spb or Resco? - General Topics

Hi. I have a question, Just out of curiosity. Who do you prefer? Spb or Resco? And what is thy're best product. I've tried spb pocket plus wich was great. Tho spb Mobile Shell was pretty useless in my opinion. Resco Explorer was also good.

i like spb backup, i think resco backup do best in this too..
for resco, i like because got resco, which i can directly install every resco i wan right inside my phone.. resco soduku , explorer, keyboard pro, brain game too.. nice..

Kinda took the words out my mouth. You really can't go wrong with either.

This should be in the general section!
When you compare two products. For example; SPB Backup and Resco Backup I think you can start a discussion. But you compare two brands?
At the end you will have results like this:
Program1 SPB vs Resco 1 - 0
Program2 SPB vs Resco 0 - 1
Program3 SPB vs Resco 0 - 1
Program4 SPB vs Resco 1 - 0
-----
Total score SBB - Resco: It's a tie
This thread seems useless to me. No offense!

Spb Backup Vs Resco Radio
- Data saving quality: Spb 1 - Resco 0
- Fun rate: Spb 0 - Resco 1
It's a Draw!

You'll prob get more answeres like this, but I think most, including myself use apps from both. Mainly because they don't have many apps that are similar.
Your real debate should be between Spb and SBSH, I think SBSH would win, I actually wish I did some more testing before.
But, I use:
Spb:
Backup
Time
Phone Suite
Insight
Diary
Sometimes Full Screen Keyboard (free, so i replaced with Resco KB)
Sudoku
Arkaball
From Resco:
Keyboard PRO
Explorer
Radio
Spb does have really good deals though, since you accumulate points by purchasing the apps, I think 2 or 3 of mine were free.

I think You posted this in the wrong forum. This forum is for software contributions, not discussion about existing retail software.

Ok, I've realized I posted this thread in the wrong topic. But from what I see its a tie between the two of them. I also don't think SBSH would have a chanse against SPB or Resco when it comes to quality products

I think that SBSH has really stopped developing for the Windows Mobile platform (and maybe focused on BB or iPHone)....I am sure there others that would deny this, but they have been amazingly absent in their forum for a LONG TIME, with no new releases. I am bummed about that, as I used to use a lot of their products. Now I don't use any SBSH stuff.

In a word, it can't be stated which of the two developers is better. All of their apps have strengths and weaknesses and they both have apps the other doesn't have anything comparable of (for example, Spb Pocket Plus, Resco Explorer or Resco Audio Recorder).
See my articles for one-on-one comparisons between their comparable products; for example:
Resco Brain Games vs. Spb Brain Evolution
Resco Radio vs. Spb Online
etc.

Menneisyys,
I searched for your comparison on these two products and was not able to find it. I am very interested in reading what you have to say about the "Online Radio" function of the two products.
Which has the broader format support?
Which has the larger library?
Is the library updated on-line?
Can the library be updated locally?
Thanks for any information.
Regards

to my knowledge resco doesnt have anything like spb mobile shell.
this is what i use.
SPB
spb mobile shell
spb time
spb backup
spb online
resco
resco audio recorder
resco explorer
this my i get the best of both worlds.
some say SBSH way better than SPB, i dnt know forsure coz havnt used SBSH products regularly.
SPB ive been using for a long time and am very happy with them.

diaty software for PPC?

Id like something that syncs with outlook/ journal and doesnt look totally gay like most diaries for PPC do. and a nice today plugin for it would be nice too. ANyone use any good ones?
So many posts on this subject...
Pocket Diary - http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com
PocketBreeze - http://www.sbsh.net
KitaraGenesis - http://www.quenchsoftware.com/index.php
to name but a few. I've had all three and paid for two of them. Wasn't impressed with SPB's effort so left it at a trial.
KitaraGenesis is a nice little today plugin and v customisable, however PocketBreeze is by far the better alternative I think. Well worth the money.
Ant
I mean a real diary app, not something to keep track off what to do.....but to write what I did and what bugged me on a certain day
Oops, sorry...

Don't know about any of them as I don't use my phone for journal making. Sure there's some good stuff there, though.

thats not what I meant, if you would have read the thread, you wouldve known this

What is the difference btw SPB Pocket Plus 3.2 and SPB Mobile Shell 1.0?

What is the difference between SPB pocket plus 3.2 and SPB mobile shell 1.0? Does anyone recommend one over the other? Or both can be used together?
Please advise, thanks!
Hi both can be used together they dont really compete with each other more like complement
this thread has more
http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3941
anyway ive got both and Diary and they work very very well
JEREMY
half off topic here but, i bought their pack of spb weather, diary, time, and pocket plus a while ago, i only use weather (no other uk freeware) and time (best software for my uses) nowadays. all spb products are very big and use ram, claunch and wm5newmenu and today agenda are much better and freeware,
back to topic, mobile shell, well i installed it, played with all the options, and eventually, i gave up trying to work out its purpose. all i could see that it does is give you a big clock image, notifications, battery and signal meters when you wake up the device (which you have to exit to do anything) it's sort of like a today screen before the real today screen, but with less info. other than that it give you the option to use your ppc with normal mobile phone style menus
I ditched shell in favour of pocket plus. The shell was too much of a memory hog. Install them (pocket plus first) and use the buzz dev Task Manager to see what I mean.
I like pocket plus with the BBC feed used in spb weather with the diary plug-in. I used to use cLaunch but prefer the flexibility of spb.
They can both be used in harmony and shell also allows you to integrate non spb today plug-ins into pocket plus (well, some). SPB shell is similar to, but not as sophisticated as, Wisbar Advance Desktop, and spb pocket plus is a launcher foremost - but you may also add to it spb weather/diary/sms/ etc. . .
I tested shell for a while but opted not to use it, but by all means give it a shot, loads of people seem to really like it.
After all, it is only my opinion.

Games/Applications that you're running on Touch Pro

Just thought it would be interesting to see which products you are running on your Touch Pro and how you are finding it?
UI
TouchFlo 3d - works fine am prepared to wait for later ROM releases for speed increases.
SPB Mobile Shell 2.1.1 - running in background for better navigation to all programs/games.
Apps
Resco Explorer 2008 v7.03
SPB Weather 1.7.4 Trial - though not liking it as much as the TouchFlo 3d version.
Google Maps updated to 2.2.0.16 (www.google.com/gmm in IE on your phone)
AvantGo - been using this for years great offline news service.
Games
SPB AirIslands Trial - not played
Resco Sodoku Touch v1 - nice Sodoku game
SPB Brain Evolution Trial - nice set of simple games to while away a train journey.
Tested Apps/Games
Winterface 1.1.1 - like the Unlock Slider, but preferred the current set-up otherwise.
TouchCommander - found it buggy and not as good as SPM Mobile Shell.
SPB Pocket Plus - superseded by Mobile Shell.
What games/apps do you have running and should I maybe try and purchase if that great??
I like the TouchFlo 3d Music and Picture Apps, is there anything else I should try that could remove this from my UI?
Hey guys... First time with a hardware keyboard. Could anyone reccommend any good game or emulator that works with the keyboard on Touch Pro?
UI
TouchFlo 3d - All form and no function for me. replaced with
SPB Mobile Shell.
Apps
Resco Explorer 2008 v7.03
SPB Weather
SPB Backup
Schapps Advanced config
IGO8
IM Plus
Games
Resco BrainTraining to keep me amused
Resco Sodoku
trying to find some simple games that amuse me, but not been successful yet. Or some classic adventure stuff. Will probably get round to installing Monkey Island using SCUMMVM at some point though
If you like Monkey Island, you could always install the original Broken Sword, that was ported to PPC by Astraware, was great fun to replay that game again!

Resco Explorer 2008
Gsensor Screenlock (installed it 2 minutes ago)
Google Maps

CradleAlarm
FlashLight
GoogleMaps
Resco File Explorer / Registry

WmWiFiRouter
You have to try snails!
It's like worms (for those who remember the old worms 2), but with snails instead. Can be played on 1 machine by many users (so it allows to have fun with friends) and brings back a lot of good childhood memories

hi marios96, try frotzce or pocketfrotz with all the various interactive fiction files (hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, zork etc.). if you are bored with that you can try the nethack port. if you are bored with that you can install pocketconsole and pocketcmd and compile all those unix console games (mastermind, hangman etc).

Apps for The ATT Fuze

Hey guys what are some good websites and good apps that are a MUST have when using your Fuze/Raphael??? I allready have the Gmail App and Google Maps... Give me your opinions.
Thanks
Your question could probably get as many different answers as there are users.
Beyond a couple of TouchFlo / Diamond Tweak apps, the MAIN applications am using on the Fuze are the same as used on my Axim (albeit Updated in some cases):
"Required" Productivity Apps
Pocket Informant
PhatNotes
FITALY
eWallet
Useful Productivity Apps
ListPro
PhatPad
Utilities (not Diamond/TouchFlo specific)
Resco Explorer
MemMaid
Tweaks2k2
TotalCommander (just because)
Skyfire
Apps Not Yet Ported to Fuze - but Probably Will Be
Spb Pocket Plus
Spb Diary (maybe...)
MS Streets & Trips - Pocket Streets (if it will run...)
Pocket eSword
CalcNote and/or RapidCalc
Apps that May Not make the move:
Calligrapher
Most Games (Axim has become default Game Player...)
MasterSoft Money
WebIS Money
WebIS Mail
ABDIdea
Other users, as noted, will almost certainly have different lists - or perhaps even an INVERSION of this one!
Happy App Hunting...
Bump BumpBump BumpBump Bump
Handango.com has commercial apps, but most look overpriced IMO.
On the other hand, one sometimes gets what they pay for at http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/
Some of the free apps are really terrific like S2U2, but there are some real stinkers posted there as well. READ THE USER COMMENTS FIRST!
Live Search Mobile. I love the Speech Recognition, it works darn good man.
Never mind searching; if you simply visit the "raphael software" forum here you'll see this excellent resource:

Totally agree. Got to admit, i have used the "special" search function before, but i didnt find it very helpfull........my opinion.
Must have for me:
Resco explorer & Resco registry= The best file manager
Resco Photo Manager= the best photo viewer(compatible with most formats)
Memmaid= the best cleaner
Batti=Since i am blind as a bat,the battery status bar is very important to me.
No Data= to diconnect/disable data connections......and increase the battery life.(still havent found the solution to disconnect after 1 minute,no tweaks/apps worked for meanyone can help?)
Nitrogen= The best music player
Those are just a few,but are the most important ones for me.
Tonic, welcome to xda, and remember, dont let anyone put you down. But do try and look around the forum (if u hadnt) for any answers. We all started as newbies once(i still am). Also, try to keep some thoughts/comments to yourself, even if someone else doesnt, try not to be the same as them.
Take care all! off to bed!
Thread tidied up.
