Is there somewhere where the 6.1 Standard RDP client can be downloaded? - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

Hoping to try out the new RDP client in 6.1 Standard without installing a whole new rom to do it... if possible.

Here here!
I too would like to know if there is a cab file out there somewhere. The MS_RDP_v6.1.cab file for download DOES work on my Motorola Q, but it isn't very smartphone friendly. I hope soon the actual WM 6.1 Standard version of RDP can be found.

I actually wanted to do this in the past, but realized it would be ridiculous to control without a touch screen / stylus.

wm6 standard questions

hey guys (and girls where aplicable),
i got a question (a sorta dumb one). If a smartphone lik the iPAQ 514 Voice Messenger or the HTC Vox have windows mobile 6 standard does that mean they run regular windows mobile programs or smartphone versions? See the Cheeta/treo 750 has windows mobile standard ed. and is called a smartphone but it uses regular PPC programs, the other two mentioned before have the same wm6 but no touch screen. so i was wondering if that made a diference in the phones capabilities to use PPC Progs? I appreciate any answers as i am greatly puzzled and intregued buy this.
With WM6 they dispensed with the term "smartphone" in favour of WM 6 Standard. Too many non Windows Mobile phones were being called "smart phones" as well as PPC phones.
WM Standard has no support for touch screens and many PPC apps will not run on it.
WM Pro has touchscreens.
understanding versions...
so lemmie go over this... a ppc with a touch screen is said to run WM6 pro, a ppc without a touch screen is said to run wm6 standard the "smartphone" version. so what of the vox? it has all the capabilities of a full sized PPC without the touch screen so where would it and the ipaq 514 fit in? Because correct me if i'm wrong but dont they offer features like MS Office editing and production verus the others whose ability is limited to viewing or is it the WM6 platform that actually enables this?
You're right, its just a functionality of WM6. Any smartphone (i.e. non-Touch screen device) running WM6 has those same office capabilities and will be running WM6 Standard, not Professional.
As far as I know the two WM6 are one same core of the same OS but..
In the PPC version there is more advanced setup in the menus wich setup is locked in the Srtandard by default.
For example in the Standard there is no way to change the IP of the wi-fi manually.
And in the pocket pc there is some dll's, responsible for touchscreen operation .
yes but....
i do believe you might be correct on everything but the I.P setup for standard. i have an sda running wm6 and i can manually setup my wifi and change certain settings in the network config. Also the HP ipaq 514 that i've been researching also has the same features. see my big thing is i love he compact size of the smart phone but need the capabilities of the PPC. It wold be great if i could get the best of both. i know the O2 XDA stealth has that exact combo but they are hard to find and kinda pricey for thier age.
There are separate SDKs for Standard and Pro, so I think the differences run a little deeper.
well what to do?
well i guess my final questions then wuld be what kind of phone are:-
1/ O2's xda stealth
2/ HP's Ipaq 514

hey everyone
first of all i would like to congratulate Dr. Martin Gonzo for his amazing ROM.

what i would like to know is:
wich apps do you think work best with the Windows Mobile 6.1 version
or that you find them practical or indespensable
if you can, put a thumbnail of you 6.1 screen
would like to see come cool backgrounds with the 6.1
please share the links if possible
cheers everyone
there is a best apps thread here for wm6.0.
i guess it should be pretty much the same applications for wm6.1 also.
Check out the CHome Configurator. It'll let you customize your sliding panel home screen easily. Here's the link to the excalibur thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393104
Total Commander, Its got to be the best Freeware File Manager for Windows Mobile. It allows you to work with files in ROM unlike File Explorer, allows you to edit the registry and even has an ftp client built in.

internet explorer 6.1 (from wm6.1 standard) for wm6?

Is there anyway to pull IE from WM6.1 standard (smartphone) to run on a WM6 or WM5 standard device? Similar to how ppl have pulled office 6.1 to run on wm5?
Thanks
So you are asking for the smartphone version for your professional device, correct?
No. I have a WM 6 standard device.
WM 6.1 standard is already out, and it has a newer version of IE mobile.
Is it possible to get the IE from WM 6.1 standard to run on WM 6 standard (or even WM 5 standard/smartphone).
We're all in standard/smartphone version right now.
I assume something similar can be done for the pro/touch screen devices as well, but I'm not asking about that.
Thanks
PS. I'm well aware that other browsers exist, such as opera. I'm specifically curious about getting the latest IE on older devices, similar to how we can run new mobile office apps on older devices.

Remote Desktop 6.5 cab

Hi,
I am planning on flashing to a ROM that uses Windows Mobile 6.5. However from what I understand there are two major issues:
1. No all of the Winmo 6.5 roms include Windows Remote Desktop
2. The Windows Remote Desktop 6.1 cabs are not compatible.
Where can I get a functional Remote Desktop Mobile cab file that works with Windows Mobile 6.5?
I honestly have no idea if it works on 6.5 (since I don't use 6.5), but maybe ZaDesktop could be given a try. I use it since my device didn't have rdesktop on it by default and during a reinstall I had to install ZaTunnel anyway.

Click to collapse
Got any solutions ?
Here you go; this is from build 28244. It seems to work (I installed it to test, and loaded the app). I've never used RD before, though.
Edit: I tested it out, and it works. Hell, it's kind of cool, lol.

[Q] OS Question

Greetings All,
I am a newbie to any sort of forum and I wish to express my thanks in advance for your help.
I have been a WM (HTC Tilt WM 6.1) user for 4 years. Just recently I have been having issues with my phone and I need to purchase a new phone, but I totally confused on what to purchase.
My Tilt has the following programs installed, that I use on a daily basis:
Voice Command, Note2Self, SPB Wallet, SK Tools, Skype, Handy Shopper, in addition to the WM Office suite.
These are the programs that work well for me and I am comfortable with.
My question is this>
Can a widows 7 Phone do all the above or do I find a used WM 6.1 or 6.5 phone…will I like WM 6.5 better?
Or dare I say it…an Android?
Since your a windows mobile user and I'm guessing your most familiar with that os I suggest the touch pro 2 or the HD2. The touch pro 2 because it's a user friendly device, nice sized keyboard and purely reliable. The hd2 is also a nice pick it has a 4.3in screen an extremely fast processor and the touch is pretty sensitive/similar to the iPhone. You can go to htc.com to check the specs and see what you like best.
These are both 6.5 wm capable phones and the HD2 can flash wp7. I personally like winmo over android because of office suite but android is not bad either.
thanks for the info...what does "flash wp7" mean?
The HD2 has a very active dev community and one of the things they have accomplished is to port other operating systems to the device. So you have a choice now between keeping it on the stock WM6.5, or 'flashing' an alternative OS like WP7 or Android.
If you bought one yourself you would have the added bonus of being able to use the apps that you are familiar with.
Thanks for your thoughts.
What about the new HTC Inspire...any thoughts?
