IE locking up the phone... - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

No idea why, but my GF and I have the same Tilt. I used the same unlock and flash process for both phones. Was using one of Dutys roms, and now moved on to LV6 V9, and hers still locks up when IE opens... Mine runs fine.
ANy thoughts? I tried looking around for diffrent radios, but cant find a list anywhere...

And you're certain IE temp/cache files are not pointed to storage card?

Switch to opera 9.5. The latest version is somewhere here in the forum. IE sucks. Wait a minute! here you go! A better browser by far.

I'd bet anything that post #2 is correct and you have your IE cache moved to the SD card which will cause your device to lock up.
Please don't start these kind of threads here. This is the Rom DEVELOPMENT thread, and as such issues such as IE locking up the phone should not be posted as new threads. This answer should have turned up that moving the cache to the SD card causes all knids of evil with IE. So in the future please obey the forum rules and SEARCH, read, and post in a preexisting thread first.

Im all for following the rules, but the search on the forum is garbage... I dont know how that guy found the link so fast for radios... but I cant make use of the search here to save my life... I did a earch for radios... and unless he went digging through pages, a quitck new pst is MUCH faster...
Thanks for all the help, and I wil ltry to move the IE stuff back to the internal flash... first ive heard of that...
(I cant be the only one that has a hard time finding stuff on these boards....)

Not really a good excuse. Try the search in my sig if you need something better. You would have found this too if you had looked around first.

And having to use an alternate search just to find things isn't odd to anyone here?
How was I supposed to know that the search sucked, and I needed to search for an alternate search so I could search for a solution to my issuie so the trolls don't hell at me?
Just saying the whole thing is kinda broken... why not just code your search method int the system?

I'm not sure who you're calling a troll? Everyone who magically found the answer by looking has spent time learning how to structure their query correctly. It takes time ot learn how to narrow down what you're looking for. None of the people giving you advice didn't have to take the same time it would require of you to learn. If you don't like the rules, you don't have to use the site. Please just be respectful to the thousands of people who do, and follow the rules.

search is good.................. yup

Screen going black whenever changing radios?

I'm trying to unlock 2 of my kaisers and it seems as though whenever I try to change the radios my screen goes black right after it reboots and won't let me do anything. Maybe I'm just being brain dead and forgetting to do something, but I unlocked my other Kaiser 2 days ago and I'm 99% sure I'm doing the same thing I've beendoing.

You still should be posting there, because even if this thread isn't redundant and you find an answer in this thread, some other person will come along and have a very hard time finding this thread amongst all the other threads that are/were redundant.
There are HUNDREDS of threads that mention radio issues and the relevancy of the thread title not matching the contents of sim unlocking issues will definitely make it hard to find.

I tried posting there when I didn't find an answer I had figured might as well make a post on the main boards, my apologies either way. Just frustrated that 2 poeple can't use there cell phones ATM because I'm an idiot.
Just flash any 6.1 rom it will fix it. once your done with that just run step 2 and 3 and you'll be set.
this happened to me too. Try putting on your original radio, that will fix it. Or upgrade to a 6.1 ROM, and put on a 6.1 radio. Its just radio that will not work with your ROM, they all don't work with each other.

List of ROMs?

Is there a list of ROMs anywhere or can could people tell me what is available? I have spent hours and hours searching the Internet, searching this forum and I have only come up with a few and I know there has to be more than what I am finding.
The main reason I want different ROM is because I don't want my Tilt to lock up with my bluetooth anymore and hopefully my sound won't disappear making me reboot to get it back. Everything else is a bonus.
So any help is appreciated before I drive myself more insane than I already am.
(and no, I don't want to know which one is the best, I will figure that out on my own )
I really doubt you've searched, because there was a recent thread attempt to list them, and you'd have known about our WIKI.
We do not give out handouts. Put in the EFFORT.
Your phone shouldn't be locking up often with the stock ROM. If it is, there's probably something wrong with it or your bluetooth device or some crummy software you've got on it.

Put in the effort? I have been doing this for 3 days now and have been up until 2:00 in the morning trying to do all of this and I get a message like this? I have never had someone be like that to me on a forum. Unbelievable. Nothing like being helpful.
Please do me a favor and close this, I would rather spend my days searching instead of this crap.
I flash roms more often then a Trench-coat wearing man in a70's porno I normally end up on blackstone, PDA ultimate or the vista one all three IMHO are rock soild stable and feature packed if you read the wiki which is sticked at the stop of this forum you will learn all you need to learn about unlocking the wiki also contains the links to all the patched and bug fixes as well as a huge number of add-on's
Closed, follow suggestions, read the wiki for Kaiser it has a comprehensive list of avaliable stock & cooked Roms.

Activesync issues... please someone help... I searched!!

OK I have searched and searched... but to no success...
Here is what is happening, after a clean ROM install or a Hard reset I can sync via AS once... but then the next time I try I get a generic saying simply that it could not sync, but with more words (no error codes)
Here is what I have tried...
Hard reset... one sync works.
soft reset... still errors
reflash... one sync works
Deleted profiles after a failed sync... still fails except because I deleted the profile, the only profile it creates not is a guest (not the "hyperdragon) default name.
I also went into the connections>usb-->pc settings and unticked the faster sync option... FAIL!!
Here is the version of the ROM... HyperDragon_IV_IOLITE_WWE_20090204
I am syncing to an exchange server.
Can someone please help??
Is there a fix? Or do I need a different ROM?

Look , I am going to try to be as nice as possible about this. This is going to be the FOURTH thread in a row you are going to get locked, You NEED to read the posting rules to keep from getting BANNED.
This post belongs in the Hyperdragon thread, or at the very least in a " problem connecting to AS " thread.
Ask this question in the right thread and someone there will help you.
You cannot keep starting NEW threads everytime you have a problem with your phone.

have you tried reinstalling activesync on your pc? i would start there, and denco is right, i just looked at all your posts and you DID NOT ask this in the HD thread and that is where you should have asked instead of making a new thread!!!
OHHH I am SORRYYYY I did not realize that this could only be a Hyperdragon issue!
WTF dude...
I put Hyperdragons ROM name in the title, but does that mean the fix is or could only be related to the ROM??
NO
Besides I searched and there were like 319 AS issues reported in various threads, but no solid fix.
Counting my threads, give me a break! I have been a member since 07 and I normally post simple concise questions and usually after I have searched!
What is getting old is moderators responding with BS about Banning when I have asked a legitimate question with specifics and details.
So please if you have the answer and you searched and found it supply me with a link to said post/fix and if and when it works I will eat my words and be sorry... UNTIL then you and the other power trip moderators need to relax and stop running you post numbers up with worthless bit**ing at people for posting in such a way that they get their panties twisted!!
There I also removed Hyperdragons name from the title!!
And please do not give me the BS about this not being a ROM development issue... IT IS!!
There has got to be a fix and that fix will be repairing a ROM issue, hence the reason it is posted here!

abovenbeyond, I am glad you have moved your request to the thread for the ROM you are testing.
With all due respect, however, you really should try to control your attitude. We have not flamed you in this thread, only made respectful points to try to help you get the information you need in a timely and organized manner. The way you are responding to our points really doesn't make us any more inclined to point you in the right direction. Patience is a virtue.
Same issues
I hear you, I think that this is a consistent, if not common problem. I have had exchange syncing working OK for the past 6 months on this device. Never great. It got frustrating so I have been loading other ROM's this week and it seems to be a consistent problem. I went back to the official ATT Rom and it was better, not perfect. i think the problem is really the exchange technology. I think once RIM comes out with their new WM blackberry client, I'll switch over there for messaging. If someone does have an idea of the best ROM for exchange, I will use this one.
You may want to try flashing a forced USB hard spl and see if that works, you may have nuked your USB!

Groovin!! SHHHH!! you can't say that here... because if in fact you have found this to be a common issue across other ROMs you have installed then I would be correct to have posted the question here... but if that is true then there are some very angry "Senior" ppl that might... well what ever.
So anyways... I am not sure I understand what you mean about "nuking my usb?"

Its cool, if you look in the hard spl thread you will see that there are versions of the spl's that are called "forced USB" these are for people having issues with their active sync! I realy do want to help you, I hope you can get this figured out, I would be going nuts too! Hope maby this works for you! If you need to you can PM me!
my issues
have always been related to exchange sync via my data connection, not the usb. I went back to the latest HTC standard English ROM and this has been stable and working for the past 24 hours. I'll look for mod's of this build, I think...

Continuous Startup Problem

Hey guys, I am having a problem. My ATT Tilt is stuck on bootloader and will not load. I have flashed my ROM for the 5th time now and every time I turn off my device, it gets stuck on bootloader. I have used the HTC provided EXE Rom loader in their site. What can I do, please help.
I suppose when you post your question here is because you did read the wiki and the sticky threads about "how to flash", etc.
I suppose if you read those threads, you used the correct combination in radio, SPL, and ROM
So, if you did all those things, now you must only flash another ROM compatible with your SPL and Radio.
If you did not, then read those sticky threads and then try to unbrick your device. Then, try to write here what SPL, radio and ROM, etc. numbers appear on the boot screen so that somebody will tell you about taking the device to the technical service. (One thing I learned: no device gets stop on bootloader if everything inside it is in the correct combination)

You have to have a pretty-much rock-stock ROM for this update to work. You could just install attn1's version of the stock ROM with this update already applied, then properly rooted and packaged for installation:

After installing, the update screen will show that you are up to date.

That is how flash attn1 rom. I think you might have misunderstood. He meant that you could go back to stock stock and apply it. Because if your rooted it will fail to install OR. Apply attn1 rom.

Attn1's ROM is flashed in hboot because it includes a radio. It is the ota update your phone is trying to get, but with root. He also has one in that same thread with sideloading enabled.

i really dont get why it bothers some people so much, they respond to threads saying use the search button, people ask it alot. U dont have to respond to the post to begin with, alot of people do though, and with the same effort used to say use the search button, u could have just as easily answered the question.
Best part is if u dont want to answer it because you think they were to lazy to search it gets buried pretty quick.

its probably because to newer users, its a little intimidating to go thru many posts and threads, and they also know some info could be outdated. Maybe on the site, there should be an official, updated "how to" glossary or wiki.

I'll tell you why....
Because the question was already answered for one thing.
It's also forum rules, and I've seen it mentioned by Mods a million times.
Community moderation...I let people know in the hopes of breaking a habit before it starts: posting a new thread for every single question that crosses their mind, and, eventually, expect to be given answers to everything, getting even more reluctant to do the "work" of finding answers and learning about their phones on their own.
Next thing you know, we're up to our necks in duplicate posts. Then, NOBODY will want to answer ANYTHING, because they have to wade through 4 tons of duplicate crap, and it ain't worth it.
How hard is it to Google "inspire OTA update root" ?

As to the last question: speaking for myself, I am tempted to just ask question, not because I can't effin search, but some of my questions, one has to weed through all manner of material on multiple threads, some pertinent, some not, since February to ascertain "the" answer. This is all well and good and maybe an exercise in disciple, like back in school or something, but maybe some of us just get impatient in an effort to save time. That said, I am fully on board with the forum rules, because da rules are da rules, and this is where one has to come for this sort of stuff :-D.

Oh I agree. Everyone has questions, and everyone has opinions. There are often times wrong/incomplete answers to things, and both yes and no to the same question.
It's not necessarily easy to parse through and distill all of this stuff. But it can be done. I often times run across answers that go both ways, and that can be unsettling, especially if it involves potentially bricking a device if you get it wrong.
It's just a question of analysis, and I concede some people are more comfortable doing it than others. I guess I never expected to be handed all of the answers to basic questions.
I've always preferred searching over posting in asking a question, as it usually always provides the answer *quicker* than waiting for someone to post back an answer to the question.
Not to mention, if it turns out it was a much easier answer to find than first apparent, or that it was one's own oversight responsible for a problem that motivated the question, one can bypass getting antagonized by jerks like me.
I hear ya

I'm not pretending anything. Searching before posting is forum rules, often cited by mods. I happen to feel it's important enough to remind people, and I'm not the only one. It's called community moderation.
No, a lot of stuff does NOT get outdated. Some do, like radio flashing and not needing eng s-off, but others don't, or haven't yet and don't look like they're going to.
For example, rooting remains the same basic process as when it started. One of two methods are available, and likely there won't be any new ground-breaking discoveries, at least for a while. Maybe it will change in the future, but it hasn't yet.
Another example... Until someone makes ATT want to push their otas to rooted devices, the process by which to update one's rooted phone with those OTA updates will remain the same. Etc....
And Google works just fine, better than the built-in search function of many sites.
Saying "I can't search because search sux" is a cop-out, plain and simple.

Umm, no. At least not on the full site. If you look right above the forum frames (up, up a little more, no down, yeah, there, on the right) you'll see the search you should be using. It searches recursively from wherever you are. Forum home? Searches the whole board. Inspire home? Searches the whole Inspire board. Inspire Dev? Yep, just the dev section. It goes clear down to searching within a thread. Hardly sucky.
I have been rooted for about a month now and have flashed several custom roms but am now back at the stock rooted rom desiring the latest at&t ota update. I read earlier in this thread that because I'm already rooted the update won't install. My question is can I just flash the attn1 rom even though I rooted my device using bubby's root method?

It should work fine. All attn1's ROM needs is s-off. Bubby's give you that.
I'm not positive but I think att1 updated rooted stock rom w/sideloading is in the form of pd98img.zip file which u need to put on on your SD card but not in a folder. Then turn off fastboot in settings, power off your phone, then while holding down the vol down button push your power button. The phone should boot into hboot where it will search for the pd98img for a few seconds then ask you to update. Once it's done you can reboot & delete the file off your SD card cause it's around 300 or so mb. Once your all done with that you also might want to get the matching ril file for the new radio that's in the update which you can flash in cwr.
