DPAD and the bright white circle - Touch Cruise General

I really like the look of the cruise. And the glowing circle around the center button on the DPAD is cool. However, it is really bright! Especially at night if you are reading in the dark.
Is there a way to toggle this on or off? Or even better to control the brightness.
Thanks for your suggestions.

No one knows how to control this?

I 'd be interested in knowing how to lower the brightness too !

Backlight

Is there any way to completely disable the backlight on the samsung galaxy s 4g?
What I mean by this is that I don't want the soft keys on the phone to light up at all
I would like to see a reply to this as well...I use Screen Filter and it does a great job at dimming the screen beyond the minimum I can with Android, but it doesn't affect those buttons...they're blindingly bright in a blacked out room...

[Q] screen issues

i been having problems with screen meaning everytime i am out during the daytime i can not see my screen what so ever. i was wondering if there is anyway to fix that? is there any apps i can download?
I installed a Widget called Brightness Level (free!) and assigned it to a Jump Key (Jump-X is what i used)
When it is pressed as a widget from a home screen, a pop-up appears with 0%, 25% 50%, 75%,. 100%, & Auto along with a slider-bar to set the screen brioghtness percentage.
Pressing the Jump key brings up the same app. the widget also shows the current setting percentage.
...using the Jump screen allows you to easily access the app even when the screen is completely dark.

any screen will do this in sunlight, turn your brightness to max by swiping your finger from left to right on the status bar and there are also anti glare screen protectors that cedll phone shops sell that may help
I have heard of that tip, but it only seems to work about 1/4 of the time (unless I am really bad at the whole swiping thing) that is why I set up the keyboard shortcut instead which works 98% of the time (assmuing the active program isn't stuck/frozen)

Swiping only works if "Auto" is off, you can also just long touch a spot on the notification bar ;-) ex, left, middle, right or anywhere in between. this seems to work better than swiping for me.
Hope this helps.
you can also just got to settings>display>brightness, uncheck automatic, and adjust brightness that way. you can also assign a jump key shortcut to settings>display, as i just did. that pretty much eliminates the need for a widget.

[Q] Are the menu buttons supposed to light up?

I just picked up a gTablet and I noticed that the hardware menu buttons on the top right side are very hard to see on the black bezel. at night it is impossible.
Are these buttons supposed to light up? If they do, does anyone know why mine might not light up?
Thanks !

No they don't light up.
In the dark... I use the Force to locate them
Search for threads on how to workaround this problem,
ButtonSavior (to get on screen buttons)
Fluorescent tape near buttons.
Opencase and add LED
add drops of glue on the side across the buttons
etc etc

I use the digital buttons that appear in the bottom bar. They work fine.

[Q] Help with hardware buttons - brightness

Anyone come across a place in the code where you can configure the brightness of the light behind the hardware keyboard and the hardware buttons on the face?
Here's the deal, the buttons on the front facing of the phone are just too damn bright, and now that I have one of those privacy-shield screen protectors on (love it, btw) the hardware buttons are way too bright, about 3 times the level of light that emanates from the screen.
I desperately need to figure out how to dim those front face buttons, because it's really screwing with my eyes while i'm trying to work with the device.
Everything I search for on XDA comes up with using the hardware buttons to set the brightness levels, but nothing about setting the brightness levels of the backlit buttons themselves.
While we're poking around on it I figured we should see about the brightness level of the hardware buttons on the keyboard, too. I think they're fine, but someone else might want to adjust it and it stands to reason to concentrate the info all in one spot.
Anyone come up with a clue while browsing through the device, or know how to do this? I don't want to lose all the illumination, just dim it a bit.
Thanks!
Clue 1:
In kernel source, /arch/arm/mach-msm/board-doubleshot.c
Around line 2300 some info defined.
More as it's found, going through all kernel source line by line takes a while.

Dim nav buttons?

am I missing it or is there no option to keep the nav buttons always off. them jokers are bright!
I know right
guess imma have to do what i did with the an old htc phone and put red litho tape on the buttons. looks ugly a bright ass light shining when not needed is even uglier, lol.
Yeah setting is missing. I was looking for the setting when I got the phone as well.
I used an app called galaxy button lights. It has optio s to keep them of or change the time out
yeah, i just saw that in the other note thread, thanks!
No problem. Anything i can do to help.
