Weird development - Touch Pro, Fuze General

When i bought raphael, i had only problems with it>
-overheating when charged
-wifi didn't work properly
-gps sucked bigtime
-slow in applications that run smooth on HTC P3300
-battery didn't last one day (even when doing nothing)
After 2 weeks, everything improved, i don't know how , didn't install anything special, seems its adapting >
-the phone isn't getting so hot (ok, the weather is much cooler now)
-wifi is ok
-gps is better, still needs longer time to get a fix than P3300
-appz run faster
-battery works now 2 days without problems also with calling and sms
Still have problems with synchronising, get the 86000107, which can be fixed under extras/options/ and turning items to synchronise on and off (but it takes time)
So, all newbies, there is hope just wait some time!

I always find that battery performance gets better after a couple of weeks. I'm told that you need a bunch of charge/discharge cycles for the battery to reach optimimum, though I suspect that it's partly because I play with the phone a lot more at first!
I had one glitch with the GPS early on, where it just would not get a signal until I rebooted the device. I think the TP needs a stronger GPS signal than my old Bluetooth GPS device did, but its performance is generally more than acceptable.
I never have problems with the WiFi.
Performance I've always found to be fine, though I'm comparing with my old 200MHz Prophet. People who've had a 400MHz QVGA device might notice a drop... the TP doesn't have much more processing power, and it does have four times more pixels to move about.

i experienced the same with the battery life on my touch pro as well. It was pathetic at the beginning but now I manage to get 2 days almost out if it which is fine I guess...

Raphael Battary life

Hey, I have great problem with diamond battery ( Getting hot and drains fast). Others also have to same problem! Thinking of changing to Rapael.. Do you guys also have trouble as diamond and raphael look the same except the keyboard?
As the Raphael is not yet released, there will be no representative answer to your question for the moment.
You have to wait until it gets released and more and more people will report their experiences.
But one thing in advance: The Raphael battery is more powerful then the Diamond one.
Raphael (MDA Vario IV) shows me between 1 and 4 mW in standby which is very acceptable. Once i recognized (AFTER playing with GPS navigation hours before) that the device is pretty hot and when turning on it showed around 240mW (no applications running in background, all measures with batterystatus). A soft-reset solved this issue - so it MAY be the same OS-dependend "bug" which we had with our kaisers too... (Note: this is just my estimation, i cannot proof anything!)
I agree, the extra battery life of the 1340mAh battery certainly seems to be lasting much longer for me.
I have been using it pretty heavily while i have had it, even to the point of browsing the internet for about 3 hours yesterday over wifi and HSDPA. With arounf 40 minutes of calls, 20 text messages and an hour or so of Sudoku, Linerider, Pocket sand and teeter The battery still had 40% left at the end of the evening (11pm) from a full charge overnight to 100% at around 8:30am.
The Diamond would be down to it's last legs after that lot, if I was very lucky!
but in general, for a moderate user like myself, i can see this battery lasting 2 days every time, 3 days easily and on occasion 4 whole days.
Battery
I have found the battery gets just as hot as it did on the dimond and my battery life does not seem to be brilliant is there any fix for this or a setting that can be adjusted other than the normal ones

Come in and share your experience (Raphael is the worst )

Hello everybody
i have bought htc touch pro like a month ago and i am very unsatisfied with its performance i used to have an iphone and then iphone 3g....and also i used to hate the iphone but now i am convinced the iphone is the best (i know it is missing some stuff but at least i was satisfied with the performance)
htc touch pro almost has the worst battery life if you use wifi or talk and text alot it is dead in the matter of 2 to 3 hours....also the worst touch screen compared to the iphone this is a primative touch screen.....if you didnot reboot the device in 24 hours you will find the most slow performance and you will see the battery dies so quickly that will make you ask why is it dying and i am not even using the phone.
btw it takes like 3 to 4 hours to charge this phone and it dies in the matter of 15 hours so technically u cant even use the phone a complete day.
this phone freezes on a daily basis if u r using it like a normal pda to check ur mail and go over stuff on wifi ...it come to a point and decides to stop working and just freezes like this.
the buttons below the screen are so bad, it is not easygoing as it should be and this circle with the cursor keys has a very limited applications where it should be of great use (can u imagine what it would be like to have this circle with the application of an ipod classic one)
basically this not a cheap phone and compared to its price this phone is the worst among all the other pdas and i have only mentioned like 25% of its flaws so i wouldnt recommend that anyone buy it......i cant even sell this thing again since i have bought it.
In my opinion this phone needs a good software to handle it cababilites and to work on this problems.....windows is a big dissapointment every where.
this phone is like a car with a very good engine but with a very bad driver ....where the software is the driver
please if some managed to solve any of these problems i would really appreciate an advice
i have none of those problems...
Do you have any software in there to help you clear memory and close out programs? Do you utilize Task Manager to close and empty memory? If the program does not have a close feature you are leaving it open and running it in the memory most likely causing most of your bog down issues.
This will also eat up some battery life as the phone is trying to keep track of XX number of applications running in the background. It could also be causing some of your freeze up issues.
On the other hand, WinMo phones are not for everyone as it handles a bit different than your average Sony Ericsson or LG phone.
I dont really experience any of the problems you mention above. Battery life is quite impressive for a phone of this kind, and its performance is really good! Just make sure you check your running tasks once in a while and close the ones draining the most memory (you can sort the list after memory usage). This clears up memory and reduces battery usage.
Good luck!
yes, i have spb pocket plus with its close menu thing. i close my apps every now and then, but havent seen any (very little) change in battery with all apps closed/menu disabled
Sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience with your TPro.
I on the other hand have been using WM PDAs for about 10 years and think the TPro is the best yet. (I've also used SE, nokia and even apple!)
The performance isn't blistering (Yet but it almost as fast as the HTC universal I had (With the 128MB RAM and over clocked to 625Mhz) There have been some good improvements with the cooked ROMs and this thing has only been out for 6 weeks.
The range of features are pretty much second to none. Ok multitouch is missing, but at least I can use a stylus! I believe there will be a multitouch interface on the TPro using the buttons pad pretty soon
Battery life is not as good as my SE that used to last 10 days. But then again it didn't do 1/10 of what this baby can. I'm currently getting about 2days of moderate usage from the phone. If I use wifi continuously to surf at the airport I get about 5hrs. Thats almost as much as my dell D630 with an extended battery and most of the power saving features turned on. Compared to my Universal it lasts for ever!
To be honest your view of this phone depends pretty much on how you use it. If you want something that looks pretty and you just want a phone with an MP3 player that occasionally allows you to use the web: get an iphone!
If you want something that can do pretty much anything you want it to and your happy to do some fine tuning get a WMobile device.

Well spoken. I totally agree with you.
Sounds like you haven't even applied the tweaks here to increase performance (very easily done). Mine has been fine.
no problems with my TP, battery lasts 3 to 4 days.
had it 3 weeks now not had to reboot it yet because of failure.
Hands down best phone i've ever had. Very powerfull and fast. Stock ROM sucked though, flashing it with one of the cooked ROMs gives you a completely different device.
I disconnected it from the charger this morning at 6.30 AM, it's now 12.30 am and i'm at 82% of my battery. 31 phonecalls, 19 emails, 3 sms, push email on, bleutooth on. So i cannot possibly complain about the batterylife. In the evening when i go to sleep at midnight i'm often at 30-40% wich is very good considering the heavy use.
I want a phone with this properties otherwise why would i have bought it .....other than that i always check my task manager and close the open applications every 2 to 3 hours .....the phone as i said has a very good hardware but the thing that bothers me the most is the battery life (i use my phone to check my mail alot and i receive alot of phone calls daily due to my work but i cant make it through the day if i dont charge it in the middle.
and something else i didnt try the tweaks because i beleive that the phone should work fine without them and better with them but i cant see that my phone works fine.
also fyi since i got the phone i added some applications to it as i was happy it was a windows mobile so i can add as much as i want but after i saw the battery life i now have no applications installed except the one i have seen here with the battery life tweak.
guys i see that you are happy with your phone and i am ok with that but i have had some bad experiences with it that i am not happy about
easily the best and by far the most stable wm device ever (at launch). battery life could be better, but you should be used to that with wm device i think. it always lasts a day for me.
it has 9 functions I use on a daily basis that other phones do not have, if you dont need these functions then an iphone is probably your best bet.

From what cisc0 and WDawn say, I'm almost convinced there is something wrong with my battery.
I leave the phone on charge durring the day on my desk, it takes a rediculous 6+ hours to charge from just under 10% to 100%. From 5:30pm to the next morning at 8am it will be back down to under 10% and it doesn't seem to matter if I use it a lot or not at all.
My TYTN II Kaiser charges in about 1 hour and lasts nearly 3 days, used exactly the same way with phone & WiFi on on permanently (no data or bluetooth or anything else).
The TYTN II and Kaiser are almost exactly the same +50mah on The Touch Pro battery and a slightly faster ARM processor. Assume the WiFi, Radio chipsets and charging circuits are similar too - but might not be.
I've put all the tweaks on but havent really noticed any difference.

Are you guys using the a/c adapter to charge or mini-usb cable? Because using the usb takes longer to charge and also doesn't charge nearly as well than if you use the a/c adapter.
Also, out of curiosity, did you charge the battery completely before first using the device out of the package? It's always good to fully charge and fully drain a cell phone on first use, otherwise some people report battery life issues.
applied all the tweaks...
and seriously... this is the best phone I owned.. most of the problems people complained about, I don't face...
either I am very lucky or blessed...

Well said man. I totally agree. Very satisfied with my TP and I 'm pretty sure that many of Windows Mobile limitations will be fixed by xda experts.
One of the (basic) reasons to choose my TP was XDA forum.
By the way, Thank you guys.

I'm using the AC Adaptor.
One thing though, if the phone is switched off (fully off) it charges within 2 hours. But when on (even with the screen off) it takes 6+ hours.
The first time I charged it was with the AC adaptor, fully charged, but the phone was switched on. Would be worth trying to reset the memory in the battery and re-chargin with the phone off - but no idea how to reset the battery or if it is possible.
Other than this and thanks to fixing all other problems with tweaks from here, great phone. I'm sure a fix for this will be found.

well i hope the sprint version is improved somewhat.. they went out of their way to add a better battery to the diamond, so maybe they tweaked the TP's as well.
Ill give you my mogul for your touch pro ALL DAY LONG.
I am going to get a new mogul on the insurance replacement, it will be bran spankin new for you. I will even throw in an extra (old and looks like it) for parts
The TP is hands down the best device ever...and compared to the WM devices available on the American market...there is nothing that comes close. Fastest, prettiest, most useful device ever. All phones that are used for more than just dialing numbers have their share of issues (that's what happens when you multitask...even humans gets sloppy when they do it). I am so happy HTC created something to keep me from the iPhone and Blackberry. I have never been this happy before.
I am in so much love, think I'm getting an HD when it comes out. I will alternate between the two depending on my mood. But the great news, I'm not like the 80% of my friends that have an iPhone and can't Copy/Paste!

Touch hd battery 3/4 then next minute empty?? Why

Bought HTC Touch HD second hand -(nearly new) the other day and think it's great. Had one locked password screen ( HTC's have habit of doing this occasionally) and needed hard reset, but in the whole great PDA.
However, couple of times now battery charged night before and checked in morning - only two bars gone. Then an hour later gone to turn phone on and it has no battery life in at all. Not been used except for perhaps alarm. No WIfi on and no programs running. This has happened twice now. I have updated to the latest ROM as soon as I got it and problems hae occured after that. Could this be the reason.
It has only happend in the mornings. Charging up fine again now, but has left me high & dry without warning. p.s I check battery life all the time but it just went from nearly full to none in an hour??? Why

Any ActiveSync / Messaging / IM / other data-pull services active? What is the signal strength in your area? I live in a strange area: in my room I sometimes have 70% strength, ten minutes later only 10% - maybe this drains your battery.
turned off 3g
Noticed since I turned off 3 G battery life has been great. I t did searchquite a bit on H and 3g. perhaps this was the battery eater. Cheers anyway.
May also want to check your running apps as harddisk_wp was discussing. I had a very similar issue come up with my Kaiser/Tilt a few years back. I went from having great battery life to having maybe 2 hours max. Was carrying a second battery, etc., etc... Come to find out, the problem wasn't with my battery, it was with the software the phone was running. Specifically, that time, Emoze. The PC Connector was causing a problem (corrupt file) and every time it connected, it sent a pile of data, failed, then reconnected, and continued the loop, over..and over..and over again...
Needless to say, I corrected the problem (Emoze support made suggestions, a few weeks later I was gone from Emoze completely). Anything using data, heavy or not, can effect your battery life dramatically. Your 3G of course will drain it more, as will WiFi, but in my experience it is related to the data being processed itself...
-John
Thxs for that. Since I disconnected from 3G battery life has been great. End of each day still only two bars gone with lots of use. Ryan
^^yep, that darn 3G can suck the guts out of these batteries!

[Q]Mango Battery Life?

All right, so here's the big question. Okay, one of the big questions. For all yous who have DL'd and installed the Mango beta, how's the battery life?
I have a NoDo'd DVP and I generally can get 9 and a half to 12 and a half hours on a single charge depending on what I'm doing. Games being the biggest battery vampire I've found, thus far. Streaming vid a close second (perhaps tied).
Can't tell any difference. Never been an issue on my Arrive. It says I have 16 hours left(with battery saver kicking in if it gets critically low), and it has been 12 hours since my last charge.
I play a few games a day. Some web. Music. Testing of Mango features. Getting features to work. Lot's of texts. And my 3 email accounts syncing frequently.
I do have wifi disabled as that was preventing speech recognition from connecting to MS servers for some reason. So that may have improved battery life a little.
Good to know. Figured it would be about the same. The real test is how it will do once the LTE/HSPA+ devices hit.
I'm actually noticing better battery life. I definitely have been playing with the phone a lot since Mango, even more than normal, and the battery has been pretty awesome so far. Course its not scientific, but it appears that I'm getting more hours out of it than pre-Mango.
I think it's better in Mango but it's hard to say how much and if any better at all. If I had 2 windows phones I'd love totest it to find out.
Anyway I'm really happy with mango, I have to stop using facebook chat or I'll not get any work done today!
the battery life is better, just remember that multitask is in now
In previous version you don't have it
In my situation (lg optimus 7) battery life seems a little bit shorter than NoDo...
I turn on the phone in the morning (8-9 am) and I've to plug in for charge at night (11pm-12am)..
I've 2-3 live tiles active in the home screen... with NoDo i Could permform 1 and a half day of usage... I think this is a mango bug, or my battery just need a recalibration for the new O.S.
I'll check it in the upcoming days
I feel like my battery life has gotten worse, but I have 4 live tiles running and facebook chat on, although I had the same on my nodo device save facebook chat. And I think the battery saver option basically just allows you to turn the feature off. Wasn't the whole stopping push notifications done automatically in nodo when the battery was low? Now you just have to option to disable and kill your battery faster.
Hmm, I too have the feeling the battery life is worse. I just recharged to 100% and battery saver says I have 23 hrs left. After 1 hour without doing anything I have 80% (17 hours) left . I turned on airplane mode and disabled location now to see if it's getting better.
I also feel the battery life got worse. However, remember this is a debugged build, it's logging alot more as you are using it and I'm sure there's still alot more optimizations to go.
With that being said, I'll gladly take 2-3 days instead of 3+ days on a single charge for the features added. For those only getting 12+ hours, somethings wrong with your phone. There's not that much more getting executed vs NoDo until more devs take advantage of background services and live tile updates.
Hmm, yeah maybe my battery is quite exhausted already. I use the phone daily listening to music at the train, playing a game or two and browsing. That is, I recharge every single night and sometimes again in the afternoon. So I guess I have recharged the phone ~300 times since I purchased it last year.
Overall, better. I did opt for the 1800mah battery for my Trophy and it did help a little (keep the OEM one always charged, just in case). I think it works better
Its quite a bit better for me. I can usually go through a full day with battery saver generally kicking in near the end of the day (9-10pm). Bluetooth headsets for music does kick it down a bit but not terribly, usually my BT headset runs out before my phone.
Focus/mango.

Interesting, I knew back in WM 6.5 using a BT headset would take a 12 hour battery and make it last no more than 6 and that was if you didn't talk on the phone much.
Is Bluetooth better with WP7 where it's a very minor battery loss ? ( might pick up a new bt headset)
Mine is better. But only slightly. Eg. 45min to 1 hr better.
I'm using a Focus

how do u know that its doing logging??
if yr sim card is more than 2 years old y will experience battery drain
There is definitely a bug in battery saver
There are to things to think about: The first one is that we have update our phones to Mango, but not the manufacturer so we have old drivers with new OS. And the second is that at least I, i've been so far 8 months with my HTC Trophy so the battery also losses capacity (mAh) in this time. In 1 year usually a battery only has 80% of its original capacity.
I have actually feel the better battery life.

Touch sensitivity isue...

Hi, I have g920f with very strange issue: in warm conditions (normal room, day warm) it is perfect: usual for Samsung flagship. But at little colder conditions (not so cool normal night about 10 degrees) it becomes much worse. I have no idea about this really
edit:
no feedback I cannot believe nobody else have this problem.
I tried few stock and all most eminent custom roms- all give same issue:
I am not sure is problem battery level or / and long inactivity and /or ram usage.
Usually at morning when battery is full or more than approximately 70% touch is perfect- usual for samsung premium devices (I have used most of them).
But afternoon, battery is less than 65 or and longer inactivity (walk outside 1,5hour for example) when wake up by home it is clearway unresponsive (more on right keyboard side, but everywhere generally).
Than, next day same, at morning full device like new one touch have...
really I dont understand...
There are some device codes you can put in on the phone that do component tests etc. May be worth a quick google.
I have similar, but much worse issues. My phone is becoming totally unresponsive, when it cools down. It is not even turning on. Then when I heat it up with a hairdryer it becomes fully functional with no problem whatsoever. I tried everything mate, roms, kernels, different battery, nothing worked. So I'm guessing it's either a display or motherboard issue.
