Hi all,
i noticed that my phone (drops/do not) receive calls if i was connected to the internet through the data plan, but it works just fine if i was connected through WiFi, any ideas?
PS: i changed many radios but still the same.
When the calls fail, is the phone is on 2G mode or 3G mode?
i was having a bad reception on 3G so i switched to GSM Only option.

That could be the problem - as 2G does not allow data and voice/text at the same time, could be that because data is active, calls are being dropped. Try disabling data for a while and see if the problem goes away.
yes that is correct, when the send & receive bars of the data is blinking i cant receive calls, otherwise i can receive calls with no problems.
i will try to switch back to 3G and test how it's gonna work.
thanks for your help.
No problem. I had this problem a lot before on my HTC Legend using the stock ROM. While on 2G mode, people would tell me my phone would keep going to voicemail even though I had full reception, and sometimes I would receive texts really late. It was very annoying as I never had the problem previously on Nokia phoens.
However, since switching to CyanogenMod on the Legend, and also on the Desire S, I haven't noticed the problem as much.
Have the same problem on same carrier,
Sometimes, an SMS notifies me that someone has tried to contact me with no success !!
I thought this was carrier related, but never thought this is 3G/2G radio problem on stock ROM!!
Will give the "GSM Only" option a try and will report back.
Thank you all !!!

Got my TP 3 weeks ago. I am on Orange. Until this morning, everythig was fine. Very vey happy with my TP. Today, woke up and found "H" on the status bar for the very first time. Befire that it used to be "3G". Though , well getting HSDPA, good. However, with H on, i am unable to make calls or receive any. They go to voicemail. When i call, it just disconnects without dialing tone. Anyone else had similar problems? Any solution? I bought it from expansys, standard UK rom. Is there a way to switch hsdpa off? though it should work even if its on...... is set faulty or radio rom??? worried now. it was excellent uptil now
network's fault. Orange haven't programmed their network to cope with HSDPA properly.
start>settings>connections>advanced network
the settings to turn HSDPA on or off are in there.
Thanks mate. I was really worried that there is something wrong with my phone. But turning off HSDPA resolved the problem. So it was Orange's fault .
I will still be able to connect data session via 3G, isn't it??
Thanks again.
This is not specific to Orange...
I have problems maintaining an internet connection while making a GSM call on the touchpro too...
I used to get this same thing with my Kaiser on a roof in Hackney, if I disconnect the data session, it is OK again.
For some reason it was only there that this problem occurred for me. Other places had 'H' and voice calls working.
Cheers,
Joe
it's a common problem.
I know that Orange and Vodafone at least have this issue.
3 and T-mobile appear to be ok.
Don't know about O2.
Generally, it's the same throughout Europe as the networks tend to use the same hardware and software on all their infrastructure.
Hi everyone, I'm running Android 2.3.4 (OpenSoju Rom) on my Nexus S,
but the issue i'm going to describe has happened to me on other Roms and
even on my old Nexus One.
When the phone is idle, 3G data works great (also when using apps that
require an internet connection), but when I receive a call,
after a minute or two, the 3G icon disappears from the notification
bar and the phone data connectivity is lost - no connection to the internet.
I've asked around and someone told me it is because the phone switches to
2G network during the call and when in the phone is in 2G mode, during a call
there is no data (on a 2G network).
I know that in the past this behavior did not occur, and in my country
when in 3G during a call - data is enabled!
So does anyone know how to fix/change the setting that causes this behavior?
'cause, for me, sometimes I really need the data connection during a call,
for example, when navigating using Waze (which needs data connectivity),
and receiving a call it causes Waze to stop working and I lose my GPS direction.
Thanks.
Use to work for me too. Then i noticed when AT&T started saying the had talk and web at same time, mysteriously it started doing what is happening to you. And i have Sprint, unless you switch to at&t you might be waiting for awhile.

I have had a crazy time both with wifi calling remaining connected (suffered sudden drops), and further SMS over wifi seemed spotty at best.
Part of this was caused by either a bad SIM card, or deletions of stock apps and/or services...which now have been fixed.
At the moment everything is working fine. Don't know if this will affect anyone, but I thought I would just add to the library of knowledge.
First, once I got wifi-calling working (meaning the status bar icon was no longer red), I started to read the log files and realized that every time the wifi was reset, wifi calling would not consistently restart.
What I have realized is that wifi-calling and SMS are dependent on TMOs mobile network via wifi. However, any internet connection is simply that...and any apps you have like FB or Google Voice will work with that wifi internet connection. Conversely, the TMO wifi-calling service/app either connects on a different layer (such as the IP layer) or uses some unusual node-based connection to traverse the 802.11 frequency, over your ISP's and other networks to arrive at the TMO servers which then are linked into the mobile network. You can see this by downloading an app that triangulates and provides tower locations nearby or gives you other mobile network data (i.e., CID, etc)... That data is either not decipherable by the app trying to get this data, or one gets unusual info when compared to non-wifi calling. Bottom line is that there are two separate signals being carried by the wifi: "data" and "mobile wifi calling" and they are completely different.
Another example of proof: if you are having difficulty with SMS using your wifi internet connection, try sending the SMS via Google Voice. If you have an internet connection, it will go through immediately. But regular SMS has problems if wifi-calling is not working correctly.
And one of the biggest culprits of this is wifi fixer or other similar wifi connection apps. Although it's only a guess, the "scan" these apps do are likely a simple ping to determine status of the DATA connection.
I shut off wifi fixer (but left it as a widget to use as needed), and I have perfect wifi calling and SMS.
Whatever criteria wifi fixer apps use when deciding to reset or reassociate the wifi connection is not reflective of the integrity of your connection using wifi calling. In fact wifi calling may partially interfere with your data connection which will typically trigger a reset by wifi fixer.
From now on, if I am planning on simply surfing the web and my wifi signal is less than optimum, I will turn on wifi fixer. Otherwise it just tears down wifi calling connection.
Hope this is of use.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have an issue where over time Wifi calling disconnects even though wifi is still working. I have to re-toggle wifi to get Wifi calling back. It's very annoying.

Although there have been occasional exceptions, it's unusual for a wifi call on my H1s to last longer than about a minute before dropping off/disconnecting. When this happens, the call time counter changes back to say "Dialing." Of course, there is no dialing, just dead silence. There are no other signs of a problem, no error messages, no indicator icons, etc. On the same wifi network I can make long uninterrupted calls with our older MyTouch 4G - no issues at all with wifi calling.
I'm running unrooted, locked, stock ROM (for now). I don't think I've removed any apps and I think the only wifi-related app I've used is Wifi Analyzer. Could you offer suggests on how to debug this? The firmware update didn't give any improvements. Should I ask Tmo to provide a new SIM card?
Thanks -

Well the first thing I would suggest is a factory reset. This being the most simple option given your phone is not rooted and on stock. The strange part of this is the "Dialing" instead of the normal keypad (which typically reverts when a call is disconnected).
As far as a SIM card, do you ever get any SIM card errors? Like "ER05" or "REV99"?
These are typically the errors of faulty cards or a bad wifi signal. Check out an app called Network Signal Info....it will tell you the strength of the wifi signal compared to the mobile network (although its not always reliable).
Let me know what a factory reset does. All of your apps will be restored by google (and their are apps to modify this restore as well).

Didn't reset yet, want to test a little more.
I've never gotten a SIM card error. The unexpected "Dialing" with the End Call button still showing is the only indication something is off.
Tonight I ran a few tests calling between our 2 Android phones in the same room, same wifi. 3 calls 1S to MT4G: 2 were perfect and lasted several minutes, while the middle call disconnected after less than a minute. 3 calls MT4G to 1S: all 3 went directly to voicemail, the 1S didn't even ring. Now I recall that's been a complaint before - that calls to me go straight to voicemail when I've been on wifi calling.

Are you sure wifi-calling is on? Do you have the blue icon in the status bar?
Sometimes this isn't on, even though wifi is on and you are making a call.. Not sure if that is intentional or not.
Just in case... The switch is in settings> more (under wireless and network buttons)

Yep, it's on.
Just to be clear, the H1S has received calls when wifi calling is on, it's just sometimes that they go directly to vm. For example, as I'm typing the phone just received a wifi call and is handling it fine, hasn't dropped after 3 minutes.
NO CONSISTENCY, BUT USUALLY DOESN'T WORK.
A factory reset did not fix the problem.
Hi people!!
Since i own this mobile, i've used several official and custom ROMS and i detect that when i'm using 3g phone calls do not work properly. I have to reboot the phone to be able to call (or receive a call) properly but after the first call i detect this issue: when i call i do not hear anything, the same if i receive a call...
Anybody knows how to deal with this issue?
Thanks in advance!
do not create posts for small issues, we already have FAQ topic for roms/mods/known issues etc., this question will suit there. keep our board clean.

btw what do u mean by 3g phone calls? u mean VOIP calls or native video calls?

No offence brother but its for the ROMs / MODs related issues only. Moreover if stop people from making threads then we'll never get a Q & A section like others have & our general section will be always messed up. That is because the criteria for getting the section is to have at least 1000 threads or 10000 posts in the General section, so it would be in our interests to allow people post and make threads. We'll get a cleaner General section in return.
I think he's taking about calls made using the network.

Are you talking about normal voice calls on 3G ? Or video calls on 3G ?
I have made & received voice calls via the network while on 3G without any problems. Check if its a network related problem by using different network providers SIM card.
Your problem could also be caused due to plugging & unplugging of the headset from our handset. To solve it you'll have to plug & unplug the headset a couple of times and then check if its solved. Search for a thread within the general section here itself related to the headset problem to get more details.
Hope this helps.
I mean normal phone calls with 3g activated. It's the situation when i'm not able to make or receive phone calls or receive them properly: if i switch off data connection then phone calls work again properly, if i change data connection to H+ phone calls work properly, or when i have wifi on phone calls work ok. It's only when i have 3G activated that phone calls do not work properly...
Hope it's understood!!!

This is a pretty peculiar issue buddy, I suggest you to temporarily switch the SIM being used in the handset to confirm whether or not it's network related issue.
BTW how do to switch between H+ and 3G data networks?
Here in India it switches automatically depending on the coverage available.
Do update us on the progress.
^^
i think its 3g whn its just connected in 3g mode and becomes H whn we start downloading or some data transfr work initiates....
I rarely see H+ in my cell
I think these symbol denotes speed of the network data and thrs no way to switch between 3G or H+

hello,
I am from India and using Vodafone network. I am facing a very weird problem with my OPO. I am able to receive and use LTE ie I can use internet and send and receive messages.
But the problem starts when I try to make a call. As i dial a no. the phone switches to 3g and I receive a error saying NO NETWORK CONNECTION in about 5-7 seconds. To confirm this problem, I tried to switch to 3g only and 2g only in the network settings. Whenever I select 2g or 3g, my connection is lost and I cant even register to a network
I have tried many other sims including reliance, idea and another vodafone sim with the same result. I have flashed the stock COS file using fastboot to make my phone completely stock including clearing data, internal storage and system. I have tried a lot of roms which never used to give me such a error but the problem persists in all the roms
Please guys help me out
Thank you in advance

I managed to solve the same problem not a long time ago. At the end of this post there are several values you can write in nvram. Try experimenting with the ones.
If it did the trick just don't forget to make a backup of EFS partition
same problem, let me know if you resolve
I think you might need to unlock all bands. Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-unlock-aditional-bands-qualcomm-t2877031
Notes:*Those modifications need to be redone after radio*flashes.*
I will certainly try that..
But is it possible that the bands I need were unlocked earlier and now they are not, beacause 10 days earlier my 2g and 3g networking on this phone were working perfectly...
On that day I messed up a lot of settings in *#*#4646*#*# menu, could this be the possible reason that some of the bands are now locked???And I also want to tell you that all the options like WCDMA only GSM only etc which were earlier available in the menu are still available
Thanks your replies
