Does anyone else have this weird memory problem. So I start my day off with my in use program memory at about 49%. Check a couple emails, turn on my wifi, make a few calls and by noon my in use program memory creeps up and up. I close all applications and have nothing running and keeps going up till my TC is virtually freezing up. Any insight?
Thanks,

Well, Windows Mobile alone usually does not close apps. It only minimizes them.
Make sure you have installed HTC Task Manager aka HTC X Button or another task manager like WkTASK. These apps have the ability of really closing the app and thus making memory available.

Do you have it set to close apps on X tap, close apps on tap and hold or disabled?

Then try switching to WkTask. In my opinion it's the best task manager available for the mobile. Amongst other things, it shows you cpu usage and running processes.

Thanks I will try it and post my results. The memory leak is very slow but is annoying to see.

Yay, 100% success rate still!
Not to break the streak, but it doesn't work for me After a 2-3 minutes, I get a popup that says "the process com.htc.bg: has stopped unexectedly. Please try again" and makes me force-close it.

you have too many fb friends.
This happened before and was tested and retested with a few people...
As funny as that seems, you just have too many for it to sync lol
(at least that was the case with the 4 other people that had this error)
So that feature is just completely unusable because of the # of friends I have on facebook? That's crappy enough to make me consider taking the phone back!
What/where is the memkill setting?

That's what my tests pointed to....
Anyways, try Autokiller from the market, use the presets and set it lower.

lol... you'd really like so many contacts linked to your phonebook???? wow
I only have about 500. Not even close to 1000...
What specific settings to I change in Autokill?
Although my Facebook contacts have updated, I no longer see Updates in the Updates and Events tab of the people app. I see events (birthdays) but no updates.
Is this an issue that needs to be addressed does anyone know ?
The problem is the memory killer is basically shutting off the auto sync for facebook. So what you need to do is download the app in the market called "Auto Killer" and you can save the values that damageless has put in place, or You can just hit Menu -> Presets and set it to default then try syncing.
Wait a few mins or more like 30 just to make sure that everything is done. Then if you want to you can set it back to the values that Damage had on there. Or just set it to a preset of Aggressive

that many FB friends?
Do you really want 500 of your FB friends to be in your phonebook? Do you really call them all? I'm trying to find a way to lower to my ACTUALL friends, not FB friends.

Yeh that was a question that I was asking since day one. If you want to kill it just go to end all or click on the moxiar icon when you see it on systempanel app list.
Better enough open all your important apps, exclude them. Then go to your home screen then add the system panel widget. Its a direct end all function.
also try eRay
Or.. even better, don't do any of that.. and just let the phone sort itself out.. I've got no task managers etc. on my phone and I've had it on for 14 hours now, with moderate use... and I've only used 34%.. 2.5% per hour, roughly... and it runs like a dream too..
I just updated to the newest Froyo release, and now TaskPanel X is not showing up in the market. I was just using it with a previous Froyo release, so it should work just fine on this release. Could someone please post a link to it here?
I like TaskPanel X the best of all of the app killers because it has the option to kill certain apps when you press the power button and put your DInc in sleep mode. Besides the app "Advanced Task Killer", does anyone know of another app that does this well?
Based on what I've read and what I've heard others say online I wouldn't use a task killer at all. Google it, you'll find quite a bit on the subject.
What I would recommend is SystemPanel to monitor things and see if any apps actually need to be killed.

I know... I've read about how killing apps can cause system instability due to removing dependencies, etc. The main thing I use TaskPanel X for is all of the non-system apps so my phone can sleep. Can someone grab it for me please?
I also use taskpanel x. I installed it from appbrain.com. You can push apps to your phone from the website even if they aren't in the marketplace for you.

So is TaskPanel X not showing up for anyone else who installed the latest Froyo release? Or, does anyone know why this is happening?

Not a problem, I'm glad I could finally help someone.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
But I was wondering if it's possible to be able to Kill all apps with a hardware button as if it were linked to a task killer, for example whenever you press the search key all apps get closed
Thanks
Not trying to be rude, but why would you want that?

Thought of it earlier, Just seems easier than havin to bull down the status bar and close apps in three clicks when you could do it with one on an unwanted hardware button
But I see what you mean
Yes it was in the wrong section but not by much , i moved it 4 u.
To your question yes its possible but i dont know of any one click programs to do this.
I currently have my long press search set to advance task killer, its close enough for my needs, task killer and switcher in one.
I use a program called LauncherKey, its $ on market if memory serves me but its free here on xda, with it u can set any app to long press search.

What's the difference between HTC 'Task Manager' and 'Running Services' Under Application in Settings?
I get the general difference between a task and a service. But is the Ram allocated separately for user and the system?
The Task Manager shows 100mb free while the Running Services in Application shows 229mb.
Which should I trust? And how to free up more ram in task manager? It shows not running app currently, and I just disabled a ton of services from auto startup. Things I dont need.
RAM cannot be increased
@Russell bro check this link out forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1890835

@fash1 try using the link I mentioned above .......... It increased my system's ram & speed
Using swap for this phone is useless. This kind of apps are great if you have 256 mb's or below, for pico it is even possible to make it slower than it is now

Dude please change the thread name. It will mislead most of the forum members.
Make it How to increase available system RAM?
Ok now I get what is the idea.
Now there is huuuuge possibility that I'm totally wrong about this but anyway.........
Firstly running services should show, what is currently running and how much ram is free, the task manager should show running services AND cached processes, from there comes the difference. With some kind of task manager you should be able to stop unneeded stuff, or some kind of cleaner (fast reboot for example). If you are using a CM rom in 'developer options' there is 'background process limit' option, so it should do the trick.

Yay! Thanks
And yes the topic was rather misleading. And I am not even on stock. It was just something I was wondering. Guess HTC does not show the processes it needs to keep the ui running. While rebooter and estaskmanager kills all processes in the memory then relaunches the launcher and everything when needed.
