No problem, I won't put up anyone's ROMs unless they send me an OK, don't want to step on any toes but I can host them no problem got unlimited bandwidth
I did the same thing, but i created a rapidshare type site where you can upload whatever you want and there is no speed limit. Just see my signature
Thanks to all the chefs who spend the time getting us theses fantastic roms.

Hi peeps just an update My sponsored site from vexamus will be down in a couple days time and also my phone is broken, not sure whats wrong with it just one minute was working and next the phone wont even turned on.
I tried putting in bootloader mode and nothing, seems like a hardware or battery fault as it wont even charge as well.
The sponsored site has been really good but we never expect so much downloads and bandwith was going to be used and vexamus tried his best but he cannot maintain all those bandwidths space been use.
So this is my story to tell you.
I was working on v4b with wm6.1 which was almost finished it was a earlier build but was really quick.
I will updated you Guys as soon as I get any good news.

I got a rapidshare premium account as well, was looking for a ftp server has it was much easier for everyone. If nothing comes I will use my rapidshare to host files again
Hey dutty, love your roms, but do you have any start menu folder icons you could share? I need some because I don't like it being a plain folder. Do you have any?

Thanks for all the offers pm me with detaills, just to let you know the current server had unlimited bandwidth space but the download traffic was Humangos which at current vexamus is having a hard time, Thumbs up to him for starting and sponsoring me for the ftp server.
Hopefully my phone should be fixed and i can continue on wm6.1 for kaiser

Dutty I had the same problem before and it was simply I needed a new battery. Hopefully that will be the quick easy fix for you like it was for me.

I have noticed a lot of people like to use hosting company like Megaupload and rapidshare, which to I have noticed has it's draw backs on waiting times etc..
So what i propose is to setup an FTP server for all developers on the XDA community such as:

shogunmark
Confused Stu's
ryncppr
sakajati
Laurentius26
(Sorry if I missed anybody out but of course you are included)
Each user would have there own space on the ftp server to upload there rom's/tools they wish to share with the xda-dev community, which they could link directly too there own threads to make it easier for people to download.
Supported by donations I would be happy to keep this server running permanently for everyone to use.
Also if you have any other suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
Let me know what you think as if I get enough positive responses it would be a project I would be happy to pursue.
Thats fine, so long as you:
1. Can get a server in a country which doesn't respect Microsoft's Copyright. I believe XDA had an FTP before which was shut down
2. Have multi-gigabit connectivity. Think just of the Kaiser board and imagine a few hundred people all downloading the latest Dutty or L26 ROM at about 100MB a go. Now multiply that up by all the boards at XDA-D, all the Roms and all the users.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not deliberately pissing on your campfire but there are reasons things are as they are.

Thanks for your reply, i had already thought of banwidth issues plus the copyright implications from M$, i am currently looking at different hosting company's which may be able to provide me with what i/we require.

As a matter of couriosity can you remember why the xda ftp was shut down?
I think as above 'I believe XDA had an FTP before which was shut down'... due to the server having multiple images and files of MS based software.

The idea is good brother, but its unlikly to happend due legal issues. What you should do is sit down and collect all urls to all rom and compile a nice tread that you can daily update whit links on the diffrent chefs. That will go straight on the stickies (should go that is), woulda done it myself but I am to occupied trying to learn to cook

I noticed a lot of devs hosting things with rapidshare and megaupload so thought I would try and do my bit for the site and offer some free hosting for any Desire files that you need hosting. Please keep what you upload legal no warez or anything like that if warez or any other illegal files are found in your FTP your login details will be removed instantly. If any dev wants a FTP post here and I will be intouch. I will be checking user posts to make sure only real devs get FTP you will have your own folder where you can host files and HTML.

Another good way would be to share roms via dropbox (Public folder). You get 2 GB of free storage at the beginning.
Via referrals you can get up to 11GB.

Unfortunately due to server load I will only be offering hosting space for all things "Desire". As far as my download cap goes ....... I dont have one so that wont be a problem . If you do end up porting Kang-o-rama over to desire feel free to get in touch.

Apparently with all the rom mirrors dropping, its assumed people just don't want to continue development. :/
I've seen 3 rom devs drop off the radar because they don't have hosting.

And I'm not sure why? I'm not asking for any money. Hell, I'm not even really asking for anything in return. I like seeing new roms developed.
I am pretty sure hosting was not the only reason for dropping off, but I really admire you doing this for the community.

I started a site with links to roms as torrent downloads. The files themselves are sitting on a 100mbit box. I was wondering if a few of you guys could try downloading them and giving feedback on the speed of the downloads you get. I would highly appreciate it, just trying to give back to the community.

Thank you for testing it for me! I have notified the two developers I'm hosting roms of, its up to them if they would like the mirrors on their threads. It would be nice for new releases when dev-host gets swamped.
Any chance I could request for my rom, Buoyancy, to be hosted? I've been looking for alternatives to dev-host and this looks great.
