Annoying issue with bluetooth headset - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hello all,
I've had my TP for over a month now, and globally I'm pretty much happy with it. Of course there are some glitches here and there, but no doubt a firmware upgrade will fix those bugs soon.
That said, there's an annoying issue with the way bluetooth headsets work with the phone part. Let me try to explain :
- When an incoming call occurs and I answer using the "take call" button on my headset (which is a Plantronics Pulsar 590), sounds is transferred to the headset and everything works fine.
- When an incoming call occurs and I answer using the "answer" button on the mobile, the sound stays on the TP even if the headset is switched on and connected to the TP.
When the latter happens, I can't get the sound back to the headset. When I select "transfer to hands-free" from the phone menu, the transfer works erratically.
Is there a fix available somewhere to make sure that, when the headset is on and connected, the sound of an incoming call always goes to the headset?
Thanks a lot in advance for any help you may bring on solving this issue!

Are you using AEBPlus?

No (and honestly, I don't see how that relates to the problem)

Hi Guys,
I also have this issue.
But if I press the 'answer call' on the mobile the sound stays with the Touch Pro but if, once I realise what I've done, I press the 'answer call' on the headset then audio is transferred to the headset again.
Does that happen for you? I'm using an SBTHS-3500 BT headset.
Cheers,
D.

Sorry, I had multiple tabs open for responses.
Copy'n'Paste error.
P.S. I had this issue on my TP and Diamond as well. I have since installed a 2.03-based ROM which fixes the issue (since you can no longer press the phone button to answer, but rather have to use a slider).

Bluetooth headsets - sequence of operation

I decided to open a new thread although there were several threads on the use of bluetooth headsets. My intent is to explore whether there is a particular sequence that we need to follow when operating the XDAII and BT headset. I am using a Ericsson HBH-65.
First observation:
I notice that I need to end all calls via the bluetooth headset rather than from the XDAII. If I end a call using the XDAII (ie depressing the red button), for subsequent calls whether incoming or outcoming, I cannot use the headset. There is no connection between the 2. I seem to be able to simulate this almost 99% of the time.
Second observation:
I normally switch off my BT headset overnight for charging purposes etc. At the same time I deactivate the BT settings on my XDAII.
The next morning, I would activate the BT settings, BT profiles and then switch on my headset.
I notice that for the first call I made/receive the next day, I will have problems using the headset. I am not quite sure whether it is the case that I need to switch on my BT headset first and then the XDAII BT settings and BT profiles. I say this as to resolve the problem, I seemingly need to deactivate/activate the BT profile settings before it works and then for subsequent calls I would have no problems using the headset. This needs further testing to test my hypothesis.
Anyone notice anything different on their part.

Same issues
I have had the HBH-65 and have noticed the same issues. I have also had an Logitech and did not have any problems with that.. I am guessing the issue is with the firmware on the HBH-65.
I use Bluetake GII with my xda2. No sequence, no problems. I never even think about switching it on or off. Works in any sequence. Nice looking too!
I have a Jabra 250, and I do not have to follow any ritual to have it to work fine
I have a Logitech Bluetooth headset with my Qtek 2020 (rom 1.60.21), and it works like crap.
First of all, the headset wont turn on/off sometimes.
Second - if its turned on, and the qtek has been turned off, i need to reconnect it, to switch automatticly when recieving a call.
Thirdly - both speak and hear is very poor quality/fare away (very silent) even though ive turned the volume to maxx.
BT Headset - Works Flawlessly
I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-30 headset and I never give the slightest thought to sequences or procedures. I can turn the headset on and off, the profile on and off, even the BT stack on and off - without ever having to re-bond or anything else.
Now if I could just voice-dial a call with the bloody thing I would be truly happy indeed.
Same problems but getting it figured out
I have the HBH-65 and it seems to work fine now that I've hopefully figured it out. I do a few things. First, I leave the Bluetooth on, on my i-Mate. Second, once it's in range I've noticed it takes about a minute for it to link up. When it links it either makes a single beep (if I just turned on the Headset) or a quiet click if it was already on. I doesn't work ALL of the time, but the more I use it the better it gets. I really expected it to be a little easier.
I have the HBH-200 with call display...which the salesman assured me that it would work with my XDA 2! Call display does not work, and if I end a call on the O2 the headset will hang. Other than that it's great!
I Have a XDAII and a HBH-35
They key to it seems to be not to turn anything off ! it's really frustrating when you think it's all linked up and then get in the car only to recieve a call and not be able to answer it with the headset.
If I have turned the headset off it's a right pain to bond again, red, green lights, funny beeps it's very confusing !
Once it's bonded it's great ! I am amazed with the call quality.
I have an Sony Ericsson HBH 35, I have no problem w3ith the bluetooth pick up call are end calls.
I can even transfer call from my bluetooth to the handaset and by reverse pick up call on my handset and then transfer the call back to the headset all I have to do his to hold the button on the headset fro a few second and the call transfer from the handaset to the bluetooth headset no problem.
Great piece of headset I would really reccomended it to anyone.
The rom on my XDA II is still the version 1.05

Gigino
Cheers Gigino
Do you ever turn your headset off or disable bluetooth?
I don't have any problems when it's bonded. Just problems if I turn the headset off to save battery
I only turn the headset off at night when I charge it. I use to swwitch off the headset but not anymore becauswe if it is on it use very very little power so it last all day with no problem.
The bluetooth on the XDA II I have never turn it off since I bought it 5 month ago the bluetooth headset on the XdA II is always on.
I've try it switch it of and then on the bletooth and the bluetooh heaset on the XDA II but when I turn it on and turn the headset on it all works fine.
They is no issue on the headset I've tryed every diffrent combinetion the is and the headset works fine.
I have never needed to rebond the headset with the XDA II.
The only thing I have not try is if I can receive a second caller.
Mean trying to switch between 2 caller when I have the chance I will try it.

Gigino
cheers

[found!] Stereo headset (re)connection app requested !

Solution found: use battery status. In its last builds it has an option to enable A2DP directly by pressing BT tray icon
---------------------------------------------------
Hi mates,
Does everybody has the same problem with BT profiles ?
It goes well from stereo (listening music) to headset (calling) profile, when a call is incoming. But when the call is ended, or if you disabled bluetooth meanwhile (or turned off the headset), you must go to BT options, devices, then tap 'n hold the headset and set it as wireless stereo. Quite a long operation for a simple task, I had in mind that someone could write a cmd-line app which would do this ?
I had once a rom/a2dp patch/reg values combination that worked well with calls ending -> music goes on. But thus it didn't automatically connect the headset (as wireless stereo) on first start. Maybe this is by design, to avoid cutting off the sound coming out from the pda each time you activate BT, but it's annoying to me
So..... Am I the only one ?
Niko
ps: Vijay's VJVolubilis almost do this, but only for headset profile AFAIK
No, the 'not-returning a2dp club' is full of people... you can be the mr. president if you want...
I had the same problem. I returned my BT stereo headset because of the same problems. I'm done with A2DP.
FYI, I asked a few authors to check if they can do something about this.
So you may follow the development of those apps if you're interested in a one-click A2DP Stereo connection : AEBPlus, Battery Status and VJVolubilis.
I'll try to post again when something new is coming.
Ah... have any of you guys tried the later A2DP patches?
And why not just use the bluetooth button to reconnect wireless stereo?
I don't have any hardware button, nor any icon (except the one from battery status) associated to bluetooth. Would you please detail what you were talking about ? If it's an icon, could you try to extract the corresponding exe ?
I tried many A2DP patches, not sure if they are the latests or not, but none provided automatic stereo reconnection, at least when I just turned my headset (or bluetooth) on. Since I do that often....
I mean the button on your bluetooth headset. Click it once to connect; sometimes it needs another click to activate wireless stereo. I know not every headset supports this, but an A2DP headset should.
You might have to set wireless stereo once from the device, but after that, the headset should activate using its button the next time.
Resume problem should be fixed with the AKU3+ A2DP patches. Again, YMMV.
Note: Sorry for the double-post... site's really slow.

It doesn't have one..... it automatically connect, but in headset mode (phone), not stereo
I'll try to test with another one in a shop.

Sorry but.... YMMV ? ^^
Didn't try AKU3.x yet, have you hear good reports from prophet users ? I haven't at that time..
I'll give it a try (or WM6) when my device will be back from warranty
See comment #26. Certainly not conclusive based on one report. I've never encountered the problem, so....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284344&page=3
It doesn't have a button? How does it answer phone calls then? Or the button pops up the phone app on the first press instead of just connecting?
The main button can answer calls, or end a current call.
Its second ability is to turn on/off the headset
I have AVRCP buttons for next/prev music operation, and one of them can dial the last number when pressed for a long time.
I guess I can also reject a call, can't remember how, but the connection thing is supposed to be automatic (Already tried to press buttons to check if it would (re)connect...)
Since it's kind of noname headset (CallStell), I won't even try to request help from them ^^
hum, that's it
ps: What does YMMV stands for ?
I'll give a try to that new patch. Interesting thread btw ! Can't read it completely by now, can I try that patch if I'm still on AKU2.x rom ?
Hmmm... my guess is that the power button or the call answer button should (re-) connect the headset once you have done it once manually ("set as wireless stereo"). Or maybe not.
There are two versions on that thread - one is from AKU 3.3, the other is from WM6. Not much difference between the two, but they are both better than the older Tornado patch in terms of compatibility, IMHO. Either can be used for any version of Prophet AKU 2.0 and up.
Oh, YMMV - your mileage may vary.
please explain more about installation.
where can i get ruu file for prophet?
meykou, just go through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284344
Makes a lot more sense if you read it from the beginning. Hard to explain otherwise.

I once tried many A2DP patches/few rom versions and player combinations.
I got different results, few were very poor, most of 'em was pretty nice.
But it always missed at least 1 thing ^^
Either the sound quality, the resume-after-call or the sound-drop **** ^^
But I'm not sure anymore if I managed to get rid of the latter at least once.. but it was not that bad, one sound drop every 2 songs, for 1 or 2s., or so... still anoying, but usable.
Oh, and what I first wanted to say, I tried to reconnect via the main button, but no results. I should try with another headset, btw. What's yours ? And would you advise me to buy it ?

Oh, ok
I downloaded both of them, and will give a new try to every combination I can figure out as soon as I have more time.
Thanks for your answers btw. I'll keep posting if a software solution is found.
And I'm quite sure that meykou only wants a working-one-click-install WM6 rom
Well, good luck. I'm using the i.Tech R35, BTW.
A2DP + Prophet + Music resume
Wow! It works.
It took time for me to realise that it resumes music after a little pouse.
I need to push button only once to cancel the phone call.

Bluetooth headset profile

Guys,
I did search through the forum and I found several users with the following problem but no solution yet.
I use a bluetooth headset a lot (not a stereo, just a regular one!) and when I answer a call, people on the other side can not hear me. I have to go to bluetooth setting and do "Set as handfree" on the device so that it works again.
But it only works for a couple of minutes! The next call that I use my headset I need to do it again.
Is there a solution for this?
PS: My bluetooth headset is a Motorola H700.

I use a Plantronics 510 (or something like that) and I haven't had any problems with WM6 disconnecting from it like you describe. I have went to answer the phone with it a couple of times and it didn't seem to be linked up, but I just press the button on the headset and it links right up and then answers the call on the next press. But thats only happened a couple of times and I think each of those times I had walked away from my phone so probably went out of range (so I'm guessing the phone just hadn't noticed the BT headset being in range yet).
Try deleting the partnership and setting it up again after a soft reset.
I too have a Plantronics Voyager I think its called and I have not had this problem. I tossed my Motorola BT because the audio level was way too low on it.

Did you try when you tick the hands free that you used the enter button on the D pad instead of the other button?

I've reported the same issue with Farias ROM I am using WM6. I use a Plantronics, have to keep going back and selecting it as the handsfree.
Don't know if it a WM6 problem or a Faria problem...annoying I know.

hey.... it worked!!!! At least so far! :-D
I have repaired the headset (but I tried that several times in the past!) and untick the hands free and ticked it again and now I have tried several times and it seems that it is working.
I do not understand way. Can you explain I this non-sense procedure solves the problem
I had a little problem pairing my Plantronics Explorer 340 with my device, but after the pairing, it did work without any problems. apparently some WM6 roms out thre are having this issue. I would suggest re-flash your device and se how it works
I have a Plantronics 655 and don't have this problem. The only thing out of the ordinary that I do when pairing though is re-name the headset (defaults to 6xxPlantronics, I change it to Plantronics 655)
However, I experience a slightly different problem. My BT headset and handset don't automatically re-pair after returning in range or resetting the handset. Anyone else experiencing this?
Everytime I walk out of range or reset my phone, I would have to turn off my headset then turn it back on for the two to pair back up. I sometimes forget and when I hear the handset ring, I pick up w/ the headset only to find that they're no longer paired. Is there a way to have the two automatically pair back up? I never had this problem when I was using AKU3 roms and the stock Cingular 2.25 ROM.

BT Headset disconnects

Hi all!
Here is my problem (tried with several other headsets as well):
When the headset is connected to the phone and you take it from larger distance than it's disconnects of course. BUT when you take it back it doesn't want to reconnect automatically. It's really annoying thing, because i'm using a stereo headset to listen music, and i can't bring it with me everytime when i have to move from my desk. I've had some other HTC before but never experienced this untill now on Raphael.
Any idea how to force TP to try to reconnect as the other devices do?

is this a new BT headset you're using now? I believe some bt headsets simply don't (re)establish connection by themselves
There is a new Bluetooth stack in the Raphael compared to older HTC devices, so this could be an issue with it. Have you tried pressing your headset's play/pause button when you come back in range?

Motorola H3 headset: if i press the call button that the connection is reestablish
IQUA BHS-701-S: i have to turn it off than on to make the headset recconnect
btw: i've also noticed, if no device connected on BT, than raphael simple turns off the BT after a while
Mine has never turned BT off on its own. There must be an option for it, perhaps in power saving.

WM6.5 and BT HS behavior

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it by searching.
I very much like WM6.5, however, as many different versions as I've flashed, the common denominator for me is my BT headsets don't behave the same way as with WM6.1. Meaning, they pair fine, but when connected and a call comes in, the ring tone doesn't play thru the HS but thru the phone's speaker. The HS plays a generic tone. If a call is accepted via the HS, the caller can be communicated with via the HS. If a call is accepted via the handset with the HS connected, only the handset can be used for communication.
I've tried using my standard BlueAnt Z9i, Plantronics B110, and Jabra 840. All 3 behave in the same manner. Is there something I'm missing?
Works for Me
This is awesome. I have the BlueAnt Z9i with WM6.1. The way you described the behavior in WM6.5 is EXACTLY what I think it SHOULD do. I never have my headset in my ear unless I'm on the phone, so I hate the fact that it ONLY rings in the headset when I'm not wearing it.
It would be nice if this were configurable through some kind of settings, but I haven't found a way to adjust it. Looks like its time for me to find a nice 6.5 ROM.

I know what you mean as well as I have the same blue ant and the new Q1 and it seems like the auto a2dp is off. There is a software that will porce it on but it kills the BT HS bat.

I could live with part of this feature, the ringing of the handset. But I can't live with the problem of answering on the handset and not being able to use the BT HS.
I've since discovered the wanted behavior is a feature of MSVC. After upgrading to v1.6.19209, I now have all I want with the exception of initiating voice calls from the HS. Pressing the button only opens the audio gateway and doesn't initiate the MSVC prompt. Calls and calendar reminders are announced as wanted.
Has anyone been able to solve this little annoyance?
