Persistent Unread Message Notice After Vogue RUU - General Topics

Can any one point me to the registry location or procedure to eradicate a phantom email account and message count indicator on the Today front panel item messaging?
I've tried to manipulate these keys to no avail:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages:Last Received Account
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\other:Account Name
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\TotalEmail\Unread:Count
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\OtherEmail\Unread:Count
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\OtherEmail\Unread:Text
No matter how I change/edit or delete these keys or values, the phone soft reboots with the same phantom (defunct) email account showing 1 unread message. The account is not pickable in the email accounts list, but it is identifiable as having previously existed by virture of the fact that I can't create a new email account with the same name.
This happened after I flashed the RUU_PPST_Vogue_SPRINT_WWE_3.03.651.2_Radio_3.42.30_AM_NV_2.04_Ship for the HTC Touch (Vogue).
Any ideas?

Email Count Problem Please Help

Hi,
I am a long time lurker (super lurker) and I am pretty good with my phone. But somewhere along the line I broke a registry entry or something. Now on my Today screen where it shows my mail count it is stuck on one. It is the same thing if I use phonealarm, htc home, htc plus, or even spb mobile's now screen. That is why I believe it is a registry problem.
My phone: HTC Vogue (Touch) for Sprint
The only mail box I have is one I have synced up with a Mail2Web account. There are no sub folders and it is only the Inbox.
I have delete the connection and re-created it to no avail.
I am trying to avoid a hard-reset so if anybody can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
P.S. It shows as '1' regardless of if I have 4 unread or 0 unread. I still get the correct notification on the top bar (next to start button) if I have unread mail.

Contacts problem !!!

i recently went into the contacts list on my xda orbit 2
only to find it was only showing just 2 contacts which were listed on my sim card,
i cannot see any of my outlook contacts at all ?
if i wish to phone anyone who was on my contacts list,
i have to find MMS from this person and dial from there,
contact is showing correctly as sender of sms as per listing in contacts
except i cannot view the list showing 'ALL' contacts
any help appreciated folks
-thanks
Dont you have a filter in the contacts view?
hi,
my orbits filter settings are set to exactly the same as my mrs's orbit2
her contacts list is a-o-k
sms text messages recieved prior to this problem ALL show senders name as it was listed in contacts & also the number as was provided when i created the contact
ALA - orbit seems to be using the original contacts list to provide sender details for text messages recieved prior to error happening,
yet.....
will NOT allow me to access the contacts details etc,
anyone got any input / ideas etc, as im well n truely stuck without these contacts
same troubles
I have also found that on regular occasions that my Orbit 2 looses all the ring tones and name tags tied to contacts.. I can reset them all and within a few weeks they go back to default... Gets most annoying when you try to set tones to know who is calling..
AFAIK that's a Registry Error.
It's a common thing in MS Windows (including Windows Mobile) to have registry errors.
Only 2 things to solve this kind of problem:
Restore from the latest backup
Hard Reset

Q: Unread email notification stuck in TF3D

I have a Sprint Touch Pro and the new email notification is stuck in TF3D. It was working fine for a few days, but now it always says I have 1 unread email. I am not syncing email with activesync, just using IMAP gmail. I removed my gmail account and did a soft reset... it still shows 1 unread email. It's driving me nuts! If I actually have 1 unread email in gmail, it shows I have 2. If i have 0 unread emails, it shows I have 1. Where the heck is this setting stored? Something is obviously stuck but I can't find it. Thanks in advance.
I seem to be having this problem myself, but with the voicemail notification.
Keeps sayins I have 1 new voicemail, but when i check it, i don't have anything there.
bump. I'm sure others will experience this. 2 friends at work have the same thing happening to them as well. Anyone have any ideas?
Try clicking on All Messages... in the mobile outlook window check all your accounts (sent, inbox, drafts, etc.) and make sure there is no unread mails. I had this happen to me after I setup a new account. There is a new default mail that is created when you create a new account that I had missed.
If you still can't find it... try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435090&highlight=email+unread

Having the same problem with "1 New Voicemail" in TF3D and the little icon in status bar I select dismiss voicemail notification but it stays there.
: Edit Myculito are you using Phone Alarm by any chance?
I just "tap and held" on the notification on PhoneAlarm and said "Reset Count" and it seems to be gone now,
Jules
Just wanted to post my fix.
I do not have the issue with voicemail, only the new email notifications.
The steps that alexk1f described worked like a charm... just forgot to update my thread that it was solved. Thanks alexk1f!

Jules, I'm not using PhoneAlarm.
I fixed the stuck Voicemail issue. I made a call, and left 2 new voicemails to make sure that there were at least messages there.
I then checked my voicemail from the phone, and all is good now.
There is a cab to fix this. Search through the English ROMeOS thread in the ROM development forum
So the fix was for vmail but not messaging. What it looks like is that TF3D has old text messages wedged in cached somewhere - I had two text messages that kept showing up despite deletes. They finally stopped getting delivered and the inbox is clean but the image and notification persists.
Try SKTools and clear the notification queue.
I have this issue too on my Touch HD
I have cleared duplicate notifications in the queue, but I am unsure what else to clear, and the 1 mail notification is still there.
Any other ideas?
OK fixed, it seems as though that damn ghost email had been created in two places, not just in my email inbox, but also in the activesync one, which I hadn't even set-up.
Probably worth going through every single folder in messaging even if you think you know better

Try this when you go to email tab select inbox and see if you have any email in one of your inboxs I had the same problem and when i went to inbox i found an email that wasnt being accessed from the tab.
Hope it works for you
Try this
fixunreadcount:
http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=fixunreadcount.exe&meta=
seems if you go accounts> then hit the account that its reporting on it will clear it. Works for me anyway. RSS hub does this also... well Dont try to read while downloading i think it happens when i retreive attachments.

Android issues with unknown number, calendar recurrence, contact sync

I just graduated from a Blackberry to the HTC Incredible. After a few days of use and way too much forum browsing, I still have a few issues that I cannot resolve. Please help if you know of any solutions!
1. PHONE: If I dial one of my local contacts and do not include the area code, the call log labels the call as UNKNOWN. This is somewhat frustrating as every phone that I've ever owned was sophisticated enough to known that I'm dialing a known contact even if the area code is not included.
2. CONTACT SYNC: I synced my Blackberry with Outlook. I had no problem getting all of my contacts into the Incredible, but now I want to sync them with Google Contacts and ditch Outlook. I cannot change the PC Sync label on each contact in my phone though, and I'm not even sure if it has anything to do with it.
3. CALENDAR RECURRENCE: I often need to enter meetings to repeat on multiple days of the week. For instance, I may have a review meeting every Tuesday and Thursday. Is there a calendar app that has the capability of recurrence in this manner? I know this is a popular problem, but I have been unsuccessful in finding a solution. It seems insane to have to enter these types of recurrences through Google Calendar to have them sync with the phone properly.
4. MAIL: If I setup my "native" or default google account in the HTC mail app, it syncs with IMAP to get all of the existing mail. HOWEVER, it will not show any new mail that comes in. I have unchecked the sync with the Gmail App ( I cannot remove the account from the Gmail App), but no matter what I do, I cannot get new mail in HTC Mail. Each time I try removing the account from HTC and setting it up again, the new mail shows up, but nothing new from then on.
5. POPUP NOTIFICATIONS: I love the notifications that I get in the status bar for new mail or text messages. Is there anything that I can use to have these notifications popup in a new window on my screen?
Please help! This is an awesome phone, but it just seems that some of the "basics" are missing.
Why didnt you post this in the HTC Incredible subforums? I doubt you will get an answer in here.

[Q] Please help with unexpected SMS behavior

Hi. I'm using with my N5 with t-mo in the US. I have a rule in Outlook (on my PC) that sends an SMS to my phone in the event that I get an email from a specific individual. So, the message is sent to [email protected]. This message arrives to my phone as an SMS.
With my prior phone (which was using a CM-based 4.2.2 ROM) this message would appear in my SMS client (Slide Messaging Pro; but prior to that was Handcent) identified by the email address, which would then map correctly into Contacts and bring up the correct contact picture (me).
With my N5 running KitKat, the message shows up as from a four digit code ( e.g., 3823, which varies from message to message), and the SMS client can't map it into Contacts to get the picture. Instead, the first part of the message is my email address.
This is hardly mission-critical, but I am wondering if there is some way to strip out the 4 digit code so that the SMS maps to Contacts correctly? I'm currently rooted but using stock recovery, if that matters.
