WM6.1 standard rom? - Wing, P4350 ROM development

I've posted a thread about installing standard on a ppc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2308611#post2308611
Its been proven that you can install professional on a smartphone. I was wondering if you could do it the other way around.
Ivan, Itje, Papamopps, ttran, other cooks- any ideas?

you would obviously be missing the touchscreen, so what;s the point?

if your touchscreen is broken, you can't get past the alignment screen

but usually the touchscreen gets broken together with the screen itself, so you'd need a repair anyway.
Plus I think that wm6 prof's touchscreen ability really adds a lot of extra usability, so i would always get it repaired.
anyway, i was asking what is the point of trying to get prof on a wm6 standard device? you would miss the touchscreen so you are missing out on a lot of functionality, plus a lot of programs are completely not designed to not use the screen, thus leading to excessive key presses

Actually, I have seen a wings touchscreen go bad without damage to the physical screen.
Also, while there would be more keypresses, there would also be an added benefit of using more powerful programs if one could get pro on their smartphone device.
So, yeah, going to have to disagree with you twice there...

Jline, i assume you mean smartphone on your pro device. Anyway, theoretically, everything WOULD run faster, depending on the kind of pull the program wants.
I personally would like it because i find the wm pro interface a bit clunky and slow and i don't want to install all kind of software that ultimately makes it slower.

okey dokey! got some info from l3v5y about this
he says you can cook a rom with smartphone's core and oem and ppc's sys folders. The trick is, i believe, to use a core from a device that has a qvga screen. That would mean a wings or a juno (both have slideout keyboards and the wings is practically in ppc configuration anyway. the juno doesnt have the number pad, though, which the wings does)

...this could mean Neo on the Wing! haha That would be pretty amazing.

hmm... just the idea of Neo might make me actually create this ROM... I was thinking of creating a phone less one, as well... for people who have a broken radio or don't have it with a provider and want it as a PDA. But of course... I'm already in more projects that I have time to work on... Which reminds me... I haven't finished my application to the university I'm transfering to next semester.... umm... yea...

I can see this project as easily achieveable..but how would rotation work? That is one thing that baffles me. This should definietly be taken somewhere. I'd lose my touchscreen for neo...maybe. Or someday get a Shadow 2. hm..

well, the HTC wings (fittingly) is a smartphone with essentially kaiser hardware with a slideout keyboard.
I'd gladly lose the touchscreen for ease of use.
maybe one of the junior rom cooks (the ones that are still in high school) can help us!

I would so help...if I knew how to cook. But I don't.
What good is a summer with nothing to do?

Theoretically, it's easy. Theoretically. The theoretically bit is the reason why i don't do it myself.
THEORETICALLY, what you do is you take a standard rom, extract it into SYS, OEM, and XIP and do the same with a herald rom. Then you can take the OEM from the herald, the sys from the smartphone, and port the smartphone's XIP to the herald.
Seems simple, right? Ivan seems to be the resident expert on this. It's a shame he's so busy

UPDATE!
I just tried to cook myself such a rom.
TOTAL EPIC FAILURE
for some reason, my pc has this aversion to extracting roms via hypercore so i have to do it manually. bah.
Oh also, XIP hates me

That scares me. As easy as it sounds...I would like to not destroy my Wing in the process. haha

as long as your wing is hard spl'd destroying it is harder than cooking itself
no worries there, i'm just clueless

that would be pretty cool.
i would like to have this style for the today/home screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
just adding touch functionality to it. and a sliding motion to go accross emails, texts, etc would be nice too.
there is also something else i want to see done....a few things actually:
1)A hardware mod for the Wing adding an accelerometer to it
-you know that would be pretty amazing to have one on the Wing
2)Another hardware mod with a front camera installed for video calling
-that would be perfect. the select button on the d-pad can act as a vanity mirror so you can make sure they can see you.
3)A ROM with touch gestures (like WM 7 is going to have)
-of course when it gets released, i know its going to get on the Wing ASAP lol but whats stopping one of us from doing it?
4)Another hardware modification cutting out the lower part of the phones casing and adding a bigger (longer) touch screen to it.
-as you can see there is a piece at the bottom. just cut that out and put in a larger touch screen. the bigger the better.
5)And finally another hardware mod that puts in a better processor for the Wing.
-and this would tie it all together. the processor on the Wing only does 200mhz and you can increase that to 247mhz with no problem. But if we added a better processor thats average speed was 247mhz just imagine what we could do. A Wing processing over 300mhz would be lag free and nice to play with lol.
thats my wishlist for the Wing but i doubt any of it will happen (aside from WM 7 being ported to it lol)

actually, wm7 might not even make it due to hardware restrictions (wm7 wants all sorts of crazy hardware)
I think we should just stick to the non-touch standard layout because i hate my touchscreen but i love the keyboard, and my other wing's touch screen doesn't even work. Both are HSPL'd, luckily.
You're a rom cook, right? Could you just make a barebones kind of rom? You could base it off an existing rom smartphone rom so all the fixes are already in there!

I highly doubt [Se7en] would run at an acceptable pace on the Wing's anemic hardware. lol It's like watching Manilla run at 0.35 fps on a Kaiser. Like molasses so delicious yet so slow. hahah xD
You can do that right? I mean to say having the Sliding Panels and Neo? I would assume that they wouldn't conflict each other? Then the crappy default homescreens could be removed to just leave Neo and Sliding Panels. I would assume it would also run a little bit faster? [Standard on a Professional Device]
I'd love to try this, but if Fzzyrn can't do I probably really have no chance.

actually, i have the technological competence of a betamax
i want the sliding panels myself.

Pointui ?? A new wm interface ?

Hey guys, dont know if anyone has come across this yet but for those who havent it looks like there may be a new interface for your wm device. Its called Pointui but as yet theres not a lot of info just a youtube vid and some screen shots on flicker, the web site just shows a countdown to what apperes to be the new year but by the look of the screens it might be something to keep your eye on
Youtube link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pUBWYErW3s
Flicker link :http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/
Web site :http://there-is-no-place-like-home.com/
I must say after having look at it, I'd be very intrested to try this out when its released. It looks very slick
WOW I'm surprised that there has been less buzz about this. I'm intrigued!
Yes, seems to be inspired by the iPhone but no proof to say its a Windows Mobile device?
Regards,
Carty..
If you click on the youtube uploaders username and look at the other vid you can see that its running on a Wizard
Wizard specs..
Processor: OMAP850 - 195Mhz
Memory: 128 MB of ROM and 64 MB of RAM
Should run fine on my Orbit !!
Interesting
Looks promising. I wonder if it is flash driven or C+ coded. A little strange how the video shows him sliding his finger to the right and the screen animation goes left?? That would drive me nuts!

...Also, you'll note very shortly into the demo the "Windows Mobile Settings" menu option...
I watched the video a couple of times and it seems to move very smoothly and quickly. I really like the way it works...........HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Thanks for the positive feedback. I'd say its more inspired by frustration of what I call Windows 3.11 Syndrome and poor excuses for performance because they have limited memory and slower cpus.
Never used an iPhone, sure looks nice. Not sure about user interaction consistency across all their apps which is something we hope to achieve with our framework.
Rest assured this is running on Windows Mobile. Unlike so many others we haven't forgotten those with Windows Mobile 2003.

And Active Sync as option two on this one:

Wow--amazing ui. I share your frustration with the Win 3.11 syndrome but I hate that other people keep using the iPhone comparison. The iPhone is like a new puppy--everyone loves it because it's cute and could do simple things (email, web, music, movies, pictures, oh calls too). After awhile, then what? Everyone here can name 100 things their PDA/Phone can do more than the iPhone--except on tiny little thing....and that's doing it with style! Swipe here, roll there, flip here, touch there, whatever which way.
Pointui will complete my PDA and will probably get more people to buy a Win Mobile device now that it's balanced with usability and functionality. Thanks, can't wait for Jan 1.
Dorothy, can you give us any idea as to when you'll be offering this up to the public, and are you planning this as a freeware app or will you be charging for use?
simplicity05, the answers to your questions can be found at there-is-no-place-like-home.com
I checked that just a few hours ago and all it had was a timer counting down to the new year haha!
Oh My God. This looks so freaking sweet!
Im sure you guys have clicked it but heres the link to the pointui main site http://www.pointui.com/
Says it will be available for download as soon as the clock from no place like home reaches 0. Wooo.
If it runs that fast on a 195mhz device, thats great news. All these iPhone clones run slow on my 247mhz orbit (overclocked) ... so, looking forward to this one.
Im back again
Just watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRw1T-N5dic
Seems it uses the standard WM phone pad, which sucks, hope they do there own phone pad/full phone system thing. Also, wonder how the text messages/email is handles, hopefully not the standard WM outlook??? Any guys in the know about this?
The scrolling/changing screens by sliding your finger seems counter-intuitive. I like how on my touch I grab and pull to the side of the cube I want, this Pointui looks like it is grab and push towards the place you want to go, very awkward...
Other than that, it looks very interesting!
Actually I think that scrolling the finger to go to the next screen is really sleek and intuitive.
And the speed is amazing! Really smooth, even on a Wizard! OMFG! These guys know how to program
From the screenshots and video I only miss some antialiasing on some text (top text saying "telstra", and some text on the initial screen), and it would be great to integrate further apps into Home, like the phone and messages (read, write, send).
I think this will be, again, one of those applications that disappoint the moment I press one of the "system menu" buttons and end up in the WM6 menu without any transition.
Becaus then, it just doesn't make any sense... Man, being all happy that you can go through the menu with your finger just to find out that if you REALLY want to make system changes you have to use the old stylus again sucks.
I think all the iPhone cloning is a massive backleash...

Kaiser or Cruise?

I am very confused reading all the foroums, both Kaiser and Cruise.
I really dont know which one to buy.
My only concern for Kaiser is its weight and thickness. I dont mind the lack of FM radio on Kaiser. But the keyboard is it really handy.
On the other hand can you really type on cruise without the keyboard?
Is there any difference on the screen. I mean, is the Screen of the Cruise more touch sensitive? Is the Cruise more responsive to finger tapping?
Also, Is there any difference using them in direct sunlight?
Apart from the keyborad and FM radio are there any other significant differences? The Cube u can also have on Kaiser.
Please advise
Thanks
I am a proud owner of TC. It is my first WM phone and if you ask me, go for TC. You can read the screens very clearly in deep sun shine, GPS is good. One big question is virtual KB or hard KB. I would say it would take couple of days to get used to virtual KB. After that it is cool. For me weight is a big factor.
Few things which i noted is the camera functioanlity. Its bit slow. Picture quality with no light just OK. But i dont use camera for taking pictures.
All in All I would say go for TC, it is handy, more powerful device than Kaiser...
I have neither but from what I want/need the Polaris is the one for me because:
1. I don't type more than 5 sms/emails a day on average and there are plenty of good on screen keyboards to choose from.
2. The touchflo on kaiser is software only whilst it's hardware on the Polaris like the original Touch (Elf).
3. Smaller and more pocket friendly.
4. Less professional looking or more stylish.
5. Screen is good under sunlight.
So in a nutshell, if you don't type much and want to use your fingers mainly with the device go for the Polaris.
it may just be me but i find typing using phonepad when it comes to sms's
alot easier then the still kinda tiny keyboard of the pdas well with keyboard
guess a touch dual with t9 would be even faster but then i dont type that many
sms's a day
and i like the specs of tc more then nike
and i like the size of tc better then i like kaiser
I had a Kaiser and am waiting for my TC. The Kaiser is a very good device. For me the weight was just too much to handle.
Well, for what it's worth, personally I really like the HTC keyboard with xt9. I can type much faster on it that most of the other onscreen keyboard I've tried. And for the first time in my life it actually felt really good (the typing) and getting near the experience of using a hardware keyboard.
Ofcourse it's still typing on a touch screen with no key feedback, but it does that very well. Needs a little bit of getting used to, but I type quite some text messages with it now. It's much much better than the standard keyboard that comes with WM, those small keys were just awkward even with a stylus.
Also the screen is quite good on the Cruise. Very sensitive as well (in a positive way!). Also looks good in sunlight. But the device gets fingerprints quite fast, but that is to be expected and no big deal. Could make it a little bit harder to see in direct sunlight, but a fast wipe with a cloth fixes that.
Also the weight is not that much at all. I expected the device to be more heavy and was surprised it was this light.
Hope this helps a bit . But don't forget, I'm biased! I already have a Cruise
Has anyone found any side-by-side photos of the kaiser and polaris?
'' The touchflo on kaiser is software only whilst it's hardware on the Polaris like the original Touch (Elf).''
Is it really a hardware difference of is it just a software???/

It's mainly a software issue. The only hardware difference is the type of the screen surface.

perfect! thanks what about depth-wise?
Had to add my two cents.
I found that the Kraiser is heavier than my 8525 but that also brings a sense of strudiness. I felt like i could drop the kaiser and not break it. I am in the same boat of chosing between either device. I also found that i can type fairly quickly with touchpal. Has anyone used it on teh Cruise. The only issue i have with it on my current device is the fact the the borders on teh phone get in the way of finger swiping. On the cruise the bezel is level with the screen right? its all a toss up. Can you live without a keyboard. Other than that i havent touched a cruise.
Does anyone know of a US availblty or carrier?

Raphael vs Universal

Hi!
I've been using my uni from the past couple years or more and am waiting to switch to the raph. I need to wait for another 15-20 days before i can get my hands on one (and thats killing me :-( ) and until I do, I was hoping that someone who's made the jump from a uni can shed some light on how it compares.
EDIT: Most importantly, can someone compare the two keyboards???
Cheers,
San
difficult....
The Universal keyboard is superb but bigggggggggggg.
I like the Raphael keyboard very much. Had a lot of problems with the TytnII. No numbers without the function key and easily I touched one of the hardware keys, entering in a menu etc.
This is all solved by the Raphael.
I may want to remap the sms and mail key in spacebar or so. I type them accidentally now and then, entering in those programs. But I can live with it
Huib
I also have a universal and have found no other phone that is as complete as it is 3+ years on from when I got it but with the extended battery pack on I am a little sick of the brick type comments I get and fancy a change.
However the limitations of the touch diamond mean I am only seriously considering the Touch Pro but the current £500 sim free price tag is too much - waiting for some decent conrtract deals..
Is the touch pro actually that much smaller than the universal in real world use? Anyone have any pictures of them side by side?
With a Windows 6.1 rom on (tomal!) the universal it really flies, does everything I need (apart from maybe HDSPA 3g occasionally) so if anyone has both it would be great to give us some comaparisons...

Much, much smaller. Nothing negative said about good old Universal.
But it comes with an extremely handly pouch that you can keep in your shirtpocket after having taken the Raphael out.
It is a small but very handy thing.
And you get a lot of extra tools, like GPS etc.
I also own a TytnII, and I miss some buttons, but this TouchPro ..... brrrrr.
I also believe that battery life in 3g mode is acceptable now. But I could not fully test it.
With both Universal and TytnII it was unworkable and I could only use GPRS/GSM to save battery live.
And GPRS and MSN MEssenger bite each other and were giving me many missed calls. Data and voice are impossible in GPRS mode.

Thanks for the replies guys.
That sizeasy site is cool adamdon89 - I have bookmarked it
Minds made up - just need a decent offer on a UK contract now then!
If the picture doesn't do it for you, volume-wise, the Universal is ~275% the size of the Touch Pro. That is, grind some Touch Pros up (no, please don't actually try it!) and you could almost fit 3 Touch Pros in the space of the Universal.
thanks for your feedback guys!
can someone specifically answer on these lines, in comparison to a universal -
1. Overall device speed, through menus, launching proggies etc.
The uni is quite sluggish in my opinion....is the TP a lot more responsive??
2. Keyboard layout...
Minor changes, no windows key, no OK button.....does this feel like a huge loss in happiness?
3. Keyboard usability...
how does it really feel when compared to a uni's keyboard? The uni has a fairly large keyboard....now, using the TP, do you find it really hard to type on?
4. Is the OS a lot more stable?
I hope so! My Uni on wm6.1 is usually a nightmare....crashes atleast 5 times a day (i have a bad rom now i guess)
cheers & thanks again!
San
i had the Uni swapped it for a tytnII i wished i did't now i have the touch im happy again.
it is defently faster than my uni that ran wm6
the only complaint i had with the uni was its size, i find the touch just right.

Crocodile keyboard

Found on The Register:
Very cunning idea: "each triangular key has significantly more dead space around it than you’d find on a standard Qwerty layout. Consequently, users are more likely to press the correct key each time they tap."

Essentially the keyboard takes up the same amount of space, but it's easier not to fat-finger more than one key at a time. I would love to see this for touchscreen-only Android phones. It's patented, sadly (and destined for the iPhone), which begs the question: how hard would this be to implement on the sly? Essentially you're just re-skinning the keyboard, after all.
If you were just reskinning the keyboard then the touchable area would be the same and you would still fat-finger touch the other keys. You would also have to make the touch area different.

Hell, it might even be worth keeping the visual layout the same and just changing the touchable area; I was thinking of "reskinning" as both, largely because I've seen three different keyboards for the magic so far in different ROMs, at least two of which have different touchable areas due to having different keys.
Personally I just wished that the keyboard looked and behaved the same as the iPhone... In the Google firmware, the buttons are too small and responds differently, mostly it doesn't even recognize me pressing the keys...don't know if it is because it lacks multitouch or something..

Easy peasy!
Skiing a KB is actually quite easy..... several ways to do it but essentially there is one image for each type of key press- its just a matter of editing them in an image editor program- there is a thread about editing KBs in the dream themes and wallpapers section.
Crocodile Keyboard
Hi there,
Its good to get some feedback on my keyboard, some reports give the idea that I only want to get it put onto the iphone, but in reality, I want to get it used as the default keyboard on every touch screen phone.
The website at www.crocodilekeyboards.com was set up because it is almost impossible to show big companies new ideas as they all seem to hide behind the unsolicited ideas rulebook.
You would think that they would actively encorage inventors with a half decent idea by setting up a simple contact point for evaluation purposes.
I had to go public with the idea just to get it in front of them.
The UK patent covers not just the shape of the keys but also the area around them, it also covers variations of the triangular shape.
There seems to be a real need for this keyboard, everyone seems to hate predictive text and touch screens are definately the way forward.
so are you gonna release it for android any time soon?

Good luck! I look forward to trying it out and seeing how it works in practice. It would be nice to be able to move my fat digits a little faster on the screen!
It doesn't matter what the picture of the keyboard looks like. If you don't actually make the space/key bigger, then it won't make any difference. Applephone keyboard is a little easier because the screen is A LITTLE BIGGER.... physically. It has a larger screen. Thats what makes it easier.
Crocodile Keyboard
The actual size of the button is less important than you think.
There is a neat optical effect with the croc board were you see the triangular space around the key which makes it look much bigger, this then gives you a visual clue where the button is as you place your finger over it.
Many people have less than perfect vision and anything that helps determine the button position should help.
As an experiment, put your standard qwerty keyboard on a photocopier and print out a copy. (The full keyboard on my website, www.crocodilekeyboards.com, has a croc version of Apple's aluminium blutooth keyboard)
Then, using a felt tip pen change half the keys on the first few rows to croc keys and compare to the standard keyboard. You will see that you could reduce this on your copier by at least 40% and still easily use the croc keys but start to struggle with the standard ones.
Crocodile Keyboard
I have a question.
Crocodile Keyboards have decided that thier first app will be for the Android powered touch screen phones but have noticed something a bit sneaky in the Android developers agreement.
If you go to:
http://www.android.com/us/developer-distribution-agreement.html
Now look at the last bit of 5.1, "Market and to use the Products to make improvements to the Android platform".
Does this mean that I am about to spend five weeks developing this app and Google can just decide to use it in Android for nothing?
Please somebody tell me I am wrong, I am still waiting for a response from google about this.
From reading it would say that it means they I.E. google can use it for administration and demo.
I'm no legal eagle but i would take it from that they can NOT just steal your idea....... and tbh i dont think it matters what it says i dont think a court would uphold that.
I have seen this keyboard before and the patent is rubbish under prior art.
http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/gallery/artoftrek/klingon-console-st5.jpg
RIM are trying other similar patents with hardware keyboards and three letters on a triangle key. For me this is a vile abuse of the patent system. To change the shape of a key and claim its a new idea is a pile of nonsense. Maybe I will invent and patent the parallelogram keyboard which is very like a triangle.
Krocodile Keyboard
Well untill Google get back to me saying anything different, then this distribution agreement is a contract to which I would be agreeing with. The courts will not agree to disolve an unfair contract just because one of the parties involved couldnt be bothered reading what they were signing.
I have just been speaking to my solicitor and his view is that they would be entitled under the contract to take my app off the store and use it in Android.
Come on Google, what is this?
I'd be more than happy to test it, outside of the market
I doubt google will be getting back to you. Though maybe the Klingons will be visting their solicitors or just come to blast you.
I bought it today, much better, I think. I was looking for an interface to change colors...is that possible? thanks, Cyn
well not many really people use it because either swype or the modified htc ime are still much superior - IMO none of the paid app keyboards are worth using

XDA Modified HTC IME
as you can see this is dead for a reason
swype is superior to anything because once you learn it, the only thing better is a physical keyboard for speed
run the tutorial from the swype settings and you will see why

Iphone-like calendar..EDIT: commercial WM appdesigns still quiet ugly in every case??

Hey folks!
I just wanted to ask if there´s any possibilty to get an Iphone-like calendar on my HD2. No, I dont´s want to start an anti-iphone war here, I do really just like the design of the calendar here^^ (seems not to force eye-cancer like many other calendar themes on WM ). I´m using Pocket Informant on my HD2 and it´s quite customizable, but I can´t get near this design:

Any Ideas/possibilities?
Yeah, its called Inesoft Calendar http://www.inesoft.com/eng/index.php?in=calendar.html
I used it on my Omnia a while back and its great.
Reason for changing the Threadtitle:
grmpf...it is getting harder and harder for me. most of the WinMobile applications are really looking bad, one worst than the other...how can people through such unfinished apps on the market please?
take a closer look on the Homepage of Inesoft..the "menu" and the "calendars" buttons are using uncommon fontsizes, on the one hand the fonts at the bottom/edge seem to be untouched, on the other hand the fonts in the middle seem to have cleartype activated
The colors (for me) are not well chosen...and there is NO possibility to customize that???
Same with thumbcal...NO possibility to change the fontsize...
Is the difference that big between developing an Iphone app and developing the same for WinMobile? Of course, I know the "unique hardware" thing with the Iphone...BUT: why do free developers out there bring up very nice and goog looking applications/themes, while the commercial developers sometimes don´t give a penny on perfection?
I do not understand this issue..
Apple has standard controls that are used while developing apps. In wm, the standard ones are bad. So companies develop their own or use others... so there's no consistency between apps and other issues you mention. Maybe you should get the iphone in stead of the HD2.

Why everytime argue in that way? ---> don´t get my wrong, as I said above, I don´t want to start an Iphone vs. WM war here...but I think nobody can´t deny the fact, that many of the WM applications are still looking old fashioned or unfinished...aren´t they?? And my question is: why is this? especially here. inesoft wants to compete with other calendar-suppliers. take a closer look on the link I´ve posted above...i´ve installed the demoversion, it looks horrible to me!! $13,95?
As I said: free devs are programming nice tools/themes and so on...commercials often don´t.

you seem to be starting that discussion yourself lol. I think the comment to get an iphone was kind and reasonable. If what you are looking for is apps that all look the same with the same buttons and fonts then an iphone is a good product for you. However, if you require functionality that only winmobile provides that is a different story. A better way to have responded, instead of pointing out that nobody can deny certain "facts" was begging for people to point out the fact that those aren't "facts" I am smiling while i write so i am in a fun loving mood, take my comments as you will but realize that you are talking to die hard winmobile folks who generally do not like Apple for many reasons beyond the iphone. cheers
Try SBSH calendar touch I think that one is customizable, It's not iphone like but you may like it.
I do realize that win mo apps aren't as nice looking as the ones on the iphone, and i wish they were, but i'm also able to get past this and realize that the functionality i get out of those apps or win mo is far greater.
And yes, i was kind with the "get the iphone" comment. No harm intended.
EDIT:
Let me explain once more.
A control is a button, a text box, a search field, a drop down list, a check box, a list and so on. Apple has made those controls in a very nice fashion and they are available to every developer. Microsoft's win mo controls look really bad so that's why many win mo developers make their own. Many try but fail. That's why apps look bad. We need to get beautiful standardized controls for win mo and we will see a change. I guess that's coming with WM7. Anyway, one software company that impressed me with their apps is SPB. I can also add Iconsoft in that category, with their Phonex.
Hey again!
Thank you both for your comments! I have to add that my written english is not that good, so if my postings above sounded upset i´m deeply sorry for that, this should just be based on my lack of "feeling the language"!! I´m in more than a funny mood too and I smiled while writing the comments, because I was afraid having become an unintended "victim" of these unfactual WinMo/Iphone discussion (there are more than enough on this world, the worries are eligible, aren´t they? )
@lorin.bute: Thank you for your explanation! I knew that point, and you are right, many win mo developers make their own controls here (what even could be an enrichment I think! ). That´s perhaps one of the main points I initially wanted to ask for...I don´t know what you have programmed/designed yourself, but i´m sure that you all know the intention, to make something "perfect". When these guys from Inesoft are designing some buttons (e.g. menu and calenders)...why the hell aren´t these buttons designed in the same way/with the same fonts? To use a consistent style within one program makes it more valuable, or am I wrong?
Yes, full agree, SPB are one of my most cherished developers for WinMo, ageye is doing a good job too.
