O2 XDA mini Queries on Battery and SMS. - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Hi everybody. I know somebody knows what I am going to ask.
1. In the power setting. Can you set the power to using the backup battery first and then your main battery. Also, is it normal that my magician turns off when my main battery is drained? When I opened it my backup battery remains 100%. I was in the impression that the backup battery will be use automatically when my main battery is drained. Please advise on this one.
2. When texting and will be sending to the person. Can you have the contacts be names only instead of name and number?.
Hope to hear from you guys. God bless.

Erasing , Please wait ... after battery out

Doing all Cotullas ROMs "Erasing , Please wait..." after I get the battery out for longer ?? Every time I must install all Themes, Ringtones again...
What you are doing , a Backup every Day ??
Some Programs dont running from SD Card.
Thanks
You have to replace your backup battery, even they are long lasting, they die after some time. The backup battery holds the ram (magician does not have flash for storing data). I have disassembled mine magician to find out what battery it is - in mine it is Varta v18hrt. I have already ordered a replacement one (V20HR, also called 55902, V11R, V15H and V18HRT)
Maybe this is the solution to threads like i-mate jam automatically reset every time etc etc.
Ahh, that is the Answer, no Flash but RAM ! I understand ... . Thanks !
It means , that the Start Message only checks and cleans the RAM, which is already without Data ?
hey man i have a solution but it needs expert in hardware
all what you need is to diconnect the sensor of the backup battery[must open the device by hardware expert] and when the main battery will end the mobile will be off but witout loosig data as backup battery still full but un readad
[do it at your resposibility you will not loose any thing ]
Oh man, you are so wrong. It is not the sensor of the backup battery charge, but the battery itself. As i sad, the battery holds the magicians memory, thus, when there is no backup battery, it will reset (erase the mem) only few miliseconds after you pull out the main battery.
I think there is a switch , which is actuated by the battery cover. If u take out the battery cover, the Backup battery holds the RAM and u can take out the Main Battery. U have 30 Minutes maximal then the Backup Battery is emty says my User Manual...
At last some1 read the manual...
haha, yes!
Thanks,
New Backup Battery, and I can put my Sim Card out and in , and all Data stays in...
Now lets work with this PDA !
I´m waiting for my new backup battery now... It should arrive in a week... Let the modding begin!
Ps.:
Maybe this is the solution to "Help! I-mate Jam automatically reset"..
Maybe , the Problem is , that the Backup battery will indicate as 100% !
You checks its damage not bevor you remove your Main Battery !
Is only an Voltage Indicator not the real Capacity.
I will replace it every 2 Years to be sure.(so long as i have this magician)
i have i mate jam and its makes hard reset when the battery is of is there any prog i can use for that ...plz any one help me

Can you please read whole topic once again?

Need Help About Weird Battery Drain Issue

I just unlocked my phone by 'interop unlock method' and loaded a few homebrew apps on my samsung omnia w.
now ever since i've done that i'm getting wierd battery life.
battery life finishes very quickly and sometimes just switches off when i reach around the 20% mark directly going to zero.sometimes from full 70% available i becomes 10% within seconds. i am suspecting the battery status homebrew app and have also uninstalled it without any solution to my problem
anyway to fix this without having to reset my phone???
Battery: making it last
There's a lot you can do to make the battery in your Windows Phone last longer between charges. The easiest way is to use Battery Saver. You can set it so that it'll turn on any time your battery gets too low, or if you know in advance that you're going to need to make every bit count, you can turn it on to make sure your battery lasts as long as possible.
When you turn on Battery Saver, your phone automatically turns off some of the features on your phone that use battery in the background. So when Battery Saver is on, your phone will no longer:
Automatically receive emails or calendar updates – You can still sync your email manually whenever you want. To learn more, see Synchronising your email.
Update some Live Tiles – The technical explanation is that if a Tile uses something called push notification to get its updates, it'll stop receiving those updates in Battery Saver mode. But the upshot is that when Battery Saver is on, some of your Tiles won't be updated.
Allow apps to run in the background – You'll only be able to use an app if it's open.
You can still make and receive phone calls and text messages, and browse the Internet.
We've also put together some battery-saving tips to help you get started. The key is finding the balance between getting the most out of your phone while getting the battery life you need.
To turn on Battery Saver
On Start, flick left to the App list, tap Settings Settings icon, then tap Battery saver.
Do one or both of the following:
If you want Battery Saver to turn on whenever the battery gets to 20%, select Always turn on Battery Saver when battery is low.
If you want to turn on Battery Saver now and leave it on until the next time you plug in your phone, select Turn on Battery Saver now, until the next charge.
When Battery Saver is on, the battery icon looks like this: Battery Saver icon
Note
When Battery Saver is on, you won't be able to change the settings for features that are disabled (like email, for example). To change a setting, go to Settings > Battery Saver and clear all of the checkboxes. You can turn it on again when you've finished.
Here are some more tips to help make your battery last.
Reduce the time before the screen turns off
Set a shorter Screen time-out duration and set your phone to lock. This helps save battery power and also prevents your phone from turning on by accident when you put it away. For more info, see Lock screen FAQ.
Lower the brightness setting
On Start, flick left to the App list and tap Settings Settings icon. Tap Brightness, turn off Automatically adjust, then select the Level that you want to use instead.
Use a dark background theme
On Start, flick left to the App list and tap Settings Settings icon. Tap Theme, tap Background, then tap Dark.
Sync music and pictures on your computer
When you're on your computer, connect your phone and sync your favourite music and pictures to it using the Zune software. To learn more, see Synchronising music, pictures and videos . You can then enjoy your favourite pictures and songs on your phone, even if you're in an area with poor reception.
Of course there's a lot of music out there that might not be in your collection, and streaming lets you enjoy new stuff while you're on the go. But if your battery is running low or you can't get to a computer or a power source, avoid streaming music for long periods of time because it uses more power. If you listen to your playlists with the screen turned off, make sure that the current playlist doesn't include streaming items. And if you're not a Zune Music Pass subscriber, you can turn off Connect with Zune in the Music + videos settings.
Turn off connections you're not using
When Bluetooth is turned on, your phone checks continuously for available accessories. So if you're not using a Bluetooth accessory, you can turn Bluetooth off. For more info, see Pairing your phone with a Bluetooth accessory.
Also, if you listen to music or talk on the phone for hours, try using headphones instead of a Bluetooth device. And if you are using a Bluetooth accessory or the speaker in a call, press the Power Power icon button to turn the screen off. To learn more, see Making and receiving phone calls.
Not using games at the moment? Then you can turn off the Connect to Xbox LIVE setting in the Games settings.
Sync emails and contacts selectively
To make your battery last a little longer, try one or more of these sync-related tips:
Change the sync settings for your email accounts to a longer interval, especially for secondary accounts that you don't need to check as often. You can change the sync setting on a per-account basis. (On Start, flick left to the App list, tap Settings Settings icon, then tap Email & accounts. Tap the account that you want to change the sync settings for, tap Download new content, choose a longer interval, then tap Done Done icon.)
If you don't use any Windows Live services and don't have an email account hosted by Microsoft, such as a Hotmail account, go into the Windows Live account settings and change the default sync setting to Manually.
Choose which contacts are synchronised to your phone. If your email account doesn't include any contacts that you want to keep on your phone, you can choose to not have them synchronised to your phone. You can also keep your Facebook contacts separate from your other contacts too, which should help reduce the total number of contacts synchronised to your phone. For more info, see Social networking on your phone FAQ.
Be aware that each time you visit What's New for People and Pictures, your phone uses extra power to sync and update.
Picture-taking tips
When you've finished taking a picture, press the Back Back hardware button button to exit the camera viewfinder. (You can also press the Power Power icon button to put your phone to sleep.) When the viewfinder is active, the screen stays on longer.
Also, when it's time to upload pictures, only upload the ones you want to keep and skip the ones that aren't so great. This saves power, and saves you time later when you want to sort your pics at your computer.
Warning
Do not remove or replace the battery when the phone is turned on. If you have a spare battery, turn off your phone, then replace the battery in your phone with the spare. This helps ensure that your data is saved properly. To turn off your phone, press and hold the Power Power icon button for three seconds until the goodbye message appears and the screen goes dark.
i know about these tips. but i have never followed them. phone functionality becomes limited.
appreciate the help.
but is there a known homebrew app which messes with the battery registry??
because there was no problem before i hacked the device

This is why every developer insists on backing up ur device before unlocking or using any of their apps..
Even I was getting around a full day of battery backup time on browsing for half an hour, playing xblive games for half an hour, music for half an hour, calling on 3G for half an hour a day when my omnia w was new..now i get some 15hours..
Anyway most probable cause may be u have left the bluetooth turned on unnecessarily..or may be too many background apps are running..if this is the cause, goto settings, flick left/right, goto background tasks and turn off all unnecessary apps running in the background..and dont forget to turnoff bluetooth after usage..And dont overcharge ur battery, stop charging after it reaches 90-92%..

I experienced a big decrease in battery life when using a certain custom ROM, a different ROM was a little better, but I returned to stock, which was quite normal again

I have reseted my phone twice from Settings>about Phone.
i have already looked at the background settings and turned all of them off. i even turned it off in heathcliff's root tool(used interop unlock).
bluetooth was never on in the settings menu (though the option for "audio via bluetooth was toggled on in wp7root tools". but i assume it doesnt keep the bluetooth on)
-What happens is my battery shows a charge of @ 50-60% few hrs after removing from charger and then suddenly the sound for low battery plays and it "goodbyes". and doesn't turn on again. it directly goes to 1% charge and turns off!!!
-yesterday when i rebooted my phone: at the moment i switched off my phone it had 80% charge, but when i booted back on it became 1% and turned off by itself !!
something is messed up
what should i do?
EDIT: going to hard reset using *2767*3855#
after first reset
all i did was use custom accent colour after heathcliff unlock in his tool itself.
still the problem persisted
quite a few tweaks like audio via bluetooth and 3g toggle, etc don't work at all in the wp7root tools for me. they get resetted back whenever i change them and reopen the app

Just take a look at the battery terminals..i think ur battery is out..just check if any of ur frnds have a samsung exhibit 4g/exhibit 2/focus flash/transform ultra/conquer 4g..their battery fits perfectly into ur phone..just to check if culprit is the battery..if inserting their battery solves the problem, ditch ur battery and get a new one..on ebay u can get a 2500mah battery for 10USD instead of samsung's 1500mah one..As far as windows phone devices are concerned, that to 2nd gen samsung devices a hard reset(from settings>about) should solve problems like freezing on app launch, not connecting to marketplace AT ALL, etc.

none of my friends here have those phones . i live in india and am currently looking for the 2500 mah one. it looks cooool. hope new battery solves the problems.
Any other way i can test the faulty battery??
the link you gave don't ship here in india
- The phone doesn't seem to be reading my battery properly. are you sure its not a registry issue? Because sometimes it turns off at 50% charge but when i plug the charger it says 50% remaining. the battery is just being read wrong. is this because i unlocked my phone?
EDIT: Did a research and have noticed that my battery has swollen and http://www.jesoba.com/2013/02/all-you-need-to-know-about-cell-phone.html this guy has same problem as me.

if the seller saysit fits into omnia w, it should fit..and if it doesnt, u can file a complaint against the seller on ebay..theyll resolve ur issues..all third party batteries dont last as long as ur samsung original battery..what i mean is samsung promises around 800 recharge cycles for omnia w's batteries..these 'made in china' batteries last for around 400 or 500 max but they offer better backup time per charge cuz, u know, capacity is more:1500mah vs 2200mah..the life of the battery is not as much as the samsung's battery, i mean the no. of recharge cycles..hope this helps..

I'm 100% sure that wave 2's battery wouldn't fit into Omnia w..
And neither do I think putting your battery in freezer solves the problem..oh is ur battery swollen??one of the reason is overnight overcharging..my old phone has a swollen battery bcoz I used to overcharge it..stop overcharging and ur problems easily come down..in this situation, if I were u, I would have got the battery which u posted the link for..

I'm going to buy that one but I don't trust the seller yet. I'm looking for alternatives. I'm in touch with the seller and I am currently corresponding with him. this is the last correspondence with him
"sir. for electronics.. I generally don't accept returns because I don't see how the product was handled after the purchase. some ppl ask for returns after they have mishandled the product. hence I cannot take returns .sorry. but if you receive a dead product then certainly you can send it back.
also please note there will not be any product packaging for this just a polythene bag to avoid any damage during transit.
- ugesh_mathew"
What kind of seller sends it "in a polythene bag" without packing "to avoid damage".

Many sellers send such third party items which are small in volume in a polythene bags..that is tragic..but u can't help..according to my experience, a nice thick polythene bag is enough to support the battery against simple damages like scratches..leave alone battery..i had got a screen protector in a polythene bag..which is really heartbreaking..so cheer up and pray god ur battery won't get mishandled..

can anyone give any tips as to reduce heating coz of the metallic plate?? i've started to charge my battery after removing my back panel from now on. any way to prevent heating because of using 3g?? (can't remove back panel while using the phone of course )

[TIPS] Long Lasting Battery.. if battery drain fast

If you face problem with battery.. draining like hell..
then these tips are for you....
1. Battery Calibration
2. Control Apps
3. Device Setting
1. Battery Calibration
Don't use any application..
Just charge your battery till 100%.. (if stuck on 99% for long time.. no problem) just Restart your phone
without remove charger..Important
after restart (battery show 60 to 98%. leave it on charge again till 100% + 2 hrs. more
Then remove from charger & use phone until battery drain to 0% and switch-off itself
Don't recharge between 100 to 0%.. then try to restart at least 3 time.. to sure drain battery completely
now connect your phone to charger.. after 10 minutes start your phone.
but don't remove your charger till battery goes 100%...Important
(sometime it take more than 4-5 hrs. so better in night) When battery goes 100% ...now you done Calibration..
Technically..
on every restart Android reset Battery (by wipe battery status)
So.. on 100% Android make Maximum level - on 0% minimum level
P.S. Do this calibration on every ROM flash or at-least one time a month..
2. Control Apps
Some Application consume battery do much..
i.e. Facebook, Youtube, Maps, Whatsapp, Viber, Yahoo! Mail / Messenger, Skype, Hotmail.com, etc.
so when you don't use these apps (running in background) kill them from
setting > apps > RUNNING click on apps > Stop..
Better use Browser Bookmark instead applications
i.e. Facebook, YouTube, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo Messenger, Outlook,
It help to save your RAM also..
3. Device Setting
lowest brightness..
lowest screen timeout
Close WiFi if no need
Close Data Conn. if no need.
Close Bluetooth if no need.
Close GPS if no need.
try to use dark backgrounds..
Try these tips then tell me how your battery work
Sorry for horrible & terrible English

Also you can use, deep sleep battery (free or pro) to reduce the number of screen off wake ups.
this will help you to prolong the battery quite a fair bit.

HTC One E9+ shutdown automatically.

Dears,
i have HTC one E9+ and purchased 6-7 before from online and did not notice that device does not have warranty.
Now its started shutting down and when restart then battery goes to 1% or some time decreased 30-40% of the battery and its happen only when i start using the devise like youtube, skype or whatsapp etc but while on idle status dont face any issue.
I even did the factory reset but no improvement and then i thought could be a battery issue and then contacted HTC and they said perform below tasks and if battery above than 75% then not a battery issue.
Now i dont know what should i do to resolve this issue.
can anyone put his/her experience to fix this issue.
1 - charge the device until the LED turns green <br/>2 - turn on air plan mode
3- Go to settings > display > increase the screen time out to one hour and increase the brightness to 100%
4-then restart the device
5- Unplug it and leave it for one hour
if the battery level below 75% that is mean the battery need to be changed

Dears,
i have HTC one E9+ and purchased 6-7 before from online and did not notice that device does not have warranty.
