Hi,
Since the Diamond was born, everyone talks about its energy capacities... which are not so bad after all (and after applying some tweaks), compared to screen resolution, processor speed, size, ... !
Without being a energy paranoïac, in pure mobilty condition, I think I resolved the problem as I use to go out with one or two more batteries in my pocket, in case of
So here is my batteries collection :
- the OEM 900 mAh
- 2 others 900 mAh
- a 1800 mAh Cameron Sino with a special back cover

You will see all pictures in this picasa album
Comparison (size / weight)
Diamond with 900 mAh = 12 mm / 104 g
Diamond with 1800 mAh and full adpated back cover = 17 mm (+5 mm ~ +30%) / 118 g (+12g ~ +22%)
Note that you could use the 900 mAh battery with the 'big' back cover.
omg
its the size of a house brick
you can't stick that in a case well a suit case maybe
but the real question is should we really have to carry extra batterys about to make this phone last as long as it really should??
LOL I have all the same batteries
I now have 8 spare 900mh cells and tend to carry 1 extra in my wallet. I also got the usb cradle from the same shop on eBay. I will upload some pics too.
It was all so darn cheap too a few pounds...
If they were that cheap the batteries won't be legit... Just be careful with them and don't expect a full 900mAH!
Of course if you're certain they are legit, then please post some links/prices!
great pictures
about 1800mah
1- how many hours of charging to get 100% charge?
2- how many day its stay without charging ? (normal use)
3- does the GPS work ?
4- does the battery get hot in anyway ?
i'm sorry but that whole big battery/cover is hard to look at.
tss
I agree.. reason why I bought Diamond is slim design.. These batteries make it really really ugly. I mean REALLY ))

Have you had any issues with the 900mah batteries not being properly recognised by the phone i.e. it won't show their remaining capacity etc? Reason I ask is that I have tried 2 and they both did this...
Warning: Loss of sensitivity with 1800mAh Battery
I made extended tests with original battery and cover and with the 1800mAh and its cover.
The sensitivity of the gps is greatly reduced from
1) the new battery
2) the new cover (maybe it has some metal painting)
with the new battery and cover is almost impossible to get a fix even outside (with radio .05 at least)
Even with the original battery with the new cover the sensitivity is reduced.
What about this 1800mah battery + cover.
*although it also a turtle !!
Any idea it affect the GPS ?
*was told by the shop here that this one is OK .... not sure thou??
I have a similar one from ebay (EUR15 including shipping to NL from HK) and while GPS is fine, it kills the photo function because of lack of a protective transparent plastic (just a hole) and a dark shadow in every image because of the plastic "hump" next to the lens...
hi,
did you buy this one:
http://cgi.ebay.de/Power-Akku-Li-Po...39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
i am searching a 1800ma Batterie with GPS function properly
Has anyone tried using one of those ebay desktop chargers to charge their oem genuine HTC diamond 900mah battery?....if so did you find any issue with it like reduced battery life or not charging to full capacity or the battery depletes quicker while in use?.....basically im thinking of buying an extra genuine HTC Diamond 900mah battery and use one of the ebay cheap battery desktop chargers and I dont want to waste the expensive genuine battery as the charger may not be compatible with it or something......thanks in advance.
OHH , so the turtle hump 1800 mah does work with GPS.

oh my life, cant stand the size n look of these back covers, the oficial extended battery is marginally better, but still 2 thick, im just gonna w8 till a ~1100mah battery comes out thats the same size as the stock 900 one...
i think the "Turtle" look is ok. its still thinner than other smartphones or handys and it should last a long time?!?
where to buy this turtle battery please?

http://www . youtube . com/watch?v=iTJRyVjBw-g
Arghh makes the phone a real brick! I would've been happy with a 2000 mAH if it would keep the thickness down!
Ridiculously big! I agree, make a 2000-2500 battery and only extend the hump on the back only over the whole battery. Should still look real slick and doesn't make the phone look like a lunchbox
Agreed, 2000-2500 would be fine as long as the thickness can be kept down to a maximum of about the iPhone 3GS.
As the poster above said, ideally just make the entirety of the back plate the thickness of the Galaxy S's hump on the lower part instead of sucking inward anmd use the extra space for the battery.
My question is, can the batteries be made into different shapes? Because if the battery can extend out slightly why can't it then flatten over like the SIM card area to use all the space available under a raised back plate?
here's the full link to make the life of other people easier

i will not buy the 1600 mAh one, it is pointless from 1500 mAh stock
however the 3200 mAh i'll consider for sure, unfortunately the size is a little bit ridiculous. it's like having 2 phones stuck together.
at least they include the back plate
too bad it looks horrible, maybe i could put some stickers on it, or paint it with some colour spray
- Edit -
Did anyone catch what's the price for the 3200 mAh with the huge back cover?

Great find, just what i've been looking for. I've searched Mugens website but can't find the battery, suppose will have to wait a few days.
Has anybody tested the life of the battery to check whether it does actually give 2x the life of the stock battery?
Thanks.
I WANT THIS
can't wait.
holy cr*!P that is ugly! however, i could be very tempted with such a battery, i previously had a mugen 3200mAh on my Nexus One and it would easily last 48 hours under my normal usage (sometime 3 days).
but yikes that does look really really thick - i wonder if all the empty space at the top of the backplate helps the audio on the phone. i can always kid myself
i knew as soon as i ordered a zenus flip case somebody would release an extended battery pack. maybe i should just get into the habit of carrying spares, or an external USB powerpack ... but an extended battery is just so convenient.
will have to think hard about this one!
i can use all that empty space to store like 100 micro SD cards to take my entire DVD collection + my entire Audio albums collection LOL
or simply store an extra 1500mAh battery inside as a Spare!
I am now a sad panda.... $99!
http://www.mugenpoweronline.com/product_info.php?products_id=790
still debating... imagine all he things I could hide... I could store my entire sdhc collection with that....
i love how they always do their best to hide the "thickness" - it's like we're all obsessed with size zero phones when in reality a size 16 can be fine ;-)

99.00$ and you can have such ugly brick... No, thanks!
$99 is a bit much....
and the thickness doesn't help in the decision better
i got 2 authentic G7 1500mAh battery for only a quater of that price
it's easier to take some extra batteries in your pockets, than carrying a huge thick phone

yeah, this is an excellent idea!
more than enough space to fit in an AAA battery + LED light
this is definitely something that i would get. the thickness would not bother me, as i would only use this when out hiking, and would switch back to the normal battery/back at other times.
$99 is a bit much though. i think i would hang on for the price to come down a bit.
it would be better it the battery was shaped differently to have a larger surface area once it gets past the plastic surround where the battery sits in the phone. that would allow the same 3000+, but should shave a good few millimetres off the thickness.
lol i wish they went with something slimmer, something around the same thickness of the bump at the back. even if it can only accomodate 2000 to 2500 mah
Makes it look like a brick. Add a high wing spoiler with gold Mugen badging then we're taking.
Hey guys,..well Ive got the Cameron Sino 3000mah battery, thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=789679
But just found out there also now a 3500mah battery available..so I couldnt help myself and gave it a go.Just bought yesterday so will take a week or so to arrive.
This one as with the other high capacity batteries also comes with a custom back cover..but instead of the all fat ones like the Cameron Sino one the top bit where the speaker and camera are is still slimmer..only the bulge where the battery is is fatter...personally I think that doesnt look as good as all fat cover (not as natural..looks more like an add on) but I guess with this way there's no black edges on the corner of photo's like some people are reporting with the all fat ones.
Anyway..there's a few sellers on ebay selling them but this is the cheapest I found:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3500M-EXTEND...092212?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a0b1d3df4
Ha ha...I see its now USD $13 posted..yesterday when I clicked by now it was only USD $10.99
For me about AUD $11.48..(since current exchange rate is great now the time for us Aussies to buy from the U.S )
I bought it on Ebay for 11 Euro.
Looks good for long trips

Damn,he's now dropped the price again. This time down to USD $10.15! Thats even cheaper than what I paid..come on guys...gotta try it for that price..
I have already got the Cameron Sino 3000mah battery, but at 6.61GBP i thought i might as well order this one. Might well be a load of crap and might not even arrive, but its worth a go
Exactly.
I got the 3000mah Cameron Sino one too but had to try this one for that price.
Plus, dont forget, the back cover is a little different. Only the bottom section is fat,the top, where the camera and speaker are remains thinner so anyone who had complaints of the Cameron Sino all fat back cover making black edges around photos and the speaker a little muffled shouldnt complain here.
(Despite looking a little worse though I think)
Does anyone know how long this battery can hold a charge for?
would it be about 2.2xs longer?
Does anyone know a case that fits this? Preferably one that stays permanently on like those silicon ones?
What i don't get is that all of the extended batteries are so BIG..
Why not make a battery that is about 2 milimeter thicker and a case that only is bigger above the battery compartment..
In other words if you extend the 2/3 mm high hump on the regular cover about 1.5 inch on the SGS, you would have more room to put in a little bigger (2200mah) battery and you would still have a nice looking phone..
I would also like to know if theres any cases available for this size format. And its so weird how the capacity is ~2x more, but the size is 4x more lol.
My god, grrrr more batteries to buy! I'm starting to have way too many batteries. But its sooo cheap!!

Hmm.. A li-ion Polymore batter could be moulded to almost any shape and hold just a tad lower amps.. But they tend to be hell expensive compared to brick size li-ions that we rock. Iphones use li-ion polymore batts. But yeh, What i'm saying is taht we COULD get a decent size and shape but it would prob cost 2-3x more. I would love a batt thats say 2mm thick and cover whole back of the device which would maybe give it about 2500mah or more.

Gee,I see the prices have increased. When I bought mine you could get them for under USD$11 posted. As I did.
I have 3500mAh baterry now. It can joice my phone for a week, but it is kinda heavy and ugly, so I am using it only if I have to leave town for a weekend. It can survive even hard usage, playing games, and such. Took it from eBay.
I got mine delivered today. Charging as we speak. I ran across a site that exposes fake batteries and worry if this 3500mah battery is really just a big 2000mah battery now. Heres the site. What I noticed is that these ultra expensive Mugen batteries are so lowly rated. It seems that OEM batteries are best but they don't have a 3000mah battery! Hmmmmmmm

It's universal, USB power is ~5V. All batteries in all DHDs say 3.7v remember that all this extra battery is doing is providing power via USB, therefore it needs to be ~5V.
Correct me if I'm wrong anybody.

Doesn't seem any thicker than with a Case Mate Pop case. I have one so I'm sure I can live with this.
Sent via 1s and 0s through time and space using my Defy.
It needs to be 5V to appear as a charger to the Desire HD. But I see several issues with this:
-The Desire HD will be in constant charge mode until the external battery discharges. Only then the internal battery will start to be used.
It's not good to use a device while charging, this reduces the battery life, so this case will reduce the internal battery life.
-Being 5V means that the case internal 3.7V must be pumped to 5V and then reduces again to 4.2 to charge the battery. Pumps and regulators usually have a 80% efficiency, so 1500 x 0.8 x 0.8 = 960. Expect a battery improvement equivalent to 960 mA, not to 1500mA.
Still it's a great accesory for some situations where you spect to have a great consumption, like hicking with GPS, 3G use while moving, etc. And when the external battery is discharged you can remove the case and have the device full charged with its original size.
You can also turn the case off so it won't charge your phone. Then it doesn't charge the phone constantly and the internal battery life won't reduce that much.
Thanks for that picture It does look a bit thicker, but if nothing else its nice to have with you for weekend trips etc when you know you cant charge.
Does it work like a charger in the way that you can turn it off untill your internal battery is almost depleted, then switch it on and charge up the internal one (if you leave the phone idle?) or does it not really charge the internal one, just keep the phone alive on the extra battery?
Anyone tried this yet or has ordered one already? I'm really interested in this, but since I'm only 16-years, I don't have the money to try something out with a chance of not being worth it .
This too thick for my tastes, i like my dhd thin.

It's a fascinating idea, but - converting inches to cm - that is about 0.8cm more, for a phone that is just about 1cm deep. In fact, the manufacturers do mention 0.8cm as a generic add-on. That's a lot of bulk...
For all-day GPS-intensive stuff I take along a 5000mah power pack that does the job nicely, which you just unplug if you need to make calls etc. Back in the bag, and connect it back up
Though I'm sure this powerskin will meet the needs of some people out there.

Other non-brand batteries that claim 4000 mah, maybe not even have 2000 mah.

You take any cover for i9103, better if it is a hard one.
The protective covers are bigger then the phone, because they are put over the phone, so if you remove the original phone cover and put a protective cover, you can use the bigger battery.

I can find only covers for sgs2 ???
There is a "quality version" of this mega battery from Mugen, it has very good reviews but it is expensive, 80$ ... Another brand with very good feedbacks is Anker, this one isn't expensive, they have a 1900mAh model very cheap and better than the original one.
I am wondering how is it possible that we hadn't advanced a single step in batteries tech for quite some time... The only choice to increase mAh is making it bigger? There isn't any way of installing a different and more eficient type?
I read frequently about this and that progress achieved in labs, but in the market there's nothing new.
I know that we'll not get nano carbon tubules any time soon but, for example, Toshiba announced some time ago some kind of methanol cells that will last weeks, this is not so NASA related technology... Maybe there are some kind of interests from the big companies buy I dont imagine what and why?

Depends on which battery you bought; I'm guessing it was an aftermarket one - there are lots of 'em flying around only some of them are better than the stock one.
Don't just believe the mah they state on the battery.
i'd check this thread, a lot of good stuff written on buying high mAH batteries of places like ebay.
Thank you for this post
There are some people who have had unpleasant surprises when changing battery
I was wondering about batteries made in China.
I will focus on a battery where there will be a good return, like your 1800 mah stock ;-)
Get the samsung galaxy S2 Epic 4g touch battery. 1800mah and fits perfectly.

I have a chinese battery (otb original) and, when it's some hours power the phone with that battery, is like if I'm making long press on home key, and constantly jump the window with last open applications. As if it were a charged capacitor...
Many of the batteries you can find on ebay etc are fake. The mAH is just a sticker and easily printed
A fairly good/simple way to test is to weigh the batteries. If the new battery is lighter, it almost definitely is fake.
Another way is to peel off the sticker. Usually the manufacturer will print the actual capacity on the aluminium thing under the sticker (I peeled off the sticker of a 2.99 battery that was '1500' mAH - said it was 1000 underneath).
Is this too good to be real? I think they have less capacity. Anyone bought 1800mAh batteries from ebay that really are 1.8Ah? It would be nice if the saler ship worldwide.
I am looking to buy an extra battery, the current one holds about 8-12h of (heavy?) usage, Wi-Fi always ON, 3G/2G depending on the signal, most of the time full brightness, 20min-2h games or movies, 20min browsing the web and a few calls, at most 20min and frequently looking at the clock.
I bought an anker 1800 from amazon, as far as I can tell it's genuine

You have no this problem with the original battery (if you have keep it)?
Using anker 1800 mAh for the past week.. cheap, works perfectly (untill now) and ads a few battery hours

I just changed roms to one of the MIUI ones and my battery life has gone through the roof. What had been a 16hour charge (at most) on Darky's4.2 is now 28-30hour easily. Definitely something to look at, even ignoring the improved feature sets.

like i can see the 'Anker' have good feedback ;-)
may be it will be my choice !
I bought Muggen 3200 battery and have very good feedback for last 12 months
It is bigger, more heavy and shipped with special back case
but automy is perfect with it !
From what i've read mugen are very credible for extended batteries, as are momax. Momax make a 1800mAH (to my best memory) which is the same size as the normal, or the 2700mAH battery which is a little thicker, but apparently gives a very good battery life
I`m using PolarCell 1800mAh and I`m very happy with staying power.
