I want to replace the blue keyboard lights... - HTC Vox

I bought a used S710 on ebay and it has some body damage so I'm going to replace the entire housing. While I'm at it I'd also like to get rid of the blue back lighting on the keyboards (mainly the qwerty one). Is there anyway to replace the LEDs with something easier to read, like white? For some reason the blue seems difficult to me.

sure, everything is possible.
But, those leds are really really tiny and difficult to solder

You're not the only one. I've got 10/20 vision and zero colour blindness issues, and I still have issues reading the blue backlit chars. What a dumb idea that was!
GL replacing the LEDs though, they would be tiny if they're individual LEDs!

I think some tech geek could do this for you! Although then, warranty would be gone!

Yeah, I'm not too worried about warranty since I bought it with a broken screen on ebay!
I went ahead and did the housing swap without changing the LEDs. There's no way I have the skill to replace those tiny things, and it wasn't worth paying someone to do it.
Thanks for the replies anyway.

Well I thought you might have a friend with the skills to do it! Otherwise it's a pretty difficult task, the heat destroys the circuit bord very fast, touch it too long and it's gone...for ever!

I would love to do that - I take it I am not the only one who has trouble focusing on the intense blue LEDs?
I need a new front housing for my Vox if I can get hold of just this part then I will have a look at what kind of a job it will be.

That's all I needed also, but I could only find full kits on ebay.

The BEST replacement stylus?

Everyone in the office just got new phones, most people chose D810 - Trinity. From the rate of broken styluses so far it seems we're going to need to order some soon. What's the best? Overall quality is more important than having a ballpoint. Search didn't turn up any obvious favorites. Links to sellers very much appreciated.
(Do NOT twist your original stylus. I wish I could say they snap like twigs but your average twig is considerably stronger!)
How the .... can you break them? they are really robust.
i need a white replacement also, i would like a original one if possible.
I lost one, and i want a spare stylus just in case.
could someone give some help on this, i just seem to find black one (and besides the color i dont know if they fit well..)
thanks

Twist... as if you are trying to unscrew the top of the stylus. Not hard to do unintentionally if you are getting it out one handed.
I have these ones that have a ball point pen built in as well. They seem solid (they actually feel more solid that the original), the tip is not overly hard and it means you have a pen handy as well for the times you need on.

However I don't know if he has then in white, best to check with the seller.
When I bought them they took about 4 days to get to me in Sydney.

I thought this as well when i originally looked at this thread. But yesterday I dropped my stylus, it landed on rocks from a height of around 4 foot and broke.
www.boxwave.com
We brought around 12 unit of Dopod D810, 11 unit black color and 1 white color.
Almost all black color D810 user broke their stylus.
Local Dopod service center allowed the stylus to be exchange within the warrenty period, but I believed Dopod won't re-engineer and redesign their stylus and will give us the same 'hightech' same quality stylus as replacement.
A simple drop from anywhere 1 feet above ground will break the stylus into two ..Arh! Is so frustrating .. Goash!

Is there a film on the buttons?

Hi. I really am confused now... There is a film coming off from the main buttons (below the screen) I didn't put it there but it really seems similar to the screen protective shield. My question - is it replaceable part or is the device getting broken? If yes, is it a specific material (to let the touch to the buttons)? The point is I have a place to get custom screenshields and I'd surely make one for the lower part also
Thanks in advance.
InvisibleShield is the way to go
If you have the CDMA Version:

If you have the GSM version the link is:

and if you have the verizon version :
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield...es-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
Well worth the money man! I swear by this product. (Especially as I have a bad habit of throwing my phone in the same pocket as my keys.
EDIT: They make the screenshields, along with the lower part, back part and sides!

Woo man thanks BIG time. This is really worth the money. But as I mentioned I have friends who have the precise tools to produce the shield. It is called "rock/stone-proof" if you translate from estonian. Just wondering if it wont block the touch capability of buttons (they are touch responsive, not pressure responsive like the screen)
you can also get the ones from Bodyguardz which is just as good.
OK. Great replys.
And now the big question:
Was there supposed to be a film AT FIRST on the buttons? I never put it there. It seems a bit fatter than the notorious screenshield. But the surface below it is smooth and the homekey "house" also doesn't seem affected so i think it is separate part. I haven't dared to rip it entirely off yet. But I want to know if I can replace it because the open corner is really ugly for noe
youre talking about the laminate coming up on the navipad buttons. its a common problem and there are many threads about it. http://www.fuzemobility.com/keys-peeling/ if you have att they will replace you with a new "fixed" phone. if you dont then htc probably wont do anything for you. you can pull it up but you may have a problem getting the glue residue off.

Thank you big time. This was the best reply. Of course the situation is making me a bit nervous... Well I have decided to pull it off anyway and am going to replace it with the shield I mentioned before.
Thanks. End of thread I think.
SOLVED!
The custom shield is working. Made with Adobe Illustrator. Based on scanning. Just put the raph into a scanner and redraw the outlines. The output came from Roland plotter/printer/slicer/whatever it is. For free.

Cracked Screen on my Touch Pro

I dropped my touch pro and cracked the screen in a few places. I think it works normally except for the screen, as it receives calls fine...
A new phone isn't in my budget right now. Does anyone know of a good place (hopefully in DC, MD or VA) that will supply or install a replacement touch screen?
(btw, no recent threads came up when I searched.)
Ebay!
Just looked, $30 including postage for a screen & digitiser if you are able to do it yourself.
How hard is it to replace a screen if it has surface damage? Is there anywhere i could find a walkthrough or help?
Shame man, its a tragedy of what happened to your phone...
Luckily its not too bad, and you may just be able to fix it. You can download the service manual for the phone here: http://htcwinmobile.blogspot.com/2009/03/htc-raphaeltouch-pro-service-manual.html
Just a note though, make sure you DO USE tweezers or something to get the speaker wires out of the way before snapping the enclosure back into position... I had to reopen the phone again, after powering it, to rejoin one of the little wires thats like a tenth of a millimeter thick DO NOT IGNORE ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU IN THE MANUAL. Oh, and what works well for the "plastic removal tool" is a cut out piece of plastic ice cream container. AGIAN, do not ignore anything in there... You are voiding the warranty permanently when you do it yourself (which you unfortunately have to).
Anyways, good luck!
I drop my phone also, but the screen didn't actually cracked! but I do have is problems with the screen in other ways! Sometimes I get a black screen when I turn on the phone and sometimes not, but when the screen turns on, it flickers a lot and have lines thru it. What suprises me is that sometimes I get perfect images on the screen (Which makes me think that the screen it's not damaged).
Any suggestion would be apreciated. Thanks!
3 days and still no answer from anyone! I would like someone to throw me ligth on this issue. I'm waiting for this to know exactly what I need to buy, before I start assuming things.

Sounds like the LCD connector may have come unseated. You could open up the phone and make sure all connectors are firmly seated if you feel confident in your abilities.

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking on that also and wanted to take my chances opening the phone (oh god!).
BTW, I saw the $30 LCD Screen+Digitizer combo on ebay that Beeble referred to, but I'm not sure if it fits on the fuze (my model). What have come to my mind it's to buy also the front camera of the phone (like a thread on the kaiser) to mod the cell, in case I need to buy the screen+digitizer. I've search all threads about this issue but nobody has done it because it was too expensive for the result; I believe with this price it's worth it right now!
solved
Try this steps:

I used Diamod (!) LCD and Touch Pro digitiser. Works perfect.
Much more cheaper
If your screen works fine sometimes, you most likely don't need to replace it. there's probably just a loose connection somewhere. If you really want to replace it though, there's an ebay seller with a really good deal. $20 for the screen and digitizer already glued into a new front body piece: http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-FUZE-LC...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item3ef8817bf6 That one's for the fuze, but I think the seller has other models too. I'd definitely get the LCD and digitizer together or else you might end up like I did on my first attempt: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584050

WOW! What a long way to get to the screen. Good luck for everyone who tries to dismount and mount the Raphael.

Thanks for the advise maxh,
I just wanted to let you know that a miracle just happened! my cellphone started to work just fine without even opening the phone! it has more than a week on this situation so I believe that it's exactly what you stated (the LCD conector became unseated or loose). Since it's still working, I have no need to open it! so I'll just wait until it becomes defective again and at that point just open it and tight up the LCD connector!
Anyway, I would love if somebody could make the mod that I was refereing to before (changing the screen of the fuze by the touch pro one) and see if it's possible to attach the front camera on the fuze.
Once again, thanks everybody for your opinions.
I got my new display+ digitizer on Ebay (65$) and replaced it, using the russian link mentioned above ( follow the exact procedure) , it took me 2 hours to do it, and after lot of patience it worked! My problem was the digitizer never worked fine, and after replaced it it worked like never before. If You are not familiar with repairs, it will be a mistake and waste of money to buy a display without digitizer. NOW, I have a small problem, my display has a NEW color, it's like color temp is WARM for this display, and COLD for my old display, AND COLOR level is lower, and the result is display without vivid colors, black like gray. Is there any way to change the DISPLAY color settings?

cracked my screen....

So year i dropped my phone in the bathroom and cracked the screen and now i can only see a tiny portion of the screen. Considering i also have the newton ring on my phone i think its time for a new lcd and digitizer. Would someone with experience in this area take a look at the following link and let me know if this is all i need for a replacement.
http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-Replacement...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item41473b5370
You didnt say what phone you have!
If you have a Touch Pro then it looks right - i believe the fuze screen is slightly different (no front camera) so if you use this screen on the fuze you may see something through the camera lens.
I replaced mi display , it took me 2 hours to do it, but finally it worked fine. The only issue was the new display has a different color, the digitizer just worked perfect, even better than new, but the color is different, now the colors are less vivid and less brighter, I will try to adjust the display color settings, I will do it tonight.
oh wow good eye didnt even notice that. i guess ill go with this one i just found.

hey GussMiami, do you DIY your screen replacement?
I would like to replace my LCD by myself, but I do not know how to do it,,, tried to youtube it with 'replace touch pro lcd screen' or some thing like that but came up nothing.
tq before,,,
ps: if I have blue spots on my screen, is it some kind of dead pixels?
Xue v.2 there are a couple of guides around on replacing the screen http://www.att-phones.org/att-htc-fuze-user-manual.html
I ordered a new Digitizer and LCD for my Fuze yesterday as mine is somewhat scratched up, the job does not look particularly easy, at the moment I am debating finding someone else to do it for me vs possibly wrecking my phone doing it myself, from what I have read the hardest part is making sure not to break any cables/wires (commonly I see people breaking the speaker wires).
oh thank you naiku,
well, I think I will buy the lcd+digitizer for 30usd from ebay and have htc care to replace it for me,,,
plus I need to fix the keyboard as well. Let the pro doing the fix LoL

[Q] Black Screen after getting "hit/banged" by my youngest...

I've been a member for quite a while, but don't think I've ever posted so please take it easy on me . I bought my husband a MyTouch 4g Slide and liked it, so I bought myself one (both used from Ebay). With my husbands, we had the black screen occasionally. I did some research and with a quick fix of the cover blocking something and switching it around - :victory:**** all set.
Mine (still running original software was running fine. Well, my youngest of 5 kids was apparently playing a game and got frustrated because it kept freezing or something and hit or banged the screen from what he told me -----
Anyway, when he gave me the phone it was this kind of white/reddish fuzzy looking color. I turned it off and tried to reboot. (yes, I've pulled the battery) and aside from the tiny little red light (LED) or the small green one in the same corner OCCASIONALLY coming on and an occasional vibration at that time - NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH....
On the good side, I didn't totally lose it and start screeming at him .... on the bad side, I have a phone I just bought (and like) and can't use it. I know that it might be a just toss and rebuy, but before I do, is there something we can replace (digitalizer/screen/etc)??
You guys up here are amazing and it's the first place I think to come for any of the phones we've had (HTC, MyTouch, SideKick) and I'm so thankful for the site. I figured if I was going to get right to the point and get a straight up answer, without getting scammed, this is the place.... sooooo, anything is better than nothing! Thanks!
Hello. Sounds to me like the LCD screen blew out. They blow out easily from being banged around pretty hard, especially on this particular phone. If the light turns on, then the phone is still alive. If it vibrates as well, then it's definitely still good, as the system is obviously still running. You should try replacing the LCD screen. If you've never done this type of thing, then I'll tell you this... it won't be very easy at all. HTC put so much damn adhesive all over this phone, it's ridiculous. They even glued the LCD to the digitizer, & really tight too.
If you try to do it yourself, or have someone do it for you, be very careful. You can get screens for cheap on ebay, but it may be troublesome to get it done. It's also hard to put them together while preventing dust from getting in there as well. Lint-free micro fiber rags, & maybe a hand air pump, will be very helpful to have around. You can see disassembly videos & tutorials online, like from repairsuniverse.

Thanks so much!! My husband and son "TINKER" with things like this....mostly bigger stuff like cars and all ... LOL... but lately a little bit with our laptops/psp type stuff. However, if I could find someone who does this a lot and it wasn't too expensive, that would probably be easier, especially with all the kids around here . Any idea where I could search for a reputable person (ebay, etc???). Also, when you say LCD, that would be like the ones I've seen on ebay that say LCD with digitalizer....right?? I really appreciate the info. I was hoping it might be something like that, something at least "possible". You rock. I'll let you know how it turns out.
it is a pain! and yeah it does sound like the lcd needs to be changed out, careful now because there are multiple lcds that htc used and they arent compatible, i would suggest opening it up first and then seeing which one to order
HERE IS SOME INSIGHT if you look to the third page or so you can see my experience with this phone. if you have someone who likes to tinker give them the project, as much of a pain as it is... its not too bad still i will suggest having them do a little research first though
good luck!

To have someone do it, I think it'd probably be best to search locally for a repair shop. If you live anywhere near a big city, they probably have some cell phone repair shops around that would be able to do it for you. Even check craigslist.
As for the screen itself, there are 2 parts. There is the LCD screen, or the actual TV screen itself, & there is a sheet of glass placed on top of it. That sheet of glass is called the digitizer. It is what senses your touch. The manufacturers seems to love gluing them together nowadays. Not like the myTouch 3G Slide which was not glued together & was so easy to take apart & deal with. But yeah, the LCD is the actual TV screen. That's what you likely need to change.
