Question about Radio Rom Versions and OS compatiblity! - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Sorry for my bad English!
I have a very hard question!
How i can make a OS compatible with old 1.27 Radios if it works with 1.58, 1.59 and 1.64 Radio Roms. Its must a driver problem.
I need it, for Wifi Development on a HTC NIKI. We must use old pre product radios to get wifi up and running. If we use so old versions ... no sound ... no ringing.
Next ... i can try to port the new 1.65 radios for niki.

which RADIO is BETTER? 15, 17, or 18

I have downloaded the 3 version of RADIO rom
Radio 1.15
Radio 1.17
Radio 1.18
Which one is BETTER? bacause I see that Radio 1.18 DONT have windows live neither messenger.
It's different for different people and different regions/countries/Service-Providers but in my case I think the best radio by far is 1.13 ! (Sweden/Comviq-Tele2)
Tried all radios and since I tried 1.13 I havent changed.
BTW: "windows live neither messenger" has NOTHING to do with the radio version...

The OS ROM image (possibly extROM in some cases) contains the software.
As for the radio ROM, try them out and see which gives you best stability and reception. I use T-Mobile's 1.17 (from their latest ROM) and it works best for me.

If you had done a new radio pool (we already have some in the forum), I'd vote for 1.17.
1.18 caused me problems with some ROMs.
1.15 is fine too.
1.17 works best for me as well...

Indeed
....
Use 1.15. With 1.17, 1.18 had problems with all roms, but radio depends on the operator as mentioned above.
i'm using 1.12 in the netherlands
Can anyone give a suggestion regarding T-Mobile in Hungary?
Also, do the GSM Crashes have anything to do with the version?
Radio 1.17

I'm using 1.18 with the same ROM and telecom operator you use, but the results are not good.
Can you tell me where can I found the 1.17?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, mzalan!
I use 1.15, tried 17 and 18 too, but I had problems with 1.18 (as I remember).
Don't really know which one is better or whether older ones works better, but I experience "crashes" time after time too! Like this: full signal -> no signal/Gprs -> searching -> back to normal. Like the Phone has been reset! Strange... I always blamed the Radio ROM, but I didn't do much to solve this...

Try using newer ROM and compatible radio, your ROM is very old... ROM with 1.60 drivers use radio 1.58... or with 3.13 or 3.18 use radio 1.59...

New Radio and SPL. How many ROMS?

Hi. Right now I'm running Cursorsense, and really happy with it .
I Have:
SPL-1.76.2007
RADIO-6.35.10.18
How many Roms are out there for new SPL and Radio?
Wanna do some testing.
Depends. Do you value GPS, Bluetooth, WIFI and Youtube/Videos to properly function and no FCs? Then CusorSense is you're only bet right now.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great ROM but 1.5 is getting old....
I know.. 1.5 is gettin old. I need BT, WiFi and GPS Work
Developers are still using old SPL and Radio. Just want to know why?

32B is the standard that people are developing for and is what the AOSP source is based on. 32A on the old radio is a very easy port from 32B. They both use a very similar 2.6.29 kernel.
Also, there is no stable working kernel 2.6.29 for 32A on the new 6.35 radio.

We need that kind of thread
Why do we need a different SPL?
I'm on this
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0010(SAPP1000)
RADIO-3.22.20.17
Jun 2 2009, 17:28:28
And used the "how-to-root-the-htc-magic-in-one-click" to root the phone , then installed Amon RA's 1.5.2H recovery and flashed CyanogenMod from "wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/32A_Kernel", and the 32A port using the before mentioned recovery program.
I have no problems.
Why do I need another SPL and Radio? if I want to flash CursorSense32A, OpenEclair or the KingKlick rom's <- just to mention a few...
*J*
The next official Android 2.1 update will most likely have the latest radio too.
So if you want to have the latest (rooted) official HTC roms on your device, you need the latest radio too.
Caught my attention.... I'm subscribing...
I posted a set of related questions Here...
Summary:
1.33.2010 vs 1.76.2007 SPL
3.22.20.17 vs 6.35.x.x radio
Ok, so what is the difference, other than they are required for certain ROMs? Are there new features or ???
What phones actually came with these 'new' versions; I have a new Rogers Magic and it had the old versions installed. I also believe the Rogers update (OTA) was still the old SPL, although a perfected version.
Why would someone want to upgrade and are there incompatibilities with providers (mine is 850/1900 freq - radio specifically)
I also read a comment that said something to the likes of:
The new radio and SPL makes the 32A a Hero (or like)... (I think from Amon in another thread.) Does that mean it can run the Hero kernel (build kern for Hero device type), a port; I assume it can't run a Hero ROM direct, is it just easier to port those ROMs?
Didn't see any of this described anywhere or in the wiki, at least that made sense to me.
I'd be glad to tack it in for reference if we get some good information... (I'm sure that I'm not the only one overwhelmed by all this information and I read through these forums all the time, entire threads... Also was a firmware engineer, *IX admin and java dev in a past life)
2 cursordroid: hope you aren't ending with your awesome work, cause i can't wait your next great rom) of course, if you're planning something for us...?
I'm currently using marsdroid lite for the new radio. pretty fast (way smoother than another new spl/radio superD i used before).
and btw, the new radio is indeed different: I now have reception in some of the subway stations in Toronto which is impossible w/ the old radio.
Radio = Reception and might be viewed by Rogers?

So, new radio is for reception, and might be some sort of recognition of a fix that Rogers sent out because of problems with calling "911". <- Am I on the right track?
Why does the Rom care about the radio version?
Is the SPL, a sort of a preloader that will pick up the phone layout before booting into a rom?
And a 32A is different from a 32B because? (is it internal ram, 288 vs 192)
the 911 fix was part of the update afaik, the radio change has nothing to do with the fix.
yes it is the internal ram difference. also the boards for the two phones are different, however if you look around the dev section there is a way to port any 32b rom to 32a. however it will only use 192 ram
SPL = second program loader (if memory serves)

HTC TP2 Radio version

Hello guys,
I have the HTC TP2 UK version already with the dotcomp DeepShining x8.21905 ROM working good! (Thanks for that dotcomp) ...
I have been looking for the best performance on my HTC and reading the Threads around this forum for long time and saw the radio versions for ROM's, so i need some help with this!
My ROM Radio version is the original provided from Vodafone UK (3.44.25.27).
Been looking at this:
hxxp://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...2FShipped_Roms
Found that PT Vodafone is running on ROM Radio 4.49.25.91
So my question is, what will happen is i upgrade to that radio version?
Will i loose any data and programs that i have instaled?
I would appreciate any help from you guys!!!
Thanks in advanced...
