[03-04-2008] Slim 19199 WM 6.1 Rom

This is basically a clone of Merlin reloaded's slim wm 6.1 however the build has been upgraded from 19716 to 19199. The files were ported from the hermes build and I have verified that internet sharing DOES work on this build unlike build 19716. This build does not contain Merlin's font. The SYS portion is vanilla. The oem portion contains some basic apps such as camera, wm5torage etc.
Nothing has been done to prevent you from dumping this rom and using it as a base. On the contrary I ENCOURAGE you to and will also be including the Slim_19199_Cooking_Kit.zip which contains the ROM, SYS and OEM folders used to help with this.

I do not use file hosting services that penalize the downloader while rewarding the uploader such as rapidshare which is anything but. The oem rom version was not updated but the build # shows 19199.

Update (03/07/08) To those interested in "Activesync over Bluetooth" I am attached a replacement SYS\Bluetooth folder you can recook into the rom which uses a dll from another rom and should enable this functionality. Let me know if it does or does not work for you since I don't use this feature.
For those who don't want to recook you can replace the "bthasplugin.dll" from this package in the \Windows dir and reboot the phone. This has been confirmed to work by user pirlone.

I think I have hit a problem extracting the XIP with this though - it might be me, but when I attempt to extract the XIP is complains about a missing file

Hypercore does not correctly extract the XIP for wm 6.1 roms. You can either follow the instructions in the hypercore thread on how to use msflshtool to do it or download the cooking kit which includes the XIP already in the ROM folder for you.

Thank you, I knew it was something I was doing wrong.... I must admit I haven't been following the HyperCore thread too closely so I must have missed the posts about it not being able extract the XIP correctly.
Can I still use HyperCore to re-build the ROM or do I need another kitchen?
Does anyone know if VoIP works with this ROM? This is one of the reasons I have stayed with ItsRight's TNT 1933 ROM (or at least my re-cooking of his base ROM) as I use VoIP (it isn't fantastic but it is usable). Is there a package I can add in for VoIP when I re-cook this?

I have only one visual issue, that pops up on some roms - but not on others. There is a white triangle on the top bar beside the "E" icon that does not go away. It just sits there - does not activate anything ??
I've had similar issue with Merlin Rom - and others.
Does not effect any operational functions - just do not know what it is - or what it is supposed to do.

I built the rom using hypercore.... download the cooking kit....unzip the SYS, OEM and ROM folders to your BUILD directory after removing old ones........from there you should be able to do a normal hypercore build. As for voip...youll just have to find or build the oem packages and add to oem folder.

Thanks again. I noticed in the Hermes forums that Faria has released a ROM based on 5.2.19199 and he lists VoIP as being included. Does anyone know if the VoIP components he used are updated? Will they work on the Wizard or do I need to extract the older drivers/files that have been floating around for a while?

If the "white triangle" is sitting above the strength meter lines it's an antenna...you can disable it with a regedit I think. It may indicate roaming.

Since I don't use VOIP all I can suggest is that you try it. OEM packages should work almost everywhere. To my knowledge VOIP is NOT part of the SYS Hermes build which means he added it.

This may be out of place to ask here but I'm going to anyway.
I currently using merlins rom on my wizard and I am downloading this rom to flash. Do I need to flash my rom back to an original rom before flashing to this rom? Do I directly flash to this one? Or do I go all the way back to square one including downgrading my IPL/SPL and GSM? Thanks for any help and sorry if it is out of place to ask here.

It's always a good idea to flash a provider rom first to wipe out any "extended rom corruption" which can cause the battery to drain faster due to the phone trying to read an area over and over. When in doubt browse the "how to flash a rom" sticky at the top of the forum which has alot of good information.

No, it's not on top of the strength meter.
If I start from the right side of the screen, there is the the time, then the volume icon, then the stength meter, the either the "E" or "G" icon depending on network, and then a white triangle..........continue over - then you have the start and windows icons on the far left side.
The triangle is the same height as the E/G square icon and sits right beside it, between it and the start menu .
No biggie, like I said - does not effect anything at all.
I do not have any screen capture software - but there is a picture in this post that shows the area I am talking about.
It shows the E icon with the arrows - well, the white triangle on my screen is just left of that.

Hi, I need a little help here, do I need to flash to a new radio first to update my dive to the latest Dutty's ROM or can I do it after flash the ROM? and, Do I need to do a HardSPL everytime I flash a new ROM or a new Radio?

I am not very experienced but I think you only have to install hard spl once not every time you flash a new rom.
As for the other thing about radio I think (and this is just a sort of common sense guess) that maybe you would change the radio first then the rom as the 6.1 roms have to have a certain radio to work correctly.
As I am fairly new to this too i hope the dont flame me like they have you

Thanks! but I read that Radios compatible with WM6.1 crash any other OS that weren't 6.1, so if I update my radio it will crash my device because it is not 6.1 version? How can I update the phone to the 6.1 version if the needed radio will crash my actual OS?, I know that I'm confused but somebody can clear the things for me?

I dont think that is the case, if you do a hard reset then install the radio, then you can go into the bootloader and install the 6.1 rom.
As you will not be using the rom you have on it now I dont think you need to worry about it crashing
Also if it does then there is lots of help on the wiki and this forum about getting your phone up and running again should anything go wrong.
As I am fairly new to all this maybe you should wait for one of the other long standing members to confirm if I am right or wrong before proceeding.

Dutty's Hybrid and 19209 comes packaged w/ a radio.

I agree, reading is the only way you will know how to do something. Just like in school, you can't just have someone show you the answer if you want to remember and learn. I read for a couple days before I flashed and didn't have any problems whatsoever, a couple scary moments, but they were part of the process..haha. This flashing business isn't rocket science, anyone can do it, just read.

Open cab, removed file. Repack. Its attached under. Install and use any of the luang cabs you need from gullums tread. Only thing I did was removing ezinput.dll from gullum`s diamond keys.cab, all credit to gullum and dutty ofc

all these little bugs are are just that. little bugs. alot of them slip through the cracks on the beta becase the beta testers really dont use the rom stock. we often run a way more advance setup than everone else....so we start adding things from the minute we flash the rom. no fault of dutty's.....perhaps out fault as testers. but just hang tight. use the rom as much as possiable. list your issues and we'll find fixes.
i'd like for a mr.dutty to wait for a week or so until he releases a fix. that way we will all have time for all the bugs to surface. but so far it seems like annoyances thus far.

my only bug is the text messaging. lts say i text some one saying "Hi how are you."

it only seems to be happeing when i text someone with a sprint phone. its not radio related because tried 3 diffrent radios. i've seen this before a looong time ago...but an update was put out the issue was solved. didnt even get time to get to the bottom of it.

3.28 HardSPL is included in the ROM.

Hmm, the benchmarks for this are quite worse than the april 29th release? Just the graphics have improved, but just about everything else got worse.. Is this due to more software being supplied on the side, or because the diamond ROM is just slower in most areas than the default is?

No, If you already have HardSPL on your device it won't change anything. Many users have experienced freezes on there devices when running a older HardSPL. I have noticed an increase performance with the HardSPL 3.29 and 3.28
Please consult this thread for more info. Jockyw2001 has supplied the tools and Kyphur has provided and excellent write up and FAQ section. I highty advise you read it.

I have a similar question. I have hardSPL v1, and have been loading 6.1 roms for quite some time. Do I need to change my hardSPL version before I load this rom?

1st of all much respect dutty, thanks for putting the fire back in my eyes. Will you be releasing a version without SPL 3.28 included? I myself already have 3.29 with AT already on my device and I'm sure other do to. It's no big then to upgrade back to 3.29 again, but I just asking.

If your rom has hardspl already dont worry, jocky made an hardspl to fix the freezing problems which occured in the recent latest wm6.1 roms

you can just flash spl3.29 there is no difficulties in changing, there isnt much diference in both spls

SPL BENCHMARKS DOESNT necessary is tru especially with wm6.1 roms, this rom is more responsive, fast but you will just have to flash and testfor ur self

Be sure your bootloader shows these info:
================= Solving USB issues==========================
1- put your TP in bootloader mode (power button, camera and reset) then plug it on you pc.
2- Try again the RoomUpgradeUltility software, if no success go to next step!
3- With your device plugged on your pc, go to hardware management and remove the Microsoft USB Sync device. Make the hardware management to find new devices, they W'll find the Microsoft USB Sync device again. Try the updater again. If no success yet, try to change the usb port or: keep your device in bootloader mode when run the RoomUpgradeUltility plug your device.

i just tried this and it is much faster then your first release keep it up i think this looks more stable than Acidhax's rom

i found 2 bugs one bug is if i press option or shift key it is not shown at the bottom and another problem is that i cannot setup windows live email it quits on step 2 of windows live setup but to fix that you can install windows live again but the first bug bothers me when i have to type in a password i hope this bug can be fixed and thanks again for this rom

np maybe i installed an app that messed that up i didnt focus on that when i flashed this rom so i might work i just noticed it when i was typing the password in remote tracker and do we have to install palm's official patch on 6.5

I know some people want WM6.1, but you can't really base a WM6.5 ROM off of a working WM6.1 ROM, so if you want to develop both, you would be better off doing them separately.
I know WM6.5 is slower on the Treo Pro, and that's mostly due to the hardware, but I still prefer it, mainly because of kinetic scrolling. I hate trying to use the tiny scrollbar to scroll in apps, I would rather do flick scrolling.
I've been using NightRaven's build, so I might try this build.
Can you confirm if any of those bugs are in this ROM? (Contact Display while scrolling within the dialer, Martketplace issues, or application crashing)
In NightRaven's, I've been using a different dialer to get around the scrolling issue, and I've had some Marketplace issues with the white screen or it randomly stops responding.

I like 6.5 too. The bad news: there are few people building rom for Tre Pro. All help is welcome and will be appreciated.

Confirmed all this bugs, unfortunately still don't solved none in this rom yet, but I trying to solve by my self.

i just want to say besides those few bugs that i mentioned earlier its a really good build and i think i will keep it as my primary rom thanks for the rom you did really good work on it

Hmm, it's a nice screen! A temporary workaround for the dialer bug is to disable de dialer skin via Sktools.
I released a updated build with Alt keys fixed. Check it out!

I've tried that and it is nice and not slow at all!!!
Only two questions on my side:
1) When in landscape (resolution 220x340) I miss the rightmost keys, while in portrait all is perfectly good and calibrated. Is there something wrong I've done or better I shoudl do?
2) Is there any way to add languages (I'd like Italian): so far I've only English and that prevents using T9, while the compact qwerty works as a charm!

I have not never installed android yet. What excatly must I install? Must I instal NoMoRootFS on sd card and / or nand?

Read in main warm-donut-thread the first post. There are fixes for Wifi, but I didn't try them for now. Will do it later this day.

Hi there... nice questions, and the reply could be veeeery long and complex. I suggest that you have a loow around in teh forums as there is all that you need to know, no need to ask a response specifically for you. FOr instance this thread is very helpful.
I suggest that you don't start with SD card FAT+EXT+EXT install or NAND, but simply go for a ".sqsh" kind of installation, easier to change, remove, and when you're happy with the choice, you go eventually NAND. I never went, as I still need Winmo.

I can tell you that this worked for me, but it is difficult to say if it will work for you not knowing your configuration.. I believe that if we all would put into our signatures the configuration's we are working with, it would be easier to help each other.

must say it did activate wifi but not to usable state (see no nets)
unfortunately my polaris died on me so cant test further
unless it escapes that comma

What zimage do u use? I answered the Question for the latest zimage. That doesn't work for me. WIFI can't getting started.
Earlier zimage works with WIFI, but I have to wait for BT working on polaris. Need that for Carkit.

I currently use zImage-19-02-10 with Myn's warm donut release 3. I got to that "ancient zImage because the more recent ones stalled very frequently before getting to Android with message "error waiting for notbusy".
WE have exactly the same hardware, so let me ask you: I'm not aware of any software that can make bluetooth work on my machine. Did you experience any kind of success with yours? If so, which software did you use? Thanks.

As I understand that its a kernel issue to run BT. We have to wait for developer who realizes that for us. The BT-Chip of Polaris has to be supported by kernel.

Exactly. Now the issue is that the guru in this area is Mr. dzo. But dzo is currently focussing on Vogue only, and I'm not aware of any other genious (seriously, not something that anybody in the world would be willing/capable to do) working on it. I've no good idea on how we could "procure" one... any suggestion?
