'm not strong enaught.
Maybe I can do it with .Net 3.5 but I may need some help with some tweaks.....and must format my PC because VS2008 doesn't like my old install/erases of 2005 and 2003.....

Im not an expert and may be im going a little to far but i have this idea:
It would be good to make one tab in manila to open something like "Second Today".
This way one tab may contain a smaller clock and calendar+ showing more apointments or anythig else. This would be nice!
a quick way:
Is it pasible to make one tab simply to lunch a program (second today)? This way we can simulate a tab containing any today plugin (calendar+). Ofcourse the bottom slider will disaper but we can put there one big button down there fot close seckond today or simply bind closin on one softkey.
What do you think about it? sorry for my english
PS: for me it would be best if sliding the keybord (in hermes) would run seckond today
But ofcourse it will be perfect if 3 or 4 events from the calendar would apear under the clock

Is someone could help me find the algo to convert this hexa in datetime please ?
Thanks in advance
Hex :
"Start Time"=hex:\
00,38,d8,92,17,4d,c9,01
"End Time"=hex:\
00,a0,9c,f4,1f,4d,c9,01
DateTime :
2008-11-22 07:00 PM
2008-11-22 08:00 PM

Anyone working on this ?
I still think it is usefull for many people.
Thanks

I'm sorry, I'm completely off this time, but hope to find couple hours to have a look on this and help people who wants to go on with this request.
For now I've started a VB.NET 2008 project and started function which could open PIM and take all events in it because there's not enough in registry.

Looking for timer software

Hi,
i'm looking for software that, with one push on a button, places a time/datestamp (real date and time) in a table everytime you push
the same button and then advances to the next record.
There is such software here, but it is only for the Palm:
http://www.stevenscreek.com/palm/pockettimer.html
Does anyone know if there is something like that for the PPC?
TIA
On my P900 I once tried out an application called billable buddy by Mastersoft. Might be what you are after might however not.
http://www.mastersoftmobilesolutions.com
Timersoftware
Thanks for your suggestion but thats not what i'm looking for.
Maybe there are some programmers among us who can make such a simple program.
The only thing it has to do is with one push on a button record time (and date) in a table, everytime you push a button.
like loading the date and time into the clipboard and do a ctrl +v
unless i'm mistaken
Rudegar,
that's correct!
But it has to be in a table and everytime it must put the real time and date
in a new record of the same table.

Text-to-image utility for WM?

Anyone know of a utility that will take a text file as input and spit out a simple GIF/JPG/PNG/BMP?
If there are none, plan B would be text-to-speech. Anyone know of a good one that sounds reasonably natural?
Thanks in advance!
if there are such options this is the search which will lead you to them
http://www.google.dk/search?hl=da&q=ocr+pocketpc&btnG=Søg&meta=lr=lang_da|lang_en
you can replace ocr with text to speach if you wanna search for that
One of us is misunderstanding...
As I understand Optical Character Recognition, it takes an image (which contains text) and extracts the text. I'm trying to do the opposite - take a text file as INPUT and OUTPUT to an image. (See attachment.)
BTW- I Googled this heavily before posting. Tons of Text2Image links, but everything I found was made for a desktop PC - not Pocket PC. And including "pocket pc" in the search criteria didn't help... lots of pages with Wintel Text2Image software that mention "Pocket PC" somewhere on the page.
Have you thought of using a fullscreen doc viewer (picsel comes to mind...) and a screen-capture mapped to a hardware button? It isn't automated, but it would get the job done.

With mortscript, you can automate pretty much anything, right? Problem is, that really wouldn't get the job done.
Let me explain the application a bit better...
I use Wisbar Advanced Desktop extensively and I have a pretty sophisticated UI set up. I have a special page for weather, but I'm really not happy with *any* of the weather today plug-ins (and I think I've tried pretty much all of them!) So what I want to do is pass 2 or 3 URLs to mortscript, have it read the file in, parse out the stuff I don't want, leaving me with text that gives me the precise details I do want. I then convert the text to an image file, saving it with the same name ands size every time (e.g. currentconditions.gif - which is already set as a positioned element on the WAD virtual page.) I do the same with extended forecast and surf report (I live at the beach in SoCal) and tell mortscript to go out and update this once per hour. Then, when I go to my weather page, I get exactly the info I want (including sunset time, water temp, UV index, etc.) and my info is no older than 59 minutes.
I'm starting to think that I should just do this server-side... maybe I can find a text-to-image script using php. Hmmmm...

Configuring WM6.1 Calendar

Is it possible to configure / add more options into the "Subject" drop down when making or editing an appointment in the Calendar ??
I need to enter 1 of 3 options for every single day of the year, it would be so much easier to be able to add these to the drop down to select each time to save me from typing them out.
Ive had a look but still cant find where or how i would add to this drop down field.
Hoping some of you guys / girls out there will know how to. ??

Free applications as per request

Hi all
I am a software developer and I am interested in developing smartphone applications on my spare time (and I have a lot) for free.
What I need is ideas…. Meaning, me my self has HTC Diamond and all of my application needs is modest but I am sure that you guys probably have more needs then I do and …. My be you can help me help you … so bring on the ideas (… just not themes and all of this kind of applications).
Thanks
A connection type choosing utility would be highly useful - to forget about choosing between 3G and/or WLAN. More info

can you make a really simple program with no ui that lets me map a button to turn off the screen on my tilt?
also i would like an app to play a high pitch sound to ward off misquotes.
hey!
i have a nice idea!you could make and app like beat dj on samsung m7600 with scratch and all that things..
an application to after soo many seconds, and or when one turns off, then on the deivice that will kill a certain application - Example - I'd like to kill Pockethackmaster after it starts up, and sets the desired speed - no need to keep it running in the background...
Another idea - The ability to clear duplicate notifications on every soft reset - I tried one, but - it doesn't work to clear all the duplicate RTC notifications that come up after every soft reset or so...
also an auto memory defragmentor, and cleaner would be nice...
and of course - on startup/reset - pre-cache all startmenu icons (example - I just have a short menu so I go thru programs, and then from there games, etc.. again pre-caching these startmenu program. etc.. icons would be nice)...
edit forgot to add: WM2003 compatible please...
People, I'd recommend using this duplicate file finder to deal with unnecessary files on your hard drive. It has many functions, user-friendly interface, safety options and 100% efficiency.
what about inventory mobile? we have a list of products with price and current quantity, then we can insert new invoice that will decrease the quantity from the product table. just like Mini Point of Sales???
An activesync status monitor - so I can see at a glance if I'm still connected to my exchange server - a green icon in the top bar for ok, and grey for disconnected...?
Thanks.
Oooh, ooh, just thought of another one - an mp3 player that when minimized will pop up a window for say 5 seconds each time a new track is played with the track name and a skip button. Handy when using sat nav and the mp3 player in the car.
csharpcoder do you think that you will do any of these ideas?

- Fast and easy to use Color Chart
- Eyedropper for selecting color from the canvas
Files (check this out)
- Exporting in industrial standard EPS format
- Export in JPG, BMP, PNG or GIF format
Instant E-mail
- You can send your work via e-mail as a JPG attachment

First, posting warez is not allowed. Second, if you look at my details (top left of post) there are stars, I support the forum.
Having tried other inking/drawing/note taking apps, they don't seem to do well with the capacitive screen so you end up with wobbly inaccurate lines.
Is this one better...I will give it a try, but would also value your opinion

Can't click a link can you?
Pleased you brought this here Nighthawk..... I was just about to do it myself.
Yes, it's a great little New Application.
Very clean and uncluttered.
Loves
1. Background Import:-
I rather like the idea you can import either as a Background or a File a picture.
What is interesting in the Background selection is you can select Camera. Next step take a Photo and it's automatically imported into DynaInk.
2. Multiple Undo's:-
This is brilliant and is a god send of a time saver.
3. Dynamic Brush Selection:-
Gives the Brush & Quill a natural drawing ability.
Dislikes
1. Removing unwanted ink strokes:-
If you draw to the edge (or near) of the screen and then select Undo then undo your strokes, after the Undo window disappears instead of clearing away all the ink strokes selected it leaves the ink on screen that was previously shown outside of the Undo window.
In other words it clears away any strokes within the Undo window but leaves the ones outside on the screen.
2. Finger Painting
It works but it's a bit hit & miss.
Maybe a Capacitive Stylus will help with this.
Queries
1. Portrait/Landscape
According to the Manual it states the program works in either Portrait or Landscape.
I can't find anywhere in how to make the program change to Landscape?
Improvements
1. Zoom Feature
It would be great if we had an option to zoom in on the work.
This would certainly help with the finger painting in help getting the finger in the right place.
Notes:
1. Well, we have 7 (seven) days trial use.
The web site needs a Forum but in the meantime I've left a few questions on the Support feedback message box.
Happy Painting all.........
I did give it a try and as a drawing application it is excellent, even just on a few minutes playing. I have the artistic ability of a small, sun-hardened cowpat (or say Tracy Emin) and the pen mode can even make a few of my daubs look reasonable.
However, I primarily wanted a scribbler for notes, for which it works up to a point if you are prepared to go slow and steady, but even then it sometimes loses the plot.
If I was a sketcher I would buy this in a heartbeat, but I don't rate it for note taking, at least if you only have your finger handy

Just received a reply back from DynaInk to this one.
Hi,
Thanks for reporting this problem. As I see it only occurs when you undo all your steps. This case DynaInk does not refresh the screen.
I will correct it ASAP, until that you can use File/New to undo all your steps.
Best Regards,
Gabor

That was quick.... I only sent off the request around an hour ago.
Guys,
Received another message from DynaInk this evening:-
Thanks Mike!
I hope I can do the fix tomorrow and I will upload it to dynaink.com/download page.

Gabor

Trust me... you won't be disappointed.
Yeah, I got responces from DynaInk last night after I posted a couple of questions to them and such, about 2 hours after I sent them. I am really impressed with that.
I can mention that the software supports WVGA, they just didn't list it in the overview.
As for rotating, could it be a HD2 issue? I'm going to fiddle with registry and will let you know.

Yes.. I've now sent two messages and both came back within the hour (or thereabouts).
As to the rotating, the manual doesn't give too much info (apart from actually saying Portrait/Landscape).
Would be interesting if there is a reg key.
The developer's going to send me an email very soon with the update to the problem I found on screen refresh. I'll post it here as soon as it comes through, along with any other snippets of info.
I've done the registry hack, but it didn't work (created CAB). I suspect it has to do with the value needed for the HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList >>>
Registry String: DynaInk
Value: ????
Anyone know what I should use here as a value?
*** Tried MunichWinClass, DynaInk - no luck
***UPDATE *** I have got rotation working, you can grab the CAB below for making the change.
The (SC) version is for using if DynaInk was installed on Storage Card. Having not made CABs before I wasn't sure if there is a way to set it up (WinCE Cab Manager) to recognise where app was installed automaticaly, so I made the two seperate ones.

You should drop them a line via the support section on their website and ask about them making a Notes application, seems to me they have a lot of the work already done.

It's a good thought and one that I may just follow up on, thanks.
The main problem seems to be that the fine movement and close curves required to write is misinterpreted, so you seem to get random straight lines joining what I'd guess was two points detected as having been pressed on the screen.
If you write big and slowly it's mostly ok, but I wonder if the screen can ever work properly for notes without a stylus.
Certainly not the software's fault though - it's a tidy bit of kit!

Not had chance yet to try this out Nighthawk.
Can you tell me what it actually does to the software or how it's rotated?
Is it done automatically as you rotate the screen?
It's just adds DynaInk to the GSensor Whitelist (registry), same as we had to do for TomTom.
HKCU/Software/HTC/HTCSENSOR/GSensor/ModuleName
Key: DynaInk
Value: \Storage Card\Program Files\DynaInk\DynaInk.exe
HKCU/Software/HTC/HTCSENSOR/GSensor/WhiteList
Key: DynaInk
Value: #NETCF_AGL_BASE_
