Apache Linux - XV6700, PPC-6700 ROM Development

I would like to install linux on my Apache, work on WiFi ect. Will this disrupt any files on the main memory for WM6 and can I get out of linux without performing a hard reset? Is it easy to get back to WM6 with just a soft reset?
Thanks...

Big Storage Upgrade for an idiot

Hi
Can someone please give me a step by step idiots guide for getting rid of all the [email protected] that orange put on the m500, thus making the phone run quicker?
I haven't got an SD card reader, is that a problem??
Cheers.
If you just want to get rid of the pre-installed software, you can do so quite easily: Just do a hard reset (hold down power button while pressing reset). Then, after you have finished the touchscreen calibrating stuff etc., there will be a popup saying the device will be configured automatically in 3 seconds. Now, do a soft reset at exactly this point and nothing will be installed. The ExtROM is still there, you can look at it with the file manager and manually install any of the programs you want.
If you want to completely remove the ExtROM, thus increasing the size of the Storage folder, then you need to do the BigStorage hack. It's not too hard, there are many good step-by-step guides available. A very good one written by HBK can be found here. You will definitely need an SD card reader though.
If I do the reset, will I lose everything else that i've got stored??

Yes, with a hard reset, RAM is cleared and you will lose all data. Unfortunately, that's the only way to get rid of the pre-installed programs, as you can't uninstall them the normal way. Your calendar, todos, etc. won't be lost if you sync it to your PC first, but any settings you made or 3rd party programs you installed will.

will hard reset erase wm6.1

if i hard reset my treo 750 ...that already has the upgraded WM6.1..will it erase the WM6.1 and restore it back to WM5 that it originally came with?
Oh it definitely will not erase your WM6.1 upgrade, only personal data, so rest assured WM6.1 is there to stay. The only way you would erase WM6.1 is if you flash another ROM, naturally.
I myself have hard reset many times one after the other (to test program compatibility with this Chinese ROM I'm using) and WM6.1 has returned to life again and again. There has got to be a limit as to how much your device will appreciate continuous Hard Resets in a row, though. I relate Hard Resets similar to formatting a memory card, there's always consideration for how many file deletions flash memory can take.
thanks,
ive been having problems with my treo 'auto soft resetting' and i think for last resort im going to have to do the hard reset..and cross my fingers!
Do you know if I have my Treo ported to Metropcs and I hard reset....will I lose my settings?

Xperia X2 Help

Hi Guys,
I have a strange question for you.
I have an Xperia X2 phone (not hacked or anything) and today, the phone froze, restarted and it seems like it lost the custom SonyEricsson software which was on it and reverted to the basic Windows Phone 6.5 software. However, for instance, Office Mobile is not working, and file explorer hangs sometimes, not to mention that I miss the user interface as some of the buttons won't work without the custom software.
So, I took a deep breath and tried to hard reset the device, however, it didn't go as I planned.
I've tried the following, all to no avail:
-Settings/System/Memory, I reckon it has a third tab to start the hard reset (Main, Storage card and ...Clear user settings?), however, now it only shows two tabs...
-followed the reset steps (inserted stylus, held the power button)
-installed a custom hard reset application from handango
-initiated a wipe from my Exchange mailbox
Whatever I do, it just simply boots back the corrupted version of the OS.
Do you have any idea how could I hard reset the phone to have the OS reinstalled with the custom extensions?
many thanks!
gyorgy

Windows Mobile 6.1 XV6900

Today I was messing with Advanced Config 3.3 and when messing with the pressure threshold I saw that there was a choice for default. Wrongly thinking I had messed with it as it was on custom I just soft reset without thinking. I know what I did was dumb but is there any way to edit my registry or do something without hard reseting my phone? I have tried installing mymobler and working with reg editers but I keep getting either a yes or no prompt (which I can not tap because the pressure thresshold is too low) or access denied when using Cereg Editor... anybody have a signed remote.exe from mymobler that would work?
Your best bet is to do a hard reset honestly. When I was using Windows Mobile, I would do at most 3-5 hard resets a day. It's usually the fix all problem.

[Q] Vox/S710 - Operational Problem?

Hi,
My Vox/S710 is not working fine:
1- Doesn´t boot with the Micro SD Card instaled. I have to remove it to phone start.
2- Too slow, and i dont use several programs at the same time.
3- Alarm starts by himself!
I´m using WM6 Standard. I never try to replace the rom.
Please, help! ( sorry for my english).
It happens with the original Standard WM6 ROM.
Try any of the Custom ROM's from this forum..... all your problems will be solved.
The shipped ROM is also working fine for me. You should try the following first:
Soft Reset the phone on a regular base (once a day) - this will keep memory fragmentation minimal. -> Switch off/on once a day.
Run chkdsk on your memory card. Put in a card reader on the PC and execute chkdsk <drive:> /f on the commandline
Always really close programs when you start another. WMPlayer is a big memory hog, other programs may be as well. Use the Taskmanager to close them.
For the alarms check if the notification queue has some zombies left. Use sktools to clean that up.
If that all does not help only then consider a hard-reset. This will factory reset your device and delete all installed programs as well as data you have entered (contacts, email, text-messages, everything on the device). The device is then from software side in the state like new out of the box.
Putting another ROM on the device will be like a hard reset + you have a new ROM with some problems solved and others probably created. You could go for that only after you did a hard reset anyway.
