Rubbish Battery Life - HTC Vox

I hope this is not normal, i am realy dissapointed about the battery life of my vox.
Yesterday at 6 in the morning I woke up from a warning sound that the battery was almost flat. I plugged it in, got up at 11.30 and started him up.
Did 2 calls and 4 text messages, and at 22.30 when i was watching TV i got the battery warning again!
Same thing happend today, why isn't my battery lasting longer than 12 hours?
I coudn't have done something wrong while charging/discharging becous it only lasts 12 hours so its always fully discharged before recharging.
And i always closed the running apps in the task manager (taakbeheer).

What applications do you have installed that startup automatically?

i just got the original rom installed after some problems with the Neo rom

Cells in the battery might be on the verge on death. Run the battery down to 0, cover the second pin from the left with electrical tape and put it to charge while turned on or with a seperate charger. Charge it full to 100%, remove the tape and put it back to charge. Run your "daily" test again and see how she fares.
I have an extra 2250mAh I can sell you if you want, doesn't come with an extended battery cover however.

how can they be dead? i just got the phone for a week. :s factory error?

Oh, a week? That's not right at all.

Well, it's still Windows Mobile! <img>

I don't think it's the battery.
I had this problem about 5 times already..rebooting the phone seemed to fix it every time.
I'm not saying rebooting will fix your phone but I'm almost sure it a software issue.
were there times it did work as it should?

First recharge was held a full day of internet. and i watched a 20min episode of King Of Queens.
I'm goint to try the phone for another few days, if the problem still occurs i'll ship it back to my store.

hmm
battery is now holding fine. It could last more than a week now on standby.

HTC S710 1050 mAh battery last more than a week, unbelievable

Mine lasts 3 days tops
Now i have it @228Mhz probably 2 if I don't do anything with it.

I will be getting myself a Nokia E71 so I'll have 2 2250mAH batteries and an extended cover with soft touch if anybody is interested in buying them for cheap.
I'll also probably sell a 2GB SD and an OEM 1050mAH with it. Keeping 2 1050's at the Vox as a backup.
Just throwin' it out there.

Well not a week but i checked regularly and the batt lost about 15-20%/day on standby?
It think it needed a few charges to be fully usable.
Working fine now.

I only use it one day before recharging anyway. It drains to literally nothing. I am a very have user (or should I say gamer??^^) You know, school is sooooooo boring!

When i was in school i always had my laptop in front of me ^^
Hide taskbar + alt-bat ftw!

hey guys, according the latest test of my battery, it lasted just 3 hours with wifi on. i've just upgraded to neo rom yesterday. can any body help? and can anybody explain which cell of the battery hawaiii is talking about.

I have 2 2250mAH cell batteries if you would like them. I am no longer using my Vox so they are no use to me. They have been used for roughly one week and come with an extended battery cover with soft touch paint on it.

are these batteries bigger? do thet stick out?

Battery Solution - Anyone brave enough ?

Has anyone seen this or tried it ? It seems that no one has cooked their battery. I went to three Cingular stores today trying to find a replacement battery without success. I ended up buying an over-priced car charger just so I could return a few calls as I drive home.

... seen what exactly? I see a very short blog entry about a guy and his battery problem, and 109 responses to it. I'm not sure where the bravery part kicks in, unless I'm missing something.
It's this part :
Take a USB cable cut off one end and expose the red and black wire. Touch the black to the negative pole of the battery and the red to +, directly.
The other end of the USB cable goes into the computer's USB port.
I have now tried this and am in the midst of charging my phone. I'll send an update later today
batteries don't last forever. Mine died and i had the same issue you had. I called every Cingular store around and none had them. Finally found one 30 minutes away for $60 so i bought it and then ordered 2 spares for $20/each online. the online ones took forever and a day to get here, but i now have spares.

When you say it was the same issue, was it general battery life, or specific applications ?
For me, it was making phone calls. The battery drain seemed not to change much during a call compared to idle at ~130mA but the drain was phenomenal. Compare this to leaving BT, GPRS, push E-Mail and WiFi which caused a gradual drain during the day. It led me to thinking this was a software issue, therefore why waste money on a spare battery ?
If this helps, I think I will buy a battery before this one dies completely on me.

ok sounds like a different issue. my battery would not hold a charge. nothing to do with software issues.
Hi,
I had nothing but trouble with the battery with every single WM6 ROM I tried. Thinking it was software, heard stories about calibration. Tried the draining complete, and then recharing, nothing seemed to solve the absurd battery drain problem. I often switched back to my good old Nokia (they just won't die) during the day due to a critical battery level. Sometimes even after only a few phone calls.
I replaced my battery a few weeks ago and since then I haven't had a single day I had to recharge during the day. It lasts all day, like it used to.
Maybe it's WM6, maybe it's a battery calibration problem, or any other software related problem. But I for one am very happy I invested those bucks in a new battery, I now can finaly really enjoy my WM6 wizard.
Cheers,
Cacti
I've had problems with the phone resetting constantly for months and then eventually, the phone not being able to charge. The phone is not that old, and Li-ion batteries don't die that quickly. Nevertheless, I bought a new one on ebay with the same results. Turns out, my power connection was loose despite what appeared to be a solidly soldered connection to the board. I had to almost pry it off and readjust it. Now it works fine. Talk about pain in the ass.

Touch Pro 2 battery In DZ

Hey All,
Today I decided to look into a larger capacity battery for my DZ NAM, and I took a look at my old Touch Pro 2...
The Battery fits quite well, its 1500mAh as opposed to the 1300 with the DZ.
I had to trim out the plastic on the TP2 battery, and then place it in upside down.
The cover pops up slightly after the battery is in, nothing that would bother you lots, in other words its not as flush as the original DZ battery.
I am going to use it to swap out between my 2 batteries.
Hope this helps, not bad for a free battery in my case
Great news !!
I have also a BA-S390 from my old Touch Pro 2... I'll try this tonight !
When you charge the battery inside the phone is it getting hotter or colder than the original DZ battery ?
I just got 2.5 days out of my stock Z battery and still had 60% left (granted didn't use it much).
I left my charger at work, and had a snow day yesterday.
I don't know what all the fuss about battery life is about.

Len,
To get 2.5 days out of a smartphone you must firstly not be overclocking at all, and secondly you must not have used it one bit.
2.5 days = total non usage
Even the iphone4 with its powersaving a4 chip does not get 2.5 days, unless you dont touch the beast.
And i like to generally use my phone

Actually I am overclocked to 1.4ghz and underclocked for screen off.
You are right, I hardly touched the phone at all, I did need it as an alarm twice in the time I was without a charger. (I was forced into this situation by leaving my charger at work)
But it shows that with no use the phone only loses 1% a day.
I generally lose about 2-4 percent an hour not in use. But my phone is sync'ed up to everything, lol

Who said anything about fuss?
I was pointing out that the TP2 battery works, and is larger capacity... I have a ton of reasons to have a second battery and would rather not spend an extra $40.
I travel lots... and I use my phone to watch tv on the plan.
Not sure about how hot the battery gets on charge, haven't used it much yet.
As for the original I get 2 days with moderate use.

that comment wasn't aimed at you
Just that there have been lots of complaints about battery life on this phone (and the desire HD)...those people obviously never had a Desire as the battery life on the Z and HD are loads better than the desire ever was.
agreed, I find the stock battery tollerable on my DZ
@Blesseld: i also have a tp2 battery lying around, so if you happen to charge it, i would be really thankful for any reports about the charging behavior...

I'll do a little test tonight/tomorrow and report back.
Cheers
I have descended from tp2pro aswell, and must admit that I have used my old tp2 battery from the second day I had a DZ. I must admit I have 'trimmed' it so that it doesn't cause any bulge on the metal flap covering the batt compartment, and I can say that even though the old batt is 6 months old it performs well enough to get me through the whole working day. I do make a lot of calls a day, I keep I-net connection constantly on, and I never switch Bluetooth off....
I realize its a heavy load on the battery but afterall I got the fone to do its job (calls, emails, driving, gps, etc).
The battery lasts well into from 8am to 7pm (with my heavy usage) but must say that whenever I'm driving I will have fone charging, regardless of its power level.
Nevertheless, I have a spare battery at hand ( original DZ one) should the worst happen.
FYI, my daily batt stats is usually as follows: display 30percent, voice calls 35 percent, and remaining 35 percent spread somewhat evenly amongst remaining series that have to run in the background.
Unfortunately though, I haven't got enough experience with the original DZ battery, to give you a comparison.... remember I used it only for a day or two, when I was still getting used to the whole new world of android and DZ

Does anyone have experience with the 1800mAh Mugen battery from the TP2 in the DZ? I'm tempted to go for that assuming it fits...?

[Q] Weird Battery Issues

I have always had pretty good battery life with my phone up until a few days ago. All of a sudden, the phone claims to run out of battery life in about 3 hours. The battery percentages often don't make sense, it will shut down due to low battery, but I plug it in for 5 minutes and it claims to be back up to 60% battery. One time it claimed the battery was at 999% for about an hour while charging.
I haven't installed any new apps, and none of the ones that are currently running strike me as the culprit. Haven't really changed anything and haven't noticed that the phone is running hotter than normal.
At this point I think my battery might be bad, I ordered a replacement but I am open to suggestions, would really like to get this fixed, having to charge it every few hours is a pain.

Yes I am rooted running EaglesBlood AOSP release 2. It was running fine for weeks until this started just recently though.
Did you by any chance plug in an HDMI cable to your phone?
Check under the little plastic cover that covers the HDMI port for debris/a short.
I had HORRIBLE battery life for a few days until I discovered a little metallic piece of something (like 2mm across) had worked its way under the cover (from my pocket, I assume) and was bouncing around and randomly shorting the pins.
I haven't used the HMDI port but I have opened the cover and tried to clean it, will let you guys know if that helped thanks
Are you useing the DS battery driver in your kernel? That give odd reading's
Sent from my LG-G2x using Tapatalk 2
not sure, I am just using whatever came with the ROM.
Blowing the dust out of the HMDI port didn't work, I still only got 5 hours of battery life yesterday. At this point I'll wait for my replacement battery to come in and see if that helps.
Edit: I think I figured this out, something was wrong with exchange and it kept trying to sync which was draining my battery. thanks for your help guys.
My replacement battery from anker came today, it runs much cooler than the stock one now and the battery life is fantastic. I went overboard with the battery life changing all my settings and downloading juice defender as well, now i'm getting better battery life than i was before this happened.

[Review] Anker 6400 MAH extended battery

I love my Note 4 and the battery life is way better on the stock battery than plenty of other phones but there are times I need to run longer between charges and so I picked up an Anker 6400 MAH extended battery currently $26.99 through their power user program. I had the Anker 7200 MAH with my Galaxy S3 so I was hoping for another great experience. Similar to when I reviewed the 7200 I will use the following apps to accellerate testing to a resonable timeframe and then do a real time test:
1) battery drain
2) Gsam battery monitor
Unfortunately there was no included case so I ended up ordering the hyperion tpu case which really is not much more than a skin case but there are no Seidio or other extended battery cases right now. With the included cover on the phone the back is a little slicker than I like and I would be concerned that I might send it flying pulling it out of my pocket, something to keep in mind. So first, here are some pix
So in checking the battery is around 1.8 oz more and it does make the phone bigger. When I got it, there was around 56% battery so I immediately threw it on the quick charger and in an hour it was full.
I put on the battery drain around 730PM and around 1:43 it was depleted, put it back on the samsung charger and it was back to full before between 3 and 4 am. It almost seemed to charge faster than the OEM battery with no rounding of the charging curve at all.
during the accelerated discharge it got around 6:15 hr at full brightness with everything, wifi, bluetooth ect running as well.
So next I put it to normal use. As I mentioned in OP the case is slippery so I had it sitting on my desk while working rather than in my pocket. It got around 3+ hours a day of use and ended up with 7:15 of screen on time, 20 hrs of wifi and 34 of 4G. The graph shows a break, at that point I got my new 128GB micro sd card and the phone shut off while I switched it and i did not initially realize it. when i turned the phone back on the charge went up. That did not happen then next time I had to reboot but that is why it says 104%. The reason the graph says 3 days is because it is going from the last time a battery was charged full. and since I had a standard battery on for a day or so it added that time in but you can see monday morning to wednesday afternoon. For the period from 5% to 1%, it ran over an hour and I was using the screen continuously at that point. but it doesn't appear to be like the ZL that runs for a day at 1%. What I want this battery for is travelling so I don't have to dig my external battery up or even carry it on every trip, and with 7+ hrs of screen I will be able to get to either coast and still have enough battery for navigating once I get there.
Sir. Where is the Review???

the battery of my nexus 4 go mad should i change it

Hello Guys
today my phone i don't know whats happening
the battery be 50 and go 70 and then go 2 so i don't know whats happening should i replace battery or what
i install (Ampere) app and tell me the health of battery is good so i don't what i should do
I would replace the battery. Battery is cheap on ebay even they are likely to be faked. I replaced batteries both of my Nexus 4 with those potential fake one. The temperature sensor isn't working on one of them so I know it is faked. But it doesn't give me trouble so far. I bought three from three different sellers.

Hello,
I've got the SAME problem with my Nexus 4 this week.
I'll try to say what happened (and I didn't resolve this yet)
First of all, it is shuting down my N4 all the time. I need to keep it at charged.
I tried to change my battery with a friend (with N4 too) and the problem persists.
I tried to change our USB modules, without success.
At this phone everything is working alright, even with battery (so it isn't a battery problem).
I cannot charge my battery or calibrate it. I charged my battery at his N4 and put at my N4: "74% battery" (it was 100%).
My gauge do some crazy jumps. It's like "15%, 76%, 100%" and when i put it off "100%, 44%, 2%".
NOTE: I tried to calibrate several times.
It keeps shuting down at normal use.
This problem occurs -at the first time- when I was at Android 5.1.1 (Chroma ROM). I changed to Android 6.0.1 and it still not working.
At charger works very fine.
At "TWRP" it works fine too (don't shutdown)
I REALLY don't know what can I do.
Now, i'm will install a Stock Rom just for science.
I have this problem(random shutdown, random reboot, when plug in battery dance) too. 6 six month ago I changed battery because phone battery drained as ****,so I used my phone only when plugged in (battery wasn't charging, just keep charge) and one day I used my n4 too long without charging, so battery drains. n4 died till I changed battery.
Everything stock, android 5.1.1 LMY48T, still hoping for OTA updates.English isn't my mother language, so will be pleased if you check it
Now I think about buying new phone. As for me its to much change battery one more time. Or itsnt batterys' fault?
I got back the Nexus 4 from a relative because she got a new phone. Also a cousin had a nexus 4. The batteries are terrible. Its been over 3 years so this was expected. I'm hoping the new battery will give it respectable SOT. Right now it just randomly dies at 50% or higher. And I have to wait for it to really die before I can bring it back to life. Its got the RED LED of Death.
Got to say, its a beautiful phone still. Forgot how nice it was
i buy new battery now its work fine

Beware! The majority of batteries sold on ebay are fake! You can identify them by the look: their print on the label is not white, it's more like a dirty grey. Also they are smaller (1-3mm) in length and width. Also they lack a temperature sensor and constantly report a temperature of 22-23°C. A quick check with a hairdryer will reveal it. Don't install these fake ones. I did twice and both failed within less than 100 cycles. Runtime was poor and they were swollen so much they lifted away the back cover!
I just got a Nexus 4 that my mother was using and installed CM13 and now Lineage 14.1 for my father to use. I'm also facing these random shutdowns.
On my last charge, I charged to 100% without any problem and left the phone in standby for a day and a half which took it down to 89%. I then used it last night to give it some SOT and left it at 74%. Just before going to bed, I pressed the power button and nothing. With a long press the phone booted and reported the battery at 73%. Waking up this morning I expected to press the power button and find the phone on something like 67%. Once again the phone had shut down and when I booted, the battery was on 2% and shutdown itself down straight after boot.
If the battery performance is rubbish, I can accept that due to the age of the phone. What I cant accept is totally inaccurate battery reporting and shutdowns. :crying:
I replaced the battery of my Nexus 4 yesterday, purchased from AliExpress. I suppose it is a fake one. The battery was too big to fit into the enclosure. I had to force it to let it fell into place. Finally it fell into place and it was connected, the phone won't turn on. The phone has given only a red led of death for about 12 hours. Probably it means a battery failure. I don't think the cheap batteries are in good condition and I don't think they're safe either.

Agree, I got one from AlieExpress too. But that was not lasting even equal to my 3 years old battery. Had to complain at multiple places to get the refund but finally got it.

I think the best chance to get an original battery is to purchase a battery from spareslg.com. The price of the battery is a bit too high in my opinion: 22,60 euros at the moment. A second hand nexus 4 costs approximately 60 euros, 80 euros tops, in the Netherlands. I don't know how much a second hand nexus 4 costs in Turkey. Perhaps it's better to consider a second hand nexus 4 and use your old nexus 4 for spare parts. A known issue of the nexus 4 is that the digitizer will stop randomly and the glass at the front and back of the phone is fragile.
