Question: Which Rom/radio should I update my wife's phone to? I say hers because all I want is the most stabe. I could give a care less about improvement, bells and whistles. Since I updated to WM6 build 18125.0.4.2
2.25-ATT radio 1.54.27.00 I have had nothing but problems. Dropped calls all the time, switches back and forth on speakerphone on its own and many other probs. I just want her to have a basic pda phone right now.
Any help is appreciated.
just to elaborate a little more. i can deal with glitches and bugs with my Tilt, but she can't with her treo. She gets frustrated easily. Any suggestions.
Solution
you could just downgrade to a oem version which has been tested by palm rather than a cooked one.

Folks,
I have noticed a problem with the screen sensitivity since upgrading my imate with the qtec 1.11 rom:
The screen sensitivity appears to drop very considerably at times. More often in areas of poor reception. It renders the device virtually unusable at times.
I am minded to think that the new rom allocates more time to keeping the signal strong rather than having the screen retain its sensitivity. The reason for me thinking this is that I never have any problems when I go into flight mode.
Hardware keys do not suffer from any sensitivity problems and I know the unit is fine in that regard - ie, I have started using the up/down hardkey instead of the stylus when the unit is playing up.
Has anybody seen similar & more importantly does anybody know how this could be tweaked?
This is the only problem I have encountered with 1.11! Other than that, everything is great - especially the battery life!
Cheers
Marc
The problem seems to occur irrespective of the signal strength. I am about to downgrade but am wondering which element to downgrade: Radio or System?
Anybody else have this problem or can anybody give some advice.
Is there any way to change the priorities on the JAM so that it commits more time to the screen touches and less to other elements?
I cant be the only person with this problem.... surely!
did you install any software after the upgrade?
do you have the same problem even after a hard reset w/o insstalling any other software?
I don't have any problems with screen sensitivity.
Do you use any different software before and after upgrade?
I have managed to prove that the screen problem I am suffering has nothing to do with the ROM version - I have had the problem occur with 1.03, 1.06, 1.11.
It looks like a hardware problem. Good news in one way but bad news for me.
There are others that have mentioned slow screen response.... my problems started off like this about 2 months ago. Now the unit can go days without getting any response from the touch screen. Hard and Soft resets make no difference at all.
I think we need to get more people to comment on this...... anybody?

My immediate reaction after installing 1.11 rom/radio and then the 27 MB storage rom was that my magician felt sluggish compared to before.
I haven't had too much time to play with it, but yes, it definitely feels slower with 1.11.
@LeSkip: I use QTEK 1.11 ROM and my mini runs faster (compared to the original O2 mini ROM). I don't have any experience with BigStorage ROM so I can't compare.
@marcyspark: I hope you're still under warranty. Downgrade the ROM so you can have it repaired under warranty (Upgrading the ROM can void your warranty).
Cheers for the warning - I already took care of that side - thanks for the thoughts though. Much appreciated.
I now have to deal with the Imate UK service centre which, so far, has not been good:
1. After explaining that I had upgraded to the latest Official Imate ROM I was told to go to the website and install the latest ROM !!!
2. I was told to list all third party applications that are installed!!! There arent any cos the damn thing has had a new ROM installed and I cant get it to do anything!!!
3. The most recent advice was to hard reset and everything would be fine!!! Aaagggh!
4. Finally, I was told that a firmware update will be available to fix my problem which, as I told them previously, occurred with Firmware 1.03 and 1.06.
Bizarrely, the imate has come back to life after a few days without use AND I have noticed that if you press onto the battery from the back you can get it to respond for a while.... but only a while. Could this be a design issue rather than a hardware fault???
I have never pressed hard on the unit (for fear of damaging or marking the beautiful screen) but could it be that the chassis flexes over time?
Any thoughts folks - surely this stuff is for beta testers not paying consumers..... dont start me off on this one.
(I sound like a Lawyer cos I am one)
I have a MDA Compact running 1.0.1 rom, so I just upgraded to 1.11. All went fine, everythings seems to be speedy and nice.
The next thing I did was use my sprite backup to restore teh apps to the MDA. Once I had done this, the screen became very unusable and needed a big press to get anything to happen.
I have just hard reset again, and all is fine. Im now going to try reinstalling everything from scratch and see how it goes.
Its a software thing guys, must be.
I get scared real easy, and I'm now starting to worry about the TyTn. Several people are now reporting problems with these devices, including serious hardware problems.
So please comfort me; your TyTn works just great right?........righ?
Mine is fine so far, no key problems or screen alignments only problem i have is slow access to web sites with tmobile
Cheers
Chris
This is a good idea, but unfortuntely your going to get a pretty skewed result seen how most ppl that have issues are on these boards because they want to resolve them, if your device is working fine its less likely you will be at this juncture to post 'all's well'.
It seems a massive amount of problems seem to be directed to the Vodaphone models and not necessarily the TyTN models. Also other forums arent reporting wide spread problems, and furthermore I just spoke (email) with 2 other Australians who had purchased HTC TyTNs from USA, and they havent had any issues with their devices.
I hope this information is of some comfort to you. If it helps I had the same feeling with the jasjar as it had widespread complaints, although m ainly software ones which I knew could and were addressed.
Trion ... Can't stop singing praises
Really happy with my Trion.
I had started with the original XDA which was the first one of it's kind and kind of cool but that quickly fell out of use due to the phone usability and the need to always use a stylus. I was really happy with the Smartphones as it really was usable using one hand but when the Trion came out I thought it was time to take the plunge back to a PPC, well at least as a office phone. Haven't looked back. Thejog dial button works a charm and with all the extra buttons you can actually use the Trion full time without use of the stylus. WLAN functions perfectly even with Skype. Push email functions like a charm syncing contacts and calander, tasks and email instantly (I recommend mail2web as a cheap way of implementing push email). A2DP actually works and is finally usable especially with the A2DP improvement hack. Now listening to music is crystal clear with no skipping (I'm using the Motorola HT820 which gives start stop pause functionality and with some other hacks you can program the speaker button to trigger programs such as voice command). Tomtom works fine. Definately the 400 Mhz CPU has made the Trion function well with most apps.
The size is slightly smaller than the Wizard but it actually makes a huge difference. Pictures are actually usable with 2MP and a flash light which helps a bit as well.
I finally found the perfect business phone I can use!
TYTN
Mine work fine now for 3 weeks w/o any soft reset.
English version from the Netherlands
Only 2 time (in the night) he was crashed but I think it's because I use pocket wakeup.
Michel
Mine is fine (vodafone v1605) although I cant get vodafone live just a blank screen but the rest of the web is great. No Issues after a hard restet when I first got it, it seems I wasnt the first person with it as I didnt have to set it up and it had 2 minutes on the call timers. But apart from that mine works great.
hey,
i've had my v1605 for a total of 22 hours now. I got mine on a wicked upgrade deal (released from contract for free and got handset for free too)
So far I must say that I haven't found any issues with this baby.

Mine works very well....I never soft reset it, I've had it for 2 days and it works great!!!!!!

My XDA Trion working just perfectly and without any problem at all...thanks god ^^
That's the question to the WM6 upgraders. Please comment if you've made the generic upgrade. Should you have stayed with WM5, waited for the official release, or happy you used a generic ROM? Thanks for your comments!
unlike other HTC products official update to wm6 make me no problems at all now.
no buggy cameras, no short battery life, no slow system issues....
I just upgraded my phone and my wife's to WM6. I use all of the registry tweaks and such with my phone so WM5 was usable for me prior to the upgrade. However my wife does not like all of that extra stuff so she was running WM5 in it's default configuration and she was constantly complaining about hers. I used the generic upgrade on both phones and I found that there was not as much stuff that needed tweaking on mine and she doesn't complain about her phone (in it's default configuration) at all anymore. In both cases the OS seems a lot more efficient and stable, plus the generic release is missing most of the try & buy/at&t bloatware crap that comes with the branded release. Bottom line I say go for it, you'll be pleased.

My device is a Telstra (Australia) branded WM5 Treo. I upgraded a few weeks back to the generic WM6 ROM because Telstra still does not have their WM6 ROM released, whereas other carriers (3 and Voda) have had their ROMs out for months. In the end I couldn't wait.
Anyway, the upgrade went fine and I am much happier with WM6. It is faster in every way, especially when answering a call. Where previously under WM5 there seemed to be a delay of 2-3 seconds between pressing the answer button and actually being connected, it is now instantaneous.
It may only sound small, but the new speakerphone and mute buttons on the active call screen are very handy!
The only weird thing I have noticed is that when you open a Calendar item to view (i.e. not edit) the left soft key used to be "Edit" on WM5 but on WM6 it is "Reply" and it is greyed out as you'd expect because it is not an email message! I can't figure out why Palm made that particular change.
Aside from that, it's all good!
I just bought an HTC fuze from AT&T, my tilt went down and i couldn't wait for the Touch Pro 2 (or what ever HTC phone AT&T will get next) is there anything i can put on it without having to hard SPL my device that will make it boot up faster and run smoother thanks in advance
flash the latest at&t official rom
then look at the tweaks... aka advanced config, diamondtweak
I just received one on Friday from AT&T as a temporary replacement for my BB Bold. I'm disappointed in the Fuze and may send it back for an 8900.
The TouchFlo 3D seemed to make the phone lag, I disabled it (didn't like it much anyway) and it seems faster. The voice quality isn't nearly as good as the Bold. The incoming volume is low and tinny, the outgoing seems to have a lot of background noise and people say it doesn't sound good.
Picked up DiamondTweak to see if that will solve the low volume. It seems to be better but I won't really know until I'm in NYC next week to see if I can hear on the street. Voice quality though still isn't good.
The screen is much better than the Tilt, at least it is readable outside. Haven't tried the GPS yet, from what I've read here it doesn't seem promising. Just loaded Garmin Mobile XT last night and will try it today.
Install a new AudioPara3.csv. I have attached the file. Extract it with either the built in *.zip unarchiver, PocketRAR, or Total commander, and overwrite the audiopara3.csv which is in your windows directory.
Thanks. I was reading about that today. I'll try it and see what happens.
New to the site and have never upgraded the ROM on my Orange E650 (still running original ROM version 1.35.61.1). Just had it sim unlocked by jockyw2001 as I need to port my number over to another provider due to signal issues.
Have read through some of the posts and am interested in flashing it with one of the WM6.5 ones. Could you tell me which one is the most stable? The only applications I use on the phone are the browser and skype although only for IM as the call quality is very poor even when using the wifi connection.
Thanks,
i use wm 6.1 v1.1(from Dr. Martin Gonzo). is the most stable and fast in my opinion. whit default home screen, it take about 2 seconds to rotate image when sliding. so..is the faster for me. i recomand it! the wm6.5 ones take higher to rotate screen with the 6.5 home screen
Thanks I'll give that a try this weekend.
Hi Sfan1, I am using fireburned's WM6.5Clean3.1 since a half year on my Vox allmost without any problems (bluetooth handsfree in my car sometimes make trouble, but not often). I think standby time is normal (I tired other ROM's and it is nearly the same - WLAN need much power, without using WLAN standby time is okay (okay not comparable with Nokia), Titanium homescreen is nice, and in total it is a very good ROM.
