Hi my friends,
I´m testing 3.18.90 new radio upgrade, for those who want to test it, here´s
Please post your results.
Cheers
it is NBH formart. you can flash it ,and dont change anyting.
and your phone must HARDSPL.
I flashed it -- the flash went fine.
Will test it out and report back. Seems to work very well so far.
I'm going to make a trip across the USA soon so I hope this radio works better as they keep switching me off cell towers.
thanks....

Just extract it from the nbh. Use Dutty's NBH tool.
thank you!
works ok, so far.
had a lot of problems with 3.12.90
Thanks ginolin,
how is your first impression with it?
How do I go about putting this on my phone. I am currently using Open Touch v4.0 lite.

1. settings>system>device information
2. This COULD increase battery life, reception, call quality, etc...
3. Flash center SHOULD be able to flash this, but i refer this to somebody else.
I guess no one has finished testing...
I'm getting static in calls with this rom. Only day one. I'll give it a week and report back.
I have beed using this radio for about a week already haven't had n e issuse as of yet. In fact I have seen some boost in my signal. at work I usually have crapy signal and since upgrading; in places where i had no signal I now noticed I have a few bars to work with.
working great!!!
Could be T-Mo was on the fritz when I started testing. This 3G in NYC is wrecking the network from time to time. Major slow does in EDGE service.
been using this radio for about two weeks. even get more bars in my building at work.
Same here, noticed better signal in places I normally won't get a signal. Thanks.
just flashed this earlier and the download speeds with edge are faster than with the old radio... downloaded trans new rom straight to my wing in about 30 min for 41mb not bad... plus some of my outlook emails came thru all of a sudden... and wing temperature is more stable while using edge... before it would heat up to about 106degrees....
Question:
Can this radio be flashed via the Flash center? I try to do it & I get hung up on the white screen. Someone please help me.

yes it will flash using flashcenter... put the radio rom in the ruu folder and then flash just like you would a regular rom.. follow the instructions on your pc...
sorry, but what do I do?
this radio looks like it helps with signals and edge speeds. can someone please tell me what to do to install it. once i put it in the RUU folder, what do i do next?
thanks

i'll just tell you how cause downloading for me rightnow isn't working.
1. get htc rom tool and dutty's nbhtool v1.1
2. use winrar to take the exe apart and get the .nbh file
3. use nbhtool to extract nb files from nbh file
4. put nb file containing radio(should be 769.nb and/or be about 17mb) into htcrt in the radio line
5. click build rom
6. put the newly made nbh file into an empty folder along with Kaiser Custom RUU
7. flash just like a ROM

I just found this radio, been using .20.29
My hope is that this has a better battery life, which I will report if it does.
Radio is amazing!
I've been using this radio for 2 days now and it's amazing. I've been driving from MN to Washington D.C. and i flashed this when I was in Ohio. I've been using it for work(and downloading roms) an it's incredible. Let me tell you why. When driving, I've never been able to download a big file because as soon as my phone switches to the next tower, it loses the cennection and I have to try again. Surfing is fine because it's a momentary connection. Downloading a big file needs a constant connection. Switching towers or loseing signal breaks that connection and stops the download. This radio has been able to download 100+ mb files and stay downloading when I switch to new towers, switch to and from 3g, HSDPA, EDGE, GPRS and even when I lose signal for a few minutes even. I've been going through the mountains and it still downloads!!! I have two tilts with me and this one has been holding phone calls when the other won't and gets better signal.
Hello Fellow Kaiser radio users....I need a little enlightenment....
I am running L26 v3 ROM with R 1.65.20.29 (HTC_SPL run to alleviate the laggy freezes) and finding that its eats the battery and takes a while to get GPS fixes in NE Scotland......
Questions are
i) Can I flash a different Radio (only 1.6X.XX.XX types as I understand?) to test for better battery/GPS reception without HARDSPL being on the phone now?
ii) Can anyone recommend a better radio than 1.65.20.29 (L26 v3 compatible) that has actually trialled same?
Thanks in advance!

HARDSPL is the name of the game indeed. For every ROM and RADIo you wanna test outside the stock ones.

I believe all diamond ROMs require 1.65.x.x, I just switched to 1.65.20.29 since the once that ships with L26 v4 eats my battery like little pieces of popcorn. Also, you need to put hardspl back on before flashing anything (radios, roms, splashscreens, etc.) Look at post #729 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395555&page=73 These are the clearest instructions for moving back and forth that I have seen. I used them and it took me about 2 minutes.

New thread that really explains SPL thoroughly and step-by-step instructions here.
Hi guys! Im from Norway, im therefore having the Europe version of the TP.
My ROM version is: 1.90.409.6 NOR
My Radio version is: 1.02.25.19
My problem is that the phone is rather slow and unstable.. Since i got it 2 months ago i had to factory reset it four times! And therefore having to install all my apps and stuff over and over again. Starting to get a little frustrating The last fault i got on the device was that it wouldn recieve sms. I had to turn off the phone, and then back on to get them. And had to do so every ten minutes to be sure that i got the messenges i was suppose to.. Kind of boring. So! Im wondering. What would you guys suggest? Would a radio update change the speed of my device?
Sorry if i double posted. I couldt find any posts with norwegian people woundering about the same
Thx in advance!
I doubt, that a different radio will improve you situation but you can easily try it without any risk. Flashing a different radio does not hard reset your device. So you can try it and go back if it doesn't show any effect.
I would suggest you to have a look at ROMeOS v1.40. That ROM is extremely fast (compared to stock ROM at least) and perfectly stable.
HTH
Okey. Thanks for the response. I read somewhere that a radio flash did make the device faster. Im not sure if my version is old or not but. Do you perhaps have a link to a radio flash guide? The only simmilar i found only said how to change ROM.
Cheers!

I found the radio flash guide. But when i tried to install HardSPL it halted saying that my TP wasnt connected to my PC. Wich it was.. So thats kinda weird.
But lets say i want to try a new ROM. My TP is set up with Norwegian keys. And the software keys on my TP also have the norwegian letters if i use the fn key. Will this dissapear? Ive never done this before. Sorry if my questions are strange =)
Anyone? =)
Hi, I have a Tilt with PDA Corner Ultimate V.10,
Hard SPL 3.29,
and radio 1.27.14.09 (AT&T Stock)
The radio is causing the phone to have no sound, but everything else works fine. I know this problem is common, but I have tried everything within my ability and cannot get it to flash to any other ROM or radio.
When flashing a new ROM or radio, it shows the current version and update version, but never gets past 0% without a 262 error
I have tried all of the solutions I found posted on the forum, (Jump SPL, MTTY, EVERYTHING) trust me i've searched and read and searched more, I am not a newb to this although my post count is low.
Is there anyone with this particular problem on this particular ROM/radio combination that can help me out?

Maybe this is another one of those 'Radios from Hell' that won't let you upgrade. Note this quote from Ultimate Radio Thread:

A clear advice to all is: always make sure you have HardSPL installed and your device is security unlocked before installing a new radio !!
Also, maybe something in this thread will help you...

Thanx for your quick reply. I was thinking along the same lines, but I installed HardSPL just fine and flashed to the PDA corner ROM with no problem, the problem arose when I figured out that the radio was causing the phone to have no sound and wanted to update it..which of course did not work. Right now I am trying the stock ROM with the same radio to see if it will allow me to flash it...

That's why I'm thinking you may have flashed a 'Radio from Hell' which is preventing any further ROM updates. Maybe something in the RFH thread I linked to can help...

Ok, this is a radio from hell, i found some information on it stating that when it is used with any other ROM, sound will not function. Now I am trying to revert back to the orignial ROM but I have a new problem, I cannot find the original rom for this phone (AT&T aku 0.4.4 build 18128 radio 1.27.14.09) in working condition. There is only one link to it and the file is corrupted(rapidshare). is there anyone with this operating system that could send me a link that is NOT the one posted on XDA: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341886). Thanx to drtolson, and thanx in advance to anyone else who is brave enough to get involved.
(Drtolson, I want to try the techniques on the post you sent a link to, but it states that the steps only work with that particular radio and others have not had any success using it with any other radios.)

hello community !
i have a problem that on my SD card i see RADIO DUMP files
from what i have read it means my modem crashes sometimes is that true?
i have MIUI rom running all is working well except these weird dump files that get created from time to time.
as far as i understood i need to flash a different modem if i got it right that will solve the problem?
the thing is i have no idea wich modem i need where i should download it and how to install it
for example i have a Galaxy S also running Miui and i flashed a Modem called JV4 wich is recommended for Orange Israel strait from recovery.
can i use the same file on my nexus s ?
if not could some one please point me for the right modem for me for Orange Israel
and is installation simply from recovery too (install zip from sd) ?
thnx allot in advanced i sure hope the solution for this is easy
theres no fix to it. its just completely random, you're more than free to delete the files.
but yeah, if you want.. you can flash other radios (its not modems) via flashable zips using clockwork recovery. refer to the android dev forums for the RADIO thread and download the radios corresponding to your phone model
you can verify your current radio by going to menu -> about phone -> look for baseband version
hey thnx allot for the quick replay
is the radio has to do something with signal and stuff ?
and when u mean random u mean like its not a problem at all ?
and basiclly flashing a new radio wont solve the issue of the dump files ?
im gonna head over and check wich radio suits me
ive searched for the radio thread but theres so many of them hehe im lost
ok so i found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884&highlight=Radio
but it does not say wich radio is for what area

Yes it does. Find out what model of nexus s you have and download a radio corresponding to your model. You can check your baseband (radio) as I listed before. Reread what I said previously. Everything you need to know is in there.
Or you can just delete the dumps, they're nothing.
I used to get a lot when I fest got the phone and then try mysteriously stopped showing up.

i can see my baseband version and all but since i get radio dumps i need a different version no?
i have KD1 now but i get dumps so what the use to flash KD1 again?

i just need to know which version is for my area and its not listed any where

I don't understand what you're asking for.
The DUMPS being dumped into your sdcard are GARBAGE. They happen MYSTERIOUSLY. just delete them. Is there a fix? No. Do we know why that happen? Not 100%, if you want to really find out. Use the search feature and find it. There is a thread about radio dumps in the past, you might find something there. But my solution is to just delete it. It'll happen again but it's not like its going to use up all the space on your phone.
Updating the radio will not help anything. Is there a chance it could? It's possible. But the main reason why you update the radio is to see if it improves your signals. The latest version doesn't necessarily mean its better. It varies between location.
If you have I9020T... download the ones for that. These radios are not based on location, they are based on your PHONE MODEL. It is a global radio and doesn't matter. As long as its respective to the phone model that you have, you're fine. You're making it more complicated than what it really is.
These radios are not based on location, they are based on your PHONE MODEL. It is a global radio and doesn't matter
NOW that makes everything more clear to me !!!
in galaxy s when i had radio dumps i changed radio and it helped this is why i asked for a different radio
but since u said there is really no use of changing a radio and it wont stop the dumps on the nexus s unlike the galaxy so i wont even bother flashing a different one
thnx u so so much for all your help and for making everything clear to me on how it works
thnx !

The only use of changing the radios is to see which of them gives you the best result. If you're that bored, you could go through each of them and see which gives you the best performance. I personally use KB3. KD1 has a bug where it says "3G" instead of "H" at various times and it bugs me.
You're welcome.
well as u said since those dumps wont go even if i flash a different radio then Fu$#*)( it
i dont really feel any poor signal in wifi 3g phone reception etc...
thnx again for everything it works different with the nexus s and galaxy s the radio thingy so now all cleared for me
im not that bored to start checking heheh you answered me perfectly now that i got it
I recently switched to the CoreDroid HD V8 rom. I am using the suggested radio:
12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 - (HTC Ace Gingerbread S Generic 2.36.0)
- Also flash the following RIL package: RIL_2.36
But ever since switching from stock to this setup, I end up on 3g and edge, when I used to stay on 4g. I was wondering if this is normal, or a problem with the radio or rom I am using.
Check your speed through the speedtest.net app. Inspire based ROMS show H+ no matter what. Others do not give you that fake H+. They give you the normal E, 3G, H and so on.
Yeah that's what I was thinking. So as long as I am able to make and recieve calls, and data is working. And I am not having the battery drained from tower bouncing, then the radio I am using is fine?

If the radio is working fine for you, then I wouldn't recommend changing anything.. Especially if you don't really understand it.
But on the other hand.. when I initially rooted my phone.. I was just using the stock radio and had no problems either.. but then when I did flash a recommended radio, I did notice an improvement.
In the end, it is up to you. If you want to learn a bit more about your phone and possibly improve your experience, I would suggest that you read this sticky (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106324) and then do what it says.

According to what I understand, no need to flash a new radio unless dropped calls or no data usage is a problem. I just like to go all the way with whatever I do, so I update everything I can.

I rooted my captivate but never got into ROMS and such with it, not that I have the Inspire I have flashed a handful of ROMS and whatnot... however I just got the guts (and knowledge) to flash radios... I went with LEEs rom and recommended radio however I noticed that my DL speeds were way low (below 1mps) so I went back to the stock radio and ril and boom right back where they we before... so if your phones working I see no reason to change anything..
