Hi,
probably a rather stupid question but still, bare with me..
i copied a garmin mobile xt (bought version) on my card and hoped it would work on my new polaris,... unfortunately it kept looking for an external gps unit via bluetooth, the problem is i can not delete it no metter what i do, if i try to do it in the phone it freezes, if i try it to do in my card reader it asys it cannot be removed,... (the garmin directory), if i try to delete the autorun from 2577 folder it says it cant but does delete it,.. however it reappeares wher reinserted in the reader..

I don't understand why you should delete it. Better get it working. I´m running Garmin both land and sea navigation on my Touch. Much better than TomTom. There are certain steps which needs to be taken in order for the Touch to identify your SDcard. If you have a bought version it shouldn´t be a problem to ask the Garmin people for help. It works perfectly with the internal GPS.
Good luck!
@andbertina: hehe actually i thought that 2, but when i called them (garmin reps) some time ago,.. first they accussed me of having a pirate version,.. so went home for the box and when i told the guy the number he said yes this was bought with a bluetooth gps and won't work with an internal,.. the new release works though but i should buy a new one as well (although mine has aroung half a year).. and that was about it,.. i'm using tomtom now, and will never buy garmin again..this one that i have was a present..
so when i wanted to delete the file (since it keeps asking if i want to install garmin at startup and even sometimes just like that in the middle of sth) it wouldn't as described in previous post
thnx for the reply

It´s fine that you are happy with your TT but the HTC version has some bugs in voice program that I didn´t like.
I don´t think the Garmin rep. knew what he was talking about. Check GPS-passion forum below and the links for ideas. You are not alone in world with Garmin problem to be solved.

Good luck.
I can imagine a Garmin representative like that can spoil the fun, but I can tell you imho Garmin Mobile XT is far superior over TomTom. The maps are better and prettier, the voices are better, the indications are better.
hi thanx fir the reply, .. i know how garmin is i had it on may nokia till now, but was not able to upload the maps (again original) and the software was not able to find gps uni since it kept scanning the bluetooth,.. so i decided to go with tomtom,.. if garmin would work than i would probably stick with it,.. unfortunately it was to big of a piece for me to swallow if i put it like this :d ... and for the final act i can not delete the install file as well so it keeps bugging me wanting to instal.. doooh
anyone else ,... pls
Have you checked if the SD card is locked ?
did ,.. wasn't..
anyways, my friend succeded,.. but to tell you the truth, since we were doing on other issues didn't remembered to ask him,.. yet

H! all
i purchased a new PDA-N..for the purpose of navigation...and i downloaded ..mobile navigon 5...and it works and everything....but the problem is that it disconnects every 30 minutes!!!(the GPS receiver)
is there a solution???
plz help
cheers
If you BUY the software instead of using a keygenerator or a cracked executable you would not have this problem.
Go buy the software or complain somewhere else.
I do confirm that a real purchased version of Navigon works for hours without disconnections.
In fact, there's normally an upgrade deal available from Navigon if you already own some other software and are willing to send it to them physically to Germany. I've snatched the upgrade deal from AA Navigator, and it was just €79 (£53 by the time of purchase).
Don't buy the memory card option though -- the card included is just measly 128MB and you get it for €50 extra price tag, so this is perfectly unneeded thing - instead you can buy a 512MB card elsewhere for the same money Convenience reason also fails here -- You will still have to download the map upgrade from the Web and put it on this card manually.
P.S. to the author of the original question: I don't think the problem lies within Navigon itself ;-) because with keygen, there's no way it could detect how the code it was generated, I don't think there are two keygens possible that will fit the checking algorithm -- it's highly sophisticated and involves the device ID.
Please just help out here.... i said the magic word 'please'
I have an issue with my new XDA IQ smartphone and TomTom 5.2
I've moved from an XDA SP - basically put the tomtom memory card (with 5.2 working fine on the SP) into the XDA IQ.
It all installed fine and I have the application short cuts.
I've got the new IQ to recognise Tomtom GPS receiver.
When I start the application the disclaimer screen appears with the option "I agree".
Once selected Tomtom bombs out back to the "desktop" - the blue tooth that tomtom triggered is still enabled but then when I try and do anything with the phone, its really sluggish and unresponsive. A soft reset sorts this out.
I've tried tomtom support, but I guess that always asking too much
I've used the application unlock as described on this forum to allow any app to be installed, but again this has made no difference.
I guess thats it! - i'll be trying out other methods tonight so if i find a solution I will update the thread for others with similar problems.
Many Thanks!
Ive managed to fix the issue with this.
Created a new notepad text document - entered the path of the map file into the text document
\Storage Card\Great-Britain-Map\
*note - you may need to amend the above location to reflect your installation.
Saved the text document and renamed it
CurrentMap.dat
then use activesync explorer to move it to
\My Documents\TomTom
create the TomTom directory if it does not exsist.
Then it works!
IT WORKS!!!
I was having exatly the same problems with my tomtom.
I had recently updatet my Qtek 8310 with new rom, but nothing worked.
Then i tried, solomons trick, ( a couple of times) and it worked , only issue was there was no shortscuts, but that i created.
Mr Solomon, you're great!!!
Problmes with tomtom 5.2
im experienses problems with the software, i got it to work 2-3 times. but now tomtom chrashes...
i've done exactly as explines

I have exactly the same problem on my Qtek 8310, after rom upgrade, tomtom doesn't work anymore Help please !!!

It WORKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a lot dude
Having problems aswell.
I've got the program (TomTom mobile 5 and maps on my SD card but how do i install it and get it to run?
I bet im been so dumb, thanks in advance for any help
sooo, because i'm a cheap basta*d i'm going to buy a dvd player with gps for my car on ebay and i've noticed a lot of them, or even all of them?, run on windows ce. So here's my question, will any cab run on windows ce? i mean, winmo 5, 6, 6.1 and everything before that ran on windows ce right? so how easy would it be?
Picture this, a 8-16gb sd card, jam it into the card reader and start up S2P (slide to play) for one bad ass cover flowin' music center! obviously other thing would be useful to, and since these bad boys are only like $300 buckaroos it isn't a bad idea, especially for us gadget pr0n guys right?
what about flashing a rom from a SD card (only heard rumors/speculation about that, probably not possible)? or just loading up manila 2d/3d via throttle launcher and getting the think looking pimp? no phone antenna, no problem, just sync it through the bluetooth and make calls (new app required i'm guessing, or at least adapt/beautify some existing cab/exe). get internet sharing to work on it somehow and you're seriously looking at a pretty cool carputer. well, with all i'd want to use one for anyways. Who wants to do more than what a good rom on one of our phones can do while in a car anyways?
I'm not sure if it will run out of the box like that, with nothing more than some cabs on and sd card, or if you have to do something else (file explorer and whatnot), but i figured xda would be the best place to start for the right answers. I've never gone wrong before with you guys, so speak up! let's see what we come up with!
or at least give me a link to a better place if you know of one and i'll get off my soapbox...
anyways, i've got access to a few vogues, a wing/herald, and a touch pro to do testing with, along with the dvd player/win CE unit--in about a week or two that is--so i'm more than happy to put it on the table.
Man i hope you guys are reading this and as pumped as i am.
anyways, pm me with anything, or i'll just keep looking to see if anyone else posts here
amruthwo
bump
does anyone know if this would even work?
This could work.
First of all, you need to look up how to disable OEM's shell (factory "software" of the player) and enable Windows CE interface.
Next you either install Handheld PC apps, or install libraries which allow you to run applications from PocketPC.
Myself I tried it with a cheap GPS. Yeah, WinCE + apps are a major step up from maps only, but it is not anywhere close to even a non-phone PPC. Because of, for example, lack of WiFi. The big advantage is, that I can install any WinCE compatible map instead of outdated OEM maps.
Hope I am right, and this helps
Where did you find information about your GPS? I just got one, model# TID-7626GPS that I'm going to try to mod, but i can't find information about how to get the WinCE.
if you could pass on any links to places i could look it would help a ton. For how do disable the factory OEM and those libraries?
First you need to find out real manufacturer of your device. I googled model name you said but there's nothing
Or, connect that device via ActiveSync (yes, the same) and see if there's a file \Windows\autorun.inf
If it exists, backup it. Then change it so it will load \Windows\explorer.exe
That should unlock WinCE UI.
However, the file may not exist. In this case you have to look for instructions over the web.
i wanted to know i have the g sensor on my x7510 but it dosent seem to work
the 7510 has no gsensor
Yes it does
If you install GSen from SKKV software, you should be able to get the autorotation working.
Some ROMs have it totally disabled though- the O2 XDA Flint's g-sensor can't be activated for some reason, but using the HTC standard ROM it works fine.
Personally I hate it though! It always wants to autorotate when you don't want it to! I prefer manual orientation switching!
My X7510 has the G-sensor too. I my self don't like the auto rotation, although I like the function of G-Sen where it shuts off your device if turned upside down flat on the table.
I believe not all XDA Flint have the G-Sensor installed though. I suggest try installing G-Sen, if you still could not get it to work, look at the files under Windows folder and see if there are files for the G-Sensor. If it is present and you still could not get it to work, then I suggest visit your XDA store where you bought it from and have it exchanged.
Requesting an exchange will probably not work
O2, for some reason, asked HTC to supply XDA Flints without a G-sensor. It seems that some physically don't have it, but some have it disabled in ROM.
I've had 2 Flints (the first one had to be returned last week due to a screen error); the first one had a G-sensor though it would not work with the O2 ROM no matter how much I played with the installed dll's. The replacement seems not to have it at all.
As O2 have specified that it should not be present, it is unlikely that an exchange would be granted, especially as later devices are less likely to have it.
g sensor on 02
i have the o2 xda flint.when i bought it i was told it has a custom rom.i did hard reset.when i go to advance configuration it shows g sensor there.how do u activate it.

If it is a .cab file, use the built-in File Explorer and run it from there. It will give you an option where to install it. Install it to Main Memory. This is an example of an application that should ALWAYS be installed to the Main Memory. Why? Because if for some reason you are accessing your X7510 Flash Disk via USB, and you installed GSen there, then that would cause incompatibility problems for you later on. It just won't run.
adamo86,
with a windows mobile device you can .cab files install direct on your device through the explorrer but when you downloaded gsen from the page it comes as a .rar file you have to unpack it first on your pc and then copy it through activesync on to your device or on a memory card which fits in your device.
grtz.

i tryed to copy and paste it on flash drive but it dosnt allow me to paste.i noticed this problem with certain cab files.is it because its for a different model

Its one of those stupid things- the hardware is there but the software is not, by default.
Hi guys
There are loads of TomTom discussions but nothing i have found that helps me. Can any of you help. Before i waiste £28 on a map i cant get at
I bought an HTC HD2
Transfered my SD card over from my Touch HD and tried to load TT 7.14. it opened but didnt see my maps and i got the bluetooth error. So i installed the 7.15 peoplee here talked about, but still couldnt see my maps.
So i purchased new maps from TomTome site, plugged my HD2 into TomTom home 2.7.
TomTom home does not recognise the HD2 so i can not download my new maps.
Can i download my maps manually so i can put it onto TomTom myself, or have i just waisted £28?
Hey Mate i may be able to help,
Basically i had Tomtom 6 on my other xda handsets and transferred it over to the HTC HD2. now i did the same i brought the updated maps and the only way you can put it on your device is via the tomtom home, however tomtom home, newest edition doesnt work with mobiles, you have to download the older version 1.6 which is in small writting under the main download found on the website below
http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=16&tab=87
I had to contact tomtom cause i had same problem and he told me to do this, they say that HTC HD2 is not in there list as operating tomtom, but i told him mine works fine no problems and it still does, so this will help in getting the new maps on, all i can suggest is try this first and see if it see's the new maps.
what are you trying to do with bluetooth and tomtom to get bluetooth error??
nothing with bluetooth but when i install tomtom i get the usual bluetooth error.
cheers for the advice, i will try it and that you know
thanks

Hi
It is problem with tomtom and bloutooth. But you can by-pass this problem very easly. It dosent matter wich tomtom you install. I have installed ttn7.915.9196.qvga_black.cab and it is working perfect without any problem.
What you can do is!!
1) Install your tomtom as you used to.
2)Connect your HD2 to PC an syncronize it!
3) Open files on your HD2 and copy file name Navigator which is in file programs! copy whole file to your PC.
4) Then you have to unstall tomtom and reboot the phone
5)Then copy whole file as it is on your pc back to the phone!(navigator file)
If you click on tomtom navigator.exe then it will work as it was before. and it is no problem with bloutooth. But if you would like to have on your program list to that you can make short cut, you have to do this!
1) Now it is easy to make a file under progarms: You do such:
Start--- filemanaging---my unit(phone)---windows----start meny---programs
You make a new file. dosent matter the name.
2) copy file name tomtom navigator.exe to this file(look 1) Until here you can do it on your pc . But after that you have to do it on you HD2
3) Click on
Start--filemanaging--myunit---windows---start meny---programs---newfile(or what ever you gave name to).
4)push your finger on only file there by the name tomtom navigator.exe, then cut it.
5) click on up. It is left handside down. Then you are in the file programs.
6) pushyour finger somewhere on the screen.( Just like wright click on pc)
You chose her ;copy short cut.
7) now you can delet that file that is empety. If you dont it is ok.
It is finshed. If you click on start, you will find tomtom there now. If you did what I told you.
Good luck
thank you to both of you.
