I bought a Treo 750 from AT&T. I moved to Argentina, and unlocked the phone for any SIM. I got a Prepaid CTI Movil SIM (which is now Claro) and the Claro card to charge it.
I was able to activate the sim with the phone, but am unable to charge my card to it.
So I am wondering if my AT&T WM6 ROM is not allowing me to perform calling from the phone. Is it a different radio than the one AT&T uses?
Maybe this thread should be in Catellano, but my Spanish is very shaky.
Anyone else having an issue with a phone purchased in the US, but being used with CTI Movil in Argentina?
This is the error I get: "El servicio de prepago no se encuentra disponible" which translates to: "Prepaid service is not available."
I've searched for a while and found nothing and so decided to ask for help. Please.

call *611. If you can talk their automated system, then it shouldn't be a problem with the phone.
I can get to the fast speaking woman via *611, but I can't understand much.
Can you help me navigate through the menu to the place to enter my prepaid card number? When I try entering my number through the Mi CTI Movil menu, it sends the text message then comes back with the same error.
"El servicio de prepago no se encuentra disponible"
Any help would really be appreciated.
Issue resolved.
I don't know what the problem was, but I'm guessing it takes the network about 24 hours for your number and SIM to be registered so money can be added to the account. I just kept trying every 30 minutes or so and then one time it worked.
I hope this helps someone.

I have a MDA with -T---mobile, and want to use with Movistar, I have Unlock with xdadev_all_unlock-v1.3, all seem ok, I don´t know if I need to do some configuration I don´t know what can to do
What do you want to configure? MMS, WAP/GPRS settings? Does it now work with Movistar since you were able to unlock it?
hello,
I also used that program to use MDA compact (t-mobile) with AMENA in Madrid, but i dont know what you need to configure GPRS and all that. i imagine on movistar homepage you can get that info. does the phone itself (not mms, gprs etc) work ok on movistar? it should work fine - the phone will be completely unlocked after using that unlock program.
un saludo,
-Neil.
you must see this spanish web, and see the solution

Dear all:
This is all new stuff to me...so please, bear with me.
Prior to last week I had a Moto Q9h from Claro PR for which I’m subscribed to their data plan. Most of the time (92% or more) that I had phone it was using their 3G network with no problems. Once in a while I got the “E”.
About a week ago or so I bought from (e-bay USA) a T-Mobile HTC Touch Pro 2 (T-Mobile_Rhodium) with the following OS and firmware versions:
Windows Mobile 6.5 (Build 21881.50.84)
ROM ver: 1.91.531.4 (74508) WWE
ROM date: 12/15/09
Radio ver.: 4.49.25.57
Protocol ver: 61.44tc.25.32AU
Once I got the phone, I unlocked it and I’m using my Claro SIM card however I’m not able to access Claro’s 3G network only Edge (E). After looking around on the net I found Claro’s PR APN names and ports. I added them onto the phone but it seems that I’m missing something cause I still can’t access Claro’s 3G network.
I have changed the phone settings to use Auto Network type and Band selection and I can connect using EDGE. If I forced the settings to use GSM/EDGE no problem, I can connect. If I forced the settings to use WCDMA I can’t connect at all.
Is there anything else I’m missing or overlooking to get the 3G configuration working on the phone?
Do I need to update the ROM or Radio? And if so, to which version?
Any ideas, advice, suggestions...
thanks in advance for your time and contributions.
warm regards...
Same problem here on the Claro network Dominican I have a edge connection but no 3g on my desire and my milestone too, but my chip work with blackberry on 3g.
sorry for my bad English please help!!!
The reason T Mobile phones have problems with Claro in Puerto Rico, is because T Mobile broadcasts their 3G at 1700Mhz, and Claro does at 1800Mhz, like AT&T. T Mobile phones cant receive the 1800Mhz signal, so you will never be able to get 3G on T Mobile phones, unless you use T Mobile. You must get the T Mobile phones, as unbranded international phones, to be able to get 3G with Claro and AT&T.
Motorola Defy with Claro PR
I just installed Gingerbread to my Motorola Defy but have no signal...My provider is Claro PR; if i choose the frequence band from TMobile im able to get signal just to make calls...Dont even show "E" for Edge...
What frequence should i use? Is it possible to get 3G with Claro PR?
Thanks...

Did you try putting the Claro APN so it can connect to the network?
Go to Settings > Wireless > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Press your menu button and choose New APN:
Name: Claro
APN: internet.claropr.com
Press menu again and choose save.
Good Luck
Intentastes ponerle el APN de Claro para que se pueda conectar a la red de Claro?
Ve a Ajustes > Conexiones Inalambricas > Redes Moviles > Nombres de Puntos de accesso
Oprimes menu y seleccionas Nuevo APN
Nombre: Claro
APN: internet.claropr.com
Oprimes Menu y seleccionas Guardar
Buena Suerte

Over a year later.. This worked for me using a Claro PR SIM on a still going strong Vibrant that I had laying around and got the SIM unlock code straight from T-Mo. 1.5 y/o Claro Galaxy SII apparently crapped out on me, lets see what the shop says. Pretty stable 3G signal even, if available.
THANKS!
Hi guys,
I have 2 x Nexus S SIM free mobiles which I bought from Car Phone Warehouse in the UK, which we are using now in Spain.
Both handsets have SIM's for the Simyo network (Which is basically Orange's network).
Even though both handsets are unlocked to all networks, I constantly have the roaming icon showing, and I have to enable roaming and data roaming to have coverage.
Now I know beyond any doubt the handsets are NOT roaming.
Has anyone encountered this bug in the Nexus S please, it is really annoying.
Regards
not a bug, simyo has its own network code, which is different from orange's. Therefore, when you use orange's network, it's roaming. Simyo and orange have a roaming agreement, just like yoigo and movistar.
For now, you'll have to enable data roaming for data to work. (there was a discussion somewhere about not labeling it roaming when the country code is the same, which is the case for most of MVNOs)

Thanks for that info. My misses is saying she tried a mates Orange SIM and that it did not show roaming.
However, we also both had Nexus One's, which we purchased here in Spain. Did not get the roaming icon when using the Simyo cards on those...
It is bloody annoying, as we also loose connectivity sometimes and keep having to re-enter the passwords to our google accounts :-\

Ah, you can fix that!
simyo uses dual sim cards (sims with 2 numbers), to make their roaming agreements easier to manage internationally. When you go abroad, it switches from the spanish number to a netherlands one, i believe (though you don't notice it), just like if you changed the sim card.
The thing is, the switch is made when the sim card detects no service for a while. Problem is, that can happen when you lose signal for a while (underground parking, metro, etc...) And what happens when you change your sim card on an android device? yes, you lose google login.
Solution is to lock the sim card to use the spanish number always. You need a phone with STK app (sim menus), and you need to go to Servicio Simyo -> servicio roaming -> seleccion de red -> Seleccion manual -> Nacional. All nokias can access this menu, for example, but stock nexus doesn't have a stk app.
After changing that, hopefully you won't see the login error again. And about the nexus one: it must use a slightly different method to determine roaming, something I don't really know too well.
Woo, OK thank you for the info. Never knew about the dual number thing. Interesting...
This STK stuff, you know of any app for Android mate?
Regards
Hi, just to confirm, I did manage to fix the SIM issue, I borrowed a mates Nokia 1200 and as you said, I entered the STK menu and switch it to Nacional.
MANY THANKS!!
Hello people, I'm trying to use a Claro sim card on my Personal phone (both carriers are argentinian), but can't get it to work.
The Claro card works on other phones. Mi xt925 is running CM 10.1.3 and the correct baseband (100700.220.62.33p).
It even showed me the gsm menu from Claro but no option worked, and still have no signal and get "Network not available" error.
I get something about the sim can be registered in Claro Argentina (as I said, the sim is working with no problem on other phones) when tryng to choose network.
I already have and unlock code, and don't have another sim (from a different carrier) to test it.
Is there anyway to force the phone to ask for the code?
EDIT: In case someones gets to this post, I fixed it going back to stock rom by using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38190729.
I put my sim card in and automatically asked me for the code.
Hi all. This is my first post so I don't know if it's in the correct place or not.
The thing is' I live in Cuba. Mobile network here is limited to 2G and 3G on 900Mhz with a sole provider, ETECSA. I got a sprint's HTC One A9 unlocked from my cousin in USA. Voice and SMS work fine but data is a no go no matter what I do. Android UI shows disconnected while *#*#4636#*#* status screen displays connecting all the time. I've setup manually the apn and tried every option as well (setting it as default, internet, supl), setting username as default. Nothing works. I noticed I can't change the bearer for the apn settings. Any fix or solution, ideas?. I can provide diagnostics data being directed the appropriate way. Also the phone has twrp and is rooted via supersu. Thanks in advance.
PS. Forgot to say. Running Android 7.0.
