Internet Connection Sharing over WiFi - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I desperately need to get ICS over WiFi working. I've tried WMWiFiRouter, but it either keeps giving me 'Fatal Error' or the connection drops off the moment the PC connects to it. I've also tried ICSControl.exe, a program that someone on XDA has created, but I just couldn't figure out how to get things going with that (or I'm too dumb).
Could someone please tell me the easiest way to get my data connection working on my laptop over Wifi? I'm using Raphael with the stock rom.
Cheers

its built in i think in the commanager last option. but it is set to bluetooth pan standard if i am correct.
you can try use advanced config 3.1 and goto data connections.. change private interface for internet sharing to wlan.

i was surprised to see Advanced Config had the option there. But it still doesn't work
I changed the private interface from the default of 'Custom' to WLAN11g1 and it asks me to soft-reset the device, which i did. Then I go into Internet Sharing, and I still only get 'USB' or 'Bluetooth PAN' as options. Am i missing something?

there is another wlan option in there.
i have no idea how this is supposed to work :/
one would think that setting this option would set the setting to wlan as supposed to. not sure if you should change it or not afterwards with the connectionsharingsettingstab. it probably overwrites the value in registry.
here is something you can try :
turn on wifi
set the option in adv config to TnetWln1
reset
turn on this wifi AP application and try using it

WMwifiRouter
Just tried WMwifiRouter on my Touch Pro and it worked fine

Works fine for me too. Takes all the hassle out of it!

2 questions:
1) Which network are you with? If your connection works but stops when you get ICS to try to connect, it may be blocked by your network if a) you are not allowed to use your mobile as a modem and/or b) ICS is not allowed. Does your connection work with standard email/web?
2) Why sharing your connection over wifi when BT pan works so well and so easily and you only need to share with your laptop? I use wifi when the laptop can connect directly to a router/hotspot, otherwise I use BT Pan. There is no real speed compromise as the bottleneck is the 3G connection itself), and BT 2.0 EDR offers a wide enough bandwidth for what you want to do. I use skype on my laptop with my 3G connection shared over BT PAN and it works a treat (that is, better than Skype 2.2 on WM!).
I'm probably missing something....

ICS has nothing to do with your carrier. It works the same way on your phone as it does on the pc. it merely routes the gateway to the devices connected to the ICS network.
I myself have a TP and use ICS with Softbank (softbank roms do not contain ICS) and it works fine.
I agree with you however, when it comes to bluetooth. Even if your PC doesnt have BT, it is well worth it to buy one of those nifty mini adapters.
they are so tiny, you wont even see them. But easy to setup and fast enough.

im with 3. nomal mail / web works fine. there are no restrictions by the network for ics. as for the BT question, I dont have BT on my laptop. it has built in wifi and i want to use that. i also have a mac n have never managed 2 get BT PAN working with os x.

Can't get BT pan to work with Vista either. My laptop does not "find" the HTC Touch pro as a pan enabled phone.

latest version works ok
Mod Edit: Attachment removed by request from the author.

the latest version is 1.10 not 0.94. have tried it with not much luck

Version 0.91 is the last "free" version of the program. It is no longer free and it's version number has changed as well, version 1.11 is the latest.

First make sure you have no active BT connection, either on your desktop/laptop or on the TP (i.e. BT Headset).
You need to go to Comm Manager (BT switched on of course!), select BT Options (lower right menu), Mode, and select "make this device visible to other devices".
Once you've setup a partnership, it will probably say "connection denied" on the first connection.
Don't be as dumb as me, got to internet sharing (all programs) and select BT Pan and Connect... Then try to connect BT Pan again...
It *should* work (works a treat on my Vista 32 desktop and my Sony TZ11 Laptop, I get around 400-500kbps down and a bit less up).

BT PAN
I followed your directions exactly, but the problem remains. I get however once the phone pairs with the laptop (HP tx2000) a request for the "Bluetooth peripheral device" driver. I can't find this driver so it has probably something to do with this.

Maybe you should try IcsControl.
It's free and works great.

Id go wmwifirouter route. I have never had good luck with icscontrol never could get it to work and it pissed me off instead

You need to update the bluetooth driver for your laptop. Check the manufacturer (in, the device manager), usually widcomm or toshiba, and try to get it from their website if HP doesn't provide it (although they should). Vista drivers usually work, but I guess you're using XP? It may be worth checking on HP website to see if their offer updated BT drivers for your laptop.

I've tried both versions of the program (free old V0.91 and trial for the commercial V1.11).
They both work with the Touch Pro (tried with my Vaio TZ11).
V1.11 is however around 20% faster (I get an average of 500kbps with V0.91, and consistently above 600kbps down with the V1.11).
So the old version gives about the same bandwidth as my BT Pan (without the convenience of sharing between more than one client), while the V1.11 seems to be better optimised and provides better bandwidth.
The response time is around 100ms for both (against around 140ms for BT Pan). Upstream is around 300kbps for both version , against 400kbps for BT Pan.
This is on a UK T-Mobile HSDPA connection, with 3/4 bars signal strength (could those who manage to get it to work let us know if they get better figures?).
You should obviously get much better with Vodafone in a 7.2Mbps area like London/Major airports.

T-Mobile Dash Bluetooth Modem Mac

When I try to connect my Dash to my Mac it connects fine but there is something missing. In order to use my Dash as a modem for my Mac I need to pair them and so on. In the bluetooth set up, after I pair the two, I get to select which services I want my computer to use on my phone. The only service that shows on my computer is "address book" There should also be an option to "Access the Internet with your phone’s data connection" but it's not there. This is why I can't use my phone as a bluetooth modem. Why is this not showing up in the bluetooth set up? Is my phone not telling my Mac that it can be used as a bluetooth modem? My internet sharing settings and so on are activated and correct on my phone. Is it just my compter?

The Dash has AKU3, which means it lacks BT DUN and only has BT PAN. This is why you don't see DUN, unlike with pre-AKU3 devices.
I'll publish a big article on all these questions in a few hours, where I explain all these questions in detail. Stay tuned!

Is there a way to get a Tmobile dash paired with a G4 Mac Powerbook?
I want to access the internet on my powerbook via my Dash.
I see in your reply above you were going to write an article on this. I've not found out how to get this to work.
thanks for any help
John
I see the problem... basically Mac OS X doesn't support Bluetooth Personal Area Networks (PANs). Bluetooth Modems normally use DUN (which is what HTC devices used prior to AKU2... and was hacked to route into WModem).
With AKU3, MS standardized this. They went with PAN instead of DUN because PAN allows for IPNAT... enabling the device and the laptop to be online at the same time.
But, of course, Macs don't even see the PAN profile... meaning we're SOL right now.
P.S... testing this on my Blue Angel with AKU 3.5... same problem here.

Let's all hope the Widcomm BT hack will some day also have DUN support, even under AKU3+. See the Hermes / Wizard forums for more info on the hack.

I know OSX doesn't support PAN, but check this site out --> http://mobilitytoday.com/news/007194/blackjack_mac_connection
It's a write up on how to get the Samsung BlackJack working with OSX, BlackJack I believe also use PAN.
I tried it, but wasn't able to get it to work. I have to leave the office right now, so maybe someone else might have better luck than I do.

It seems working with a P3600 using the new network sharing feature with the USB Cable! The mac sees a ethernet port (with ip already asigned by p3600)under systempreferences>network.
I donnu if its because i have missing sync (demo) installed that that connection just comes up...

tmobile dash bluetooth modem problem
Ok this is wat i have to say i have a macbook and when i go to bluetooth setting it says in can use the kind of network interface that ur powerbook doesnt support and the reason ur powerbook doesnt support it is either u need to upgrade ur airport card or mabye upgrade to leopard like i did or do both because im running my macbook with the 802.11n wireless and bluetooth card and with 10.5 so that might be a solution to ur problem and i also know that u should upgrade to a macbook or a macbook pro if u want excelent peformance or heavily upgrade ur powerbook g4 and anyway wat are the specs on ur powerbook??
(macbook white 2.0 ghz 80gb hd and 2 gigs of ram)
sorry i put in powerbook for some reason i meant to say wat mac do u have
It seems to me that OS X (Leopard at least) wants to use the Network Access Point Bluetooth profile with Bluetooth PAN. I got it working with WM6.1 but I had to change Bluetooth PAN from PANU to NAT.

Modem/dial-up not working using ATT Fuze and Energy 2.0 ROM

first off - i tried searching but could not find any solid info, from start to finish, how to make tethering work
i've never had to tether till now.. tried enabling Internet Sharing and connecting it both via USB and Bluetooth - no success.. i'm using Media Net $15 a month data plan, if that makes a difference (wap Vs gprs in user name but i did try both)...
is anyone using their phone as a modem? what settings do you have? please point the noob in the direction of a step-by-step guide if one is available (i did try to search but nothing than enabling Network connection via registry edit - not relevant)..
thanks a bunch to anyone who could help!
I'm online using the "internet sharing" connection now (in Florida cleaning up after a flood) (Yes, I need to get back to work . . . .).
I also have a Fuze and am using EnergyROM 2.0. Haven't changed any settings since installing the new ROM. Works like a charm for me.
Make sure the proxy box under the MediaNet settings is NOT checked.

Open up taskmanager and make sure that activesync is not running on the phone. this will not allow internet sharing to work. what does the phone say when you open internet sharing and click connect?
download a registry editor (i use total commander, and it works just fine).
open it up, go to \plugins\registry\HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings\ForceCellConnection and simply delete the contents of the value so that it's empty. Go ahead and do a soft reset and open up the internet sharing app. From there, select the Media Net connection and hit connect. Voila, good to go!
Enjoy!
ps I've gotten 2+ Mbps speeds via tethering

I keep activesync enabled so that i'm able to receive corporate email when on the road.
I was able to tether via USB (was doing nothing different from last night when i was unable to internet share via USB, however I noticed when shutting down that BT stack crashed); internet sharing app came up automatically once I selected internet sharing right after hooking up the cable to my laptop, and MediaNet was there by default (I guess it's all cooked into the ROM; did not have to delete any registry keys; kudos to NRGZ)... was able to get close to 1Mb/s download speed (upload is really slow however, less than 50Kb/s) - not too bad overall
Still have problem connecting via Bluetooth
maybe i'm having problem pairing laptop and Fuze? is there a pre-defined code/pass key that i'm supposed to use for the Fuze?
i was just using my security/lock code.. when laptop starts dialing (is dial up number *99# correct?), i get the following error box:
------------------------------------------------
Error Connecting to BluetoothConnection
Dialing *99#...
Error 678: The remote computer did not respond. For further assistance, click More Info or search Help and Support Center for this error number.
-------------------------------------------------
Anybody had this issue? or can share their connection settings for Bluetooth?
thanks everyone who responded!

now, i just tried leaving User Name and Password fields blank on the Bluetooth connection wizard, and using dial-up number *99***1#, like they suggest here: Answer Center - Create a Windows XP Dial-Up Networking Connection for a Bluetooth Device , and got a new error:

Error 777: The connection attempt failed because the modem (or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order.

this is just getting funnier but kind of frustrating...

smitty, do you tether via bluetooth or usb? i have no problem with usb now but still get the same "error 678: the remote computer did not respond..." i wonder if my BT driver is corrupt or i'm blacklisted by at&t
if anyone is able to connect using bluetooth and Internet Sharing app on Energy or any other similar ROM, can you share your dial-up settings with me?
after i start Internet Sharing app, with PC Connection = Bluetooth PAN and Network Connection = MEdia Net, and then right click my Bluetooth Modem in Dial-up Network Places on my laptop, the icon shows "connecting" for about 5 seconds (and the data icon H on the phone starts rotating) and then the error comes up on computer screen.. i can't believe no one else has had the same issue, i must be something with my laptop

I haven't been able to get my HP laptop to pair via bluetooth with my Fuze yet so I was doing USB. With regards to your issue, do you ahve one or two pull down menus in INternet Sharing app? If you have 1, then your registry needs to be hacked. AT&T used a registry key to force Internet Sharing app to only use the isp.cingluar access point (instead of wap.cingluar). If you pay the extra bucks for the full unlimited with tehtering then your account is setup to use isp.cingluar as well as wap.cingluar. If you just have the normal unlimited w/o tehtering option (which is not unlimited it caps at 5GB/month) then you only can use wap.cingluar. THis is how AT&T is going more easily find people using the cheaper plan with thethering and of course charge them up the butt for violation of the TOS (that they keep changing). Removing the registry key, fixes the issue.

sounds like we are in the same boat here - i can tether my HP laptop with Fuze via USB no problem now using Internet Sharing app, but no luck with Bluetooth whatsoever... i don't think there is an issue with the registry ever since i switched to Energy 2.0 ROM which must have the settings customized (so yes, I do have 2 pull down menus, and I have Media Net selected in the second one). So, I tried to use both wap.cingular and isp.cingular APN's (both [email protected] and [email protected] for User Name, CINGULAR1 for password; then I tried leaving User Name and Password fields blank...) with no success... nothing works, damn it!!!
looks like it gets paired up briefly, then starts dialing and gets the error in a couple of seconds.. the problem must be with the bluetooth dial-up settings for AT&T, because: 1) i have no problem tethering via USB; 2) Fuze is being paired up with my laptop and trying to use HSPDA data connection (as indicated by rotating H on the phone for a few seconds while my laptop tries to dial up).
by the way, have you tried dialing *99# or *99***1# (i tried both numbers as well as *99***3# for Samsung phones) from your Fuze, did you get any modem dial tone??
thanks!
I was able to connect to internet through bluetooth by using the following settings.
After pairing the bluetooth on both Fuze and laptop:
On my Fuze: open 'Internet Sharing' then select Bluetooth PAN and choose the appropriate network connection (in my case TZones) then tap 'Connect'
On the laptop: open bluetooth neighborhood then 'discover service' or 'explore' on the Fuze device. You should see 'Network Access Point on [Fuze]' and then double click on it.
Done.

I've been using ICS with no problems with a ThinkPad T43 for a few weeks at work to circumvent the proxies and reach out to my home machine via RDP. The RDP app for the Fuze just doesn't cut it with its whopping 640x480 screen. Turns out that AT&T in NY/NJ is somehow monitoring the connections. I was watching a bunch of videos to pass some downtime, and I guess I triggered some kind of alert on their end. ICS will connect to MediaNET with no problems (settings read wap.cingular), ICS status shows connected (I am connecting over USB) and my ThinkPad network connection shows a private IP address handed to it by the phone (192.168.0.x range). However when I am trying to connect to something, I'll get timeout errors. Running a simple ping comes back with no DNS capabilities as I can't even ping google.com... Has this happened to anyone on the forum? Can anyone offer some advice? I am thinking of just calling AT&T and playing dumb, saying that I was watching videos, as well as moving lots of music from my home computer via FTP ... Any advice appreciated. I pay for the $40/month PDA plan... I don't see the point of paying for tethering when you're already paying for data. Yes, before people start flaming me, I was stupid by using the connection to watch a bunch of videos, but you're able to watch youtube on your phone anyway....
--UPDATED 7-31-09 3:03PM --
So I downloaded ICS Control v0.21, which by the way is an awesome program. I went through the config, was able to connect my laptop to my HTC Fuze via WiFi. That was easy. As palringo (win xp version) was connecting in the background, I was able to do a test google search and get back results. Ran a continuous ping on google (ping google.com -t). Turns out that after about 25 ping replies or so, just about the time it took me to do a few web searches, the requests start timing out. Directing the ping at another website shows that the ping request couldn't find the host... basically the same problem I had tethering over USB. It's as if the AT&T network is determining that the request is coming from a PC and not the PDA and not passing the DNS requests... Either way, I tried to ping google via 74.125.45.100 and got back a request timed out. I am now wondering whether or not this may have to do with the packet MTU and whether or not the PDA packets differ from regular PC/WinXP packets. I just don't know enough about networking to be able to know. I am able to ping the Fuze gateway (for all-intensive purposes set to 192.168.2.1) and get back replies within 2-4ms. I really would love to hear from someone to whom this has happened before. I haven't called AT&T yet as the data connection on the phone itself works just fine, and I am able to load pages on the phone just fine. It's just any form of ICS that's beat...
Come on XDA-Dev, I know the collective intelligence can come up with something here.
I didn't think ATT could detect the difference between tethered requests and ones that originate on the phone, that would be bad though, if that were the case. Since the previous poster was watching videos, it seems to me the bandwidth would be the comparable to watching videos with the YouTube app on the Fuze, which I'm sure is within the terms of service contract.
My experience is closer to vovan75's. ICS works fine via USB, but does not work via Bluetooth. The strange thing is with the BT connection, I can ping the gateway, and even do nslookup with the default DNS, and sometimes if I get lucky, the connection works for a few seconds, allowing a page to load, totally random.
I thought everything worked using the original ATT rom, so I have a feeling culprit is something in the NRG rom, or maybe a radio incompatibility. I might re-flash to the old official rom just to try this, before the next time I update to the latest NRG build.
My setup:
Fuze with EnergyROM (July 22 build)
Radio: 1.14.25.35 (from official HTC 6.1 update)
Notebook with Windows 7 RTM
Windows calls this "Bluetooth Network Connection" (I don't see a reference to DUN, at least not in Win7)
ICS using BT (not working):
IPv4: 169.254.46.56
Gateway: 169.254.247.172
ICS using USB (working):
IPv4: 192.168.0.102
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Windows 7 calls this "Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device"
DSLReport speed test (Flash) - down: 696Kbs, up: 336Kbs (varies quite a bit, much better at night of course)
Okay, figured it out. The DHCP setting for the bluetooth PAN should be off (I know, counter-intuitive). I found this by diff'ing the entire HKLM-Comm registry branch of the last EnergyROM build (Sept 6) vs the official ATT 6.1 rom (5.11.502.2WWE), which did work after all.
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BTPAN1\Parms\TcpIp]
"EnableDHCP"=dword:00000000
BTW, you don't need to setup Dial-Up Networking when using the Internet Sharing application (IntShrUI.exe). DUN needs to be configured on the PC when using the phone's modem bluetooth service, and AFAIK, needs to be provisioned by AT&T before it will work. The Internet Sharing app acts like an uplink for paired devices in the bluetooth personal area network (PAN).
rasterX, you rock! That little illogical registry fix is all I needed... I'd been banging my head against this Bluetooth DUN thing for days.
Thanks!

Apple Mac and HD2

I can't seem to able to connect the HD2 to my MacBook Pro, other than as a external HD drive. Which is fine for exchanging files, an dI don't need Activesync or the Vista version. But I do want to use it as a modem. Either via Bluetooth, a cable or as Wif Router. And though I am usually quite handy with these kind of things, I can't get any of them to work. So hopefully someone has made it to work, and can let me know the tricks?
Same problem here, but I'm able to connect to my SD card. What I do is to put all the update file in to SD card and run it.
Hello,
You should find in the programs on your HD2 one called Wifi Router.
Running it, you will be able to choose a name for your network and choose the key (WEP only)
Than from your Mac by clicking on the Airport icon, you should see your newly created network under "Devices". Just connect to it with the WEP key you determined and there you go !
WifI router is a great application. Working fine on a MS machine (XP, Vista). But it;s not stable with my Macbook/Apple. It's hard to get an connection (even find it), and only connects for a short time. I have not been able to get one biy in to webbrowser or mail. It just disconnects and says no internet connection...
Sorry to hear that =(
Using it on 2 Macbooks without any issues (stable and fast connection)
Works fine for me sorry! Submit it to HTC see what they say...
Same problem here between my new HD2 and macbook pro... Unable to connect to internet using Bluetooth/USB connection. WiFi router connect but internet connection don't work. Any solution?
PS : sharing files via USB or bluetooth is possible.
Looks like it is something of the new generation Macbook. Before I bought the apple, i was able to test it in an apple shop. It worked (Wifi Router)! As I said: no USB connection, no BT connection and not via WiFi Router. However it does work as an external Harddisk. It should be the settings in the Macbook to make Wi-Fi Router work! It connects (now and again, but not stable) But no internet according to Safari (for you guys/girls whom still own a dinosaur: that's the browser..). Settings of Macbook Pro???
I'm currently trying to find a way.
There is a software called "USBModem" from Mobile Stream that allow Windows Mobile USB and bluetooth connexion for Mac users.
I'm working actually with support team (very reactive!) for HD2 to be compatible with this software.
Hope they will be abble to make something great
Unfortunately, Mobile Stream Team can't make anything for HD2<=>Mac USB connexion
If somebody has a solution...
I started the thread, may be I can end it. Strangely enough, outside of my home Wifi area, I can get the connection between HD2's Wifi router and my Macbook. At home, somehow my HD2 tries to contact at the same the home network, and therefore does not get a stable connection with my Apple. So it's great: outside it works, inside I have a network and no need for tethering...

HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing - doesn't work?

Hi,
Now that I've unlocked my TG01, I was hoping to use my data SIM in it and convert it to a MiFi, one of those portable WiFi access points.
I have tried HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing which installs fine on the phone. It also seems to run and looks like it has set up an ad-hoc network.
However, there are a few problems:
The WiFi does not automatically turn on when you launch the program.
None of my WiFi enabled devices (PCs, phones, internet tablets) can 'see' the WiFi access point.
I'm just wondering whether this is because the program isn't really working, or has something to do with my other devices.
Anyone have success with this program?

on my TG01 work fine! i have in all my cooked ROM´s this suite
AL_CommManager_Suite_with_WifiSharing_1_1.cab
you can test my ROM or install this cab. to work on TG01 you need this Reg change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN]
"DeviceName"="{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\\AR6K_SD1"

Miro im using your ROM release but for the life of me cant get the wifi sharing to work, well it works and it doesnt. I can see the connection on my laptop and i've managed to connect only the internet doesnt work and it says 'identifying ... no internet access' ? This is under Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Any ideas ?
i´m now in this moment take wifi router from my TG01 to connect the internet with my Win7 32bit Laptop. i think the problem is not TG01- the Problem is you network/firewall settings
best internet sharing you have in marketplace for free, work veary good. sorry for my bad eanglish
I've only just got the htc wifi sharing app to work properly, but if you ask me its not so great. The reason why i struggled so much to get it to work in the past is that you have to keep resetting your data conection until suddenly it works ? Even then i find it goes off every 10 mins so your constantly turning your data connection on and off which isnt very convenient. I suppose its nice to be able to set up wifi as a hotspot but for me i just cant use it ...
Instead i've started using the usb method with the windows internet sharing app, this never resets and is a proper solid and stable connection. I've even bridged it to the ps3 and managed to play online games with it. The only issue of course is the NAT type, for any sort of gaming to work you need port forwarding at the very least and since were only getting nat type 3 theres quite a few issues.
I have found a nice app called ICS Control which claims to be able to manage ports, etc but i havent quite figured out how it works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377047 Any ideas ?

i already used that reg tweak on the comm manager from your ROM thanks anyway. the phone switch, bluetooth, or WiFi switch do nothing.g when i press them. so idecided to install another comm mnager (htc) it works but i cannot use the WiFi router function :/
Thanks anyway!
Not sure why the wifi comm manager isnt working for you but id recommend trying miro's rom, the one which allows you to switch between sense, spb, and windows default. This is the only rom i've managed to get wifi sharing working on so id really recommend you try miro's rom .
On another subject, i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to share my tg01's internet connection to the pc but give it a static ip address. The problem with sharing without a static ip is certain sites recognise your ip has changed and log you out. Lets say i've wrote a huge message on and my ip changes, i click submit and that message is lost for good ! Its getting quite annoying since this constantly happens on ebay and pretty much any site that requires a log in, i've had to start copying and pasting my text just in case.

[Q] Sharing my Laptop wifi with Gtab

For some reason, I'm having the hardest time being able to share the WiFi connection my laptop gets with my Gtab.
On my college campus, wifi signal strength is horrible. For my laptop, I have an external 2000mw with a 7db high gain antennae attached. Currently, I use the software Connectify to turn my laptop connection into a hotspot, then connect to the hotspot via my Gtab.
Now, when it works it works great. But it seems like everytime I re-connect my tab, itll show it connected (full bars) but I get no internet. The only work around Ive found this is to forget the connection, and re-do my setup through Connectify (half the time seems like even this doesn't work).
The problem could very well be Connectify which is why I'm posting this.
Anyone know how to either configure a network connection in Win7 x64 Ultimate to be a hotspot? Or know of software/app that does it (besides Connectify and Virtual Router..something like that) to where I just set it up once, and have no further issues after?
Again, I dont know if this is my ROM or Connectify (leaning towards Connectify since Ive had this issue with every ROM I've tried thus far.
I apologize if there is already info. on this in the forum, but I couldnt find it.
Thanks for any direction you can point me here!

Connectify is the answer
As far as I know, Connectify is the only sw that can give you an infrastructure htospot for Win7 x64. I use it and it works. have you upgraded to the newest 2.2 release. Fixed a number f the kind of issues you mention. One cavaet: the new stuff seems to interfere with creating VPN connections on the laptop,

Yeah I'm starting to notice that. I stumbled on a guide using Windows 7 feature "netsh" which can enable a hotspot using your existing wifi connection, and I keep getting errors when enabling certain services required by this. Gonna try this again with Connectify off. So you dont have any issues with Connectify as far as connecting to your created hotspot like the ones I described? What do you have your settings set to in your Wireless settings area on your tab? What ROM are you using?
I have Connectify set to Autorun on my laptop, but even then I have yet to boot into Windows, turn on my tab, and have my tab just connect to my hotspot. Everytime I have to re-do the Setup Wizard, along with forget the connection on my tab and log back into that. Even then, that works maybe half the time.
Thanks for any info. you can lend my way!
So apparently, the "netsh" feature is only useful if you are connected through a LAN, then you share that connection via a wifi connection on the same pc. This defeats the purpose in my eyes, unless I missed something here.
Has anyone been able to use this Windows 7 feature with just a wifi connection and no LAN?
