Major crash today with WM6.1 and Radio 1.18 - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

Hi,
After using Ranju's WM6.1 ROM with Radio 1.18 I experienced some major problems today.
First I started to having problems with poor reception. Then one call went down and after that, each time I tried to started a new call, the radio would hang and I had to do a reset.
I would get the "Phone not ready" message when I tried to access the settings screen.
I tried reset's, removing the SIM, etc.
I actually thought the radio part was broken.
Then I installed radio 1.15 and everything started to work again.
Downgraded to Jwrightmcps Crossbow ROM Update 2.12.08 WWE now.
What a scare!
So if this happens to you, try to get rid of radio 1.18 first.
Unfortunatlu now my 4 GB HCSD is not recognized...
Cheers,
vma

well, ranju himself recommends radio 1.15 for his roms. i think radio selection is still a voodoo craft . it is probably dependent on many factors, some out of our reach. you should try and stick to the one you like (not too many choices there).

SDHC issue solved on page 11 (?): there is a cab to download...
Well, I do own 2 Universals now (and a BA). I used Jwright's .06 for a long time and was happy with it. Too happy, to update it to .08 for all the trouble it is to get everything as i like it.
It was on my second one, where I tried Ranju's ROM. I was really freaking out... Thought the phone was broken.
To tell the truth, the only thing I did like about WM6.1 was the message "You missed a call"...
Cheers,
vma

Me too had problems with 1.18 and downgraded to 1.15
Everythings fine now with the radiopart.
I never had any big problems with Ranju's ROM,
but now I'm testing the new PDAViet ROM and it's the fastest I've ever
flashed. The only problem I already had with it are some unmotivated
softresets.
Now I'm waiting for Ranju's 19900 version

The previous version of PDAviet generated unexpected reset too.
I changed for Ranju's 7.6 and now very stable (no change of radio 01.18)
The radio version can also depend of the network that you use (European, American...) but I don't kwon which radio version is more appropriated for which country.
For me Ranju's and 01.18 works fine, my SDHC 16 gb too

The strange thing is that Radio 1.18 did work fine for over a week!
It was from one moment to the other that I got this problem. Either the ROM got corrupt or it generated some invalid data.
Very freaky stuff...
Today I did not have any problem with the phone, using Radio 1.15 and Jwright's ROM, so it is definitly not a problem of the phone itself.
I have to add that I was using a cloned SIM during that week, but I have that SIM for a long time and it never gave any trouble (I have made myself two clones, so that I have a total of 3 SIM's: this way I can choose which phone to use, without having to replace the SIM).
Cheers,
vma

Any WM6 Rom without GPRS/Activesync reconnection issue?

Hey everyone I have been reading all over the place and cannot find an answer. Is there any WM6 rom that does not have the activesync GPRS reconnection issue? I see that jwright has found this issue and will be resolving it in his next version ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1185348&highlight=gprs+connection#post1185348 ), but is there a current rom that does not face this issue?
Thanks for the help guys!
According to my experience, all of them having the same problem till now, but i found that when i used DarkForce rome in combination with radio 1.15, i got the lowest number of problem occuring. So, may be the enhancement in radio 1.15.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been running darkforce's rom all day with no trouble. I went into a parking garage to test it and it found signal again pretty quick. I would have to say this rom def fixes my issues.
Wll I spoke to soon. I get the "modem cannot be dialed" error. Crap! this annoying. What ROM are all you Push user using? I cannot seem to find any luck.
had the same probs here.. went to radio 1.12
and after one week without reconnection problems.. it seems the best radio for me. (i use it in combination with pdaviet 2.01.08)

WM6 not yet ready for the wizard?

I tested over 10 different WM6 roms over the last 6 weeks. All of them are crashing a couple of times a day. Getting tired of missing calls or hanging wizard I decided to start cooking my own roms.
First in the kitchen from Faria. DEV-Wizcrossbow Clean v2. But the roms that came out where also crashing. Then the InGeNeTiC Kitchen same. Then the dOUbleofour_Wiz_Kitchen.
I wanted a good WM6 rom because I just like all the new little changes.
Am I the only one having those crashes at least 5 times a day? Or am I using the phone to haevy? ---> 40 calls a day, 1000 contacts, 2000 items in the calendar. None other application loaded as the defaults except TomTom.
Yesterday I decided to go back to WM5. I installed the excellent rom from Molski.biz He has put the crossbow team in it. It looks like the new WM6 roms.
And today I didn't have any crash!!!
Please I would like to hear other comments about the daily use of WM6. In all the forums I only read about a working or not working single program.
FYI
I have a WIZA200 (Original from t-mobile Netherlands)
Radio 2.19.11
IPL/SPL 2.21
Unlocked
Thanks,
Conrad

Is the radio version important for not crashing? Using this radio version in combination with molski.biz wm5 rom gives very good reception.
it should help stability and not missing calls.
Well I ran almost all WM6 romz and no matter what radio ver. I used I either got Missed calls, SMS, or could Not reconnect back the GPRS once I would reboot or had Lost signal
I tried RAdio ver.
2.47.11
2.19
2.69
They were all no good for me. I"m in the US and I"m in the NYC and NJ area
It was so bad I had to go back to WM5
I'm going back to Wm5 tonight when I get a chance, I'm not getting 90% of the SMS messages I'm told were sent or tested.. Used radio 2.61 and 2.19UK.
I get calls with 2.19, but no SMS.
I use Cingular/ATT and am in FL.
I am using 2.47 T-Mobile, Denver, CO.
Yeah 2.19UK didn't work for me either and I use Cingular in Atlanta. I switched to 2.47.11 and I am having better luck
Bahahah, I just bricked my G3 running a Wm5 update.
Hit 99% of the install and my computer BSOD'd with a USB error.
Now I can't install anything. Fantastic.
I installed the Crossbow Professional 1.7 based on Faria's ROM. At first I was pleasantly surprised and love the new features and look, but after about a week my directpush stopped working, I rebooted and now doing that caused me to lose registry settings and since then it has been crashing quite a bit, no calls, missed calls, no emails. For some reason my clock reset to 24 hr military style, my ring tone changed to something completely different...
What I don't understand is that MS demoed WM6 on the wizard and if you look at the new table interface MS demonstrated, they have an MDA there as well... why give up on this solid performed and not issue WM6 officially. It pisses me of that T-Mo US wants me to spend $300 to buy their Wing to get Mobile 6 when the MDA is completely sufficient. Especially since they don't even have the 3G network rolled out. I'd rather switch to AT&T and get the 8525 - the download speed is amazing on 3G.
Sorry for the rant...

I'm also in Florida and didn't have much luck with previous WM6 ROMs. When the InGeNeTiCs dogfood ROM was released, I installed the plain-jane version and had no problems. I decided to cook my own using mattk_r's Stripped and Ready kitchen and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I use the 2.19UK radio and have no missed calls, no ringtone changes (which I had with previous WM6 ROMs), no MMS problems (other than the sync issue which plagues everyone). I highly suggest cooking your own - put what you want in there and experiment. Once you find a mixture that you like, you'll be one happy WM6 user.
I'd suggest you leave out your WAP settings (keep GPRS from connecting) and see if you still have issues.
From what I've seen and read, the phones have a hard time juggling data and phone functions, and supposedly this is a weakness in all PDA phones like ours.
Same thing here
I have a US T-mobile MDA g3 too.
Been flash many wm6 ROMs. Then flash back wm5 because wm6 freeze on me all the time.
I just flashed TNT2 it seems better all my application works (spb shell, insight codewallet, memmaid, phatpad....) but still freeze once a while take quit long time to boot (it turns off by itself couple of time I have to take out the battery to boot) I will give other week test then decide to keep it or not .
All those wm6 roms none of them flawless on MDA, sometime not compatible with certain software I have, sometime just no sound after use the earphone ...
So T-mobile will never give out the official wm6rom for MDA? Like they did for Dash?

nope. they released the wing to basically screw us that bought the MDA. oh well im going to get the kaiser when it comes out anyways.
no problems with crashes here on any of the tested wm6 roms. running xplore 2.0 for some time now and still think its the best rom for me

Combination of OS and Radio

It seems they can't be freely combined. Shortly after I got my Kaiser I changed my ROM to HTC's (Shipping version GER), because I don't really like Orange's.
Anyways I also changed to Radio 1.27.12.29, and I had problems with Standby of deaths.
Today, by chance, I installed Radio 1.27.14.09, and it seemed fine, but now the sound was gone :S
Anyways, I find this rather weird. I could always combine any Radio with any Rom on my SPV m3100 without any problems. I've got the Radio it came with (.12.11) back on and I think it's fine now. Could it be device-specific?
Maybe someone's already written this somewhere, I didn't bother to check. Just thought I'd let you guys know...
Correct, the radio version and the RIL (Radio Interface Layer) module in the OS must match. I believe sleuth wrote it already somewhere.
1.27.14.09 radio only works with the latest AT&T os.
You can use any other radio except .14.09, unless you flash it with dutty's tilt touch flo rom or any other generic AT&T rom.

Read Before Upgrading To 6.1!

hey, i upgraded to schaps 6.1, didnt really like it so i then downgraded back to one of duttys roms. i then noticed that the gps wasnt working. i flashed a few different roms, even back to the original atnt rom with the original radio, and still nothing. the only way i got it to work is by upgrading back to schaps 6.1... i posted in the kaiser forum and other people hae experienced the same problem...whats going on?

But did you try a 6.0 ROM after trying a 6.1?
Problem with GPS
I tried a couple of 6.1 ROMs. Alec's beta had the issue of eventually connecting but it took about 10 minutes. I then tried a couple of others same thing.
Went back to Alec's Beta2, perfect. Using Quick GPS and CoPilot, maybe 30 seconds!!
Hope that helps.

Did you downgrade the radio to for example 1.27.12.17
ya when u go to 6.1 the gps works, its only when you downgrade back to 6.0 that some ppl seem to be having the problem where the gps doesnt work.. here is the link for the other discussion about this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365851
of course everybody is downgrading their radios too when they downgrade to v6.0...
right?
Thanks for the warning. But I think your situation is isolated to a VERY small portion of phones. I have had around 50 or so ROMs on my phone 6.0 and 6.1... been back and forth... and never had a problem with the GPS on any of them. The GPS is one function that I always check out while testing a ROM.
GPS Issue
I have upgraded to 6.1 back down to 6.0 then back up to 6.1 and had no GPS Issues at all.
GPS works fine on my tilt, i flash every 3hrs, i've flashed almost every rom out there and never had a gps issues.
This is an issue. What fixed it for me was flashing to EVO 2.0. I believe it is a problem with the warm start in the gps tool. You need quick gps because it cold starts.
I know a lot are going to say that's not true blah blah either way that fixed it for me.
Edit: Not EVO but SNE 2.0 i meant
my gps isnt working, it says it cant connect. i'm running DCS 1.4 WM6.1 rom, radio i downgraded to 1.58.26.20, still cant connect. any ideas? thanks!
i also ran the Cingular PDA MediaNet MMS Settingsv2.cab i got off of this forum somewhere, still no go. going back to 1.64.08.21 for the meantime to see if that does it...
switched back to sleuth's 3.0 with the 1.64.08.21 radio, no gps problems. weird.

Echoes when speaking

Hi there!
I got a WM6.1 ROM and RadioRom 2.19.21 .
In the last few days I always have people complaining about echoes when talking to me. On the Prophet side there´s good quality.
I am not sure if it could be the RadioROM, which I downgraded a few days ago because of everybody in this forum saying this one would be the best one. Don´t know exactly if the problem is since then.
Is there any chance of fixing any reg settings or something like that to get better quality for the other calling party?
maybe it is your radio rom. which 1 was it before you changed? some people say 2.19 is better but i'm using 2.69 with no problems at all. so try & change the radio rom to something else. apparently with radio roms it is trial & error
I had the 2.69 before but had more battery drain. So I tried to change to the 'older version'.
I wasn´t sure if the echo comes from the radio ROM or the Windows Version.
Will try to go back to 2.69 then. Thanks for your response.
