heating with T-mobile compact IV - General Topics

Hi all,
I've just upgraded to T-mobile MDA Compact IV known as HTC Diamond series. When charging; connecting to PC or internet it becomes too hot. That is much hotter in compare to vario. Is anyone having the same problem as mine?
Cheers

I think this is not uncommon
Yes I have the Orange version and I have noticed the same thing. I also have a HTC Touch Dual and this also runs hot. Not sure why this happens but it's a shame that all that energy is getting wasted as heat energy instead of power for the phone!!!

Update the radio?

I use a Hermes device, but my boss recently got a Treo750 for her work phone. The problem is her signal quality is really horrible. My 8525 will always have a stronger signal sitting beside each other. When I updated my radio to version 1.40 it got much better. So is there a way to update the radio on the Treo, or even an updated ROM other than the factory one, that might give her better signal quality, and make it even usable? As it is now, it's not very useable at all.
Thanks!

Really? I had an 8525 and returned it for the Treo 750 and I feel that I get much better RF / Signal on the Treo.

Yup, sitting here right now and my 8525 has 4 bars, the 750 keeps going between 1 and 2 bars....
She can't even use it it's so horrible at her house.
EDIT: I just did a speed test on them both. 8525 hits 220Kpbs while the 750 only had 63Kbps
I'm also wondering if there will be any Radio updates any time soon.
I have the same reception like I've had with the HTC Prophet when I first bought it. I know the battery consumpion is a little higher but it's worth it!

ATT Edge Data Speed

Just like many others, I am a US ATT user with a Euro version --- so I am not getting 3G but....
My real problem is not just putting up with the lack of 3G. I got my TyTNII Kaiser back out today and started toying with what I suspected. In side by side comparisons the Edge data speed (thus Opera, OperaMini, etc etc) was 20 - 40% slower on the HTC Touch Pro compared with the TyTNII. I think it seems to me that it relates to radio differences (or maybe antenna). Since having the Touch Pro for several weeks I noticed that I dropped calls fairly regularly and I think the decreased receprtion in general is effecting my data speed.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, I wonder if all our probelms will be solved even if the guys figure out out to "turn on" 3G for us

If it is real 20-40% then considered yourself are lucky. According to my benchmark via speedtest.net on Tilt, EGDE is about 60 - 140Kbps, meanwhile H is 700 - 1.4 Mbps. Hence, it must be 1,000% slower
Wait 'til the Fuze come out to see if it might availbale.
Not exactly what I meant -- I mean that if I force my TyTNII to Edge only (NO 3G) it still out performs the HTC Touch Pro
..... I believe it may be that it's reception is worse even at the same place ? worse radio ? worse antenna ???
That's odd, and quite troubling... Your EDGE speeds should be identical with both phones in the same location. Might it be that the Diamond just takes longer to render the web page, and the connection speed isn't actually slower? Try going to speedtest.net on both devices and see how they stack up against each other.
I actually ran www.dslreports.com mobile speed test form the Internet Explorer (PIE) on both devices. The numbers proved that the Edge (non 3G) speed was definitely less on the Touch Pro vs the Kaiser, which was obvious with just daily use ...
I am really surprised that no one else has noticed this ???
If I add this to the "fear" that we may not get 3G it's just really is disappointing . I've actually carried the Kaiser the last several days to see if I could go back to it after carrying the Touch Pro for several weeks - the speed issue ssure has made it easier.

[Q] Bad Desire HD signal / call quality

I just bought a new HTC Desire HD, which I haven't rooted and is running the latest version of HTC Sense for Android 2.2.
my problem is that even though I am sitting still and my phone hasn't moved for an hour or more, and it says it has full reception, when my G/F tries to call me, half the time she gets through voicemail as if my phone was out of reception. When she does get through she can hardly hear me like I'm in a really low reception area.
I have also noticed it having worse reception than my HTC Magic used to in the same areas (on the same network) although I admit my observation method hasn't been at all scientific.
Has anyone else experienced this with the Desire HD? Is there anything I can try to improve the situation?
Thanks,
Robin.

[Q] battery gets hot even in normal use

Hey folks,
I habe a small question. Ive bought a htc 7 pro yesterday and i noticed that my phone gets Hot, even when i only surf a Little Bit in the Internet or if i leave IT in standby.
I can feel it through my back Cover and im not to Sure if its normal.
I hope you can give me advice wether to Return the phone or leave it as it is.
Greetings Tekkpriest.
PS. Please be gentle about this written english i havemt configured the grammar and stuff yet
are u using the cellular connection or WiFi? or are u in a poor signal area? I find that my arrive does this when I use the cellular connection, its because the cell towers for my área are still weak so the phone has to work harder to hold the signal which causes the heat generation, it also feels hot because the cover is metal and metal conducts heat.
I've noticed that my battery can get hot sometimes too, but normally only after playing games for a while.
I noticed my battery gets really hot too sometimes. It was so hot I had to put it down.
I've had windows phones since the wizard and none have gotten this hot though my tp1 would get almost as hot if I was tethering (downloading) and running multiple things.
