Hi everybody!
I’ve surfed this forum many times, trying to find topics, where I could get info, such.
What are Radio Rom, Extended Rom, and Extracted Rom?
What they include inside?
To whom belongs files nk.nbf and ms.nbf?
What gives new version, when you do update?
What is Bluetooth version 1.0 ----2.0, is it version of chipset, or is it version of software?
Can you change this version of bluetooth, and a lot of questions, where I can’t find any answers over Word!!!
I have seen many times, instead answers just redirect to old topics.
Where do I know, may be from that time this question about WM5.0 is WORK?
I am myself seen QTEC2020i(XDAIIi) complete with mobile 5.0.
Please, answer how to Search(make sentence) and where(index), or answer to one of the many questions above?
Hi YARMen!
I know the search can be problematic if you do not enter the right keywords and even then it doesn't cover the WiKi which is where you should look for most of the answers.
Here are some quick answers for you:
Radio ROM - The drivers and stuff that control the phone WiFi and BT (all the radio) this is separate from the OS and can be updated by it self.
Extended ROM is a part of the devices FLASH that is hidden (can be unhidden with reg hacks and used to store files so they won't be deleted during hard reset). It is used to store provider customization cabs that install automatically after you hard reset the device.
Extracted ROM is a ROM image extracted from a device. Basically you take all the OS, drivers and stuff and save them to a file on the PC for later use.
To whom belongs files nk.nbf and ms.nbf?

Not exactly sure what you mean here. the mbf files are ROM images, and updates are produced by the OEMs. (Original Equipment Manufacturers)
Not sure about BT, but I think it's hardware.
That's it.
radio rom also called radio stack
have the software which also control the gsm/umts phone software
Thank you very much for answers!

When I updated my PDA I used ROM which consisted files ms_.nbf, nk.nbf, and radio_.nbf. I think it get 1, 2, 3 steps to install the softwere.
You can upgrade all of them or just one, moving files from folder, where installer starts.
So I know now what is radio_.nbf, it is radio ROM about that you have told me. Question is what the rest?
And please, if you know, what about version Bluetooth below?
Ok, well nk.nbf is 'main' ROM. It's the OS and hardware drivers for touch screen, LCD etc.
I am not sure but that leaves ms_.nbf to be the extended ROM. I could be wrong though.
Thank you, Levenum.
Good job!
There is a solution of search.
If you want to find exact words or sentences into this forum, or another wiki sites go to Google.com or another search server, put your words in extended search and choose domen(write down) 'forum.xda-developers.com' and etc.

Avaya One-X 4.0.25 on WM6
Installed and working on Kaiser WM6 !
Manual install process :
1. Unpack the attached ZIP file with subfolders.
2. Copy all the files to the appropriate folders on your PDA.
3. Change the registry according to the attached registry.txt (change 2 keys and create 4 new)
4. Completely turn off your PDA (to renew the registry). Reset button does not work.
5. Switch the device on.
6. In order to enter the PIN code do: Start -> Settings -> Phone -> Entere your PIN
Now you have an Avaya One-X as a dialer.
Enjoy !

Known OEM Package Issues
12-04-07
When all packages are applied, additional icons (Comm Manager, Internet Sharing, RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, etc) appear in program menu, which are not present in the AT&T shipped ROM. This is a minor issue and will not be fixed as provxml files are PITA
HTC HomePlug package has 9 icons, however, the 8th icon does not display on Tilt ROM
Sliding Sounds package has typo - The definitions for Sliding Sound 0 are both for "out"; the first one needs to be changed to "in". (Thanks slimshadee) (fixed in 12-17-07 OEM package update)
12-07-07
Ring-WindowsMobile and Ring-Vision ringtones show up, but are not present. (fixed in 12-17-07 ROM folder update) This can be resolved by changing the following in SYS\Base_Lang_0409\813fd1d1-ca6f-4b6d-96d2-c97fb99bd535.rgu:

Tired of Flashing
Just installed and I must say it's the fastest out the box so far.
Because it's clean & an AT&T Rom...I haven't had any carrier related issues, no registry tweaking required & I have plenty of space to put what I want & need.
All the other ROMs required too much tweaking and I also experienced some freezing.
I went thru this ROM flashing crap with my MDA...just want the damn thang to work.
From what I've seen and experienced so far....clean & stable is the way to go.
This device has plenty of storage space so there's no need to stuff it like with other devices.
If you have more than 60megs of crap to install...get a laptop
Thanks for the ROM/ROMs & I hope this is my last flash
Very Cool! Thanks for doing this!
I'm downloading the clean rom now and then will push it up to other sites for mirrors. Can someone do the same for the other two downloads (OEM Packages and ROM Folders)?
[Edit] Ok, I griped to quickly... MegaUpload let me pull all 3 down one after another (never been able to do that before). I'll mirror these shortly so there are other options.
what about the latest OS and .net?
This is a very clean ROM, but it does not have the latest .net and OS - any chance of on newer version?
Congratulations, you're making a great job...
Cheers.

Please tell me I can use a custom 2G dialer and have smart dialing options enabled? and that there's no (A) in the dial screen menu
THANK YOU!!!!!
Finally...a clean base with options to cook an ATT ROM for the Tilt.
I have one note for you Alex...
Your OEM_ATT_160_Sliding_Sounds package has a typo in the rgu file (this same typo is also in the 1.56 rom package folder as well)...
The definitions for Sliding Sound 0 are both for "out"; the first one needs to be changed to "in".
My last goal is to completely obliterate touchflo...I thought I did so from the 1.56 rom package you provided by eliminating the TFSettings and Registry entries, but I think touch.dll also needs to be removed, am I correct?
Thanks again for your great work..
shadee
I can't stand touch flo either
Alarm no worky...I'll try the newer version with 3.5.net and see what happens.

In NetCF 3.5 ROM, was able to set an alarm in the 'clock & alarms' control panel just fine and it went off at the appropriate time. Have not verified if this is a problem with NetCF 2.0.

Should be able to install any cab on top of the dialer. Smart dialing is available as an OEM package, but not installed in the ROM.

Yup, that should do it. I'll consider releasing another rom with Touchflo disabled and an OEM package to re-enable. Thanks again for all your input!
I am seeing problems with netcf rom. To fix, install cab. Will spend some time fixing rom and oem package when I'm in front of a computer.

Thanks a million but...
Alex;
Thank you for releasing a clean ROM; but I also have to say ARRRGH! Why? Well I thought when I got the Tilt that my days of being a "flashaholic" had been cured by going from a Wizard to a Tilt. I mean, this thing has more than enough memory for me, both storage and operating, is certainly fast enough for what I use it for, and other than a few little quirks which I was able to take care of pretty much great out of the box.
Then I decided that I wanted the new radio since there are a couple of spots I am in every day where reception is iffy, but to get the new radio you need the new ROM so the idea of flashing crept in. I downloaded the "newer stock" AT&T ROM but got busy at work. I knew the kitchen existed but just didn't feel like getting into it since work has been 14 hour days and traveling so I simply don;t have time to be messing with my device or dealing with it not being 100%
But now that you have such a clean ROM, all the packages easily accessible I seem to have caught the bug again big time! I used mattrk's kitchen with my Wizard so I understand the basic concept of packages into OEM, build OS, create nbf and flash but this one seems a little different. I read the readme and everything else I can find and I know that the kitchen creator was working on a step by step but I was wondering if someone could validate or correct my thought process here.
I downloaded and installed the kitchen and the build OS updates. I just extracted them into c:\kaiserkitchen. There was nothing overwritten so I am not sure if I did this properly.
I installed hardSPL
From your first post I downloaded the cooked ROM with NetCF3.5, the OEM packages and the ROM folders. This is where I got a little confused. If I have the ROM folders can I simply add the OEM packages I want (including the NETCF3.5 package NETCFv35_wm_armv4i) into the OEM folder, move all three folders to the Base ROM folder in the kitchen and then use the kitchen starting with !Cook?
Alternatively do I need to extract from the whole ROM I downloaded and then do the rest of the process?
Also, I saw your post about some issues with NetCF3.5 ROM, that you said could be fixed with a cab, but I don't see it. Would there be the same problems if I added the package NETCFv35_wm_armv4i?
Sorry for asking a question that I could probably just experiment with on my own and figure out but I simply don't have enough hours in the day lately.
Thanks again for all your work on this!
While the WM6.0 and WM6.1 edited ROMs with the newest NETCF v3.5 come
out one by one, most of them have a problem of incompatible NETCF and SQL with some softwares.
< For example >
Software 1. " Six Law" -------> e-book database of law, sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab is needed for it (also installed manually)
Software 2. " All-In-Me" ------> business software, sqlce.wce4.armv4.cab and sql.wce4.armv4.cab are needed for it (also installed manually)
After the two softwares mentioned above installed and run,
I keep getting the error message listed below:
System.IO.FileLoadException : Could not load file or assembly
'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=3.0.3600.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=3be235df1c8d2ad3, Retargetable=Yes'
or one of its dependencies.
The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference.
(Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
After the discussion in this thread (especially thanks to juju-35), we get a
solution to fix that problem. List as below:
For people who need the solution to fix the incompatible NETCF and SQL,
Just collect the files mentioned here and install according to the instructions.
1. NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab-----> I don't know why I couldn't upload this file
But you can get this file (about 2.13MB) from forum or download the
NETCFSetupv2.msi (about 37.1MB) from Microsoft website.
After installing NETCFSetupv2.msi on PC, you can get the cab
"NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab" from :
C:/Program Files/Microsoft.NET/SDK/CompactFramework/V2.0 /WindowsCE/WCE500/armv4i
Copy this file to Kaiser and install it.
2. sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab -------> I have uploaded this file
Copy this file to Kaiser and install it. It provides the assembly
of 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=3.0.3600.0.
3. NetCFConfig.zip -------> I have uuploaded this file
Unzip this file and you get a folder. Copy the folder to Kaiser's main
memory. The folder has NetCFCfg.exe and two .dll files(ARM version) in it.
Then run " NetCFCfg.exe " and you can see the configure screen as below:
Four menus:
About ----> Show the .Net Compact Framework versions installed
You should see 2.0.6129.0 and 3.5.7283.0
GAC-------> Show all the Assemblies installed in the Global Assembly Cache
Device Policy----> In this menu, you can set the default NetCF to v3.5.7283
and click Apply button.
Application Policy----> Here you can override device policy for applications.
That is you can choose which software to run with
NetCF v2.0.6129. Then click apply button.
After that, enjoy!!!
If anyone occurs any other special situation, please post it here for discussion.

Is there any way to have downward compatible?
Maybe the sqlserverce is in the rom files so we can't made any modification to them.

I've had the same problem with many of the new wm6 and wm6.1 rooms
the program i use is pocket e-sword which requires SQLCE 2.0 or sqlce.wce4.armv4.cab
the 2 wm 6.1 roms i've tried that works is sleuth's (which i'm currently on) and austinsync's hybrid.
i've tried laurentius, udk, dutty's wm6.1 all can't..

Not sure if you've realized the pattern, but the incompatible ROMs are the ones which have upgraded to NetCF 3.5 and SQLCE 3.5.
The ones that are not incompatible have NETCF 2.0 and SQLCE 3.0 just like the shipped ROM.
Hope this helps!
Your not completely right here!

It was the first thing that I was thinking as well btw.

Was informing the original Op. It seems like you're the only person who tried to make any changes as everyone else has pretty much stayed clear of this thread.
Craig, I'm surprised you even listed my beta2 UltraClean ROM since it doesn't even have NetCF 3.5 SQL CE installed, hence UltraClean. You could always install Sql CE 3.0 and it won't be a problem. That's why I offer so many variants.
Hope this helps!

Hi, Alex, your rom is also very nice. The only one issue I occurred is that
after installing the E-book database of law I got an error message
as follows,
The file 'SLink' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate,
or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try
reinstalling or restoring this file.
I have installed sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab and NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab manually,
but still got the error message.
Sorry that I didn't describe this in the first post.

Hello,
If your problem(s) come form the .NET CF 2.0 vs 3.5, which I think was mentioned to be the problem for esword in particular, there was actually a workaround posted in Quentin's ROM thread. I ran into the same problems with some of my cabs, I did the changes suggested in the thread, and it worked for me.
Basically, these were the steps:
1- Flash any ROM that has .NET CF 3.5 (most ROMs these days)
2- Install .NET on your PC (needed for step 3, I found out!). Can be dowloaded form Microsoft website.(Install file called NETCFSetup35.msi)
3- Install .NET power toys from MS. (File called NETCF-v35PowerToys.msi)
4- Install .NET v.20 on your PPC (cabs can be found on this forum)
5- Copy Netcfg.exe and its dll (ARM version) to your PPC and run it (prog can be found in Program Files/.NET directory on your PC)
THe NEcfg.exe is a nifty utility that allows you to detect all .NET CF versions installed on your PPC, and apply a default version to all programs but setup a few programs to run on a different .NET CF (like 2.0).
This way you can have programs that would run on any versions of .NET CF installed while having msot of your programs running on the faster, newer version.
I researched this to get Zagat 2 GO ( a great restaurant guide!) to run. Runs beautifully for me on Schap's, Dutty and 5.2 Alex ROMs (the program needs CF 2.0 to run and the default on those ROMs is 3.5).
Hope this helps.

Make the NetCF Fix more easier
Yeah, I 've tested that method. It really works. All softwares can be run on
every new Roms. (Many thanks to juju-35)
For people who need this solution for some softwares, I provide a easier way
for them. I upload the files taken out from the original installation:
1. NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab-----> I don't know why I cannot upload this file
You can get this file (about 2.13MB) from forum or download the
NETCFSetupv2.msi (about 37.1MB) from Microsoft website.
After installing NETCFSetupv2.msi on PC, you can get the cab
"NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab" from :
C:/Program Files/Microsoft.NET/SDK/CompactFramework/V2.0/WindowsCE/WCE500/armv4i
Copy this file to Kaiser and install it.
2. sqlce30.ppc.wce5.cab -------> I have uploaded this file
Copy this file to Kaiser and install it.
3. NetCFConfig.zip -------> I have uuploaded this file

Hi Craig,
I'd like to add this as a link in the wiki. Can you edit the topic to be more appropriate now that you've found the fix? It'd also be very helpful if you were to summarize all your findings and your solution in the first post.
Thanks much!

For the fix to be activated, the NetCF Config folder should be copied
to main memory. For me, if I put the NetCF Config folder in micro SD card,
the fix doesn't work. So I copy the folder to Program Files folder in main memory.
won't install for me...
this is a great work around it seems, i still have one issue. When installing NET CF v2.0, it won't install. It gets to the very end then says "Installation error. Stop all applications and processes, maximize available storage space, and run installation again. Support info: 3." .. followed by the .cab installation saying "Installation of NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab was unsuccessful"
What is the issue here? how do I fix this???
I'm running ROM 3.49.NO2.5066 (19588 WM 6.1) on Radio: 3.37.20 on an Alltel Titan

Here's the new JFv1.43 RC9 for all you UK users. Enjoy!
--- announcement for JFv1.43 Holiday
New! JFv1.43 is a bugfix release for the Holiday (ADP1.1h) version. This release fixes the issues most people were having with Latitude hanging after clicking "I agree". More info on my blog.
The links below have been updated with the new versions.
--- announcement for JFv1.42
The ADP1.1h version of JFv1.42 is out! This is based on the new ADP1.1 OTA that was put out this morning. I've also released a JFv1.42 version of RC33, that fixes the issue with adb not being enabled in recovery mode. You can find more details here
The links below have been updated with the new versions.
--- announcement for RC33
The RC33 version of JFv1.41 is here! Links are below. It is essentially the same as the RC30 version, as far as my changes are concerned. You of course get all the goodies included in RC33.
Note: RC33 contains a radio update. I chose not to include this in the RC33 update itself, because I personally don't want it re-flashing the radio every time I apply this update. Here (md5: cf8714d273fb0274574d9e3831e11fdd) is a separate update that *just* flashes the radio. You only need to install this update once (unless you happen to flash an nbh at some point in the future, in which case you should re-flash the radio afterwards).
To check if you have the new radio, go into the about phone screen in settings and check the baseband info. It should end with 1.22.14.11
note: I have no clue what the differences are in the new radio. I just assume they are good, and that it's better to use the new radio than the one from RC30.
note: (yes, I love Notes ). You shouldn't need to do a wipe if you're going from RC29 or RC30 to RC33. I've even had reports that you don't need to do a wipe going from ADP1.1 to RC33. Give it a shot if you want, and let us know if you had to wipe. Don't forget to do a nandroid backup first
note: (couldn't resist). The first/initial boot after upgrading to RC33 make take a minute or two. Just give it some time before concluding that you need to do a wipe.
------------------------
(original release annoucement for JFv1.41)
This version contains... *drumroll* multi-touch support! Thanks to lukehutch, zinx and ryebrye, this build allows android applications to receive multi-touch events. The built-in browser now supports multi-touch zooming! It also includes an "Auto-Rotate" setting that you can enable, to allow it to change screen orientation, based on the orientation of the phone. You can turn on auto-rotate in the browser settings (it's off by default).
See lukehutch's blog post for more information about the new multi-touch support, as well as a few other demo multi-touch apps he created that you can try out after installing JFv1.4. He also mentions a few issues that are present in browser, that you might run into while playing with zoom.
Other changes of note for JFv1.41 include:
a console in recovery mode. You can press alt+x to exit out of the recovery program and go directly to a console.
the ADP1 build is now based on the ADP1.1 firmware. See this thread for information about the changes in ADP1.1
the ADP1 build now includes .odex files for all of the system apks and jars. This means that you will have more space available in /data for all of your apps and caches, although less space available in /system
busybox's vi should now save files correctly, instead of saving them as blank files
One thing that I would like to point out about the ADP1.1 build is that it allows you to skip the initial google registration. This will make registering over wifi painless. You just click the "skip registration" button in the registration app, enable wifi in settings, then open the registration app again by trying to access one of the google apps (gmail, market, etc.), and then you can register over wifi.

In the console in recovery mode, there are a number of "special keys" that you should be aware of:
Code:
ctrl search
caps lock menu (on the keyboard)
arrow keys call + w,a,s,d
change virtual console call + 1,2,3...0
scroll console home + w,s
page up menu (above the trackball) + w
page down menu (above the trackball) + s
home menu (above the trackball) + a
end menu (above the trackball) + d
escape back
reboot menu (above the trackball) + search + backspace
Also, you can type "reboot" to reboot, and type "recovery" to go back into the recovery program.
JFv1.41 can be installed in the usual way. Save the zip file to your sdcard named update.zip, boot into recovery mode (home + power), and then press alt+s. If you are switch between versions, e.g. from RC30 to ADP1, you must also do a wipe in recovery mode (alt+w). This will clear all your data/settings/apps, and you will have to re-register once it boots back up. If you are staying on the same build, i.e. from JFv1.31 RC30 to JFv1.41 RC30, then you shouldn't have to do a wipe.
NOTE: If you are on the stock ADP1 image, you will need to upgrade to JFv1.31, then boot normally at least once, before upgrading to JFv1.41, to keep from having to perform a wipe. If you try to go from stock ADP1 -> JFv1.41 directly, you will have to do a wipe.
NOTE: If you end up with 2 Superuser whitelist apps in the app menu, you can uninstall one of them in Settings->Applications->Manage Applications. There will only be 1 that is uninstallable, so don't worry about uninstalling the wrong one.
Note: To install these updates, you need to have a recovery image that uses test keys. If any of the following are true, you most likely have a recovery image that uses test keys
you have installed my modified recovery image in the past
you have an ADP1
you currently have one of my modified firmwares installed
If this is your first time installing one of my firmwares, you may be interested in the other changes that have been made in previous versions, which are included in this version. Some of the notable features include:
Many more commands are available to use on the terminal. busybox is included, to provide standard commands like cp, grep, less, more, vi, sed, cp.. etc.
A secure way to get root access, through Koush's superuser application. To get root, open up terminal emulator and type su. A new window will open asking if you want to allow root access. Click "Yes" or "Always", and it will go back to the terminal emulator, and you'll have root access
A number of useful kernel modules that you can use. For example, ext2, cifs, and a host of others
A full phone backup utility. Boot into recovery mode with home+power, and then press alt+b to perform a backup. It stores the backup as .img files in a subfolder of the nandroid folder of your sdcard. To restore the backup, you have to have the engineering spl or hardspl installed, and then flash the images with the fastboot utility
ota updates are disabled. This is to prevent t-mobile from automatically updating your phone with a new update that removes your root access.
some applications that are missing on RC8 (the uk version) have been added. For example, the voice dialer and the amazon mp3 store.
when you connect to the phone using adb, you have root access
I've attached a full changelog vs the official builds for each version.
Here are the updated Build Environments for JFv1.41. These can be used to create an update identical to JFv1.41, or to create one modified to suit your tastes/preferences. You can find more info about the build environments over at my v1.31 post

Official ADP1.5 image
JesusFreke’s AndBlog
The official 1.5 firmware is here finally!
When is your 1.5 coming out?
May 1, 2009
The answer is… wait for it.. wait for it..
NOW!
If only i had a nickel for every time someone asked me that over the last week or two
This build is based on the official HTC ADP1.5 image. You should install the 1.5 radio from that HTC page before using this build.
Some of the important changes/features
* I’m now including a much better Superuser app, courtesy of zinx
* I’ve rebuilt the kernel and enabled netfilter support, to allow tethering.
* You can see/download both paid and protected apps in the market
* Luke’s multitouch kernel patch and browser patch have been ported to the .27 kernel and 1.5 browser.
* Support for the “apps to sdcard” hack. There’s not a separate “apps to sdcard” build. You can use the same build whether you are doing apps to sdcard or not. Thanks to haykuro for explaining how he’s done this in his images, so I can make my builds compatible. See here for a tutorial on setting this up.
* I’m not including a recovery image in this build. I ran into some snags getting all of the recovery features to work with the 1.5 recovery image, so I’ll forgo that for now. If you don’t have a spiffy recovery image yet, I’ve packaged up the most recent recovery image from JFv1.43 as a separate update.
If you are already running a “rooted” build (ADP/mine/haykuros/the dudes/whatever), it is available for download via the jf updater app (available on the market). If you don’t see it, open up the app settings, and choose either ADP1 or “All the updates” for the “System Mod Version” setting.
Or you can always download the update.zip file below and install it yourself. If you have a G1 and this is your first time installing a community firmware, you’ll need to follow any of the multitudes of tutorials out there for rooting your phone.
You can try to upgrade without a wipe, but if you run into any problems (for example, su/Superuser doesn’t work), you’ll need to perform a wipe. If you don’t want to wipe, take a nandroid backup before upgrading, so you can revert back to the backup.

Couldn't wait for a new update. You delivered like a champ!
Thanks peeps!
EDIT: Just a question, do I need to format my SD again like the other post says?
hey JF
for each of your releases you have said "If you are staying on the same build, i.e. from JFv1.31 RC30 to JFv1.4 RC30, then you shouldn't have to do a wipe" but every time i install one of your builds i get stuck with an infinite boot loop and have to perform a wipe. Any ideas? btw ive only used your adp builds on an adp
Great job, to you and all who contributed. Works great so far, loving the multi-touch zoom.
Installing now, i'll post in a sec when it works
Edit: of course, it works great!! multitouch is something I would have never expected
Edit2: just installed rc33 and the radio update, everything works great . Posting from it now!

The themes for RC30 and RC8 should work. The only thing you have to watch out for is if the theme overwrites Browser.apk, you'll lose the multi-touch browser.
The themes for ADP1 will most likely need to be updated to work with ADP1.1 unfortunately.
This Is Great!
thx jf and the update works great
ok so i need to resign my browser.apk before doing the template or not? thank the best release yet
