Raphael Battary life - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hey, I have great problem with diamond battery ( Getting hot and drains fast). Others also have to same problem! Thinking of changing to Rapael.. Do you guys also have trouble as diamond and raphael look the same except the keyboard?

As the Raphael is not yet released, there will be no representative answer to your question for the moment.
You have to wait until it gets released and more and more people will report their experiences.
But one thing in advance: The Raphael battery is more powerful then the Diamond one.

Raphael (MDA Vario IV) shows me between 1 and 4 mW in standby which is very acceptable. Once i recognized (AFTER playing with GPS navigation hours before) that the device is pretty hot and when turning on it showed around 240mW (no applications running in background, all measures with batterystatus). A soft-reset solved this issue - so it MAY be the same OS-dependend "bug" which we had with our kaisers too... (Note: this is just my estimation, i cannot proof anything!)

I agree, the extra battery life of the 1340mAh battery certainly seems to be lasting much longer for me.
I have been using it pretty heavily while i have had it, even to the point of browsing the internet for about 3 hours yesterday over wifi and HSDPA. With arounf 40 minutes of calls, 20 text messages and an hour or so of Sudoku, Linerider, Pocket sand and teeter The battery still had 40% left at the end of the evening (11pm) from a full charge overnight to 100% at around 8:30am.
The Diamond would be down to it's last legs after that lot, if I was very lucky!
but in general, for a moderate user like myself, i can see this battery lasting 2 days every time, 3 days easily and on occasion 4 whole days.

Battery
I have found the battery gets just as hot as it did on the dimond and my battery life does not seem to be brilliant is there any fix for this or a setting that can be adjusted other than the normal ones

Battery Life seems very short

I don't see anything else on this, so perhaps there's something wrong with my Touch Pro -- I'm only getting ~6 hr battery run time, and that's with only the EDGE radio/email/push mail -- no wi-fi, no blue tooth..... seems very short (actually, makes it unusable for me). My Touch Cruise will go all day, with bluetooth.
I'm open to suggestions.
glad you raised this one - mine did the beep beep to dieat 6am this morinng - charged it up and its already only got one battry bar left!!!
wow, mine is doing all of the above as well as blackberry mail and it keeps its charge for days.
Yea mine is the same way. The battery doesn't last very long at all.

Days? I find that hard to believe. I reckon if you made no calls at all but left it doing mail only you';d get 2 days at the absolute outside.
Start making calls and stuff and you'r definitely looking at well short of 24hours. I get up between 7 and 8.30am most days and by 22.00 I reckon I'd be looking at having to put it on charge if i've been using the device, making calls etc.
Weird. I have a data connection constantly on, have an exchange sync server and IMAP mail set to poll every hour, and I'm went thru two days with 40% battery remaining. This is with phone calls as well.

I'm finding these comments of making it through days of use very hard to believe. I'm not saying you're lying or anything but I can assure you that most of us are not experiencing anything of the sort. I knew this full well, the TyTN II was not really that much different (perhaps slightly better but nothing but a knats **** in it).
I take you guys are using the standard supplied battery and not some 2000mAh monster in there?
Battery Long Life Extender Software, Now In A Cab File, The Real Deal!
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413297 and get the long life battery extender software, works like a charm, just install to the main memory, works like magic, the real deal................!
Perhaps a comment on the radio bands being used aswell (naturally if you are set to GSM only also).
Long Battery Life
A days useage is what I'm getting at the moment. (ie unplug at 6.20am - start charging at 10pm ish.)
Couple of phone calls, dozen webpages, 2 hours of music, (wired headphones) Activesync running the time.
This is the same as my hermes with the standard battery.
The one thing I will add is that, from my experience, signal strength massively affects battery life. I go to a village in the French countryside once a year, with one cell tower in the middle of the village. The area is very flat, so I get maximum signal everywhere. (I don't go anywhere else.) With Activesync on instant for 14 hours a day and then polling once an hour, 1 phone call a day, plus half a dozen websites a day, I get over three days of useage. (Couldn't believe it at first ) Interestingly, the first year i went with my hermes, I only got 2 days. Several radio upgrades later, I was up to 3 days. (3G is turned off.)
Bottom line, I think we're going to have to wait for improved radio software to help

Not bad...
My PRO last all the weekend and I didn't do anything special: a few minutes on calls, some text messages, some wireless and GPS! I don't consider bad. Usually, with more use, it lasts 1,5 day
Same problem here.
Disconnected from charger today morning at 7:00
Couple of calls (summary 15min) some callendar entries added, couple of SMS (10 or sth)
No GPS, Wifi enabled just for 2min, all day in 3G field or Edge, 15min of game (solitare afair)
40% of battery at 13:30 :|
ActiveSync was enabled all the time - now it's unloaded permemently (tips provided in other topic on Raphael phorum)
so I'll check if there is any improvement in battery life.
As I mentioned in other topic - for me TP is a typical city phone:
Wake up, disconnect TP from charger and go to work (listen music or browsing the web but if you are planning to use GPS additional car charger is required) then at work you should stay connected to charger or USB. Disconnect your TP and go home (music listening is allowed or even web browsing) but at home dont forget to recharge your TP because out of battery alarm is going to start soon.
Unfortunatelly it's true.
B.
Me too.
Couple of phone calls. (20 min.)
WiFi on, for 15 min.
No 3G enabled.
Charged over night, took it from loader at 7:30, now at 23:00, only 20% left.
Ok, I have S2U2 running, seems to eat battery, but without S2U2 it's not much better.
My Kaiser seems to do much better, I was able to do 2 days without charging.

thanks
be intresting if someone disables the 3D accelerated interface, thebasic 2D screen dosnt have acceleration so it would be intresting to see ho much, if any, extra juice is needed to make it look pretty

I don't use TouchFlo3D, just see my post above.
Not really better battery results.
I always use PocketBreeze and PhoneAlarm on my today screen.
@Mitch92uK
?? 3D? I said 3G.
Do you mean the same as dazza9075?
The first night with the touch pro was alarming - when i went to bed the bat was fully charged, and after 6 hours of standby the battery was almost flat, about 12%
What i did was:
1 - Deactivate activesync with Dotfred's taskmanger by disabling replog.exe notifications (learned from another thread)
2 - Disabled 3G
3 - Disabled autoupdates for RRS Hub + weather progs, etc.
4 - Disabled autostart of Operaprel + rsshub and sddaemon by tweaking the reg.
5 - Cleaned up the startup folder.
Now when i soft reset the device it starts up with only 14 processes and the battery life was greatly improved as i get almost 2 days of autonomy as it was with the Touch Cruise.
Hope this can help you too.
This didn't last long, it happened again. 70 % of battery drained over night...
I thought i had it solved but unfortunately i don't understand what's causing this. It went fine for a couple of days.
In my case i thought there was a process consuming batt while on stand by, but now, i don't know anymore.

I have exactly the same. And I am a complainer!!
So much better than my TytnII, and now I use 3G all the time, and have Messenger (Agile) switched on frequently.
I installed only ListPro, Ewallet, Coreplayer, Resco and some minor stuff.
I did nothing of the things written here above.
I am really happy with the battery use. In fact it's the first time I am satisfied with a WM device on the issue of battery.
When (of course) heavily playing with it, the first days, I always let it drain till the last warning and fully loaded it during the night. That's the only thing I can say about it.
I use this 3d Flow.
I have my backlight on auto adjust. I had the idea that it drained faster when full blown, but not sure.
So I am quite shocked/amazed about the experiences here. When will it be my turn?
Huib
About 40 phonecalls a day (ring + vibrate) , 50 emails, 10 or so sms, realtime sync with exchange for both email, contacts and planning, 3G on, bluetooth on, two hours paired with bluetooth carkit, wifi on for like 15 minutes, 1 hour of music, screen on auto and some fiddling around with the settings (changing wallpapers and playing teeter . Start at 6.30 am, back on the charger at 11 pm, still 30% battery left.
I consider that as very good compared to my Tytn i used to have.

What happened to my battery life?

This week I upgraded my S710 to WM6.1 (the current Gonzo ROM) and overall am happy but today I have noticed something very odd.
I normally charge my phone on the dresser overnight and then take it off charge around 8am at the start of my working day. I run push email from my corporate exchange server between 8 and 8 and make many calls. By the end of the day (I normally go to bed and put the phone back on charge around midnight) the phone has maybe 45% battery left.
We today has been a typical day and it is 11pm yet the phone still claims to have 79% charge left. Yesterday was much the same.
I have the tornado software ramped up as well for a faster clock speed.
So either WM6.1 is a lot better at power management, WM6 had a big problem or the software is miss reporting.
Has anybody else seen this?
PS
If my new S740 is this good at power management when it arrives I will be very very impressed.
its a programs issues, with the oficial spanish ROM i got this problem, when i open camera or windows live messenger and pass to second plane, even with the wifi off, the programs consume a lot of energy, no idea why, with gonzo "mona liza" ROM my battery life its very long, even with a lot of wifi use, camera and msn open always, i think WM 6.1 work much better with the resources, Regards
I noticed the same thing today
After 6 hours of idle it used 1%, normally it consumes about 5-10% in that time on doing nothing.
I'm happy with it
LoL I'm using TPC and I'm used to those situation My phone stayed in idle for 3 days and the battery was about 57%...the I looked for composing an sms and...tadaaaaa...LOW battery 10%...so be aware that that is not a good method for measuring battery life.
Yes i was already afraid this would happen.
Ah well, i'll test it on my vox now too will post when i have information.

How long does your battery last?

Hello friends, I currently have a fuze flashed with NRG's latest EnergyROM and I can only push about 5 hrs of heavy use or 8hrs of light use.
Light use consists of:
150 Text messages,
Email every 15 minutes,
3G Turned off
20 Minutes total talk time (Not even sometimes)
Windows Live Messenger online (not the whole day, just a couple hours) and maybe having a 20 minute IM conversation.
Heavy use consists off:
Music Playing
Heavy Texting (300 or more texts)
Screen on most of the time
Most use on EDGE
Browse a couple websites
Maybe some youtube on 3G
I have uninstalled Gyrator to get better life.
I have flashed many ROMs and I this is the best I can get to. How is your experiences? I'm willing to flash 6.1 or 6.5. Let me know what works for you with ROM + Radio + Rilphone combo you have. Thanks!
Everything depends on the rom u have installed. Try this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528217
i drop about 5 pct an hour without doing anything at all

My battery lasts about 2 days if I don't use the phone heavily but I think that if you squeeze a day out of your Pro with heavy use as you mentioned, you can be glad...
Most of the smartphones use a lot of battery in case of heavy use....
my stock battery lasts me something like 24 hours with medium use. battery life is very radio/rom/charge pattern dependant.

Right, but even with the slightest use I can only squeeze no more than 10 hrs. I tried every lots of combos with radio and ROMs. NATF 4.7 and Elite RC4 was pretty good enough but I want WM 6.5. Im gonna try the radio you have on your sig just for the heck of it and an almost empty ROM to see what I can accomplish.
Thank you everyone
ya i made sure to match up rilphone
Put it like this... im running Energyrom and I took my phone off the charger at 7 am EST. Right now it's 10:10 EST and I'm down to almost 65% already. That's with Beejive, Seven email with 3 accounts and about 10-15 texts. If I didnt like the rom so much I wouldve dumped it long ago but I just suffer and carry a charger with me.
Check out this program.

I know what you mean. It REALLY hurts but at least you make it thru the day. I can't. But EnergyROM is so slick and fast... I tried the Dynasty Rom its one of the best on battery I've ever had but its a little too buggy for my taste and the iPhone like home screen is not my thing.

I have been able to reduce the battery consumption to almost zero on stand by. But it uses 1-2% per minute on Wifi or GPS use. Infact it gets drained fater than it gets charged if GPS is used connected to car charger, with data and WiFi off.
My only gripe is that it gets drained fater than it charges on car charger when GPS is ON.

If this is light use, then I am Osama bin Laden. 150 messages, WLM and IM means that your display is on most of the time (while reading and replying), and display is one of the great consumers of the battery. Also, the fact that your checking email so often, and you're on internet through IM and WLM, means that you're online practically all the time. Internet is the greatest battery killer, btw. Anyway, I would recommend you to use the stock ROM because the battery lasts longer than majority of custom ROMs, and if don't want that, you shouldn't use 6.5 OS - it's a battery hog at this time. Also, lower your backlight, set in power settings "Turn off the device after 1 minute" and do a search on this forum about more battery saving tips.

I know the brightness is a total killer. Last year I had 15 phones... My SIM card is so beat up that it looks like a dog chewed on it. I know all the battery saving tips. I just can't make it work. I do not constantly check WLM. Just once maybe a half hour but I do not IM. I just leave it on. The blackjack II lasts me a whole day from 7 to 12 with email, WLM, major texting, browsing the web and more. I'm not comparing the 2 but the battery life REALLY sucks on this thing. Stock ROM is too slow and useless for my taste. I'm flashing timlol's like-stock ROM to see. The Dynasty ROM really has good battery life but its too buggy. Man I sound so pessimistic. Lol. I still love this phone.

You don't have to check WLM or IM all the time, it's enough that you are connected to web all the time. Blackjack II has a 2,4" display wioth 320x240 resolution, & Raphael 2,8", 480x640. HTC could've integrate bigger battery, but then our Raphael would be a fat piggy phone.
Btw., Timolol's ROM is pretty stable & good on battery - good choice.
dont forget batteries aren't meant to be permanent. they are consumables!
After 1 year of normal usage you should notice the battery isn't quite what it used to be. after 2 years, it will seem like it needs more charges then it did before.
After 3 years and longer, IMO, its just time to replace the battery.
I replace by laptop battery every 2 years (same chemistry as my cellphone battery), and each time I am shocked and how bad the old one was.
New is always better in the case of batteries.
My next point is that HEAT is the main enemy to any battery. Keeping the phone in your pocket or hot car is worse then in a purse or on a table.
Aside from that, theres a ton of good info above about lowering the drain on the battery and therefore increasing its useful life.

Well unfortunately, I must keep my phone inside my pocket or in a case most of the time since I go to school and I do not want the teachers on my case. And looks like the rapahel likes to run a little hot and I'm really scared for my battery. But at least I have two (one from my old Fuze which only lasted me a month since i broke it :-( )
But yeah, my phone gets warm sometimes, and its with most radios. Some more than others but even with matching rilphone. Not sure what thats all about...
About half a day or so, but that's with me listening to music most of the day and EDGE with Exchange Activesync on.
I used to have crazy battery drain. RRE I got 5 hours tops with 3g on and a bit of internet and texting. NRG synergy rom I got 8-10 hours in GSM mode only with 1 hour of internet and a hand ful of texts.
I just flashed my radio to 1.14.25.05 and flashed the new warhawk NRG rom and I took my phone off the charger at 945am and its currently 5pm and Ive been texting most of the day with 3g on and Im currently at 82% battery. All settings are just as they are set right out the box with a freshly flashed warhawk rom.

[REF]Elf's battery drain observation

Hi guys,
I have been struggling for quite a while to investigate why my battery drain is about 150mA best case. I have installed Onyx micro version and disabled almost all unnesessary services and applications, and yet could not live a day even in stand by mode without recharging. Battery capacity is 1100mA, so with 150mA drain, it lasted less than 10 hours per day.
I have checked almost all available ROM's on this site, starting with the original HTC one.
No luck ! So, I've concluded it was no ROM issue. Then, I started to play with IPL and SPL. I had both version 3.14.
To make the long story short, I found the best combination of IPL 3.14 and SPL 3.10
Now I have 91-100mA stand by current drain all the time. Sometimes during the night this value droops to 41mA.
I am preety happy with this and also wonder whether anyone has managed to get a better battery life for his Elf ?
Cheers.
The two things you haven't looked at are the radio and the SIM. I'd try with a different sim for 24 hours and search for the best radio rom. My Elfin battery life is terrible but I think it's down to using M2D.
there is a lot of factor that could affect the battery life, from software, to hardware, the most common problem, is battery age, as old your battery are, the less it will hold the charge. on my elfin I have onyx 5.1.1, IPL 3.10 and HSPL 3.10, radio 3.39.90(I'm having better signal with almost no difference in battery drain) I use the backlight on the second darker step, not the default second brighter one. I usually take no more than 10 calls at day, each one of about 1 to 2 minutes, usually don't use(and is always off) the wifi, the bluetooth I use it occasionally while driving about 3 miles from work to home, and to listen to music at work, 1 or 2 hours per day. data connection(EDGE) is always on, but not used very often just to check email once in a while and update weather once of two time a day.
my battery holds for 2 days, most 2 days and a half.
I think your battery may be the problem, maybe is quite old.
dont forget it can be affected by the network coverage too. in fact some of the power regulation in gsm network is managed from the base station.
EDIT: i mean, besides a hundred other things network-controlled that can affect your battery life, the antenna can actually tell your phone how much power it must use when transmitting.

[Q] What is "normal" battery life?

I switched from an old WinMo 6.5 (Verizon Imagio) to G2x. Absolutely love it, except the battery life (there is backlight bleed too, but not too annoying).
But when I read thread here, seems my battery life is kind of okay?
1) Went to sleep at 1:20am. Phone had Gmail sync, Exchange sync every 15 minutes, News & Weather widget, and ScoreMobile widget. Checked battery at 5:40am, it was down 11%. So roughly 10% battery every 4 hours. This means 40 hours battery life if I leave the phone idle.
2) Today I wanted to drain the battery then give it a full charge. So I factory reset device twice (each time it automatically downloaded all 28 apps I installed before). A 1 minute phone call. About 1 hour web browsing. 10 minute Goolge Maps Navigation. Tweeked settings of my favorate text reader and read a novel for about 2 hours. Then watched YouTube for 30 minutes. Other time, phone was left in my pocket. Battery lasted about 11 hours.
So, is it normal battery life for G2x? With CM7, is it possible I can extend the battery life to 16 hours in scenario 2?
I think it is NOT normal battery life because when reading the novel (screen brightness at 20%), I can see 1% battery drop every 3 minutes!!! The text reader just displays static text until I flip page. My reading speed is about 2 pages/minute.
Compared to my WM 6.5 device, I barely notice any battery drain when using the same text reader app (WM version of course), same book and same reading speed.
Well people have found that the only issue with android really is the damn battery! some live through it, some buy extended batteries (like myself) and others just don't feel it since they are used to charging regularly. When compared to winmo 6.5 android is just doing so much more in the background comparitively even though winmo 6's multitasking is pretty neat. I guess other thigns to consider would be your screen resolution and that damn 14.whatever hsdpa chip you got in there!
Btw if you are using a app killer, i suggest try taking it off and see if you feel any diffrence.. i did.. i just found out the rogue app and said good bye to task killers and my battery was a little bit more promising then since it was on an aggressive kill certain app more earlier.
One thing though if you were to put the phone on a stanby time you will notice that it could really last but when doing something you can as you said practically seen it burn fuel, I guess the advancements in tech/screens/etc are just way beyond todays batteries!
I found my stock 2.1 doing much much MUCH better than CM7 or 6 even though people say Cyanogen was doing much better on some phones in terms of battery.
Can somebody post the battery life of their Vibrator compared to this phone?
I'm so mad, U mad?
I had mine off charger for maybe a total of 15mins cause I was deleting stuffoff the sdcard and battery was full it dropped 3% within 15mins
I had my myt4g with miui rom idle with wifi on for awhile yesterday and it didn't drop a % until I used it but even then it still hardly was draining. This LG drains way to fast!!
The battery life WILL improve over the first few charges. My Nexus S was TERRIBLE when I got it. 8-10 hours max. After 2 weeks or so, I was getting 25-30 hours of moderate usage.
The G2x I got ~ 14 hours of usage right out of the gate. I'm on full charge cycle 3 or 4 now, and I'm already over 19 hours. Hoping I can end up at around 25 hours or so.
The batteries AND the OS need time to 'learn' each other. The batteries need to break in as well with a full COMPLETE charge cycles. IE charge too 100% and use it until it dies, then charge fully. It also helps to leave it on the charger for about 8 hours PAST it hitting 100% the first time for some reason.
