Is there any way to actually pull all three of the existing startup splash screens off the Wizard? Would like to pull them off, edit them, and put them back on again. I know how to do the latter, but cannot locate any directions (if it is even possible) on how to pull them off into an editable format.
Thanx.

I don't think that's possible. Not sure dough. I tried it, but you cannot restore properly splashscreen 1 and 2

So, the only way to fix a problem on the first splash is to start all over and reflash it?
Thanx.

yes, of that I'm sure
My little contribution.
I hope you like it.
Safe for use with G4 and G3.
Enjoy.
Run the update utility as always. It will only flash the boot screen.
Best Regards.

That's all fine and dandy. However, I am looking to edit my own screens that I've already flashed to the device. I was hoping there would be a way for me to extract them back off so I could just change a little something. I guess that's what I get for not saving a copy, eh?
If you want.

Thank you for the offer, but I already know how to flash the screens to the device. I was just trying to extract an existing screen from my ROM so I might edit it and then re-flash it.
I have to give the forum props though...so many peeps all wanting to help out. Thanx.

Nice work there. I like it
yea this is nice im using this one
Here's a couple of screens that I think may be what you are looking for (or very close). One is the HTC Logo (but its bigger than whats in the Faria and nottoosmart roms). The other is the Black screen with the world and the Windows logo over it.

I've tried it and I can only see the file on my device with that rom! I can't view the file on any other rom and my pc. The 3 splash screens, as far as I know can cut back to two. You can have the same splash for both but its the same pic twice.
update 4-10-2007
Finally got pic to be seen on pc. I wanted to change the 3rd or welcome secreen so I renamed my pic and replaced what was already on my device. It works but not in landscape, no big deal...I don't boot with my keyboard open anyways.

ok you can do this but not in the exact way you specified.
The way i did it is to take the rom that has the splash screens in it and dump it, I used Molski.biz rom tools, I won't go into detail about dumping a rom. use typo5.exe
then i used bcl.exe to extract the .nb files into bmp
I am not going to do a step by step here that is the general idea.
I don't know how to get a rom off a phone but if you have the rom that you put on the phone dump it and grab the splash screens from it.
the tools i used are in molski's devpack
btw the 3rd splash screen is a png file in the rom with some stupid name it is um welcomehead.96.png and it is actually a perfect 320 square so that it will load nicely in both portrait or landscape mode
I attached a Scarface splash screen I made using the HTC logo extracted from splash screen one of one of the newer roms

thanks all
I am a newbie. How do I know whether my phone is a G3 or G4. I am using Dopod 838. Can someone show me how to change the boot screen and to use the update utility safely.
Thanks in advance.
Go read the wiki.
To tell the difference between a G3 and a G4 wizard, you must look at the IPL and SPL versions. To find out what IPL/SPL version your Wizard has, turn the device off and back on. At the first splash screen, the IPL and SPL versions will be written in red at the top of the screen.
A G3 Wizard will have the following IPL: 1.xx or 2.xx or 2.xx.00x (Note that this version only has TWO 0's.).
SPL: 1.xx or 2.xx or 2.xx.00x (Note that this version only has TWO 0's.)
A G4 Wizard will have the following IPL: 2.xx.000x (Note that this version has THREE 0's.)
SPL: 2.xx.000x (Note that this version has THREE 0's.)

Hi there,
I finnaly got it to work yesterday... Installed wm6 on my MDA vario... I still got the splashscreen from Molski.biz when booting... The second boot/flashscreen is the standard Wm6 screen.
I changed my first boot screen with another splashcreen... But dont find anything regarding changing the 2nd boot/splashscreen... !!!
Can someone tell me how to change this screen? (so, not the one with the Os numbers in it!!)
thanks allot......
Changing 2nd splashscreen wm6
I use Boot Screen Manager 1.0. It's Free-ware from PDATOPsoft.com.
thanks will try that aswell
You can easily build your own RUU installer for just the splash screens. I've done this a few times myself and its very easy with this set of tools and instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284006
I'll have to check out that freeware thing mentioned above, but the forum link I gave will step you through changing all 3 splash screens.
Hi everyone,
let see if someone can help me.
I have a G4 locked device so, all the wm6 roms that i use i aply by shell tools.
everytime that i do this, i need first downgrade to wm5 (using wizard love) because my operator dont make your oficial rom avalible.
My problem now is: i have this ungly wizard love splashscreen but i can not overide this!!
already try to use a lot of diferents splashs, already build my nk in italian hacked. but nothing works.
what i do now?

Of course you can change the Splash Screens. I have a G4 Wizard and now have XDA Mobile 6 and added the Splash screens that are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310954
but you need to use the Update Utility from Wizard Love, just swap the nk.nbf file.
You can also use the Update Utility from Wizard Love to change the Radio ROM.
Kind Regards
Darren

Download this kits and you will find that there is some batch files that will take a jpg and make it in to the boot screens and just make sure that you are only making the rom with the HTC and splash only.

Hi Guys
Does anyone that is building roms have the correct ini files which support the Vox in the HTC Rom Tool? The automated download in the application seems to be broken at the moment.
Thanks
You can just use the Excalibur-Setting vor building ROMs for Vox!
By the way, this was written down in the wiki!
I did see that in the wiki and tried it but it looked to be an older version of the kitchen than I am using. My reason for asking was that when using the Excalibur setting the end result was a rom that boots as for as the Windows Mobile screen. Shortly after the screen starts changing in brightness and goes no further.
I never had problems with the excalibur setting. It usually is another mistake that causes the boot to halt!
I had done a little searching and came across RSB-BMP Converting Tool and NBH Converting Tool.
The only issue was this appeared to be for Touch Pro (Raph) will these work on the TP2. I did not want to test it and brick my phone just for boot/splash images.
http://www.pocketpc-live.com/pocket-pc/how-to-change-splash-screen-of-touch-pro.html
But I like the roms I have used, but I would like to change the images. Any help would be great
I´m sure it will work on TP2 or an other htc wm device because they all use the same files for the splash screen or is that wrong?
It wouldn´t brick your device because its only a picture and not a bad rom or a wrong radio...
here are the tools for the rhodium splash...
Just wanted to say thanks for the quick reply and the tools.

Could this be used for Rhodium CDMA version such as Sprint (Rhodium 400) & Verizon? Does it use the same file and command? Thx

The NBHUtil loaded and when I say build it acts like it does (reports Done!) but no file is created, no errors. Any ideas? Running on Windows 7.
