Been discussed before, .... the creaking / scraping noise is due to a cover that slides underneath the slider in order to protect the ribbon cable. If you have a closer look and prod, you will see this on the main unit part.

Yep. Its annoying. Can definitely live with it though.

Mine definitely doesn't have this, on the back side of the screen, the part that slides against the keyboard, is all solid plastic. Not sure why the euro version has it, seems like it'd be annoying.

Flappy Bit Behind the Screen?

If you slide out the keyboard, and turn the device over, on the screen side above the htc logo there is a flap thing that you can slide down. What is this? It makes a bit of a noise when you open the keyboard, quite annoying.

I think it's there to protect the ribbon cable that joins the screen to the base.
It must be something to do with the keyboard linking to the rest of the phone when the keyboard is in use. YOu'll notice that when the keyboard is slid shut the slider opens. It doesn't really bother me from a noise perspective.
Just makes the opening / closing mechanism feel a bit rubbish. When actually it isn't, its just you fell that thin bit of plastic moving around. Shame.
I noticed that too. As others have said I think it is a slide mechanism to protect the ribbon cable linking the two halves.
Oh well. I dont care. No other phone can do all this stuff!

Keyboard spring noise

I know this has been discussed before but how many people can hear a noise which sounds like a spring when they open the keyboard. Feels very flimsy and nowhere near as solid as the tytn.
I hear it too; I thought it was just me. I had the Hermes before this, and I wouldn't characterize the slider as solid though
I hear it, but it feels pretty solid to me.
I hear it too, I don't like it one bit. Feels pretty solid though
a spring noise
I have no such thing as a spring noise when opening my keybord...
so my awnser to the poll: NO

Dont think its a spring, but a slider that protects the ribbon cable. when the device is open
Having listened again its more of a rattle and it rattles when the keyboard is open if you move the device about.
Hi All,
I maybe had the same thing.
If u flip your keyboard and turn your TP around u can see a little panel. This seem to be protecting something. This panel can go up and down and does so when you flip your kboard. In this panel is a spring
On My first TP (i switched mine becos of this fault) the panel jumped open, which sounded like a spring.
I ttink this is the problem.
I returned to the store and switched mine, np since.
Hope this helps
Mine is brand new today so do you think I should send it back? From the poll, seems about 50/50 people have the problem.
Edit...
It has all become clear, I can see the little plastic cover that is loose making the noise. Dont know if its suposed to be loose or not though
It's supposed to be loose, it moves while u flip your keyboard.
What happened with my old one (just after tweo days) that when i flipped my kboard, the plastic cover moves to far and opens for a brief second, hence the sound. I still have the sound but it's way softer cos tha plastic cover dont move that much.
Hope this helps, if u worry, return it, way to expensive !

Anyone concerned regarding the slideout keyboard noise?

Well, overall, I think the build quality of the Touch Pro is wonderfull! I love that its slightly heavy too!
But the keyboard slideoutmechanism, although very solid and robust gives away a worrying noise, sorta like its scraping against something. Anyone managed to confirm if this is nothing to worry about? I feel like I damage the device each time I pull it out.. lol
Regards
According to me that's the LCD flatcable cover sliding into place. With the device opened you'll find a little latch of sorts at the top of the screen back, that slides shut when opened and opens up to give the LCD flatcable some room to roll itself up in.
Nothing to worry about then!

Screen (Slider) Way Too Loose [SOLVED]

My fuze screen has became way to loose in the closed position. To provide a better example its like its got a hinge and wants to flip open rather then slide open. There is way too much up/down movement that way. Its so loose that when it vibrates the screen will vibrate on the casing and it makes or horrible rattle sound that makes me cringe every time I hear it. I have to hold the phone tight in my hand to stop the rattle. The weight of the screen will actually cause it to partly open by just flipping the phone over and holding the back.
Aside from duct tape, any good ways to fix this or tighten the mechanism that holds it position?
I have a similar problem but not as severe. Mine is just a smidge loose and when I press down on the side of the screen it slides a few millimeters and it's really annoying when I hold the phone. Any help fixing would be appreciated.
yea same here, it's not annoying but I don't trust it

When I originally mentioned duct tape, I was being sarcastic. Ironically, however, this is my fix to this problem.
I used the Gorilla Tape brand, because that's what I had. All I did was put three pieces of black gorilla tape on the back of the slider. This tightened it up, and stopped my annoying rattle. Pretty simple and easy fix.
Also, it made the snap feel when it slides out much more firm, and I really enjoy the feel of it much more now.

Weird sound from touch cover

Hi all, I posted this in the Q&A section but no one answered...
My touch cover makes a sound when I press the keys.. no it's not the "pop" sound from the OS.
video: youtube
Is it normal and does your touch cover also do this?
Never heard anything from mine or anybody else's except for the sound that the OS makes...

Wow, that is weird. They should be silent. Are you near a Microsoft store? I would think that would be swapped on the spot. And dissected.
There is a thin, pressure-sensitive layer which will deform a little bit under pressure (this is how it registers your keypresses) but it's almost invisibly thin and I've never heard anything before. Agreed with schettj on this one, although since it works anyhow if getting it replaced would be a hassle, you might be able to get by.
Has the cover ever gotten really wet? They're almost entirely waterproof (you can clean them with a damp cloth just fine, I'm not sure about a running faucet), but the contacts at the top are not sealed and if water got in there it might "squish" a bit.
Thank guys!!
Thanks everyone!
im 500km from the nearest ms store... :S guess I'll have a small trip soon...
just hope the replacement I get will be okay...
BTW my touch cover never got near any water..
Thanks again!!
