I cannot find any information on localizing Touch Pro to view and input Japanese language, though other models & lower Windows Mobile versions are available.
May be it's because Touch Pro is just still new!
I just bought Atok, Japanese Input System (cost me 5,000 yen), but could not get it to work on my Touch Pro/WM6.1 Pro. (1.90.831.3 WWE)
After checking Atok requirements carefully, it is compatible so far up to WM6.1 classic version. Besides, they must be Japanese version of Windows Mobile.
My experience with Windows system is that you can run softwares for English on Japanese version, but not Japanese softwares on original English version OS.
Does it mean that I have to 1.) give up trying Atok 2.) change my Touch Pro to Japanese Windows version (how can I do that?) or 3.) wait for the release of Touch Pro in Japan next year (japanese version) and ask again the question? Meantime, stick to CE-star, this allows viewing only, not input?
Or is there other way to input Japanese on my spec?
Appreciate comments. J.T.
I'd love to run Japanese Localization on my CDMA Touch Pro as well.
(edit: realized this thread is really old)
Find the relevant information here:

It has been tested and confirmed working on GSM Touch Pro, but should be no different for CDMA devices. You should of course still backup your data just to be safe.
Just for posterity, MS JPIME does work on WM6.1 Pro, and I am personally also using ATOK (Japanese word suggestion), currently with Da_G's WWE rom, so there are no compatability problems.
頑張ってね!
At the present time, if you want Japanese input/localization on the Raphael, then the below method (free) works best IMHO
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482611&highlight=japanese
I wonder how ATOK compares? If it is WAY better, then somebody please let us know. I could then try to persuade my wife to give me a cool 5000.....
ATOK is just word suggestion, but it's very nice and I'm using it on my Touch Pro. But word suggestion isn't as important on the Touch Pro since you have the full keyboard. I think it's more essential for Diamond users who don't have the keyboard.
If you want to see how ATOK runs, take a look at this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbo5sKJEA1k
The video is actually TouchKeySIP input panel with Gesture10Key script (for the keyboard), and is running Advanced WNN which is a different Japanese word suggestion software but similar to ATOK. Here's a screenshot of ATOK on my Touch Pro:

I know this is really only a place for HTC made devices but does anyone use the Toshiba Portege G500?
Looking for a Smartphone again as I'm getting a little bored of my MDA Vario II, the PDA novelty has finally worn off after having an XDA Mini S before that.
I really like the look of the Toshiba Portege G500.
Does anyone know of any WM6 upgrades available for it? Since it seems like a great speced device with having a fast CPU and HSDPA.

i need valid link
at mpx.gen.tr you can actually find stable WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 roms for the device, play around a bit.
edit:
http://www.mpx.gen.tr/showthread.php?t=24236 actually have the most stable WM 6.5 roms, two versions lite/standart, I guess google translator will give you enough ideas about what they offer though =)

ROM
I need help in creating miniSD bootable rom.
HELP
What do you mean?
You don't need to "create" a bootable rom, imo.
The .XLDs seem to be X-Loader files and afaik you need to format your SD to FAT16, copy the .XLD to it and start your mobile with "*" pressed and "PowerOn".
"SD Card Upgrade" should appear.
That's what google translated though...
Since i get G500 in some days i'm not the best resource for info.
So please don't kill me if you brick your brick - ehm phone.
Hi, just wondering why all the ROMs on here for WM 6.1 don't use the new WM 6.1 Today screen seen elsewhere?

This is just a guess, but the link you provided said that the device they were using was a "Samsung Blackjack II" which is a smartphone (non-touchscreen).

You are perfectly right.
Thats for Smartphone, not PocketPc.
Why not Pro? This looks pretty good!
Why wouldn't they make this available for Professional? This looks pretty good to me...just my opinion. Why would they make the smartphone version have functionality that the Pro. version can't have?

Smartphone's handle Today screens very differently to PPCs. With a PPC, you have a theme that controls the background image and colours, then you have individual Today plug-ins that you can move and control independently.
With a Smartphone, you install the theme and that determines the background image, colour, and EVERYTHING that is displayed on the front screen - it sets where your unread messages notification goes, where your missed calls display, etc. You cannot install anything else onto your front screen, you'd have to make and install a different theme. This makes an integrated, attractive front screen easier to make on a Smartphone, but makes personalising yours a lot harder.
I think what MS is trying to do with this aspect of WM6.1 is make the Smartphone front end more user-friendly and, crucially, useful so you don't have to go delving into the menus to do things (that we can already do on PPCs by downloading a plug-in). I've reading this as MS's attempt to bring the Smartphone's front screen closer to the usablility of the PPC's, rather than it moving ahead.
[disclaimer] I haven't looked at a Smartphone since I moved from my Typhoon to my Magician, so it might've all changed since my day! [/disclaimer]
Here you can see the different devices thats running mobile 6.1
You see the TyTn II at 5 minutes
Hi, I have the pro for last one and a half months and use it extensively for emailing and ms office attachments. To my shock I discovered this thing can not edit Power Point slides while a simple updation of quick office in my E-51 did!!. I am not a hard core software professional as most of you on this forum might be but found it strange that such an expensive win mo device can only view PPT slides!!.Have tried the manual and HTC sites. Here in India where I am from all we get is goody goody good for nothing e-mail replies from HTC. Topping it all even the software supplied with the phone viz the spb gprs monitor and sprite back up did not load on the device citing ROM version not up to the mark(Rom Version 1.95.720.2 WWE: ROM date 21st Oct 2008: Radio Version 1.02.25.28: Protocol Version 52.33.25.17G)....any way I went ahead and purchased the compatiable version online from spb which although does not have the same format....which I am aware as I also won a diamond... but is more functional...that is another story... however my request here is can anyone help me to dowload any software that will enable this device to edit PPT? That will actually complete my pro. Thanks!!
I do not believe that there is a "upgraded version" of ppt.
Can't comment on that my freind however wud be great if this device can edit PPT slides.
I feel the same way.
The Touch Pro was only ever advertised as being able to VIEW powerpoint slides, no-one ever said it had the capability to edit them.
In all honesty, you would find such a tool incredibly frustrating to use on such a small screen anyway.
The current version of mobile office definitely doesn't support powerpoint file editing.
I am not aware of any powerpoint editor for the Touch Pro either.
Sorry!
Hello,
you cant edit ppt files with winmos built in office. we can be glad that there is
a ppt viewer in winmo at all (since windows mobile 2005, shame to ms!).
if you want to edit ppt you will have to buy clearvue office from westtek.
but its very painful to edit ppt on a device with such a small display.
if I were you I would edit your ppts on a desktop and copy them to your device.
the touch pro is very nice for viewing, especially with the tv out function.
You can edit PowerPoint files with SoftMaker Office

But as mentioned in previous posts, I think it will be difficult to work on a small display.
Many Thanks My unseen freinds. The westtek software is great. All said and done may be it is this flexibility of WinMo that keeps it going inspite of sluggish interface. Hope versions 6.5 and 7 will take care or else symbian is catching fast... Thanks again
Hi all!
This is a popular question/concern on those forums for WWE EN users, I hope that it will help everyone!
I have been looking very hard to have all the input methods available in my Topaz since I upgraded to 6.5 + Sense.
Studio Kuma's solution is not working since the upgrade(plus it is a very ugly app!)
ZT4 is good, but no handwriting recognition
So, I looked on the Chinese search engine (Baidu, for those who know), and I found some cool stuff, and not even crapware! Very impressed that this exists in China
So, anyway, I am attaching the cabs and a bit of explanations :
- CEPenIM.cab is the handwriting recognition. It obviously needs some upgrading, as it was designed for WM 6 and earlier. So the interface bar is very tiny at the bottom and it is a bit hard to operate. But it works very well. According to my tests, it recognized my pig handwriting without any change ever needed! And hey, that's the only one that I can find, so I won't be picky. Also note that it is veeeeeeery fast.
- sogousip_ppc_sweb.cab takes care of all of your pinyin/stroke entry needs. It is far more attractive than ZT4 UI-wise, with even a dictionary embedded in EN input. Give it a try, you won't regret this
Both were tested in the latest Dutty's cooking environnement (good stuff, give it a try!), and no glitches were detected, aside from the limitations in the UI for CEPen thingy.
I always get Studio Kuma's thing installed for the Chinese fonts as an habit after a flash. I do not know if one of the attached cab got some CH font embeded, and am too lazy to try See if that extra step is needed by testing yourself.
Cheers, and I ll be lurking on the forums, so any question you might have please let me know.
PS : Sorry, it was a lucky catch, so I don't have the original website to link to.
Real Chinese?
Does it do real Chinese (繁體) and is it stable? I'm sick of hard resets after installing Chinese junkware that makes winmo poop itself (ce-star and all the culprits). All Chinese input should support at least CHT but for some reason some of it is just retarded mao stuff.
Thank you .......
Other SIPs
For myself with my Topaz with WM6.5, I've installed the HTC Chinese support to have traditional chinese :

i've installed both of them. however, how i can use the 注音 input? (like show 注音 on the touch keypad)
This is what I'm looking for, thanks for sharing!
This is kind of leisure review. I don't know how many people will be interested in Chinese input ~
Ok. Why Chinese?
1. I tried to side-load google keyboard, but failed
2. Chinese inputs (also Korean, Japanese etc) are quite different from the transitional English input system though they(we) also use traditional qwerty keyboard for typing.
As a Chinese living aboard, I have to switch between two type of keyboard in my phone which is painful. So far not even one input method satisfied me with both good balanced in 2 languages (phone input).
3. China has been long staying in an non-google environment, therefore their(our) app is specially-deigned for Chinese which you may think is strange or interesting.
Chinese input:
There are varieties of inputs in China (for typing chinese and english). As some of Chinese philosophy, you may find their(our) inputs are integrated with quite a lot of functions (just imagine wehcat vs whatsapp). Some standard features are: cloud dictionary, skin store (can upload/download keyboard skins), changeable keyboard hight, copy/paste/select + arrow functions, night mode (a inbuilt darker skin), voice/handwriting/pinyin/etc, emoij, sound/vibration font&size customization......................also others like floating mode, one-hand mode, swiping..........
I have chosen 3 apps, all latest version: Baidu IME (8.18M), Baidu input (7.26M), Sougou input (19.3M)
Note there is not much difference between IME and input, the 2nd is a branch from 1st one as specifically designed for older people (larger keyboad, easier menu and less wrong typo). Sougou is the currently the one with most population and famous of it's accuracy.
I have slightly change a little setting for watch but most remain default...e.g. there might be a skin with larger board or different key layout...
don't have much time to format my writings, just leave pictures below... and a hurry video.
One more thing, if I was not wrong, the internet connection (online voice, dic download) is not usable.

Hi I'am Chinese too.And I want to ask that how you can run Baidu IME in your android wear.I use the moto360GN2.I have already installed the apk on my watch. But I can not open it on my watch.Neither can 去勾选and去选择.I am so gtateful if can give me some information about it.Thanks!
