Dropped SMS - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

I just recently unlocked and flashed my Cingular 8125 to the latest TNT Rom however, I began noticing dropped sms. I just would never receive them!!! and i wouldn't receive any until i started texting again. So then i flashes 2.47 radio rom, however nothing has improved. I still randomly stop receiving sms and can't figure when or why it happens!!
Anyone have this issue? or have a solution?

i flashed the radio rom down 2.25.11 from Cingular however i'm still having issues with not receiving sms. im starting to think that this might a setting or phone/rom issue...

testing 2.19 now...

2.19 uk works excellently, but living in the bay area it eats a lot of battery going through the bart tunnels. and just in idle the phone loses an ungodly amount of battery.

yeah i changed to 2.19 and its great!!! no missed sms at all!!
although I do drop a bar or two or more here and there, and in places where i normally had all bars, but no loss in call quality or dropped calls.

Poor 3G Reception

Treo 750v very Poor 3G reception in buildings and on trains around London.
I have now changed job and work in central London and I have noticed on my route to and from home to central London I loose reception a number of times in various spots but on my TyTN which I took to test had no issues.
I have two Treo 750v and they both are doing it one installed with vodaphone and one Cingular rom. The lady next to me thought I was going mad two mobiles one in each hand and my eyes fixed on the reception bars all the way to London at 6:40am yesterday morning. I have not really noticed any issues with reception before this as around home it works flawlessly and I know it is not related to T-Mobile UK. I missed two calls also and whilst at work, phone on all day I got 3 voicemails. Various reviews on the internet have also said reception is poor on these phones and now it is starting to become a reality the more I use it in different areas.
I tested on the way home I rung my two land lines and spoke to my children and girlfriend on the TyTN and 750v the treo cut out 5 times whilst the TyTN held the connection from start to finish. Testing the 750v set to GSM today the phone cut out 2 so slight improvement I don't know if there will be a fix of some sort i.e. (radio or rom upgrade like the TyTN) over time fingers crossed, There is no difference for reception on the Cingular rom vs. vodaphone. But like anything it could be a hardware problem. I am sure if the treo had an antenna it would be better. First attempt for an antenna less Treo it is a good start. I hope they do a new revision of this Treo or this fault does gets fixed as I love the form factor of this phone far better than the TyTN imo.
Reception set to GSM is far better under band selection, I loose the fast browsing speed abilities of UTMS but call quality is much better overall.
Does anyone else suffer from reception issues related to 3G?
Tmobile
Vodaphone
O2
Sim cards tested in both phones.
I am also experiencing problems on 3G here in the Netherlands. I have some bad reception during calls and also alot of dropped calls when on the move and the phone is trying to fall back from UMTS to GSM.
I am also having some Bluetooth stack problems: the Bluetooth sometimes crashes, even in the middle of a conversation on the carkit. The audio connection gets lost with the parrot carkit.

The issues you are having are just like mine, Not having any bluetooth issues like you mention though. UTMS to GSM is a big problem with the phone it is like it gets confused and then freaks out.
The reception part is really starting to get to me as my main phone it is not doing to well if you know what I mean. I only hope that a software upgrade can fix the issues. I am sure the bluetooth issues will get sorted with an update.
Same here (Italy). Bad 3G reception (Vodafone network): sometimes the 750V switches to GPRS and the call quality is fine, sometimes it doesn't, and it's a pain... I noticed a slight improvement when I upgraded from the original Vodafone ROM to newer Cingular's. Hope this means it's a software-related issue, and can be solved via a ROM upgraded in the future. After all, the 750V is made - like the TyTN - by HTC, so the reception should be more or less the same in both the devices.
Bye,
F.

With my TyTN (radio 1.16) I get reception on a dead spot where I couldn't get reception with several other phone's (Nokia, SE, Motorola). Much better then with the standard radio 1.03 which didn't work there also. The Palm's reception is somewhere in between, and probably software-related too.

I've got the same problem. Fixed it by changing the band selection from "automatic" to "gsm". I'll have to change it back whenever I want to access the internet, which is a pain, but at least it's now usable as a phone.

No audio after period of no GSM signal?

I am running a ROM based on the HTC Official Wm6.1 (5.2.19212, WWE 3.29.707.0). I noticed this behaviour last week but put it down to a random glitch, however today in the same scenario I have hit the same issue.
I have been working in a basement where there is little or no GSM coverage - GSM icon says 'No service' when clicked. I was working there for a few hours so the Kaiser was like this for the whole time. When I eventually finished and got back above ground the GSM icon registered a few bars and I could make a call. There was no audio though - the screen displayed 'Connected' and adjusting the volume did nothing for the audio of the call. The resolution was to soft-reset the Kaiser and then everything was OK.
I had the same behaviour last week when I was working at the same place, but last week I just thought it was a random glitch, todays repeat makes me think it is something more.
Any ideas?

Radio is 1.65.20.29.....
Plus it is security unlocked and HardSPL'd using HardSPL 3.56 from JockyW
That's a good radio, usually. Maybe reinstall the radio or have you tried other 65 radios?
Maybe this will help, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=no+audio&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&num=10&lr=&as_filetype=&ft=i&as_sitesearch=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com&as_qdr=all&as_rights=&as_occt=any&cr=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&safe=images

It's going to be a bit difficult to test as I am not likely to be working there again for a while.....
I'll keep an eye on it and see if it occurs again under any different circumstances.
I did search prior to posting......
Andy
Hmm, it's happened again but different circumstances...
This has just happened again however the circumstances were different. There was no loss of GSM signal, however I did have the GPS & WiFi enabled prior to it failing. I made a call but I didn't hear any ringing, it then said connected but there was no audio. I soft-reset and it is now working again.
I have since enabled WiFi and started TomTom and tested it again and it is working so it doesn't seem consistent.
I upgraded the Radio at the weekend to 1.65.24.36 so this has happened on two different radio versions as well.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour? Is it possible the Kaiser is faulty? (I don't think so, but you never know?)

there is anohther thread that seems related.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=352906
Might prove to be a good place to see if any of your issues are related. Still no fix, unfortunately . . .
I think its related to 3G
I live in area where there is no 3G coverage(ATT sucks!) so I have to turn off 3G functionality in the phone. If I keep 3G mode on then everything works fine but I get the same problem of no audio.
So I suggest try turning off 3G mode when you get this problem and see if this fixed the issue.
Hope that helps,
Regards,
Hardik
I've had this happen twice on AT&T in the last two weeks with official released ROM 1.62.502.0, 1.27.14.09 radio. Both times it happened after I was in an area with sketchy coverage, then returned to good coverage. It was also in a 3G coverage area that would go back and forth between 3G and 2G.
I have a friend who has the same stock ROM and radio, AT&T Tilt phone, who this happens to all the time. He believes it happens when his phone goes to G, and then back to E. Typically that happens if you are close to losing a signal, the phone reverts to GPRS, then bounces back up to EDGE.
I just tried an experiment with some aluminum foil wrapped around the phone to attenuate the signal and bring it back, and couldn't reproduce it. But I don't have 3G here today, so no idea if this is some kind of interaction with 3G.
I don't see any correlation between this and the other thread where the phone ringer is going to zero volume. For me this is complete silence on the call in both directions, even though the phone says connected. When you dial a number, you don't even hear the ringback tone while the phone is ringing on the other end. The other person cannot here you.
One odd thing - I tried to play an MP3 file when the phone was in this state, and heard nothing. I toggled the system volume up and down, to mute, to vibrate, back to full, it didn't make any difference -- still no sound.

Yes, this sounds like exactly the same issue I am seeing. The volume drop to zero is something different - I can move the volume slider up and down when this happens and there is no audio in or out, the only resolution is to soft-reset.
At least it sounds like it isn't a faulty Kaiser
How do you go about raising this as an issue with HTC in an attempt to get them to fix it?
Cheers
Andy
I am also having this loss of sound issue. In a very unscientific test, I seem to have narrowed it down to my use of voice command. By any chance are you using voice command? I turned completely off via the settings and have not had the issue in almost a week. Prior to that it was almost a daily occurrence.
Yes, I have been using MS Voicecommand. Maybe there is a particular build at fault. Last time I had this problem was earlier today, with MS voicecommand 1.6.19209.Bengalih.
I'll try running without Microsoft Voicecommand at all in a fresh ROM for a while, see if that changes anything.
This sounds like the issue discussed here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392606 - and here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390977 - discussion in both threads have died for there was no solution found yet... I had to switch back to Hermes but still keeping the Tilt in the hope that there will be a solution that will bring it back into the usable state.

[Q] little help here....

weird problem, kind of a biggy, my phone wont receive calls. I've run through several pages of google search over this issue, no answer, though I came across a few people with similar issues. I figured xda would be my best bet, if you guys can't help me...
Everything else works great, web, email, sms, outgoing calls, everything but incoming. This is kind of a big deal, I sort of need my phone to be working. When I get an incoming call, the phone vibrates, rings once, then goes silent. There's nothing on the caller id, but I did note that the signal drops to zero when it rings, dropping the call. From the other end, you just get cut off, it doesn't direct you to voice mail even.
I am currently running paragon rc6 rom, but just swapped over from the phoenix 5.2 rom tonight, as I mistakenly thought the issue was with the rom, but considering that it has continued even after flashing a new rom, it would seem to be something else entirely.
I don't know what the issue is, I swapped sims with my wife's phone, worked just fine calling her phone with my sim, but my phone still wouldn't work with her sim in it.
I have had the battery in and out a half dozen times in the past 24 hours, so I don't think that's going to fix the issue......I don't know what else to try. Can't very well call Rogers since they'll just blame the issue on the fact that I was screwing around with my phone, and since it flashes back to a stock at&t confige, I can't very well flash it back and pretend I never did anything
appreciate your help, stressing me out a little, need my phone for work, and my wife will have my balls if I broke it

Technical Aspects of Ghost Call Issue

OK guys, LG Turkey keep asking me what are the symptoms of ghost call issue. So I thought it might be a good idea to point out all the problems related to ghost call isue so that they can understand the problem better and find & fix it from the core. IF LG asks you about detailed problem, you can C/P this list.
-The problem is related to USIM handling.
-When you try to call someone, if the USIM is crashed, the phone will give you a warning like "Wait for internal process to complete."
-If you go to contacts, you will see that the phone is trying to pull SIM contacts. When the process is over, Phone will tell you that "USIM Loading done". After that, you can make your call.
-If you call someone, sometimes, after the firt 5 seconds of connection, USIM crashes and you start hearing a buzzing noise. Now try to call the same person again, you can't. You will have to wait for USIM to be loaded again.
-When USIM crashes during a call, the end call button will not work for a time.
-Sometimes, USIM driver or handler, or whatever it is, crashes when someone call you. If this happens, then the phone keeps ringing until you reject the call. If you do not reject, the phone keeps ringing until the battery is full drained.
-When USIM handler crashes, it does not recover automatically always. This is the time you recieve neither calls nor SMSs.
I think:
-The problem has nothing to do with either 2G or 3G
-Nothing to do with hardware
-It is all related to baseband or USIM driver that comes with Gingerbread version.
These are all the problems I have experienced so far. Please comment if you had different problems, but only related to ghost calls.
What I don't understand is that not every body has the ghost calls issue.
I bought my phone second hand. Original owner bought it at July for 600€. he had it upgraded to 21A. No root no nothing. Its a Greek phone. I never had the ghost calls issue as long I was using it stock. Also the battery was extra ordinary. Maybe 30% all day.
After a week I decided to root. A bad decision and phone bricked. I unbricked it but baseband changed. Again no ghost calls.
I repartitioned it, changed a few Roms again no ghost calls.
I came think its a hardware issue for a few. So better thru to find what you have in common with others or demand a refound.

In my opinion it can't be an hardware problem, because with Froyo Rom never happen... and the hardware is the same.
maybe something related to sim card, carrier or coverage?
I never had ghost calls with Froyo. It all started when upgrading to Gingerbread. I also experienced dropped calls with a buzzing noise and RIP (Reorganizing Internal Process) messages while trying to make a call. This is consistent with what cool_recep posted. I cannot say much about SMS because I don't use them a lot.
It might be useful for LG to know the frequencies at which my carrier operates:
COSMOTE GSM 900
885 – 890
930 – 935
COSMOTE DCS 1800
1760 – 1785
1855 – 1880
COSMOTE UMTS
1950.3 – 1965.3
2140.3 – 2155.3
1905.1 – 1910.1
I never had baseband or airplane mode crashes, like others have posted around the forum, or the reorganizing internal process problem, I just had a guaranteed instance of a ghost call, so there were probably more. I had called someone, he answered and said he was busy and that he'll call me back in 2 minutes. After 5 minutes of looking at the phone I called him back and he said he called me but I didn't answer. I had been using the GB rom (v21a official, via kdz update) for a few weeks without having any of the other problems, but once I had confirmation that ghost calls occur for me too I went back to froyo.
As for the frequencies, I can't get any clear info off the web, but Orange Romania runs on either 900, 1800 or both. 99% of the time I was on 2g only.
I think it´s nice to tell which operator everyone is using.
Operators work differently, sending data in a different way from the others. For example: some send NITZ information all the time, others send just when the device attaches to the network.
The ghost call issue may happen only with operators which send some kind of data others don´t, or with operators which send too much data, triggering the bug which crashes the USIM, who knows?
I use Vodafone.
//Sees that actually his operator can be seen on the left. //Facepalm
I have v20c and am with rogers in Canada. Haven't had any ghost call issues whatsoever
Sent from my LG-P925g using XDA App
I am going to update to that new Portugal ROM 21A and check it out...
I've got the v20c rom for Hong Kong. Ghost call is still here (but less frequent)
But then I noticed the data connection is very unstable... even if I haven't been moving around, and staying in a place of strong signal. Wonder what caused the problem...

Sometimes Bad Reception?

Hi,
observing this problem for quite a few weeks. Sometimes my complete signal drops down to zero, without moving the phone.
Turned off 3g -- still the same. Need to switch in airplane-mode and back to get normal signal again.
Its really annoying because if I don´t notice it, nobody can call me for hours...
Unfortunately my warranty has expired..
Any Suggestions? Should I try another radio?
By the way, its s-off, using fallout and installed the newest radio (from the offi ICS Upgrade)
I also experience the same, although doesn't take that long for signal to return but certainly do watch larger swings in the.signal reception
Only really occurs in weak signal areas and certainly better than I've screen it do on some previous Rom/radio versions
Although I'm not getting missed calls or many voice mails which suggestions that my incoming calls aren't being affected greatly.
Sywepd form my DsereiS
I have this problem too, but i have previous radio from 2.3.5. I don't have missed calls but this is annoying.
