ETIT : more info and Specs
As expected, the Diamond is loaded with all the goodies:
* Windows Mobile 6.1
* VGA Screen
* Quad-band HSDPA 7.2
* One-touch navigation, including single-finger dialing
* An accelerometer that rotates pictures as you rotate the phone
* One-touch music playback with an animated music browser
* A heavily-animated weather forecast app
* Full-featured desktop-like web browser (Opera) with zoom-in tech that actually reformats to fit the screen upon zoom, although Microsoft promises IE 6 coming soon for it
* Youtube app and content playback
* Available in June in Europe via Orange and the “rest of the world” sometime later
* Orange music store, games, wallpapers, and ringtone downloads
* Orange mobile TV with up to 61 channels
* No normal headphone jack - gotta use HTC’s proprietary USB dongle
* “Better battery life” than their other devices (although it uses a smaller battery than the Touch - we’ll keep our eye on this) — will offer a bigger battery at a later time for those who are experiencing battery life issues
* No pricing info just yet

We don't know if it has a keyboard or not. Other websites have better pics and you can see clearly on the back that there is no flash, which is a let down.

eGPS will be fantastic, it'll work indoors!

don't need flash, need autofocus, tv out and NO slide keyboard hopefully, this device looks better than Xperia, my Trinity is on sale soon
and dimensions of this device looks like miracle!

looks neat

very nice
Very nice specs, the onboard 4gb memory is a big plus, and it looks nice too.

Looks mgood, still a bit too much wasted space with buttons on the bottom of the device. I would prefer to have a bigger screen with only RED/Green phone buttons.

Drool....flush screen. Can't stand the plethora of WM Pro devices with recessed screens - they are dust magnets, plus difficult to use with an on screen keyboard.

Ausome looking and thin!

2.8" screen... NEXT!

2.8" isn't that small - it's the same size as most Pro devices out now like the Kaiser. The difference will be the MUCH higher pixel density.

sexiest PDA ever...and a VGA screen to boot!

Looks good, can't wait for this one ... hope they fixed this driver problem

you can see a little demo video on htc.com!
looks very nice!

yeehaaaaaaaa
http://www.htc.com/europe/default.aspx the demo video is up also on HTC site

That's beautiful. Gorgeous design, stunning UI. I want

It's so gorgeous! However, the back cover will attract alot of smudges and fingerprints.. But idc, this phone is so beautiful!! I love the youtube integration. I think HTC did learn alot from SE, since so many SE phones have gorgeous screens and GUIs.
Despite not having a full hardware keyboard, the software one they have seems very nice. It's great for everything but playing some games, which is alright given the benefits. Also worthy of noting is the fact that it more than likely has video drivers because it has 3D touchflo.

Rudegar sit down and wait for "will htc release a working gpu driver for Touch Diamond" threads

LOL... I can't believe to MY EYES!
Not only that, but they demoed PIE 6, which is the new version shipping at the end of the year, which includes flash lite 3. This shows current generation devices will have enough power to run flashlite 3 when it comes out.
Surur
Any dump of that ROM???
..Maybe videocall works too!!!
lol, that's a full screen static image being displayed. Nothing shown suggests they are actually rendering you tube on the Uni.

At 0:55 you can see something.. like a zoom on Universal.
And anyway: if it is a screenshot.. Why there is the green softkey for keyboard?
But Windows Mobile 6.1 will be officially released for HTC Universal?

Unlikely
A lot of the Original development for WM6 was done on the Universal, because thats what the Engineers at Microsoft have (and because its so awesome )
So it would appear that Microsoft's Engineers are doing dev of WM6.1 on the Universal too. While this may mean that there is not likely to be an official version; it does offer hope of some nice ROM and driver leaks...
UPDATE:
I love it how the video says "Windows Mobile Browser 6.0 on WM 6.1" and yet the site is claiming "Mobile Internet Explorer 6.1"

At 55 seconds the presenter has changed the device that is being projected on to the larger display. The zooming you see is the person taping the event zooming THEIR camera out to capture the whole screen. The IMAGE displayed on the JasJar doesn't change except when they swap one (possibly a different unit, lol) in to view with a STATIC portrait display of a web page. The keyboard icon you see is a frequent graphic artifact in Windows Mobile, often when full screen applications are interrupted (like orientation changes) the stupid little keyboard icon appears and doesn't go away even when full screen mode is returned. I did actually see that in PIE frequently on my Uni, but i believe also in many full screen image viewers.
I guess I just chuckle when a static image of a browser feature that isn't going to be finished for 9-12 months is displayed on an old device becomes a call for a ROM dump and hope for a 6.1 upgrade for the Uni. If it was capable of rendering the YouTube video, wouldn't they have shown it playing the video? Sure the Uni might get this feature down the road, but only if the XDA hackers put one together after it's made available for other device.
*Edit - that's definitely a device swap @ 1:15: never before in the history of Windows Mobile has a Universal changed from landscape to portrait and redrawn the screen entirely in less than 1 second.

Oh.. I see.. You're right.
Yes, He has two Universals. The probability of an official WM6.1 is nonexistent.
I had only an hope to dump that rom.. But you say it's a stupid picture.. Now.. I don't have even an hope!

Since there are many articles about iPhone and discussions which one
is better the iPhone or HTC Diamond I have decided to check how good
iPhone actually is. They all say that Mac OS X is much faster than the WinMo but I never believed them and now I know why I haven’t believed them.
Contacts and Dialer
Firstly what I checked is the speed of opening contacts and phone
dialer, and I can tell you that WinMo (6.5) is actually faster here.
Both are pretty good, but iPhone is opening those 2 things little bit
slower than hTC does, so WinMo wins here.
Email
Next what I checked is the email speed, both are synchronizing Inbox
pretty fast, both devices are opening emails pretty fast and they are equal there but scrolling through them is better on the iPhone. Also setting up email account is faster and easier on iPhone than on the HTC Diamond. On the other hand reading emails is better on hTC Diamond (although scrolling is better in iPhone) because Diamond has much better resolution so reading emails is much more "natural" than on the iPhone and you won’t "kill" your eyes reading them.
Reading documents
Next thing I have tested is reading PDF's, although you can’t read your
PDF's from storage (unless you jailbreak it) reading PDF's is much
faster on the iPhone also scrolling through them is working
flawlessly. But we have here again resolution problem so you oftenly
need to zoom in to see the text. Since WinMo users have office preinstalled on their phones and also since 2010 version we have kinetic scrolling reading any office document is much better than on the iPhone
Wi-Fi
I have tested phones with 2 positions, one in my house to see will they both connect normally to my house network and they both did. In second testing I wanted to connect to my friend’s network. With Diamond no problem I can use his Wi-Fi without any problems but iPhone haven’t even managed to find that network, I have even try to manually connect to that network but no lock, so Diamond is much better with Wi-Fi recipient!
Camera
Taking pictures in the middle of the day seems to be better on iPhone, although pic is smaller colors seems to be better on iPhone’s pic. Taking in-house screens seems to be better on Diamond less noise and better resolution. They are both equally at night, both useless although iPhone pic seems little (really little) bit better
Screen
Not only that iPhone has catastrophic resolution compared to any other WinMo device but also screen quality seems much better on hTC, although iPhone has little bit more bright screen, screen looks so “washed” (black becomes grey…) on that setting. Also viewing anything from a different angle on iPhone’s screen is useless (like viewing film on a turbo cheap LCD from a different angle), while you can normally see anything on Diamond screen without loss in pic quality.
Browser
Well opening Internet Browser and web pages is definitely faster on the
iPhone (about 20-30% faster) but viewing them is better on the HTC Diamond
again because of the resolution, it is much, much easier and painless
reading it on a Diamond. Rotating to landscape is faster on the
iPhone but speed of reverting it back to portrait is same on both
devices.
Keyboard
In portrait speed of typing is almost same on both devices (iPhone is faster for about 5%) in landscape iPhone's big screen gives opportunity to type much faster than on a Diamond, although on iPhone I really miss coma and dot button, also there are no arrows so sometimes when you need to edit one letter you need to delete whole word correct it, big disadvantage. Also if you prefer type on classic phone keypad (abc) there is no option for that on an iPhone.
Battery
Haven’t tested this hardly, but from what I could see with general usage iPhone’s battery is around 30% better
Overall I still prefer my Diamond since it has much more tweaking options and iPhone still lacks some important things (e.g. you can't change a thing in camera, you can’t see your next appointment on the home screen/lock screen-can be fixed by jail breaking it, but then performance becomes worse) and soon iPhone becomes boring while I can tweak my Diamond forever and I just can't be bored with it
A little bit partial but who cares, i have a Touch Diamond too
What do you mean with partial?

The first thing that strikes you is the bright and sharp screen. So far, we know that it's a 4.2-inch 1,280 x 768-pixel (WXGA) display, but not the type of screen or pixel layout. That brings the device's pixel density to 355 ppi, which beats the iPhone's 326 ppi Retina Display hands down.
The Dev Alpha is able to hold its own next to the Galaxy S II's Super AMOLED Plus screen
Many have dubbed the Dev Alpha a mini Playbook. The full touchscreen form factor is similar and the Dev Alpha is made from the same matte black material that covers the PlayBook's back.
While we're on the topic of RIM's tablet, the Dev Alpha seems to be running a barebones OS that's reminiscent of the PlayBook OS 2.0. In fact, checking the prototype's software version shows "PlayBook OS 10".
Since BB 10 is going to be QNX-based, there are going to be some similarities between the PlayBook OS 2.0 and the next-generation operating system. However, Smith adds that what is seen on the Dev Alpha now is not reflective of the final UI, which will actually look more like Live Tiles on Windows Phone.
This being a prototype device, the software was buggy at times, and didn't always detect our fingers. Also, there are no preinstalled apps except the camera and browser.
We didn't get to test the amazing time warp function, where you can scroll a few frames forward or backward to get the best shot. All images that were shot via the front- and rear-facing cameras also simply disappeared off the screen.
With BB OS 10, you're supposed to be getting the new onscreen keyboard. This feature wasn't available on the device we tested, but our CNET US counterpart Brian Bennett did try it, and had good things to say about it:
At first glance it doesn't look like much, just a standard layout with not many options for dual-functions. When you start typing, though--that's when the magic happens. Each letter you tap will cause the phone to display suggested words above the letter it thinks you're most likely to type next. I tried my hand at banging out a few messages and I often found myself staring right at the word sitting on the tip of my tongue. It's honestly an uncanny feeling, almost as if the device was reading my mind.
In addition, there's the ability to swipe upwards on predicted words to add them to the message body. The new keyboard is supposed to help you to input text more efficiently, as well as use a modelling algorithm that will tailor itself to your typing habits over time. It's similar to what's already on the PlayBook, only more intuitive to use.
Finally, you'll find the microSD slot, microHDMI and microUSB ports on the left side. The Dev Alpha packs some 16GB of non-expandable onboard storage and 1GB of RAM, as well as a non-removable battery. Connectivity-wise, there's the usual suite of options like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Internet tethering and near-field communications (NFC). Unfortunately, there isn't a SIM card slot.
If RIM's final BB 10 devices look as good as the Dev Alpha--and actually runs BB 10 OS smoothly--we feel pretty upbeat about its chances in the market. Let's just hope it doesn't follow the footsteps of the PlayBook, which received rave reviews when it was announced, but failed to perform after it was released. All images via Aisa.Cnet

Teaching an old Dog new Tricks - How to build a DIY 3D Camera from two HD2’s

Firmware Upgrades are one way to revitalize old Hardware but we are still limited by the Hardware itself. So what best to do before donating the Device to XDA? How about a single dedicated usage like a DIY 3D Camera?

After careful consideration and plenty of “3D is not important for my decision” talk I decided on a Samsung 46” LCD 400Mhz 3D Capable TV. What a beauty and 3D came as a bonus with two glasses included. Unfortunately free content is rare so I thought and I set out to search for more material. As I soon found out Stereography has been around since the 1840’s. There is an abundance of Tools and Material you just have to find it.
I also realized there are a whole bunch of 3D Standards but found the Half-SBS (Side-by-Side) function to work best for me. This brought up an idea. I still had two HD2’s laying around and I figured from what I read Stereoscopy is really not that much more than taking two pictures side by side at the same time. Easy enough I used my 20 year old Stockis/Mechano set to construct a crude frame for the HD2’s.
It took a couple of tries to get the rig to be easy enough to carry with me and take pictures simultaneously. An Android or Windows Mobile App to synch the Cameras would be nice to have but for now it works fine manually. Up to this point I really didn’t expect too much from my contraption. Once I had the rig done I took some test pictures, hooked the Phones up to the Computer and transferred the files. With the “StereoPhoto Maker” for Windows I created the final Stereo Pictures and transferred them to the TV. Among other things I suggest you try Auto Alignment to optimize the 3D Image.
Eager to see the results I turned to my TV, put on my Glasses, and Voila a perfect 3D Image. I can now capture the world in 3 Dimensions and all this without going bankrupt in this dimension. Off course a little adjustment and practice in taking 3D Pictures will most likely be need to get the best results. Here are a few Tips and Tricks to get you started.
Intra-axial distance on 3D Cameras:
The intra-axial distance is the distance between the lenses of the Camera. Two HD2’s next to each other have a Intra-axial distance of 7cm. The average human intra-axial distance is 6.35cm. Furthermore the distance from the Camera to an Object should at least be 30x the intra-axial distance.
Optimal Average: > 1.90m
Optimal for HD2’s: > 2.10m

The Concept of Parallax on a modern 3D LCD TV:
The Distance an Object is felt from the Screen. Whereas the Screen has a zero or neutral Parallax.
Negative Parallax (comes out of the Screen)
Object shift -15pp to the left to get a negative Parallax effect.
Positive Parallax (goes into the Screen)
Object shift +12pp to the right to get a positive Parallax effect.
Objects are best felt as 3D when at the bottom of the image the objects come from the outside to the inside and at the top from the inside to the outside. Never the other way around or you will get a headache looking at the pictures in 3D.
HD2 / Phone Camera Tips:
The HD2 Camera is good enough to take these kind of pictures but you are preaty much limited to good light conditions. I prefer Portrait Pictures on my 46" TV. Turn off the Flashlight it will make a simultaneous pictures much easier to take.
3D Films with DIY 3D Camera
For 3D Films the timing is absolutly crucial. Use StereoMovie Maker to auto allign, rotate, and create the final 3D Movie. See Links in next Post. In order to keep it the picture sharp move the Camera slowly and stay atleast 2.10m away from the Object.

Smartphone that i am going to review:
A 5inch touch screen smartphone running on android 4.2.9 Jellybean
http://www.tmart.co.uk/Doogee-DG201...ar-Smartphone-EU-Standard-Yellow_p242376.html
My review:
This is the first android smartphone i have received from Tmart. The tablet arrived in a box packed neatly with all the accessories as seen in the pictures. The phone screen was wrapped with a plastic cover to protect the screen; on top of that, there was already a screen protector applied on the phone. This leaves the phone screen well protected from day 1 and also removes the need for me to get a screen protector.
Design and Display:
The DG2014 is a beautifully designed device with the dimensions, 143 x 71 x 6.3 mm. It has a rectangular shape in front and curves slightly at the back to enhance the user's grip. Weighing only 145g(with battery), it is also a fairly light device making it comfortable to hold. The sides of the device and made of metal giving the device a classy look although the back cover is made of polycarbonate. The power button is located at the left side of the device while the volume up and down button is located at the right side of the device.
The volume up and down button is 2 separate buttons making it extremely easy to press. In the front of the device, there are 3back-lit touch keys at the bottom, “Menu”, “Home” and the “back” button. All the physical buttons are made of metal giving us a good feel.
The large 5-inch HD IPS OGS screen has a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels with 16million screen colours. Picture quality on this screen is simply amazing and the screen is able to reproduce colours very well. The brightness can also be increased to very high hence allowing the user to see the screen even under sunlight.
Camera:
The DG2014 has both rear and front cameras. The front camera is 5megapixel while the back camera is a 13megapixel. With these 2 cameras, the user is able to capture high quality images using the rear camera or can even take selfies using the impressive 5megapixel camera. The quality of the image will be great. The back camera also has a led flash light to enable users to take picture in the dark.
i have added some sample shots taken by the rear camera below
Speakers:
The DG2014 has a back speaker which is able to provide decent music playback. Sounds are quite loud and crisp.
Processor and Graphics:
Equipped with a MTK6582 Cortex A7 Quad-core, 1.3GHz processor, the phone is very fast and loads applications quickly without lagging. The GPU is a Mali-400 MP which is able to run most games extremely well. Games such as “angry birds” and “cut the rope” runs smoothly on this phone. 3D games like minion rush are also able to load without problems.
Features of the phone:
Dual Sim – Allows for 2 sim cards to be using simultaneously
GPS and AGPS – Accurate location tracking when using apps such as google maps
Wifi+Bluetooth – Allows user to stay connected on the internet or to transfer data via Bluetooth
Network – Supports GPRS/HSDPA+/EDGE
FM Radio – Able to listen to radio on the go
1Gb Ram – Able to multi-task
Storage Space -4gb(phone storage) + 3gb(internal storage) + external sd card slot(up to 32gb) – Able to store your data with no problems on this phone. You wont have to worry about the lack of storage space
Detailed Specifications can be found on Tmart/Doogee website
Package Includes
1 x Cellphone
1 x Earphones
1 x Battery
1 x USB Cable
1 x Euro Standard Power Adapter
1 x Protective Film
1 x User Manual
Conclusion
The DG2014 is a mid-tier phone with very good specifications. Priced competitively at only 211SGD, it is a value for money. It also has a very nice ultra thin design making it looks aesthetically pleasing. I would strongly recommend this phone to anyone who has a low budget but wants a decent smartphone
