hello all....ive been looking around for a way to make the Palm Threading cab into an oem package. idk if its possible or not but from what ive seen its way beyond me considering how the app integrates itself into the os. another reason why idk if its possible or not.
the reason why i want to do with is bc i really like the palm threading app...but i find it that it majorly decreases the speed of ur wizard for some reason or another. all i use my phone for is calling and txting so if i had this as an oem package i could cook my rom and hopefully it would not slowdown the overall system...idk if its possible or not.
thanks before hand!...and yes i have done alot of searching on this....lol
o and sry if im completly retarted in thinking all this lol
it might be possible, but you need to provide a cab
cab
alright ill pm u the link. bc i no ppl got in trouble for posting the cab b4
Did anyone ever get the MMS feature wokring on a Wizard???
i was able to create a OEM package for this program...but it doesnt work when building the rom.
when i try to build i get an error
"The target file "temp\dump\htmlnote.dll" is a directory, not a file."
i never got the initflashfile generator program to work so i had to create my own
initflashfile if that matters. here is a copy

and i also made the .rgu file with the help of the cab analyzer
if anyone can help it would b great appreciated, im using a base rom with no other OEM packages. if any one needs the palm threader cab let me know. thanks
The issue is that this overwrites a currently existant file. Chec that portion out. I have been attempting to get this working along with Arcsoft since the mms ability does not work with this application.
ya ur right...i went through the sys folder and deleted the files as the error would appear and made it oem build process but then got an error could not create default.hv and user.hv. does this mean i screwed up in my .rgu file?
i made the .rgu file in textpad and just copied the regestry intres from the cab manager and saved as unicode
i have linked it below
and yes i this process doesnt really and OEM package bc u cant just drag and drop it in...im just seeing if i can make a rom with the palm app preinstalled,
thanks again for the help
Based on your intitflashfile.txt file you provided, these duplicate named files are not really duplicates (as it appears you are moving them to \Windows\Palm Messaging (I assume this is how the cab does this?). If thats the case, then don't rememove the original versions from the rom. Instead prefix all of the files (or the duplicate ones at least) in your package with palmmessaging_ or pm_ or somesuch to make them unique. Then in your initflashfile.txt you would do something like this:
Code:
Directory("\Windows\Palm Messaging"):-File("htmlnote.dll","\Windows\palmmessaging_htmlnote.dll")
By doing this, both files can exist in the \Windows folder, but then when it moves it to true destination it will then be renamed to the correct name that that app expects.
Personally, I hate putting stuff in my roms where you have duplicates of the files in both \Windows and then in some other directory. Seems like such a waste (but you have to do that sometimes based on what you are trying to make into a package).
Hope that helps.

As for your rgu, get rid of all the spaces! Example:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{283E0018-E5C9-44e4-9864-4C4A3DED3BC3}]
"EventType" = dword : 00000002
should look like:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{283E0018-E5C9-44e4-9864-4C4A3DED3BC3}]
"EventType"=dword:00000002
I'm not sure if thats specifically the problem you have, but thats the first fix I'd do, as I don't think it likes things to be pretty
oh, here's another couple of problems I just noticed:
Code:
"AppName" = "\Windows\messaging.exe"
should be
Code:
"AppName"="\\Windows\\messaging.exe"
You have to use double backslashes in the .rgu file for the backslash to show up (otherwise it thinks you are escaping the next character).
Also, stuff like this is wrong:
Code:
"" = "LS6021023"
should be
Code:
@="LS6021023"
If you are using Core Kitchen you can use the tool in there to dump the cab file and it will give you a nice registry entry file to use.
wow thanks alot lol, man i didnt think i could mess up that much in 1 file lol.
umm in the .rgu file you say i should use \\ instead of \ is this universal throughout the file to where i could could use the find/replace function in textpad of is it more specfic? also with the "" needing to change to @.
thanks for the quick response and all the help
o and on the initflashfile, i was actually thinking about doing what u said b4, when nottosmart mentioned the error b4 was about a duplicate file and i did some searching and came to a post in the core kitchen thread(yes im using the core kitchen) about how to make OEM packages that said something in relation to what you said..but i didnt no at the time thats what i should do.
o and i use the cab analyzer(im not sure if its the same as the cab dumper u mentioned) in the core kitchen, thats how i came up with the reg entries in my .rgu file. all i did was opened the cab in the program and then clicked xml, regestry entries, and copied what was there.
thanks again

I think in your file the \\ for \ is universal (but not positive, I didn't read every line just scanned for things I know to look for). And yea, I think everywere you have "" = you could change that to @=
Also I noticed you had a hex: entry line. Not sure that one is correct format or not.
One thing that helped me a lot was to take a cab and install it. Then go into the registry with PHM Regedit or the Regedit in TaskManager and use the Export to dump out registry entries I knew were created by that install. This will give you the proper formatting.
ok i got the regedit tool and ill work on getting the reg entries that way....
but i tried what u said with initflashfile and i got the same error as b4 about how its a directory not a file....idk what to do...
what you need is an application called Cab Manager. It will give you the reg keys. and if you buy it you will be able to do an export on the reg keys which will work perfectly on in your package
hello, i was just wondering if you guys got the OEM package working yet. i have been using the palm threader for a few days and i love it. it has been a while since the last post here and i just wanna see if its working or not. thanks in advanced and if it is working, please let me know where to get it.

this looks great man,
what language is it coded in?
i'm just wondering because I would like to get into this coding business myself
EDIT: I just tried a test cabinet file (opera mini) which contains a _setup.xml file, and it said that it did not? same results in a different .cab that had an _setup.xml file in it

Can't seem to figure out why your RGU files "CustomClassNames" ends with 00,00... if you open _setup.xml in a hex editor it's 80,80... also the \ in the middle makes no sense to me...
EDIT:
Found this regarding the \
"Large Value Data Strings can span onto more than one line, in which case each line (except the last one) is terminated by a comma (,) followed by a SINGLE backslash mark (\) and consecutive lines are separated by carriage returns (CR)"
...so it's not important
EDIT:
http://www.microsoft.com/express/product/default.aspx should get you started with some coding if that's the route you want to go - Express editions are free

I see that (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms724884(VS.85).aspx)
But I don't understand why I'm seeing 4A4245445F544558544649454C443F3F3F3F3F3F3F3F3F3F3F3FEF8080 and not 4A4245445F544558544649454C443F3F3F3F3F3F3F3F3F3F3F3FEF0000 when looking at the _setup.xml file in a hex editor. Any ideas?
I'm using System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes to read the string and converting each of them to a string (using ToString("X2"))
The RGU file mbarvian posted has 0000 in the end ...

Nice app, I'll have to give this a go when I get time to start cooking again.
I've added it to wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser#ROMx20.Cooking
I'm not too sure about a sticky, no other ROM cooking tools are. Just my 2c's.

well, I'm very glad to say that I have not had any problems with v0.0.0.4
great job and I look forward to future releases man
There are some flaws in the conversion. Hopefully, this can be fixed in the next version. Here's the description of the flaws:
1. For "\" that is specifying a path, the rgu should have "\\". For eg. "\Windows\Cookies" should be "\\Windows\\Cookies".
2. For " that is specifying a long path, the rgu should have "\". For eg. ""jbed.exe" -m %1" should be "\"jbed.exe\" -m %1".
Another flaw for registry with DWORD key. It produces the RGU file which uses decimal value in the DWORD key, which is completely wrong. Hopefully this can be fixed in next version, too.
Hello guys, I have got Igo 8 in only one file on the web, and once I unzip it and click to run, it give me an error: "Failed to open file: ui_igo_da\480_640\loading.bmp exiting application."
Whats up? why this error? What could I do to use Igo8 on my fuze?
Thanks

the same way, thank you for "trying".
sorry mate, i didn't realise you had brought it, as you didnt mention it! i have igo8 on my touch pro, i set it up awhile ago though! i had 2 folders, one called iGO8 and one called 2577, in the 2557 folder, i ran the autorun.exe and it setup all fine, both folders are in the root of the storage card. i don't have a folder called "ui_igo_da\480_640\" though. sorry i can't be of more help
in igo8 folder you've got a file called data.zip
in it you will find the ui_igo8_da\....
just search for another data.zip on the net until you find one that works (or a combination of igo8.exe, data.zip and branding.zip that works)

i don't have igo8 installed on my hd2.
i have it on my sd card and ususaly i make a shortcut to igo8.exe from my sa card in order to run it
if you can make it work, maybe you post here a step by step guide
thanks a lot!
1) Modify the "config.ini" file with a text editor (eg. notepad).
So if you're using TomTom for example the Path looks like this:
Path=Program Files/Navigator/TomTom Navigator.exe
2) Create a directory named "CoPilot" in "\Program Files".
3) Copy the "CoPilot.exe" and your modified "config.ini" files in this directory.
4) Start the NaviPanel and it should work.
If it doesn't work it is maybe you're using a custem ROM and you have to register "alksdk.dll". To do so create the followong registry key :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\NaviSW]
"SDKModule"="\\windows\\alksdk.dll"
I included my .cab which does everything for you, so you only have to change the "config.ini" file if you're not using TomTom. It creates a shortcut for NaviPanel in Programs - GPS, adds an icon I like to NaviPanel, starts TomTom and register the dll.
Good Luck guys hopefully this was helpfull for you.

"SDKModule"="\\windows\\alksdk.dll"

1) Modify the "config.ini" file with a text editor (eg. notepad).
So if you're using TomTom for example the Path looks like this:
Path=Program Files/Navigator/TomTom Navigator.exe

Awesome thanks for your help.
I am making some progress now. I was unable to even get clickiable icons in the navipanel.
After installing the cab I have clickable icons in the navipanel but when I click them I get a message apperar that says "-2147479552" All I can do is hit OK but it keeps reapperaring.
My tom tom is installed directly to the root of the storage card. When I change the path to point to my exe file all the icons in the navipanel are greyed out again.
What am I missing here?

For the case of TomTom just install TomTom on your device and not on the Storage Card.
For iGo8 verify carefully the path to your Storage Card. If you use a different language ROM the name of the Storage Card is not always the same.
Keep in mind that the config.ini file uses "/" and not "\" in the path. (it was like that and I never tried to change).
Keep also in mind that NaviPanel often stays resident, so after changes kill it with a Taskmanager or reboot your device.
If still not working try to Google the HD2 section in the forum. There is some information about iGo8. Copy the .exe and some .dll and the sys.txt out of the root of iGo8 directory and put them in the CoPilot directory, then change your sys.txt for the right paths.
i get that same number error "2455,,,,,,,"
this stuff is driving me insane
cum on robert_mass....create a step by step tuitorial....i just need to know what has to be done in directing navipanel to igo8 exe

In nearly 3 minutes of time you read the post and tried everything I explained????
Come on...
Invest yourself also a bit. And use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php like I and the most members do.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I ended up copying the tom tom files (without the maps) to my device storage and it worked.
I have left the maps on my storage card and it still seems to work.
Thanks heaps for the help mate.
@Twilight, I think your problem will be the same as mine. Try making a Navigation folder in program files on yourt device and copy trhe igo8 files there, then change the exe name to TomTom Navigator. I reckon that will fix it (worked for me anyways)
Thanks again Robert

Ok, cool it worked for you!
Normally you install the TomTom .cab on your device (the HD2 has lots of memory) and the maps ofcourse you leave on your SD card (TomTom will find them there without any problem).

How does NaviPanel work with iGO8 in Windows Mobile Phones?
I tried many times to find the right suitable way to make the navigation program iGO8 work through the NaviPanel Application in my hTC hd2 and finally I found the solution to this problem.
You should do the following steps one by one to get the best results:
1-Create a file directory under the name CoPilot in your phone memory Program files
2-Install the cab file”MSN-NaviPanel” into your phone in your memory card (this application contains the necessary files to define the Copilot navi extension in the NaviPanel. Thanks to xda-developers forum.
3-After installing the “MSN-NaviPanel”cab file you will find two files which are “config.ini” and “Copilot” and “NaviPanel” inside the CoPilot folder that you created in the Program Files.
4-Now you have to open the iGO8 folder in the Program Files and copy the following files:
sys
gpstmc.dll
iGO8.exe
5-Paste them into CoPilot folder you created.
6-Change the name of the “iGO8.exe” file into “CoPilot.exe”.
7-Make another copy of the iGO8.exe file in the same CoPilot folder and name it “splashscreen.exe”.
8-Now you have 7 files in your “CoPilot” folder.
9-Make the following changes to “config.ini” and “sys” files
Sys file >>>>
[folders]
app="Storage card\igo_folder_as_you_named_it"
config.ini file >>>>>
Path=\Program Files\iGO8\iGO8.exe
KeepAlive=on
10-Don’t run NaviPanel when you are connecting the phone to the internet while doing this operation…. Wait till you finish everything.
11-Now do the soft reset to your device.
12-Run NaviPanel and enjoy iGO8 at the same time.
Note: if you receive a message which says that you should restart installing iGO8 because of the SDcard is not original don’t be afraid, do it and restart the program.
Best Regards
Mustafasamina
There's threads and posts on this already. Basically it just launches the program for the buttons on NaviPanel.

Agree for that!
Thanks for posting.I too had the same problem figuring bis out myself.
Is it possible for an xda-developer to built a cab to make the following:
a)Create a Copilot folder
b)Copy allsdk to windows folder and
c)Making the proper key to the registry
Thanks,
yes, but I think other explanations are not enough to do the operation and there are many visitors who dont have enough knowledge about programing. It is a matter of development but not invention. My all thanks to whom participated in providing all informations about such issues.

What do u mean exactly?
Did u get this when u installed the above mentioned cabs or what?
If so i suggest modifying your sys.txt clearly specifying the correct path.
[folders]
app="Storage Card/iGO8"
I hope this helps
Moreover can a cook\chef\wizkid from xda devs replace the htc navi crap with sth that works.I would prefer music player integration,cameraand ability to choose over GPS apps. I think it would have come up to be very handy for all of us and a lot of people would donate for this.

What can I do for resolve this problem ?

try first to get iGo8 working as stand alone. Check if it works when you directly execute it from sdcard.

you are trying to use igo Primo, and the folder global_cfg from content (on storage card) is missing. that's why.
the navipanel cab has made my phone unstable and keeps htc sense freezing
