Problem Reinstalling from Sprite Backup - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I hard reset my Touch Pro to test something out. On attempting to reinstall from my Sprite backup I've had a major problem.
Attempts:
1) A straightforward reinstall led to an 'SPBServices.exe cannot be found' message and TouchFlo repeatedly trying to start but failing.
2) In a second attempt I stopped the contents of the 'StartUp' folder from being reinstalled - which stopped the 'SPB' message from appearing but the TouchFlo problem still happened.
3) Third attempt - I set everything to reinstall except the contents of the Windows folder - this worked just fine except, of course, all the problems that come from trying to make anything run without the dlls etc. in that folder.
The only things I can think that might be messing with TouchFlo after the reinstall are:
I installed SSMaPa and made it give me Pocket Informant instead of the built-in WinMo calendar.
There's Pocket Informant itself. I have TomTom installed. Spb Traveler. Otherwise I can't think of anything else that would load at the start and possibly interferen with TouchPro starting.
Anyone got any ideas? Clearly it is something, a dll I assume, that I need to tell the backup not to reinstall. The last thing I want to have to do is reinstall everything manually.

Anyone? Suggestions? Solutions? Random abuse?

I dont understand what you are having backed up with SKtools. This being said, any backup made with SKtools should be used only on the rom you made it with. Every rom is diffrent as every chef is diffrent. Set it up from scratch and make a new backup. then when you hardreset you should be ok to use those backups.
It is your rom
I ran SKtools after setup everything with your vanilla ROM. Tha is clear. But while installing everything there must be a mistake - I don´t have messaging programs. I´ve set email accounts and everything was ok, stable and very fast. Today I recognized, that I couldn´t write anny message. It only makes nothing by pushing button 1. It makes nothing, when I go to Programs - Messaging.
After hardreset everything works great. So while installing and befor making a bakup of your ROM and my settings - there must be a break in these part. So after restore I have the same problem like before. So I have to install everything again. My fault I think.
But the backup I made is naturaly from your ROM.
You realize you are backing up and restoring on WM6 and most tools are not upgraded for WM6 yet. Could be that SKtools restore (or backup) doesn't work quite right with WM6. Just a guess, but anyone running WM6 should realize that some things just may not work (or appear to work but then break, or worse, break other things due to bad interactions).
Welcome to the bleeding edge!
First test
It hase been my first test with SKTools and everything is fine. Everything works. But perhaps I haven´t realized that messaging was not running before I made the backup. So when I restore - I restore the mistake. So I´ve got to hardreset and start again.
No problem. Third time this week with different ROM
I read from another thread that the way wm6 stores the contact list is quite different from wm5. Maybe this is why SKTools can't restore the backup correctly on wm6.
No problem
Backup works perfektly.
I cannot run any messageaplication.

same thing here. Backup with spb backup 1.55 does work fine for other wm6 rom but don't work (restoring) for this rom.
spb works fine but doesn't restore the messenges which are backuped, the rest of the restore works great
strange
da heufster
Hard reset made it
After one hour and ahrdreset, messaging is again working. Don´t know why it was broken.
But now have again 25MB after sktools optimize.
Running fast.
Thank you.

Help... My touch restore settings automatically

I don't know why this is happening, probably because I deleted something in the windows folder. My touch restores system registry(or database) automatically when I don't want it to. The softkeys go back to original, pocket activesync not working and the exchange informations are wiped out, contacts are all deleted, and the most weired thing is, the mail/sms application won't start!
I've tried so many times, restoring to the previous version, and it worked for a while, then if I try to sync the email again, everything comes back!
Please, please, please! I've come a long way to make my touch so perfect for me, I don't want to do it all over again!!!
Somebody help me! PLEASE!
Update:
I kinda got it fixed somehow, anyway, I first restored, and used PIMbackup to backup the contacts something etc... then go directly to activesync, and delete everything before they disappear, then reset, then used pimbackup to restore everything, then it works fine now, email's fine, contacts' fine, everything's fine.

iFonz very slow / crashing

I think I've put this in the right place, but Mods please feel free to move it if I haven't.
My O2 XDA Ignito (HTC Touch Diamond in a different housing) has worked perfectly with iFonz for many months. I'm on version 1.1.2. I am very, very happy with iFonz and would not want to go back to TouchFlo which is nowhere near as good.
Yesterday, iFonz suddenly started operating extremely slowly. I thought I had crashed, but in fact it responds to commands but takes anything from 15 seconds to over a minute to do so. Until then, it has been virtually instantaneous.
The first command I issue after it's been left for some time will work as normal, but if I open (say) the PI Calendar, then close that - the nothing else will work for about 15 seconds after the keypress.
The only change I know about is that I had a problem with ActiveSynch to a new desktop installation (the familiar 0x86000107 problem) which I fixed in the usual way by deleting and reinstalling the pairing. Activesync worked fine after that.
I have S2U2 running - but that's always been there.
I noticed from the time I first installed iFonz that it would not update its header bar for several seconds after starting, but everything else worked OK.
Can anyone suggest a cause or a fix? I'm reluctant to uninstall and reinstall because I've set up 4 pages of icons and don't want to lose all that work.
I never used iFonz but i'm pretty sure the settings are kept somewhere so you can export them and not have to set everything up from the beginning. I always suggest uninstalling to check what causes the problem.
Thank you. Indeed, that is what I would have expected. I've searched the machine carefully, and found the iFonz software but no settings file.
I've PMed the author, and meanwhile I've taken iFonz off the startup list and running Touchflo instead. I don't like it anything like as much as iFonz, but it works.
Well, there's been no reply from the author, and everything I've tried (including uninstall and reinstall) has made no difference. Sad, because I liked iFonz.

Please tell me how to fix the above a bit more specifik...
I don't understand what you mean by: "pairing"
"Pairing" is setting up the ActiveSync connection between the PDA/phone and the PC so that they will synchronise when you connect them.
If you get the error, you have a problem. I fixed mine for a few months, but then the problem came back worse, and the fixes that used to work stopped. Basically, I don't think ActiveSync is capable of doing the job reliably. It deleted all my contacts (losing me a load of names and addresses that I needed and couldn't recover). I threw it out some time ago.
I now use an iPhone which doesn't have any of those problems.

Phone Locks Up when Keyboard Slides Out

When I slide my keyboard out my TP 2 freezes up. I have uninstalled everything that isn't stock on my TP 2, and it still feezes when I pull out the keyboard. I had this problem once on my TP 1 and it turned out to be the PIM went bad and I had to re-enter my entire contacts list. I am hoping to find a better solution this time. I am thinking it might be either Adobe FlashLite, which I can't seem to get to uninstall, or right before it quite working I used PPC PIM Backup V2.1 and Caxixi which is a Samsung game and had an SDK file withit. As far as I know everything has been uninstalled. I am accepting any ideas. Thanks in advance.
**Edit**
So I did a hard reset and it seems to have fixed whatever I had messed up. Now the only problem is I'm worried about using the backed up PIM and having the problem re-occur

ActiveSync-intermittent

ActiveSync - intermittent problem with "retrieving settings"
I have this problem now on my Touch Pro. I have also had it on my Kaiser. This is an intermittent problem where - occasionally and unpredictably - when I connect my phone to my pc, I get an error when the pc attempts to "retrieve settings" from my pocket pc. It fails to do so, and then only allows me to access files on the PPC, no syncing possible after I go through a setup screen.
The fix for this is simple but time consuming: On the PPC I do menu -> options and then delete the device (pairing) there. On the PC, I remove Activesync and reinstall it. When both of these are completed, I reconnect everything up, go through the setup screens and all is well. Until it happend again.
I am using AS 4.5 on a PC with XP. My PPC uses 6.1 (The Kaiser was 6.0). I will also add that I have LOTS to sync in outlook:
400 contacts
7000 Agenda entries
100 Todos
20 notes
I have - actually over the last 2 years! - searched for a solution, I have searched these pages, googled, etc, etc. I see lots of people have more permanent problems with activesync connectivity, but my problem is different: I could be fine for about a month and then have a problem for no apparent reason.
Can anyone help? Does anyone know what happens when the activesync program on the pc says "retrieving settings"? Is it looking in the PPC registry or at a file used for activesyncing (e.g \pim.vol - mine is over 19MB)?
I am happy to go poking around in either devices registry, and will look at all suggestions.
I would
uninstall activesync
and go to regedit and remove everything related to activesync
reinstall it sync everything
hardreset the pda
and sync it again so it get all data from outlook that would
fix the pim being that big

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, in the past I have also manually deleted the pim file - without sucess.
I would guess the problem is down to the volume of data I'm syncing and that something is just getting confused occasionally. If this is the pim file then the only solution is my own rather brutal one. But maybe its just a control file or registry setting gone bad - any ideas?
I have effectively done a hard reset with my move to a touch pro and, in any case, don't want to spend days reinstalling everything !
Oh, and some final thoughts:
o This happened more often on the Kaiser - possibly due to its much slower USB speeds?
o Every time it happens I loose all my speed dials in my phone- aaarrrggghh!
Anyone have "insider knowledge" of what's going on?
