Unable to make/receive calls with HSDPA - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Got my TP 3 weeks ago. I am on Orange. Until this morning, everythig was fine. Very vey happy with my TP. Today, woke up and found "H" on the status bar for the very first time. Befire that it used to be "3G". Though , well getting HSDPA, good. However, with H on, i am unable to make calls or receive any. They go to voicemail. When i call, it just disconnects without dialing tone. Anyone else had similar problems? Any solution? I bought it from expansys, standard UK rom. Is there a way to switch hsdpa off? though it should work even if its on...... is set faulty or radio rom??? worried now. it was excellent uptil now

network's fault. Orange haven't programmed their network to cope with HSDPA properly.
start>settings>connections>advanced network
the settings to turn HSDPA on or off are in there.

Thanks mate. I was really worried that there is something wrong with my phone. But turning off HSDPA resolved the problem. So it was Orange's fault .
I will still be able to connect data session via 3G, isn't it??
Thanks again.

This is not specific to Orange...
I have problems maintaining an internet connection while making a GSM call on the touchpro too...

I used to get this same thing with my Kaiser on a roof in Hackney, if I disconnect the data session, it is OK again.
For some reason it was only there that this problem occurred for me. Other places had 'H' and voice calls working.
Cheers,
Joe

it's a common problem.
I know that Orange and Vodafone at least have this issue.
3 and T-mobile appear to be ok.
Don't know about O2.
Generally, it's the same throughout Europe as the networks tend to use the same hardware and software on all their infrastructure.

Dropped calls? (Forcing GSM = better'ish) WM5 & WM6

Has anyone else had issues with dropped phone calls? The thing is, it only happens at home at my loft in San Franacisco. I have 3 even 4 bars!. I always drop calls left and right all day long. (very annoying) My friends dont seem to have issues with their phone when visiting.
Here's the thing...........
I noticed that if I force the band selection from 3G/HSDPA/UMTS into GSM only mode, my phone calls are slighty more stable but still drop at random even with 3 or 4 bars!
(Wireless Manager, menu, phone settings, Services, Band Selection, Select network type: GSM)
What are my optoins to check for interference? My friends phones dont drop so it's probably not interference. I've yet to take my sim card out to try in a friends GSM phone. (will test soon) Is my Treo possibly defective? It's been this way since I've had it, even on WM5, now on WM6 same thing. Any other suggestions? I'm on AT&T. My calls are pretty good anywhere but my home, so wtf?
Same here, Seattle. Time for a new phone ...
I know it doesn't help...anyway never had this kind of problem with my treo (wm6) and so never had to fix it in gsm

3G issue

I've got a little problem whith 3G & HSDPA.
The problem is it won't connect whith 3G speed, just whith GPRS.
HSDPA is enabled, and I didn't edit any registry settings that would affect the connections, and there is 3G area coverage (checked whith other phone).
Oh, and the icon stays on 'G' all the time, no '3G' or 'H'...
Any ideas?
some operators have special 3g and up usims
and only connect to 3g and up with them could that
be the issue or have you tried the sim on those other phones?
htc have at times been criticised for having worse reception then nokia and other phones but never anything but G seems odd
I'm sure you've tried this already, but try another SIM in the TC, and try your SIM in another phone. Just in case it's a SIM problem. I'm assuming you have a 3G SIM card?
I have an USIM, and 3G was working great whith my previous Hermes...
Update: After a Hard Reset HSDPA came back alive and kicking... after the backup has been restored whithout the registry everything seems to be fine...
I'll start editing again... and post the cause if found

[Q] Data Network confilict

Hi all,
i noticed that my phone (drops/do not) receive calls if i was connected to the internet through the data plan, but it works just fine if i was connected through WiFi, any ideas?
PS: i changed many radios but still the same.
When the calls fail, is the phone is on 2G mode or 3G mode?
i was having a bad reception on 3G so i switched to GSM Only option.

Click to collapse
That could be the problem - as 2G does not allow data and voice/text at the same time, could be that because data is active, calls are being dropped. Try disabling data for a while and see if the problem goes away.
yes that is correct, when the send & receive bars of the data is blinking i cant receive calls, otherwise i can receive calls with no problems.
i will try to switch back to 3G and test how it's gonna work.
thanks for your help.
No problem. I had this problem a lot before on my HTC Legend using the stock ROM. While on 2G mode, people would tell me my phone would keep going to voicemail even though I had full reception, and sometimes I would receive texts really late. It was very annoying as I never had the problem previously on Nokia phoens.
However, since switching to CyanogenMod on the Legend, and also on the Desire S, I haven't noticed the problem as much.
Have the same problem on same carrier,
Sometimes, an SMS notifies me that someone has tried to contact me with no success !!
I thought this was carrier related, but never thought this is 3G/2G radio problem on stock ROM!!
Will give the "GSM Only" option a try and will report back.
Thank you all !!!

[Q] No data transfer on UMTS

Hello all,
Been using this phone for ~6 weeks now.
Familiar with all 3G/H and no network issues - been there, done that...
Yet, I find it odd that while my phone is sometimes steady on UMTS, it has no actual data connection (Ping fails and also other tools), while calls can be carried out!
Also, at times, while network signal is showing as working, I'm actually w/o network connection (phone calls) at all.
And last, in several occurrences a day, while I'm not in a call and probably also not in 2G (I restricted my connection to WCDMA only), I get Network signal yet no data signal in the notification bar (WIFI is off).
I tried re-flashing 1.78 EU RUU (for my unbranded phone) with no change.
I tried rooting and putting Lee's ROM with no change.
I switched microsim from my provider with no change.
Is my only solution is sending it back to HTC for repair? or there is another solution to that frustrating (!!!) situation?
Many thanks for any response!

Prevent 3G data connection

Hi All,
How do I make it so that my phone will not try and connect to the internet via 3G (the signal icon on the status bar has 3G written on it). Whenever my phone switches to 3G, internet doesnt work. this has been a problem for me here in Aus on multiple phones. While the icon says H, internet works awesome but the second it switches to 3G internet stops working until it switches back to H. It wouldnt be too bad, if it wasnt for the fact that the bloody thing switches back and forth every 5 seconds if Im in a good reception area, which is almost all the time.
Are you rooted/custom ROM? It sounds like it could be a poorly performing radio. Search for the radio/ril thread. You might find some answers there. You can switch your phone to 2G or 3G networks only, but the 3G option also includes H. So even if you left out the 2G you'd still suffer the same issues.
