I admit to being a complete noob to the world of PDA phones. I recently purchaged an unlocked P4300 from someone and I've been playing around with it with pretty much success, until tonight. I think I deleted something I shouldn't have. I'm running Windows Mobile 5 and after cleaning up some memory and whatnot, I can't get the device to sync. It connects, it just won't sync. Synchronization cannot be completed successfully is the error I'm getting and worse than that? I can't seem to install any new third party apps to my device. I have no idea what I've done and would appreciate any help I can get to fix this issue.
You probably deleted your active sync notification. Just unzip and extract the folder from this file. Transfer it to your SD Card and run it from there using File Explorer. This will recreate that notification you deleted.
Just post back the result if you succeed or not. Good luck.

New to this forum and new to the wonderful world of Windows Mobile.
Coming from a palm-world where most things just tend to work, this has been somewhat of a reminder of the early Windows desktop days.
I'm having some issues (One of these issues made me choose this forum, if this was in error, I apologize in advance).
1. Active sync worked once, but never again.
It seems the mp3-files I added (251 of them), makes active sync just time-out in the media stage. I have not found a way to remove media from active sync either to confirm this. I cannot access settings since it times out with the sync. Edit: The media-row in the active-sync window also states that the installation has to be completed first. Which it already has.
2. Media player does not add files to library.
I do the file-search and it finds 251 files on the SD-card, makes a slight paus and finds 4 more files. Then it adds only those 4 files. accessing the storage card in the library and my music only produces an unexpected error. I have not tried to empty and reformat, or a lower file-count just yet. But to me this seems like a bug that not only scans the storage-card but also the device and then only adds what's on the device. What is added is 4 ring-tones.
3. A2DP...
Well, I read the instructions on the two threads dedicated to this, but it does me no good since I find no files in either of them. I am willing to host those files for you if needed by the way. I really want A2DP since I already got the Jabra BT-620s.
4. Not a real important one but, overclocking.
I ran the OMAP_TI_Overclock thingie, but absolutely nothing changes. Still 195 Mhz whatever I do. I find people have fall-backs in a few minutes or after reset, but this is immediate. The utility says it sets the clock and that the current clock has changed, but as soon as I go to the system-info it says 195. And starting the utility again it says it set as 180 (which according to the system obviously equals 195 ).
These are the current obstacles to overcome before I turn to media-control from the headset, and other more daily handling stuff that obviously already works fine (Voice-control, and contacts and stuff)
There was something more, but I forgot. I'll return to that. Now I'm off to the golf course hoping for some good advice to start pouring in...

1. Buy a card-reader. They're cheap and save your nerves as AS 4.1 is EXTREMELY unstable comparing to 3.8 one

4. In the ABOUT info you'kk never see the change as it's not a monitor of CPU but the info contained like plain TXT. as for the program use action-set clock - and then action-exit. If you do load it before you turn Prophet off you'll see the clock is still in there

Yes, I have several. More than I have computers actually, which is a lot!
Not that more helps in this case. I got my S200 Yesterday so I am really only starting out to get things going. This is just my initial small problems. I just find it frustrating that I cannot change what will be synced with Active sync until a sync is successfully completed, which is never. So We'll see how I solve that one...

Ok, I got A2DP working now, Great, and thanks. I didn't realize the files only were visible while logged in , yup real newbie-alert .
And I installed Resco Explorer to do things more easily.
What remains is the problem with my Media library.
I cannot fathom what's going on. It's like this. I have 221 files on the storage card, and the system has 4 on the device itself. It scans both and lists 225 as found, then it takes a good 3 minutes adding files. Then it reports 4 files added. And only the library on my device shows anything (The four ringtones) trying to access the storage card library only results in an error.
Still, I can just click any of the files in the explorer and it plays perfectly (now in glorious wireless stereo!)... So there's nothing wrong with the card and the files. It's just the Library update thingy that fails me.

I solved the Media Library thing.
I started deleting albums and doing new updates, but still no luck even down to one single MP3. So then I remembered something someone said in a thread somewhere about the MSMETADATA folder containing the library, so I simply removed it from the storage card and updated the library again. Voila! Now it works!
From now on I will only add a smaller number of files at a time, doing new library updates...
So now it's only the Active Sync problem remaining.
I just can't get it to work anymore. I tried reinstalling it late yesterday, but no luck...

Hi encountered this problem in WM6 Roms i dont know whats causing this and if there is any remedy besides hard reset which is a bummer. . .
i dont know the time frame but all of a sudden the messaging or tmail.exe application in my wizard does not want to open all of a sudden. it doesnt even have the wait indicator. . .
is there a solution to this? or anyone encountered this and might know the reason? im using xplore 1.1 by the way. great rom but i really wanna fix that problem. also note that i also expirienced this in most beutiful, muns, and faria.
hope someone can help me to find out why this is happening to avoid it or to have a fix.

i think that problem is a random thing. . i have cleared the storage and deleted the temp files manually and restored the backup i produced from SPB backup (it doesnt work the first time i tried it but since i will not take no for an answer!) it worked!
i keep my wizard shut for the whole day could this also be an added factor? ah well at least my wizard is ok again!

My messaging app won't open on my Wizard either, just started a few hours ago. I'm running stock WM5.
I'd rather not hard reset, as I don't have backup software yet (I just got the phone a week ago)... did you ever figure out what the problem was? What temp files or registry settings can I check?

did you try to restart the phone? maybe some program just got stock?
I specifically deleted the Temp Folder for email attachment. . although i fixed mine i dont really have an idea on what went wrong. . . sorry i cannot directly help you.

Fortunately, I got things sorted out. Resetting wasn't solving anything, but I figured out that removing my memory card would fix the issue.
I have Outlook set to save attachments to the memory card. It looks like a file got corrupt or something, and was locking the program up. I deleted the folders from the card where attachments were stored, and things are working well again.
(This was after two hard resets and restores from Spb backup... gonna have to buy that program)

Read the forum a lot. there are a lot of tricks here to let you enjoy the full capacity of your phone. . . when well read try Windows Mobile 6 just need to read the instructions first.
I had this problem too on my HTC Touch ELFIN WM 6.0. The folder on SD card used for storing attachments got corrupted. Deleting the folder solved the problem. Removing the storage card would solve it too. This is because tmail.exe checks for storage card and because it doesnt find one it creates a new folder called "Storage Card" in the phone memory and uses that to store attachments. If you then put in your SD card that would become "Storage Card 2". Of course this means that all your shortcuts to stuff on SD card will be broken.
Hi, so I just got an HTC Fuze. I'm usually pretty tech savvy but apparently not with this. I can't get my phone synced with my computer so I got an SD card reader to transfer files. However I've got no idea how to install half of the apps I've downloaded. The single .cab files I understand. Just copy them over and run them on the phone. Even the .exe I got a .cab converter for but most of them come zipped with at least like 10 or way more files with one of the XML document setup things. Could someone please tell me what I do with these? The file types are always numbers and I just don't get it.
Also, if someone might be able to let me know why my computer won't recognize my phone that would be greatly helpful. It's a 32 bit Vista. I've got Windows Mobile Device Center on but the computer calls my phone an unknown device. I feel like I've tried a hundred different things but it just won't work. My phone is running TAEL ROM does this have anything to do with it?

I just purchased an HTC Titan with mango. This device is incredible but I have a problem when I put a lot of data on it.
Initialy the Titan has 11.5 GB of free space. When I sync it (on Mac OS) with more than ~7.5 GB, the device reboots then the Windows Live and Google profiles (mail) are lost. After that I'm unable to recreate the Live account so I have to format it.
The shop told me that it was because I synchronised it with WP7 Connector on Mac OS. After a couple of days, the guy accepted to replace the faulty device with a new one.
So, I plugged my new Titan on my Windows 7 computer and I had the same problem.
The titan has been updated with the version 7740.16
Anyone of you has an idea to help me ?
I have a Titan which is constantly full of various media and other rubbish. I mean totally full, with 0Mb available (e.g. I have to remove podcasts manually to create space for new editions and often have a queue waiting).
I don't however have your problem. I use Zune on Windows 7 to sync.
Why don't you try syncing on a Windows machine to test whether Mac is a factor with this problem?

I sync my new device exclusively with Windows and I have the same problem. I did a lot of tests and the problem is not a specific file.
In that case all I can think is that it could be a setting on either your device, or in Zune which causes this.
Can you replicate the problem? I mean if you remove all of the files from your device, does this lack of functionality return? If the answer is yes, then there is a problem with your device. If the answer is no, then I honestly have no idea, but this is a weird problem which appears to happen only during, or after the syncing process... hence my thoughts about a setting which is causing the trouble.

Yes, I'm able to replicate problem. I also tried to restore it to factory default.
I don't understand why I had this issue on 2 different devices with 2 different OS (Mac and 7).
So, the most logical answer is: the content I put in the device is the problem.
But it sounds crazy as the device doesn't crash every time on the same content.
That is one annoying problem. I can't think of anything you could try other than turning off sync altogether and moving stuff manually using Zune.
I sync stuff manually and subscribe to podcasts from the device, rather than from Zune. I haven't suffered your problem, but I didn't have this problem when I used to allow automatic syncing either.
I had a confirmation from HTC that this kind of problem exists for Mac Users. As my files are shared on a NAS, maybe my stuff is the problem because of the Mac OS hidden files. Anyway, thanx for your help

mmm, no. a file is a file is a file. if other devices can handle it, your phone should too. pushing 4Gb, 8Gb, or 200Gb should not make the phone restart, ever, no matter where the files come from.
@ohgood, I know that an I totally agree. But as the HTC guy told me, it's an unidentified bug with mac on the titan and I'm not the only one to have it.

I have a ZTE z730 and I'm in need of your assistance!
Okay, for starters, whenever i install an app (from the play store) and it can be moved to the SD card, it moves it there all by itself... the problem with that is, for some unknown reason, that app will not work! It won't even open and instead force closes every time... if i try to move the app back to the phone (as soon as it's installed), it won't let me... (this, however, did work at least once...)...
The other issue I'm having is that anything, (and i mean ANYTHING) that i download or try to save to the SD card, be it from the browser, an app or even just backing up the apk file from an installed app (i use SuperToolbox+) gets corrupted... I use the app Stumbler a lot and if i download a pic or a gif off of that a notification pops up in my status bar and if i tap on it immediately and view it with the gallery or ESFile Explorer's image viewer, it is fine but it corrupts it after a short period of time...
Another example of this is when I download a video from YouTube using TubeMate... the video will get downloaded but will become corrupt and/or deleted within, say, 5 minutes! It will say that the download has finished but when I go and try to find/view the file it isn't there! (And, yes, I'm 110% positive that I'm looking in the right folder!)
I have tried factory resetting my phone and also formatting the microSD (which is fairly new and a class 10) and that fixed the problem for a day or two... but then it went back to being all wonky again... I have also tried starting my phone in safe mode and then attempting to save some images and that seemed to fix the downloading problem but not the app problem... and I'm running out of ideas...
Can anybody shed some light on what's going on or how to fix it? I've tried searching (on here and with google) for every sort of search string combinations to try and find an answer or even someone else who's also having these problems, but came up with nada... (I'll give you a list of all of the various strings I've tried if anyone is interested.) and I'll try any (serious) feasible suggestion you might have! If you need any other info than what I've posted, just let me know!

Hi,
Have you try another MicroSD card to see if the issue persist on that card? If not, give a try.
If you have tried another MicroSD card and the problem still persist, might be the problem comes from your phone.
Unfortunately, i don't have another one... but i will try to borrow one from a friend of mine. I don't have to reformat the card, right?

I believe it's actually my SD card that is faulty...
I borrowed and old (smart)phone from a friend of mine and put the 32 GB card that was in my phone into it and when I tried to move an app to the SD card, (with my friend's permission, of course) it immediately borked that app... then I tried to install an app that I knew had installed itself to the SD card automatically on my phone (and thus corrupting it) and it (the Play store) gave me 3 different errors : First it said that the package had a bad manifest, then it said it couldn't parse the package and finally it told me that the app could not be installed to the SD card.
Being the curious little monkey that I am, I searched the market for SD card info tools and installed SD Insight. Upon running it, I find out that the manufacturer is listed as "invalid" and it records the size of the card as being 34 GB... also, the OEM/Application ID is shown as "Unknown: 0"... all of which make me highly suspicious...
I'ma gonna go do me some further research and see what the haps with this card... maybe see if I can return it... we shall see... In the meantime, thanks for your help! I'm just glad it's NOT my phone!
Can I get a mod to change the title tag to "resolved" (or what-have-you) or is this something I can do myself?
