So I used hardspl v1 and then flashed dutty's wm6.1 hybrid v2 rom to my tytn. Everything went well and it is working fine but I wanted to try out some other roms. Do I need to do anything in particular before trying other roms. I've been doing research and can't find any information on what to do now. Do I need to hardspl again before I flash another rom? Thanks for the help, I realize that its a noob question.

No. You do not need any additional process before you flashing to another ROM.
Hard-SPL is just a safety procedure that ensure your Tytn II not to be a brick when you flashing ROMs. Since you've got a Hard-SPL, there's no need to flash another one unless the old Hard-SPL has some bugs.

Awesome. One more noob question. If I want to flash a rom that has a radio included that is a lower version than the one I have currently what do I need to do? Remove the radio from the rom or will it flash without issue?
If the ROM includes a radio, it will overwrite whatever you currently have. So no need to do anything else.

you just flash the new rom with the radio... if u dont like the radio you can always flash the radio you want later on.

Hi all,
I am having troubles updating my radio rom. This device has been a beta pre lease.
Current version is:
R: 0.24.00.05 (believe it or not...)
G: 22.23.40.00H
D: 1.56.00.00
I was able to load the kaiser cooked rom (but radio and camara are not working properly). I have Hard SPL for Kaiser loaded.
I've tried many roms, but they all fail at 95% with error [262]. And then I have to reload the cooked rom to get the system working again.
Anyone any suggestions?
Jeroen
do you have a Kaiser?
I don't think that is the correct radio for Kaiser ROMs. If so there may be special stuff cooked into the original ROM, just like the ATT Roms which use a specific radio.
read the sticky regarding radio's.
Yes, I have a Kaiser (loaded S.N.E. cooked rom)

I'll look some more in the sticky's about radio's.
Thanks,

(loaded this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357274)
that is not a Kaiser rom!! I'm surprised you didnt brick your device lol! Make sure your trying to flash a Kaiser RUU_signed.nbh that has only a OS.nb inside and then flash the radio.nb later...
read your reply
the link you provided to the "no evil" rom doesn't mention anywhere in the thread about the radio you are using. where did you get it?
recommended by thread author - radio 1.27.12.17
bought device on ebay
I know the radio is not compatible with the rom. That is why I want to update the radio.
It is just that the radio flash process hangs at 95%.
Best regards,
Jeroen
problem solved
At this location ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Kaiser/Radio/ I found a rom similar to the existing in my device: 0.26.07.06. This one worked, and afther that I was able to flash the version I wanted: 1.27.12.11.
I'm happy. My device is up to date and very quick with Alex's Utra clean rom!
Thanks for listening!
Jeroen
hmmmmmmmmmm
try a hard reset and flash before you customize (upon initial bootup) - maybe???
OK. I have a noob question that I couldn't find the answer for. I googled and searched the site. I've read quite a few of the threads here as well.
I'm coming to the Fuze from the 8525/Hermes. Now with that, I had to flash a stock ROM prior to every custom ROM. Is it that way with the Fuze as well?
Also, I understand that I need the HardSPL prior to flashing a custom ROM, but if I don't need the go off ATT, I really don't need super CID do I? There's no ExtROM with the Fuze?
Is there also a danger of bricking my Fuze be flashing too many radio ROMs, experimenting like there is with the Hermes/8525?
Again, thanks for your time.
I can't wait to start flashing my new toy.
Jim
You need to HardSPL the Fuze before flashing any ROMs. I don't have any experience with the 8525 so can't relate to what you had to do. I did have the Tilt and I had to do the same thing on the Tilt - flash a HardSPL before flashing ROMs.
You also don't need to flash a stock ROM prior to flashing a cooked ROM. Just flash straight and you're fine.

Thanks.
Just wanted to make sure so I don't brick my phone.
The thing about flashing stock ROM was going from Big Storage to Non Big Storage. I even had a stripped stock ATT ROM with no radio because the Hermes board reported bricks from repeatedly flashing radios.
Thank and again, sorry for the noob question.
Jim
Correct, you needed to flash the Hermes with a stock rom when switching between a big storage and non big storage rom. You won't have that issue with the Raphael.
Its a rule of thumb to flash with the stock rom before another custom, just so you are sure nothing is left behind. Although, by the way some of us flash, theres not that much time to do this.
I believe someone on the tilt forums explained all this in a thread about how the circuitry worked and how flashing will do to it. There isn't an exact number on how many times you can flash it, but just like any other device, the more the use, it will die down sometime. I believe that number in the thousands, but who knows if someone flashes that many times.

Your stock ROM will stay untouched if you flashed HardSPL, it only affects your ability to flash radios and cooked ROMS
Your ROM experience will vary based on whatever ROM you choose, you can make your own ROM based on what you want by using a kitchen. I would say to go for Da_G's 6.5 ROM, or At0mAngs 6.5 ROM.
You can use any radio with any ROM, and you will be able to make calls, you just might not have the best coverage. Try out every radio to see which is the best for you.
you flash a radio in the exact same way that you flash a ROM, it doesnt erase any of your data though, just changes the radio. Nothing will happen if you dont flash a radio and a ROM, they are two separate things.
ok thx! i tried the rom from my first post with that radio because on the rom page he said that i NEED this rom or sometin...
Only 1 problem... if i type a txt message the 1 on the hardware keyboard directs me to the start menu?! while i'm typing! the rest from 1 to 0 are all different but i cant use them to type nuimbers?
Do you have a fuze or a touch pro?
They have two different keyboard layouts, and you might need to adjust some settings to fix it.
i have a eur touch pro
Dont worry

RULE NUMBER 1:No matter what anybody says, try the radio out first because different radios have different results across the world.
As for the radios: hard-spl your phone before you add any rom then flash your radio. Some ROM's don't include radios :-(.

What do you mean by fix?
i dont know i ijust want to fix my keypad problem... oh i found out that the CAPS key has become the Fn and the Fn key has become the windows key...
so is there a way?
???????????????????????
ProFuze KB. look it up
thx i'll try that
THANK YOU~~!!!!!! it finally worked!!!! thank you i can use the number keys again!!! thx!!!

Hello there. So I have been reading on how to flash a Touch Pro 2.
The Version I have is the Unlocked T7373. Serial # HT96xxxxxxxxx
I have downloaded HardSPL from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
The ROM I intend to use is here - http://htcpedia.com/ruu_rhodium_s_htc_europe_wm65/soft/htc-rhodium-rom.html?page=1
My question is will this version of Hard SPL work with my phone. And after I flash it all I have to do is sync the phone with my desktop and run the rom update ?
I saw a guy brick his phone here so I dont want to do that. Thanks in advance.

As long as your phone is GSM and not CDMA that is the Hardspl.
Just read and follow these steps and you will not brick your phone . mskip is the man when it comes to handholding noobs during their first flash. Just follow the steps and the links and happy flashing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
Did the flash in 5 mins and worked
Much thanks for your advice man. The flash worked. Now my question is if i flash a wrong rom or cooked rom will it briick the phone. Can you give me a link to download a cooked rom? My phone is GSM. T7373. People post cooked roms but they dont post the exact version of the rom or for what phone it is for. Thanks again.
Once your phone is Hardspl'd it is near impossible to" brick it ".
Only flash roms from the rom development section in the Rhodium forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=490
All roms are posted in the phone forums they are meant for.
The Energy rom series is definitely the most popular, but twopumpchump is my favorite chef. Now that you are Hardspl'd try one or try them all until you decide for yourself which one you like best. Flash, live with it for a couple of days and then flash another. it will not hurt your phone. I have flashed mine hundreds of times.
I will try the Energy Rom
Will give it ago with the flavors you suggested. Thanks.
ive searched and havent really found anything on this but i was wondering if you can flash a fuze on a vista 64bit laptop and another question. I downloaded a rom it was called "Energy.RAPHAEL.23557.Sense2.5.Cookie.HomeTab.Apr.14" i was wondering if i have to flash a radio after i flash that rom or is it an all in one rom any help will be much appreatied thanks
For the first question, yes. I've Flashed ROMs using Vista x64 and Win7 x64. No issues yet-to-date.
For the second question, be safe. Flash the new Radio BEFORE you flash the Energy ROM.
thank you for the replay ive read the radios form but im still not sure which ones will work for a fuze could you please tell me a radio that will work

Do yourself and us some favor:
Read this thread at least the first few posts
Know if your phone is hardSPL'd or not
Know how to backup and restore your contacts
ROM and Radio are independent, almost all ROMs come WITHOUT Radio so a new ROM wont override your Radio and vice versa
Stay with a 21xxx ROM in the beginning
If the flash with your vista PC doesn't work, flash from SD card (use search to find out how - hint: read what I linked already).
Raphael and Cingular Radios will work on the Fuze B U T none of the Blackstone, Quartz and Xperia will for them you'll need hardSPL AND a CID unlocked phone!!!
I H I G H L Y suggest hardSPL prior trying to flash ANY ROM here in the forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im pretty sure my phone is already hardslp it was already flashed to a energy rom when i bought it thank you for the reply
Cool that saves you some reading.
What's left is a good Radio rilphone combo (try 14.25.05 Radio) and a ROM you like. As said I'd start with a 21xxx based one (either Sense 2.1 or 2.5). There are plenty around.
Thank you I think I got all the information I need except on the back up program to use I have sprite backup but I've read that some people have problems with that is there any better ones to use and if I back up my phone cuz I use the backup on the rom I flash to?
It depends on what data/information you wish to keep.
If you wish to keep your Contacts, Calender Entries, Texts, Pictures, etc.. Use Microsofts' MyPhone Service. *Recommended*
If you wish to keep all of the above + installed Apps, & Registry Settings, I'd suggest checking out SPB Backup. *Not Recommended :: Registry Conflicts may Occur*
ok so i think i got all the info i need im going to try to flash my phone now im not going to do a hardspl cuz it was flashed to an energy rom when i bought it
Sounds good. Hope all goes well.
Be sure to reply with updates.. or if you need any further assistance.
everything went great! happy with my new rom had no problems flashing at all thanks everyones for your help!
Glad we could help you.
Moved as not ROM Development.
