It seems that my GPRS usage is not appearing on my usage details on my O2 account.

Does anyone have this?
I can't even find this information on my online O2 account - where do you find stuff like that out?
Regards
It will show up eventually, my usage is at least 2 months behind, if I look at my online account now, it shows my GPRS usage from March! I am about to enter my third year with O2 online and they have never sorted this problem out. So be carful with what you use or it might catch you out!
It should be somewhere under the unbilled usage section, a sub catergory to your online bill. Im only in my 2nd month with O2 now so I guess its just behind, abit frustrating, if I do go over my limit and get a stupid charge then they could be partly responsible for my overuse due to their malfunctioning reports? Thank god for the GPRS report application.
Continuing in my quest for 'thicky of the year award', how do I get hold of GPRS report - sounds useful?
Regards
Its in your unbilled usage - then click 'inclusive allowance' and use the drop down box to select your number... (silly - and if you get the favicon error just click back) - Damn Reddot CMS messing up!
Likewise (although if I check now i bet i've been charged) - I havent had any GPRS usage come up (include mobile web) for a while now!
Thanks - found it
Says I have a 100kb allowance with none used - as you say, well out of date
I'm trying spb GPRS monitor BTW - seems really very effective.
Regards
Here's a weird follow-up for you.
spb GPRS monitor works well when I connect myself. However, I also use Tomtom plus services (satnav) which automatically makes a BT connection with my Jamin to download weather and traffic data via GPRS. This worked today as usual but GPRS monitor shows no usage. I also looked at the pda screen whilst Tomtom was connecting and the little G sign at the top didn't change and there was no indication of any connection, even though data was clearly flowing!
Any ideas?
Regards
I've used shedloads of GPRS since I bought an Alpine last August and thus far I've never been charged a penny for it. It says I have an allowance of 100kbytes/month but it always shows zero used, even though in some cases I've gone over 10mbytes in one month!
They sure have a strange business plan!
You may have an old account with them. I've been with them for 6 years on the same number (but switched around contracts a bit), and never been billed a penny for it.
Either they got it wrong, or I get inclusive GPRS (which is more likely, realistically!)
If you yell at them over the phone about expensive GPRS rates, and threaten to leave (say 3 offered you a better deal), and they might cut your £/MB. Sounding frustrated yields the best results.
Apparently 3 have the cheapest data rates.
Thx - great info
Having fixed my SMS problem, I now have another question.
Should the GPS work out of the box? I have added the googlemaps app but can't seem to pull up my location.
Should I try hard reboot? Any suggestions on how to get this working?
No, don't try a hard reset. First download the satellite updates from Quick GPS and then your device should pick up a GPS signal.
I had to set mine to com port 4 before it worked. Any slow baud rate seems to work.
My first fix took me over 20 minutes, now it's faster, but nothing compared with my HTC 3300.
Yer the GPS takes the longest to get the first fix...same with most devices....if its been offline for a while again it takes a little longer.
For example my holux bt321 says it will get a fix in 6 seconds....but the first fix was around 4 minutes.
On the Touch Pro I also had the same problem, I switched to the GPD1 port (???) and then I got a fix in Google Maps. The location indicated was a good 100 - 200 meters away from where I was though, so could the GPS be wrong? I had already downloaded the QuickGPS data before leaving the house 15 minutes earlier, so that should not be the issue.
What are the GPD ports anyways? On which port does/should the internal GPS communicate with WM6.1 / GoogleMaps?
Also, is there somewhere to enable or disable the GPS in the first place (not in the navigation software that is?)
Hello guys,
I have a request for an app. I've searched around and so far i could see i didn't see any app for this.

Just got my TB - loving everything about it except the battery. My iphone 3g had an exceptional battery.
During the recent 4g outage - I checked out the settings at *#*#4636#*#* to get the 4g radio to switch to cdma auto.
While there I noticed that both my 4g and 1x speed icons on the notification bar would light up the send arrow every three seconds (barring any other kind of network activity) when idle. I noticed on the phone info area it lists PPP sent and PPP received. Every three seconds my sent data numbers increased by 241 bytes.
EVERY. THREE. SECONDS! Thats 20 times a minute, 1200 times an hour. Every hour, my phone sends 289,200 bytes somewhere. During the course of a 24 hour day (if my battery can last that long) - that's 6.6 megabytes a day or 200 megs a months just sitting idle.
While not a lot of data - I'm sure 28,800 transmissions from the cell radio a day can have a drain on the battery.
Is there a way of seeing which app is transmitting data and where? I read a similar bug was found on Win Phone 7 devices.
If this has been discussed before I'm sorry. Searching for "241 bytes" showed no hits.
Also on a side note - just noticed on my TB that when a calendar reminder appears on my lock screen, when you slide down to dismiss the event, you go right into the phone even though there is a security lock (lock pattern for me) enabled. So you can gain access to any TB by simply waiting for a calendar event. Not cool!
Network keep-alive?
is your sync turned on?
that would be great if it was a bug and we could figure it out.
well I sync using the minimum settings - disabled stocks and twitter sync. Most others are set to the lowest sync settings.
Even if this is just a keep alive ping - 1/4 gig a month can cut into data limits if you don't have an unlimited plan. And this is when the phone is sitting idle.
I Noticed My Phone Randomly Submitted 3g Data (No 4g Here) when rooted on custom rom and when I was Stock. Idk Why. I have Only Mobile Network Checked. No Auto Sync. No Background Data on. Idk Why I randomly see that Arrow go up. Maybe its an app I have..hmm..
Went To Battery Stats and checked Network Usage in Battery History. Then Check all Time. Shows Internet as the Most, Then 0 (Idk what this is) Then Media (What Media?) then Dialer, Then Android System then Market, then all Others (Rest dont matter because usage is so low.)
I'm having this issue also, except more data is being used each time than what you posted in OP. I had background data turned off and it still happens. Would like to see this worked out.

Just got my N5 last week and I'm having some battery issues.
Battery life seems to be just fine when I'm at work (after 8 hours, it's only down to 85% or so, with minimal use). However, when I'm at home, the battery drops off rapidly. It was down to 25% after just 6 hours, also with just minimal use.
What gives? I haven't changed any settings. It looks like my signal is weaker at the office (2 bars) vs. home (5 bars). At both locations I leave WiFi on and can connect to the local network.
I checked battery settings now (at home) and Google Play Services is using 30%. Not sure what it was at when I was at work.
Any ideas?

I don't know this for a fact, but I was having a similar thing happen to me. I disabled Google Now (for testing purposes) and my "Google Play Services" on the battery list had lowered. The Google Play Services was not what was using most of my battery but it went down significantly. Do you have that enabled? If so, maybe try disabling that feature and testing it to see if it helps. Having that enabled will pull your location constantly and something small like there being more businesses or things to visit around your home it may try and pull info more than when you're at work.
Also, surely you had the right of mind to make sure GPS itself is disabled in your OS? Are either of the routers you use, at work or home, dual band as opposed to single? Have you tried restarting your phone when you get to work initially to make sure it connects to a closer cellular tower?

Thanks for the quick response. I had Google Now running, so I'll try disabling it and see if it helps with the battery. Google Play Services is still running at 30% under battery settings (and Android OS at 18%, Screen 17% - same as before).
Maybe it is something to do with the router? I'm pretty sure my home wifi router is single band (Linksys WRT160N). Would single band greatly decrease the battery life? I have no idea what we use at work. Something Cisco, I'm pretty sure, but don't know how old it is.

Well the biggest thing is dual band provides a signal over a greater length than single band. So if something like Google Now is running and you're connected to a dual band router, it'll suck more power and info at greater distances. That's all I was referring to Plus with dual band routers you will get a better speed depending on your internet provider so typically people do more because their phone responds faster.
Try it for a few days without Google Now enabled and it should make a difference, at least a little.
The other thing to keep an eye on is your Mediaserver process. Some apps will keep it open, which keeps an ongoing wakelock. So even if your device is "sleeping" (you're not using it) it's actually awake and chewing up battery. I have a couple of games that I have noticed this with and am now in the habit of closing the app out instead of just switching apps.
Predictably mediaserver shouldn't be anymore than a few % through the day, but it's kind of random how much it affects the battery.

Everything is a shot in the dark without a BetterBatteryStats log. Head over to the app section and grab the beta.
It could be the router. You say you can connect to the wifi at work and at home, but do you?
Please attach a BBS log to your next reply. Give us at least 2-4 hours of data to interpret.

Thanks for the help. I installed BetterBatteryStats and have attached the two log files. Hopefully you can read it, it looks a bit garbled when I open it with notepad.
It looks like the top kernels at home are:
bam_dmux_wakelock (): 1 h 42 m 37 s (6157 s) Cntc/wc/ec)1291/12/0 45.7%
wlan_rx_wake (): 1 h 10 m 9 s (4209 s) Cntc/wc/ec)3140/628/3139 31.3%

wlan_wd_wake (): 26 m 26 s (1586 s) Cntc/wc/ec)12433/230/0 11.8%
While at work they are:
PowerManagerService.WakeLocks (): 15 m 25 s (925 s) Cntc/wc/ec)665/59/0 6.5%
wlan_ctrl_wake (): 11 m 2 s (662 s) Cntc/wc/ec)189/88/190 4.6%

wlan_wd_wake (): 2 m 57 s (177 s) Cntc/wc/ec)2477/60/0 1.2%
Again, I don't change any of the settings on my phone when I go to work. I connect to and access the wifi network at both locations (both show the up/down arrows by the WiFi button in the menu).
Any thoughts on what this means? It's time to do some googling...

OK, it appears to be MUCH better after setting location to "Device Only". 87% after 2hrs idle instead of 70% before. :good: Still not quite as good as when I'm at work (where both the wifi and cell signal are weaker). I've attached a log file from the past two hours.

I thought I had this issue resolved, but since yesterday it has come back with a vengeance. (any way to check what system changes took place?)
I've attached a BBS log from the past 3 hours.
Here's what I've done so far:
Turned off system backup (which really helped cut down data usage and save battery)
Turned off Google Now
Location services are set to Device Only
Google play store: turned off auto-update apps AND Notifications
In the last 2 days data usage for Android OS went up from almost zero (and I had great battery life at the time) to 17.5mb (ALL BACKGROUND), and I have no idea why.
This morning I tried uninstalling Viber, and I turned off facebook notifications, but neither of those helped.
Any ideas?

Unfortunately yes... I'm getting really tired of this. What's the next step? Full factory reset and reinstall all my apps?
Go into your router settings and change your Beacon Interval to 150 (default 100), and DTM to 7 (from 1)
Reboot router, reboot phone.
