Had some trouble with Telus, their store, their customer service, and tech support. Lies were told and damage was done. My Vogue is still functional, but barely. After 6 months of complaining I got this:
I was promised any phone of my choice, out of everything they have available... regardless of cost, in exchange for the Vogue. The offer is a standing offer, meaning I can take it now or the last day of the contract or any day between.
Now, I know there's some vogue fans out there... and I know I could put a cooked rom on it (or wait for the official one)... but I've really just about had it with this thing... So, please... weigh in on the choices... throw as much information and opinion at me as you can! I'm begging you!
My three options as I see it right now:
1. Ask for a replacement Vogue, waiting perhaps until after it gets a firmware update. Pros are: Keeping all my accessories (aluminum case/2 soft cases/custom headset). Cons are: It probably still wont have GPS, and the update has been delayed several months already.
2. MOTO Q 9c - Nice phone, another good brand. Pros are: Can still use a bluetooth keyboard. Has GPS. Slightly crappier camera, but with a flash. Cons are: Less memory, a different form factor, but still supposedly a solid phone. It's also heavier and bigger. Don't know about an update ever coming for this phone.
3. Wait for something new, better, cooler. This is where I'm lost. Is there any upcoming phone that Telus may pick up this summer I may want? What's new and exciting? Help!
I'm going to go ahead by being a Vogue owner and say get a new one. In the last year I've gone from Treo 700p > Treo 700w/x > Samsung i760 > Titan > to my current Vogue. Now these phones may not be ones your looking at or have a choice of, but out of these phones, this has been by far the best. I see it this way, it has TONS of memory, lightweight, bluetooth 2.0, and with the custom ROMs, the GPS. Especially with money already invested in accessories, I suggest sticking with it. I liked it the day I picked up, love it even more now with the new ROM!

I feel so happy I could dance.
Oh and I'm guessing someone from this community will write a reg-hack to enable it before HTC do!
In fact, this reminds me of the time the HTC Wizard was shipped with 802.11g disabled.
This isnt directly confirmed, as theres a link in the TyTN upgrading forum pointing to another source saying the claims are bogus.
two things to consider
1. Why would HTC release two GPS devices to compete with each others?
2. What sort of message would HTC be sending, given its only just taken its first steps directly into the market, to release an unfinished product?
If it is true then the P3600 is going to be one hot seller, especially that black possible finger print magnet version, but im skeptical at this stage.
All I remember is back when it was revealed the next few HTC phones were to be Artemis, Trinity etc, it was mentioned the Trinity would have a GPS unit.
I don't see them competing since one's a higher-spec model but obviously more expensive. I guess they have to create a cellphone for everyone's budget.
Still, I'm hopeful and I wouldn't be surprised if the disabled-GPS claim is true because they did release phones with G-mode Wifi disabled even though they were supposed to have them out-of-the-box.
i have no real need for gps but i know for a fact the day i do get one is the day where the following day gallieo will take off and stuff it to me how much better it is then gps
You gotta love those people holding back technology with comments like that; "I don't need a faster computer", "I don't need a phone with more features". Awesome. I just hope no-one from HTC reads his comments!
See I would be inclined to agree with you if the models were in a different price league, but look on: www.expansys.com / .co.uk. Both models only have a 50 pound price difference. So they are not really in different leagues, I cant see too many people not paying the extra $50 to get a nicer unit with 3G/HSDPA and whilst its debatable alot would weigh up an OMAP 200mhz versus the Intel one and side with the faster intel one, so HTC would really be shooting themselves in the foot in those regards.
But hey over the coming weeks I guess we will find out
I wouldn't rely on expansys.com's pricing, they've listed TyTN for even more than the Trinity.
I think that Artemis being slimmer may also be a factor (at least it looks that way in the photos).
You're right, I guess we will find out in the months to come.
Hi to everyone, I bought one HTC P3600 last monday, so, how can i verify if it has GPS and Wifi b/g activated???
if you need more info, please ask
JG
at the moment you can't
I've really been considering to buy the Fuze, but I'm getting mixed reviews. For all the Fuze owners, please answer the poll so that us potential buyers will know what to do.
Thanks!

I'm stuck in between the Fuze and the Touch Pro now... I really don't know which one is better? They are the same price nowadays.
I recommend it. I had the Tilt before and I love the Touch, its probably the best WM phone I've had (I've used the Sprint 700wx, Sprint Q, Sprint Touch, AT&T Tilt and now the AT&T Fuze).
I'm sure the few issues that exist with the Fuze will be fixed within a month or two because of the wonderful people we have here making custom ROMs, porting radios, etc.
I am very happy with my Fuze. It's not perfect and definitely needs some tweaks, but I think it is the best Windows Mobile phone ever put out. The screen is fantastic and makes it worth it by itself.
Pros:
VGA screen
Excellent multimedia
Youtube works both in it's own app and the mobile website
Slingbox looks fantastic
Expanded keyboard
Sleek design
Touch Flo 3D really works good
Finally, good bluetooth reception
Cons:
So-so d-pad
More remappable buttons needed
No headphone out jack
I do miss the tilting screen of the Tilt
No forward facing camera (why AT&T?)
Overall, I love the phone. I don't even need to use my laptop much anymore. Plus, it should only get better. I can't wait to see the Fennec web browser released for WinMo.
The Fuze can run on AT&T's 3G bands, which is the biggest difference. Physically, the Fuze has a PTT button (remappable using a trick in this forum) and the Pro has a front-faceing camera, but they are otherwise the same. You can install whatever Touch Pro ROM you want on the Fuze once you flash Hard SPL on it, so the software difference should not be an issue. If you're on AT&T and in a 3G area, it's a no-brainer decision between the two.

US carriers don't support that functionality so it's cheaper for HTC to leave it out all together.
I've swithed from iPhone after droolling over Fuze release date for 2 months. First couple of days had slight regret (my first WM phone), but once I got the hang of it I fell in love with it. My girl tried it out and dropped her iPhone for Fuze aswell. IMHO, Fuze is on a much higher level and you just can't customize the iPhone the way you can Fuze, no matter what Apple commercials say. Oh and by the way, I realized how crappy Apple products are, but that's another story.
I said no because its not for everyone. I read a lot of people wanting something other than the iphone because of the data plan, this is not an iphone. Then they go and complaint that they cant do this, that its slow, that this, that that. I confess, I am/was one of those whining byotches. I know its not an iphone, I'm just afraid to customizing with roms and then f-it up and be stuck with a nice $300 paper weight. So maybe after my month is up, I'll have the balls to customize it.
Do you have to buy a data plan with the Fuze like you have to with the iPhone, for AT&T?
Only if you want the rebate.
If you want the best browser/entertainment device thats easy to use get an iphone. If you need a business phone outside of entertainment, get the fuze. Both are aimed at different type of consumer.
I know this is exactly what everyone hates to hear, and they just want a plain yes or no, but it really does depend on the person.
If your the kind of person thats really into the stuff they buy, and wants a device that has tons of opportunities and possibilities, then you will probably like the fuze. The beautiful thing about winmo devices is how much you can mess around with them. You can download tons of apps, customize, flash new ROMs, experiment, all kinds of stuff.
If you want something that is ALWAYS going to be friendly and never ever give you any quirks or problems and you just want something that is very cut and dry, the fuze may not be for you.
I would line up your priorities and see what is most important to you and more importantly, what would make you want to throw your phone out the window, cause those are the things that are ultimately going to make you happy when your using your device.
Fuze thoughts:
I have had this phone for 3 days now. My prior phone was an 8125. I unlocked and customized that phone after 30 days. I will most likely do the same thing with this one. Gotta read read read.
Initial review: Absolutely the awesomest phone I have had to date, only the 3rd PDA, though.
I miss the programmable buttons. I haven't figured everything out, but I am getting the hang of it. It has advanced customization, though I haven't even touched the surface. The keyboard is a little different from my 8125, and as I have used it extensively for 2 years, I am accustomed to the numbers being along the top row. I think the 'Full 5 Row QWERTY keyboard on the phone should more closely resemble a normal keyboard, however, I am certain I will get used to it with a little practice.
I have one problem that AT&T doesn't know how to fix: the error message "Smart Chip Not Provisioned MM #2" comes up and shuts off phone signal. I initially thought it was the smart chip. I placed it in my 8125, and no problems. Then I exchanged the phone. Still no fix. It isn't a hard error I can readily duplicate, it just happens intermittently, but only in a specific location, so now I suspect the towers serving the area in which it happens. I suppose it could be the sim card in conjunction with the 3G network which the 8125 doesn't support, but further troubleshooting will eventually solve this one.
Addtionally I was hoping that AT&T wouldn't cripple the forward facing camera, but it isn't there, and I'm not willing to pay $550 more for a Touch Pro off Ebay just for that. As there isn't a lot of network support for live video conferencing, it really isn't that much of a problem for me anyway.
Reception seems to be about the same as my 8125, but again, further testing will support or disprove my initial experience. I am currently having trouble with the GPS function, but it is probably just a configuration/setup issue that I have not played with enough. The phone will tether without the laptop connect package, but you have to make a small edit in the registry. This is a relatively painless process.
This is not meant to criticize the Fuze. These are the only real problems (and minor to me) that I have encountered, and would give this phone a HIGH recommendation.
MrRuss
Hi guys,
What it is I'm with T-mobile and I've been offer a few tariffs one includes free calls all day to all networks and free txt but not including voicemail or mms for £35pm + a handset on a 24 month contract or the same deal without the phone on a 12 month contract.
Also I was offered I think it's called the flex 35 - 900 minutes + my off peak calls to all networks from 7pm - 12am and all weekend with a handset on a 18 month contract.
The phones I was after Nokia N900 - Samsung Omnia Hd or the Hero, phonehone don't seem to have in stock apparently. Just want to check if my choices of phones are worth holding out for.
I would like the phone to have a large display screen, an easy touchscreen to scroll, not like my current htc diamond with it's lousy touchscreen and crappy internet - also I would like it to have tv-out with the option of play xvids on the phone and finally gps so I can install tomtom.
That's it...
Leo, Topaz or Rhodium are great choices to consider if $ is not the problem
$ really isn't but I kinda wouldn't mind staying away from htc for a year or so. Just check out your recommendations on youtube and it's like I'm still seeing my diamond.
I would not expect the N900 to be available from Operators... At least not in a near future. The reason is that the N900 is a fairly open Linux machine, which includes a root shell, meaning you can do anything you like on software terms. This is normally not what Operators like. They prefer to customize a perfectly good phone to death...
My opinion: either get an iPhone or an HTC.
Reasons:
1) iPhone is a great phone, no matter what people say.
2) You can get a pretty good discount for your phone with a contract. After the contract, the phone is probably still worth more than what you had to pay for it.
3) If you prefer Android or WM, go with an HTC: on this forum you will certainly find customized ROM's to get rid of locks and customisations made by the Operator.
Cheers,
vma
I recommend anything but the iPhone
Go for HTC's many choices...
Well I guess Htc it is, please I really hope the touch screen as improved significantly from the touch diamond. Is there a main one to really consider or as orbit3000 said either: Leo, Topaz or Rhodium?
Well I guess it's really up to the kind of things you want to do with you device, and what size you want your device to be...
- The Leo is huge and has a superb 4.3 inches capacitive touchscreen, which may please you if you are unsatisfied with your diamond touchscreen. Hardware-wise the Leo is a "new generation" phone that can handle a lot. Rumour says that it may get a WM7 upgrade in the future
- Topaz is the Diamond 2 and has a similar size but a larger touchscreen. The hardware is standard HTC with nothing spectacular
- Rhodium is more business-centric with the sliding keyboard for fast typing. It also has some advanced conf-call features that you may like if you use your phone for your work. Hardware is nothing special either, standard Qualcomm 72XX processor
I would suggest you to go in a shop to get a feeling of the size of the three devices as the Leo and the Rhodium are significantly bigger than your old phone.
Hi folks, you know the drill, my current phone (an HTC Mogul) is getting past it's usefulness and once more I find myself on a hunt to find a phone that has the most of what I do want and the least of what I don't, in other words the best compremise between the device of my dreams and what's actually avaliable.
Further to this I am limited in funds so not only can I not go out and purchase a brand new top of the line model, the device I do end up getting will hopefully last me for a long time (or at least longer then the 1yr I got out of my Mogul).
Perhaps I should start by looking at why my current phone just doesn't do it for me anymore?
1) No wireless - Ever since I flashed it to 6.5 I have had no wifi.
2) No 3.5mm plug - The HTC proprieity adapter hardly works half the time either.
3) OS - 6.5 WiMo flashed is pretty unstable, I regularly have to reset the device because it locks up or just won't work.
4) QVGA - probably the best I can afford, but I do a lot of reading on this and a higher res would be better for my eyes.
5) CDMA - I really need a quadband simcard capable phone.
So what do I want?
1) Wifi, bluetooth, GPS
2) 2mp camera or better
3) 6.5 Wimo native, preferably with duel boot capibility
4) 3.5 or 2.5mm audio output, or HTCusb that actually works!
5) Keyboard if possible (I really like the qwerty thumboard on my Mogul)
6) WVGA or VGA would be nice, but it might be out of my price point.
7) GSM QUADBAND!
Any reccomendations of models would be nice, thankyou
Go for Rhodium!
Definitely the best hardware device out there
If want to spent less money you can try Rapahel or even less (if you find someone who want to sell) Universal
Thanks for the recc, I will check those two out
I agree with ORB you should go for a Rapahel because it has so many roms to flash and it is cheap compared to the latest devices .

Hmm, looking at ebay, the Rhod looks like its about $100 more then the Raph
or $300 for the Touch2 and $210 for the Raph.
At those prices it seems like it would be better just to pay the difference?
Also no one will ship to New Zealand
Yes on that case better go for Rhodium
I have seen ebay sellers who ships to almost any part of the world.
Also have a look on marketplace section, you can find very good deals
Good luck,
UPDATE: I bought myself a HTC Rhodium, very happy with it.
Now, I want to buy my GF a new phone for her birthday. Currenty she is using my ****ty old Blue Angel with WiMo 6.1
She uses the phone everyday (carries it around in her bag), but the only thing she does on it is read. She sometimes sends text messages, but usually not. She hasn't really used any of its other features or installed her own programs or anything (she is a programmer, so she does have the skills to do so).
At the moment I'm tossing up between a HTC Diamond, Diamond 2, Touch HD and another Rhodium. I'm leaning more toward the Diamond1 though. We generally try to avoid spending lots and she's more then happy with the PDA2k so even the diamond is a big upgrade and isn't too expensive.
I use my Rhodium to read alot of comics, but at 480x640 the screen should be highres enough to be an improvement. The other reason I'm leaning toward the Diamond is because of it's small size, and easier for her to carry around.
So, my question: Is there anything wrong with the Diamond that I should consider, and are there any other devices with VGA or better resolution in a similar price range that I should take a look?
Also what is the difference between the Touch Pro and the Diamond (besides the keyboard)?
If you need keyboard go for Raphael, if you don´t need it go for Diamond 2, I buyed one in marketplace for 180US a few months ago.
Or take another Rhodium
Why the recommendations for Rapheal? I am ready to put mine through a wall. The keyboard has gone flaky in the last three months...(delete requires holding down, not just press, P has started to not work, space now triple spaces)
In addition the screen started to separate over the 'x' button about two months back, now I hve that leaky black spot you get when screens break. The control pad at bottom has started to have the plastic cover start to come up.
In the last month the phone has decided to start dropping calls and even losing towers completely. (I have not changed anything on phone in over 6 months) I have rebooted the phone at least 10 times in last three weeks because of screen starting lock up, non-responsive push buttons, and complete lost of tower without attempting to reaquire.
This phone is going tits-up recently and I have had it locked to Edge forever because it will not hold a 3G signal in a very large city.
Not a recommend from me.
Thanks for the reccomendatiom - and the non recccomendation ^_^;
(silly extra text because my message was too short)
Ok, at this stage I am leaning toward the HTC Touch. The touch is fatter, but it looks like it has a lot more memory which has surely got to result in a better user experiance. It's about the same price as a diamond as well - I just have to find someone on here to sell a raphael to me.
I have a moderately worn Tmo Touch Pro 2 I'm selling off on ebay later today. Only doing a 3 day auction starting at $0.99. If interested I'll post a link. Pics are great of the scratches so you can probably grab it for $125-$150.
a link sounds good

What where the main issues you had with it?
I've just upgraded from my mogul to the touch2, and the main issue I had with the mogul was the low res and slow processor compared to the touch 2, but overall it was a good phone.
NEED ANDROID PHONE WITH Qwerty keyboard
I'm looking for a new phone to replace my aging G1 but I dont want to give up the real keyboard. The mytouch slide is nice but it's hardware isn't on par with nexus one or htc incredible. The new Samsung Galaxy S Pro with sprint seems promising but not so sure about community support. I love how with my G1 I have so many options, so many great ROMs from Cyanogen and others on XDA. I'm worried that If I go with a samsung I will have better hardware but very few choices when it comes to moded roms. Is there an alternative phone out there with hardware on par with the latest HTC phones that have a slide out keyboard. Any one care to offer thier opinions??
whats your budget?
android or wimo?
So I have been trying to get a hold of the HTC Arrive on Sprint for the past couple of days locally with no luck (Lexington, KY).
Basically my question is, Will the arrive lag on me at all? should I wait for that rumored LTE Windows Phone? That is something I worry about when making the switch as this is a first generation windows phone 7 we are talking about here...
Also like the fact that it has a physical keyboard. Lack of SD Slot bothers me, but I can deal with it.
Iirc, the Arrive is the same model as the 7Pro over here in the UK (maybe a few slight differences). The model was the spiritual successor to the TouchPro2.
As it is a 1st gen phone, HTC have discontinued the 7Pro a while back, and not afaik, replaced it with anything similar.
I don't think it sold in great quantities, due to the "professional" nature of the phone, with WP7 being aimed more towards consumers, and also because WP7 as a whole, were pretty much flat until Nokia got in on the act. Most people who bought HTC's seemed to buy droid varients. Also, as the TouchPro2 was considered by the WinMo community, as the true successor to the HTC Universal, and it the best part of 4 years to be released after the Uni, then it is likely that HTC may not be in a hurry to release the next variant of the TouchPro series.
First of all, in answer to your question, "lag" is generally not a problem at all on WP7. The OS is designed specifically to perform well on the first-gen hardware, and it shows. The second-gen phones may technically be faster, but the difference is generally not noticeable to people unless you're doing really JavaScript-heavy websites or something. If you meant the speed of the data connection, it's true that the Arrive is "only" 3G, but it should still be able to pull several Mbps down. That's enough for pretty much anything that makes sense to do on a phone, including YouTube videos and such.
As for buying one, that should be possible but it may take a bit of searching. If you go into a Sprint store (not a little kiosk, an actual store) you may find it there (though you might have to ask for it specifically, as many stores are reported to not have them on display).
If there's a Microsoft store near you, you might be able to buy one from there. They mostly have second-gen Windows phones now, but since the only model on Sprint is a first-gen, they might carry it anyhow.
Finally, you could just find it online. http://www.bing.com/search?q=sprint+htc+arrive. There are lots of good links there; Radio Shack is apparently selling them for free if you get a new 2-year plan, plus free shipping. I'd jump on that deal if you're up for renewal. If not, there are lots of other options...
