[UPG]USPL for ELFIN - Only for the brave ones

Hi everybody,
I made up a new version of pof's USPL for ELFIN based on SPL 2.20.0000. You should be able to flash SPL in the third step now.
Why a new version? Because USPL v1 is only for ELF (64/128MB), but not for ELFIN (128/256MB). Flashing the old ELF SPL in step three on a new ELFIN used to brick your device.

ummmmm i just used to use the old uspl v1 and exit after step 3 than flash my rom, if you guys are really keen on testing this my new elfin will be here today or on monday and i will try it with my old one just to piss of rogers

I think that a Elfin dopod owner can test this without problems, because if don't work he can flash the complete (and signed) dopod rom from bootloader to restore the original SPL...

i have a elfin locked on bootloader screen....can change my spl with this??

what ??? the UPSL 1.0 is for Elf only and not Elfin ??? what i dont understand is what do you guys mean quit at step 3 ??? I flashed my Elfin with UPSL 1.0 with all steps for more than 6 times so far and nothing has happen so far ... my SPL is the 2.20.2000 one ...

that´s wrong.
You flashed those roms containing the USPL (start.bat). They automaticly quit the 3rd step and go directly to the Rom Utility to flash the new ROM.
If you use POF´s USPL v1 and you don´t quit after step 3, the patched Bootloader will be flashed from your devices RAM to the ROM, and this wil brick your ELFin. If you have done this, your actual IPL or SPL would be 1.11.xxx...

Sorry: could someone explain me whether it is strictly needed to use the USPL unlock (the one are treated in this post) to flash the PDA?
I mean: the bootloader in the rom package is not able to do that?

we need some thing to unloack direct from boot loader and no need to active sync

as far as i know this is not possible, cause you can´t access bootloader files...in bootloader mode.
same on pc, you can´t delete or replace files, which are open/inuse by another program...

The Rom Packages u can get here don´t contain a bootloader...and even if they would, the bootloader or the rom would have to match your model ID for flashing it to your device....so yes, it´s stricktly needed to CID unlock to flash Custom ROMs or ROMs with other vendor IDs.

Could someone help me? The USPL is needed for the flashing of ROM, or is it enough the bootloader of the ROM?

Hi all, not that i think myself insane but i have tried the USPL for my Elfin 128/256 Touch a few days ago . I have followed the steps and the screen turned white as mentioned by the installer after that it booted up fine again.
Everything seems to be working fine!
However, i have not seen any change to the device..

You don't see any change in the device.... but if USPL works you can flash ANY rom from bootloader directly executing RomUpdateUyility, you don`t need to boot windows, activesync and white screen (temporary SuperCID) to flash, try.....
Go to RUU directory and execute RomUpdateUtlity instead of RUN.bat and see if you can flash any rom without 3% (corrupted) error....

Ok,
Now another problem.
I managed to upgrade my rom. But after doing so i replace my backup and now it boots but stops in the HTC screen.
I can start it back into bootloader mode, but I cannot reflash it because of the invalid vendor ID error.
How can I fix this ?
or does anyone have the standard Dutch Rom ?

I did a Hard reset by keycombination....
Prob Solved as well

My Pharos is dead. after I Flash rom
After reboot it show htc logo and turn to white screen with a short sound
I can't anything after that
The sync is lost
I hard reset but everything the same

try this:
turn off the phone, press and hold camera button + green button + power button until bootloader screen appears. At this point plug the usb cable and try to flash official WWE ROM...
Cross the fingers and wait..

[UPG] READ BEFORE FLASHING! Hard-SPL 2.28/3.10/etc - yes with overwrite protection :)

well so finally here's a real hardspl =)
it's based on USPL's - new feature is overwrite protection. so devices won't get bricked if flashing a full shipped rom. the version after flashing this will be "xx.xx.cmon" (ending in cmon).
btw, this uses same CID patches as the 3.07 USPL made by htctouchp but i removed modelid patch after determining it wasn't necessary (makes it safer by not allowing to flash other devices' roms).
also thanks to htctouchp for testing this hardspl.
NOTE that shipped roms with SPL.NBH included will fail to flash until the SPL.NBH is removed (in the past this would have resulted in a brick, now hardspl protects you from this).
also, all these hardspl's include the size patch to allow flashing smaller images via RUU!
usage: download from attachment, flash with pof sspl, enjoy
or if you already have some version of uspl, then just use that to update straight to hardspl. (but after installing hardspl you will always have to use sspl if you want to change spl version, see detailed instructions below.)
more detailed instructions:
this is to flash any SPL: either update to hardspl this way or flash another spl over hardspl. (copied from other post)
0. make sure your device is synced to activesync!!
1. Run the elf-uspl.exe from ELF_USPL_2.26.0000.zip
2. Watch Screen and Press Enter When Asked.
3. Screen should Jump to White on Phone and on PC Flashing Loading Bar will Show.
4. Stuck in Black Ducky Loading Screen?, check Active Sync Connection or Do a hard reset on Phone first. But be sure to do the last Actual Flashing in White Screen. Sometimes this needs a few tries to go through white screen.
5. Done.
UPDATE: 2.26 and 2.28 hardspl's: 2.28 is best if 3.x versions don't seem to work on your device. very stable because it seemed to work on any elf/elfin so far.

UPDATE: 3.10 HSPL: Aman found a new SPL update and ported my hacks to it, thanks attached to this post too.
UPDATE: 3.14 HSPL: Aman found yet another new SPL update and again ported my hacks to it; newest attachment in this post. new feature: cool picture while device is charging!! if you don't like the idea of the device being on in bootloader when it's not in use just charging the battery, you can stick to 3.10 or 2.28.
[SIZE=+2]IMPORTANT: 2.26 and 2.28 are for both Elf and Elfin, but 3.07 and 3.10/3.14 sometimes don't work on 64mb Elf so if you have that device, test with USPL version first[/SIZE]

as mentioned by cmonex, u need to use SSPL to flash another SPL i.e. elf-uspl.exe, the white screen method, which u were using before to flash the USPLs.

i don't have an Elf to test... anyway i'm also working on HSPL 2.26 and 2.28 for those who only use USPL 2.26 or 2.28 . once i finish, will send them to cmonex for approval.

After hard-spl...simple question

I everybody i'm new here but it's fantastic.plenty of helpful things.OK that's my question:I have a kaiser and i flashed the hard spl and it's ok.i got in the bootloader:
KAIS130 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8
So it's ok,the bootloader is patched.now,i have windows mobile 6,and i want to install the ROM "tir 8k ITA",from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437860 and i read it was windows mobile 6.1
So my question is:do i have to upgrade to wm 6.1 and then flash the rom or i just do it without upgrading?Thnks bye

No you don't. The ROM you're looking at will install 6.1 for you. Read his instructions on that link and if you have a problem, post it in that thread.

Each chef will let you know if they included the radio or not. If they didn't include one, they will tell you which one is recommended and more than likely will give you a link to that radio....hope this helps...

Most roms come with a radio but some don't, read the rom thread and then go here to flash the recommended radio.

Perfect now i flash the radio and then i reboot and then i flash the ROM with the tir 8k?Can i let the pda turn on after installing the radio or this may cause problems?Gr8 Thanks bye

Please read the flashing first ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835 all the steps are there.

If you're flashing a WM6.1 rom you may also want to change your hardSPL from 1.0.OliPof to one of the 3.xx series SPL's. The older SPL can cause some newer roms to hang, slow down etc. I use SPL3.29 which works fine form most WM6.1 roms.

Problem:I have a TIM sim,but the pda still connects to the 3 tim band.Before i had the 3 brand rom but now i should be able to connect to the band i want.why can't i?Thanks bye

flash the 3.xx spl the same why you flashed 1.0...it wont format ur device, meaning all your "stuff" will still be there...no need to re-flash the rom..

Well,before i reflashed the tir 8k rom and hardspl, i had the default rom with windows mobile 6.i have as phone operator TIM and so the sim card is TIM.but when it turned on it was always used to connect to 3g tim,which is not my connection,because i have a TIM sim card.so i realised that if i would have installed the new rom no brand,i could have connected to the TIM connection,NOT 3g TIM connection.Why still it connects to 3g tim even if i flashed the no brand rom?Why it behaves like before when it was brand 3?Help i explained better...Thanks bye

How to downgrade from WWE 3.04 to WWE 3.03 ?

i have saw this uninstallation, but have something i dun understand, so any one please help me.
Uninstallation
*Enter bootloader mode on device (Press POWER + CAMERA + RESET, you will see Serial/USB at top and 1.0X at bottom)
*Connect via USB to PC
*Install ORIGINAL 1.12 or 1.13 ROM. No big storage etc. Install original one!!
[YOU *MUST* REPLACE ROMUpgradeUt.exe TO MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe]
*Now you can flash any other old custom roms.
NOTE: This is ONLY ONE right instruction how to uninstall my rom, otherwise you can have problems with new rom.
the highlighted part i don't know where to get the original.
anyone can guide me on more in detail how to downgrade ?

Just install WWE 3.03 ROM. I did it on my magician (problem with 3.04 and SAMSUNG touchscreen) and it works fine.

just flash 3.03 just like you flash 3.04..

I hope this would help, I've found the Original wm2003 ROM in other forum, I've downgraded sucessfully after installing Cotulla's WWE 3.03 ROM on my Magician.

Please note that you can extract the .exe and be sure that you wont use the included ROMUpgradeUt.exe. Use MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe instead. You can get it from here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade.
