Hi guys,
what do people think between the hermes or the diamond?
any major differences in terms of capabilities?
i know the hermes has flash, expandable memory, keyboard which diamond doesnt. ofcourse diamond looks better hmm......
touch pro isnt out on contract for ages and im due and upgrade next week when the diamond will be out with orange or i could switch to vodafone and get the hermes hmm........
Ah, get the Diamond, you'll be fine. Remember that our Hermes are two generations behind the Diamond. Diamond is thinner, sleeker and has the VGA screen with accelerated graphics. Very nice.
Myself, I'm waiting for the X1. Just my preference.

Guys check out the new i mate ultimate 9502....top notch specs with a VGA screen,GPS,3.2 MP camera,WiFi,Bluetooth,Qwerty keyboard....blah blah....
http://www.gsmarena.com/i_mate_ultimate_9502-2158.php
I think its awesome....anyone else havin second thoughts on buyin the Kaiser??
Yes awesome but the problem is that I-Mate is behind it. Their old website showed wonderful devices (Ultimate Range) coming mid 2007 but I guess it is now end 2007 and still no clue of already announced devices. So far we only see a new website but no devices.
So Yes 9502 a wonderful device but only if it ever gets released and I am a bit skeptical that it ever will. Potentially a TyTn II killer.
yep
the i-mate 9502 or the eten m800 will be my next celly after the tytn II.. i really dislike the non vga screen on the tytn ii (used with the universal). however its fairly quick and little bugs.
from what i can read on the specs the m800 has a slightly better cpu? i dont know if it really is but the mhz is higher at least. ;D
Well the problem is, it doesnt have a dedicated numbers row which causes a bit of a worry for me. In tytn, you cant take a note down when on a phone call because, when i type it only inputs number equivalents and i cant tap the alphabets!
Hope this problem is fixed!
Btw, i have a universal!
yea i think it has all the TYTN II features and then some.....now the only problem is availability as srmz mentioned....also nowhere hav they mentioned wut GPS hardware is used....
I-Mate Ultimate 9200 or HTC P6500 Sirius or not
Are these products the same and next beast?
No. i-Mate & HTC parted company a year or so ago. i-Mate's new products are manufactured by Arima.
it's got the Kaiser in ROM (256v128), VGAvQVGA screen, an LED flash
other than that, it's 10gm heavier, doesn't appear to have GPS, uses the same Qualcomm chipset
it's pretty even steven in my opinion
Arima??
Arima is the guys who produced the O2 flame. Too bad they did not support it with a software upgrade of WM6.
Guys and gals, I’ve just posted a HUGE roundup & quick review of i-mate’s all four new devices to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1967268
2.8" VGA screen? Doesn't that seem a little small? I would rather have a 3.5" VGA any day. I bet they could still make it fairly compact. By the looks of it, that phone is huge anyways. Why not use that space and have a useful screen.
I have had my Trinity now for well over a year and am due an "upgrade" but as far as I can tell there isn't one...
I don't want a slide out keyboard and the touch cruise looks a bit bigger than the Trinity with not much real improvement.
Does anyone have any ideas what HTC have in the pipeline that is a real upgrade?
that would be a resounding "NONE" then!
The HoFo folks discuss TyTN III at http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1334189 . Currently, not much is known.
The MDA Compact IV may be right up your alley.
Well well, look what we have here... provisional specs for the MDA Compact IV (announced today at MWC), which is expected to ship on T-Mobile around May 2008, and is NOT the HTC Polaris!
Feast your eyes on this...
Windows Mobile Professional 6.1
VGA screen
UMTS / HSDPA 3.6MBPs
3MP Autofocus Camera
Wireless LAN
Integrated GPS
4 GB internal flash memory
FM Radio (a MDA Compact trait)

Hello, I'm due an upgrade on Orange very soon, and I'm basically going to go either for a TytnII or a Touch Diamond, but I'm wondering which one is for me.
I've been browsing the Diamond forums a lot recently, and following Tytns progress, and working in a phone shop I've been lucky enough to play with both, albeit briefly.
For me, I'm going to be using data a lot, probably going to want to use Messenger etc.
Whats the QVGA vs VGA argument like? Because I've noticed the Diamonds screen real estate is pretty poor, compared to the Diamond.
I have no reason to use TouchFlo because I'd much rather use SPB Mobile Shell
Whats the cooked ROM situation for Diamond? Mature I am guessing? Processing power vs. Diamond?
I'm just looking for a well thought through comparison, really
Thanks in advance
not even in the same class .... does the tittan have a tv out port??? diamond has one.... so what do u think ... like i said $>not even in the same class<$
what about tytn 3 vs diamond???
Hi guys, recently my elf internal screen cracked, i am wondering whether should i get a diamond or a jade? any comments guys? Thank You
Jade is faster (TouchFlo 2D is faster than Touchflo 3D). But the Diamond has more sex appeal.
depends. I have the Raphael. I chose it over the diamond because of the qwerty keyboard and also because AT&T did some cool stuff w/ the keyboard arrangement and also the PTT button that I remapped into a camera button.
If you do like the qwerty-less phone, the diamond is pretty nice.
or wait a few months and the HTC 09 stuff will arrive!! and great devices are comming!
However i thought diamond has 3D capability whereas jade does not have? Based on performance, lets not talk about touchflo 3D or 2D, which device wins? ?Haha, i cannot wait to get a new HTC device, cannot wait anymore. LOL.
Anyone? lol, which one? XD
I don't know which Diamond you have available, but I can say that I personally chose the Storm over the Diamond, when I was exchanging my Omnia. My first battle was between the Diamond and the Omnia, and I of course chose the Omnia. The Diamond was bulky, and had tons of bad reviews about poor performance. Maybe you can test drive them both.
I currently have a TyTN (Hermes 200) and am thinking about upgrading.
Maybe something used.
My biggest indecision is that I don't know if the next phone should have a slide out keyboard, or not. (Slide-out keyboard is nice, but makes for a thicker device)
I don't do heavy emailing or heavy texting... just the occasional ones.
Any thoughts/advice on which way to go? Maybe recommend a device?
P.S. I don't want an iPhone... I think i'd prefer to tick with an HTC device (WM or even Android)
here's a Touch HD & QWERTY thread discussion...maybe some info there:

Try and check out the ASUS P565. It is not an HTC phone, but something to consider since a brand new unit is about 500 something dollars. Here is a thread discussion with links: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446317
The upcoming Touch Pro2 and Touch Diamond2 look really nice. The former is more like the TyTN, and the latter is more like the TyTN without a keyboard. They're both pretty much the same, except the Diamond2 has a better camera and no keyboard. They will both ship with 6.1, but will be upgradable to WM6.5.
Dave
I will definitely replace my Hermes with the touch pro 2, at least if my battery survives that long.
One more for touch pro 2!!
Neither the Pro 2 or Diamond 2 can replace the Hermes adequately, since they don't have a scroll wheel and D-pad.
So other then the Touch Pro2, there are no other suggestions?
What are the thoughts on the Touch Pro? how is it compared to the tytn? Much faster?
yes, the touch pro (and se xperia X1, almost the same hardware, different looks) are a *LOT* faster then the TyTN, their 2 years newer, so that's expected offc
The major diff is the amount of memory, the tytn always rns of of memory at about any task. Other then that, the cpu on the tp is a lot fatser, it has a bigger VGA screen, ans a lot of nice stuff that you could or couldn't care about (tv-out, g-sensor etc.).
If you want a replacement for the tytn *now* get a touch pro or an X1 (personal choice), but if you can wait another 3-4 months (in europe at least) then the touch pro 2 would seem to be the best choice.
