HI Guys
I received a mail from a friend to look at a website www.I'm_A_Scam.com(I don't like scams)
They offer PDA's, Phones, PC's, Laptops, etc at amazingly low prices (an Apple powerpro for 250 euro!). It seems to be a Chinese website and maybe our Chinese friends from this forum can check this and if this site is scam, then we should spread the word or try to remove the website.

I found a couple:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1809
www.elephantcellular.com/

if in the UK
http://www.cex.co.uk/index.php
also http://www.3coffer.com/ looks like a scam site!

http://www.3coffer.com/
has SCAM written all over it, one of the classic signs of a scam is that they will use a free email account - they use yahoo in this case.

Now that is a legal store but I've always found that to be way way overpriced for second-hand gear.

all depends really,
i found ebay sell items £20/30 cheaper however CEX give a 12 month warranty with their items! and if you get grade A / B they are usually mint!
i got an unlocked XDA Trion grade A for £175 which i thought was a blinding deal!
XDA's on there are the highest price range - SPV's lowest so check out all the names for items and you may find a better deal

Sorry, yes, edited original post.
BUMP!!!
...and, Doh!!! I paid £480 for mine about 7 weeks ago. Sigh. I wonder if people have stopped buying them because of some of the possible issues!
just found it on hotdeals! posted by..... you nice

You got to love and hate hotdeals.
It is without doubt a bargain, if you want one and can afford it, I believe that people on that site just vote cold on anything they dont want or cant afford or dont understand, shame really.

Thanks for that - i've been waiting for play.com to have a 10% discount which would have only bought the price down to £432(approx).
This is a great price - i only hope they don't say its a mistake as it looks like one (its cheaper than the Diamond which is £363.39).
It Should arrive on Thursday - just ordered it now.

I've decided to give a WM phone a go again and ordered myself.
To start with I'll just use it with a data sim, to see what its like, as you can't knock a blackberry for staying in touch with IM etc, but Im just so bored of the crap browser experience and lack of software like Live Mesh, which I use one hell of a lot to keep things synced.
I'll use both for a few weeks and see how it goes.
Looks like they have discovered it - gone back up to £466.89 without postage.
Good thing i bought mine
LOL! I don't feel so sick now ; )
spark9990, when your new pro arrives, please could you take a look at what version ROM it ships with now? (start/settings, system tab, device information - though I'm sure you'll know that already). Congratulations on getting such a great price!!!

Yes and mines on tracking so give them credit for keeping the price for those that bought.
I've used them many times actually and they always have been good.

They've cancelled my order - twats. Can they do that?
Mine as well, mine was at the delivery depot.
Not even a offer of a good will gesture, I'm going to check out if they can do that, especially I can prove it was out for delivery.

Let me know what you find - I'm trying to find out if they can do that as well.
Had they sent emails to you both confirming dispatch? If so then then I guess they had entered into a contract with you... talk to Trading Standards for a firm answer....

I don't have proof of that - but i do have a receipt, and they did take money out of my account.
Then without my permission carried out a refund transaction. I trying to find out how to contact trading standards but in the mean time i am going to try to reason with sellers.
In a retail store, if a product is tagged as a cheaper price by mistake, then the retailer has to give it at that price.
If Handtec had debited your back account/credit card account, then they had entered into a contract with you to supply that item at that price. Speak to both Trading Standards and Handtec about it and make sure you can demonstrate that they had taken your dosh. All you did is select a product on Handtec's website in good faith and, for their part, it would appear that they too entered into that contract to suppply it, so I suggest they honour it!
EDIT: http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk, and they should have an entry in your local phone book. Kent is 0845 7585497 (just in case - good luck!)

Thats not true. Most big stores (such as Tesco) will sell you at the quoted price for the good will. By Law they infact have something like 24 hours to correct the price once notified by a customer, during which time they can sell at a different price than is quoted.
That is really bad!
I thought maybe it had something to do with stock levels, but if it got to the depot, you think they would have realised!
Hope you get a response from them or Trading Standards

What do you think about this iphone seller?

Hi,
I was searching the net for reasonably cheap iphone deals and I found this company in the UK:
http://www.babbey.co.uk.pn/
the iphone 3g 16GB is for $350, + 30 pounds shipping, he ships worldwide.
He asked me to transfer the money via western union. do you think that he is a scammer? I don't know but he seems to be true. Any suggestions?
Thanks

If it's too good to be true...
By the way are you sure he's english? -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.pn
Dave
at least he is under british control, these islands are british.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitcairn_Islands
well, I don't know if it too good to be true coz I don't know how much does the iphone cost in bulk. Another thing that makes me feel relaxed is that he wants me to send the money to the UK and I am in the UK, too!
It's the Western Union bit that makes me cautious.
Also why would a UK based company register and even use a .pn domain, especially when the real .co.uk address is available?
I can't say for sure either way... but what guarantee's do you have?
If you do get scammed you'll have ignored all the warning bells... Price in $'s, Registered in the Uk, using Anon Payments, un-heard of, obscure domain, etc...
Also, look at these posts : http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=e...wRx&q="www.babbey.co.uk.pn"&btnG=Search&meta=
If in doubt, don't use them.
Dave
Hmm they say that they are a registered UK company under the number 04568517. how can I check if this is true?
EDIT: I checked that and found that it is true, they are a registered company (see link). is that enough for me to send my money via western union?

Personally I wouldn't use it. But I am a sceptic and very cautious when it comes to money.
Have you read some of the tips to avoid scammers in the Marketplace? Some of his characteristics matches the warnings from other users.
Dave
dont do it..
one : The website is very poorly created, if he was a legitimate business he would more than likely use an e-commerce store.
two : googlemail email, hotmail msn, mobile numbers as contact numbers, meaning no trace back.
three : the address... he lives in a very remote place....
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...106062,0.16977&spn=0.001101,0.003455&t=h&z=18
four : a UK company trading in dollars? considering the seller would stitch himself up on the exchange rate this is definately something to question...
five : in looking up the details etc he posts randomly on forums and seems very similar to the typical
"we are an established company founded in "DATE" we are respectable and blah blah blah"
be careful.
oh and six? why western union?
and check this out..
http://www.adoos.de/post/5888156/apple_macbook_air_core_2_duo_186_ghz_133_quot_2_gb
hmmmm
Its a SCAM.
Just been on tv in Denmark. Guys like that want you to transfer through a Money Transfer Company - and then you cannot find them afterwards as those Companies dont know who gets the money.
So in Denmark the word is; NEVER transfer any money that way. Only use reliable companies - payment through credit card as we can get money back if it is a scam...
And - they use webhotels in good countries as a cheat, but are often living i Romania and places like that... !
definately looks like another scam...be careful!
So, I am not gonna do it. He called me today asking for the money and I told him I'll send the money on monday! he was not talking like a sales guy, he was speaking like this: "hello, how are you? when will you send the money" he seemed to be like a bull**** on the phone, I am not going to risk it anyway!
Thanks for your advice guys, I appreciate it
I would not do it, only if I could consider that money is worth nothing to me...Western Union? legal company would use another method of payment...
And yes gmail hotmail adresses seems to be poor...
good luke and cross your fingers
I even once had trouble with Visa card, then how would you follow our order after Western Union?
If it sound to good to be true chances are it is . its got Scam Written All over it the

[Q] Is this legit?

is this a legit website?
i mean this is a crazy price! i would love for it to be true! lol
http://aspirebuy.com/us-productinfo.asp?id=7088
Dido
I was just surfing on the web and came across the same site, I would love to know as well!
I highly doubt its legit and being based in China would make communication difficult in case something went wrong...those prices are pretty much half the price in the states so I think its too good to be true. I could be wrong though, but I know I wouldn't take the chance.

is this online site legit?
According their certificate posted in their web site. The company name is: 北京金正外贸有限公司 Beijing JinZheng Foreign Trading Co. Ltd. The owner is 程亮.
Their listed address is listed as: No.7, Jinrong Street, Xicheng District, Beijing, China
中国北京市西城区金融街7号. 7 Jing Rong Daijie, Xi Cheng District (City West).
This is a large commercial building called Yinglan International Financial Center英蓝国际金融中心. Google map shows a large skyscraper building.
In this building, the major occupants are famous banks such as J.P. Morgan China, China Export Import Bank, China Industrial Commercial Banks. HSBC Banks. Well, they have a Starbucks.
Checking Chinese search engine BaiDu "Aspirebuy" or "Aspirebuy.com" are not listed. However, "Aspire" is model name of Acer Laptop Notebook Tablet.
Objectively, China has heavy import taxes of most foreign goods, typically over 33%. It would not be logical to source foreign products (such as Korean or Japanese or Taiwanese) export from China.
The most logical place to source these good are Hong Kong where impose no import tax on same goods.
Be wary of the internet

The site is reliable, but don't expect much quality (screen, construction, materials) or development options on Chinese phones (most of it will have to be made by yourself).
Look up on internet if there is a developers community for the specific model, but if this doesn't bother you, you like the features of the phone, and it's a good option for you (price), buy it.
Greetings,
I usually buy from Amazon, be careful with eBay there are some fake electronics there with poor quality, especially in terms od cheap chargers and phones.
Buyincoins.Com (china) is reliable in terms of delivery and payment. Also, free shipping and they know to mark stuff as a gift to avoid import costs.
Actually, about 70% of the stuff from DealExtreme (dx.com) comes from buyincoins. (it literally said so on both the packages I got from dx, but they charged me twice what buyincoins asked and took 6 weeks longer to get here.)
Just don't expect the pictures on the immitation products (like a nameless ipod) to be accurate.

[CLOSED][Q] Best website to sell phone online in India?

Hi,
I'm thinking about selling my smartphone online and wasn't sure which
website would give the best value and is also authentic.
Please note that I'm more interested in companies that directly buy your phones
and not individual bidders like ebay or olx.
Some such websites I've come across are:
http://www.atterobay.com
https://budli.in
http://www.karmarecycling.in
http://www.reglobe.in/
Can you tell me if you've had any experience with these websites
or if there's some other good site to sell your phones in India?
Thanks
eBay.in is good to sell smart phone
Thanks but like I said, I'm looking for non-ebay type websites
or companies that buy your phone directly.
